The big male had almost been asleep when the female spoke. Raising his lids, he gave her that glassy unfocused look of sleep before blinking and coming back to reality. "Mmmph." He muttered, then yawned once more. "You're welcome. Might as well eat it rather than let it rot."
Rolling onto his back, he wriggled back and forth, itching his spine on the stone floor. Relief flooded through him. This really was the only way to scratch a back itch in his eyes. Righting himself once more, he raised his head, still laying upon his stomach.
"The pack is going to be travelling East soon. Will you stay here or would you like to come along? We can use all of the intelligence we can get." It was sad, but true. There must have been something in the water that made the wolves of these parts silly and awkward. He normally didn't think that he was better than others, but being here with all of these new wolves, especially the females, made him feel like he was stuck pup-sitting for eternity.
