II Male II Six Years Old II Alpha II No Love Interest

At his comment that he was surprised that Pride wasn't lost as well, the male lifted his shoulders and let them fall in a shrug. It was true, the humans had taken him from his home and dropped him here, but that had been moons ago. Now he knew this land like the back of his paw, and his strange human scent was fading, becoming one with the forest around him. "I've been here since the last time the snow fell." was the only answer the male gave as to why he wasn't lost himself, tossing a glance around him at the frosted ground. Snow hadn't quite fallen yet this year, but he knew it would. Soon.

At the question about his not attacking immediately, Pride allowed his ears to perk as if he were surprised. "I tend to give wolves a chance before I begin attacking randomly when my markers are as weak as they are. If I'd had my borders more strongly marked, then we may be having a very different conversation right now." His words seemed to be lost on the other wolf, but Pride knew that the male was considering his offer. When Kaitou relaxed into a sitting position, Pride let a small grin touch his muzzle before dipping his head at the beta's request. "That shouldn't be a problem. However, I do ask that you let me know if you are leaving so that I may find a temporary beta to stand in your absence."

Kaitou | Kai | Male | Mexican Grey X Timber | Beta

"I've been here since the last time the snow fell."

The last time the snow came... The mixed-breed wolf raised his head, muzzle pointing to the grey sky as he stared into the freezing winds above. The last time the snow came, which meant the previous winter, seeing as snow hadn't fallen yet this winter. "That's...quite a long time." Kaitou commented, voice low and head lowered so that he was facing the dark wolf again. "I was brought here during the early autumn, though it was quite a ways from this area." The valley which the large tricoloured male had been left at was nothing less than a hell for wolves. Polluted lakes, sharp objects all about, and long-dead carcasses strewn everywhere that the eye could see. A wasteland, and far from the fresh and clean forests that the male had lived in before. He was forced to move the moment he awoke, and had been traveling since.

"I tend to give wolves a chance before I begin attacking randomly when my markers are as weak as they are. If I'd had my borders more strongly marked, then we may be having a very different conversation right now."

That made sense. If the dark wolf attacked an intruding wolf right away, he would probably be without a pack for the rest of his life, unless a wolf he fought killed him first. "I'm glad then, that you made the choice to wait." Even though Kaitou's heritage made him a naturally-born fighter, surprise attacks had a way of causing an uncontrollable urge to strike back wildly, all caution and reason forgotten. For the large male, he'd honed his fighting skills often back in the old forest, even practicing against surprise attacks during the occasions when he lived in a pack, but no amount of practice could ensure survival in fights. It never did, and never would.

"That shouldn't be a problem. However, I do ask that you let me know if you are leaving so that I may find a temporary beta to stand in your absence."

"Sounds good." the tricoloured wolf murmured, a smile forming on his muzzle. He was glad that this dark alpha agreed to his terms so readily - other packs that he'd tried to join rarely accepted the terms, and usually just chased him out upon his mentioning any conditions.

The large male flexed his shoulders, getting rid of the stiffness building up in his bones due to the cold of winter, and was just about to ask the dark male in front of him to lead the way to the place where the pack would stay when he realised one vital piece of information - he did not know the name of his alpha. Clearing his throat softly, Kaitou raised his head once more, his voice ringing out clearly in the silence of the seemingly deserted forest. "It seems I've forgotten the manners my mother taught me when I was a pup." Kaitou began slowly, "My name is Kaitou, though you may call me Kai if you'd like. May I ask for your name, alpha?"

II Male II Six Years Old II Alpha II No Love Interest

"That's...quite a long time. I was brought here during the early autumn, though it was quite a ways from this area."

The alpha also turned his attention to the thickening winter clouds for a moment before the beta's next comment drew his attention back to earth. "I'm glad then, that you made the choice to wait." The darker male dipped his head once in a nod, his amber eyes thoughtful. "How would I ever hope to build a pack if I'm always attacking first and asking questions later?" was his only response to that. He didn't have the same issues with surprise attacks that Kaitou did, but it seemed their pasts were different as well. Growing up as the runt of the litter, Pride had gotten to the point where surprise attacks weren't really surprises anymore. After all, if it's expected then it is no longer a surprise, right?

Kaitou's quick acceptance of his terms drew the alpha out of his own mind, and he nodded once more, an answering smile drifting across his muzzle. He'd never seen the point of restricting his pack to their territory alone, making them all miserable. No, if Kaitou wanted to wander then he was welcome to. However, if he ever deserted the pack and tried to return, the beta would be meeting his fangs, not his friendliness. Turning his muzzle towards the eastern parts of his territory, Pride opened his mouth to speak, but his thoughts were interrupted once more by the other male.

"It seems I've forgotten the manners my mother taught me when I was a pup. My name is Kaitou, though you may call me Kai if you'd like. May I ask for your name, alpha?"

Pride turned his gaze back to Kai, humor glinting in his eyes. "If I treated you with the manners my mother taught me as a pup, I'd be telling you to get away from me you stinking sack of fur! However, I am nothing like my family, so instead I will treat you with the manners you've shown me. I am called Demon's Pride, although you may just call me Pride. Now that that's taken care of, if you'd like, I can show you to the pack den? It isn't much, but it is more sheltered than here and the cold doesn't really permeate the thicket all too badly."

Aailayah stirred from her slumber, and drowsily blinked her eyes. She rolled to one side, inhaled deeply, and sniffed the air, searching for any unfamiliar scents. Finding none, she rose, and stiffened, digging her rather small paws into the ground, she extended her front and back legs, stretching them as her muscles tightened. She groaned, looking about her she took into account not a soul was in sight. Aailayah shuffled slightly, her nimble paws digging into the moist Earth. Her eyes amber eyes flickered as she flicked her tail slightly to and fro.

She looked around as the sun warmed her thick snow white pelt; her paws tingled with anticipation. Aailayah flicked her tail ever so slightly. Her chest heaved as she inhaled the crisp morning air, she scanned her surroundings once more all the while reasoning better safe than sorry. Alas, the fae found no danger amiss, and continued on, entering the thick, dense forest. Aailayah arubtly halted in her tracks, glancing in each direction, and sought for the presence of prey. Her eyes flickered as she held her snout in the air, catching a faint scent of a rabbit. A soft smile appeared to take form to her face, her claws clicked softly against the Earth as she moved forward until she noticed the distinguishable figure of a rabbit a few paw steps from her. However, her hunt was interrupted with the crunch of a leaf; Aailayah sighed, observing as the rabbit escaped into its hole, she then backtracked a few paw steps. Glancing around her as the wind came in wisps, twirling the hair of her thick pelt. Aailayah closed her eyes momentarily, she inhaled deeply and leaned into the wind. Her nose crinkled as a leaf landed on the tip of her snout until the wind swept it away. Aailayah's amber eyes shone. All was quiet; in the silence Aailayah felt all that was around her, the wind, the other creatures that roamed the forest floor, she could hear the rush of a stream not far off, the songs of mockingbirds.

She trudged along, roaming the forest floor, her nostrils flared as she caught the scent of various creatures. Aailayah temporarily drifted into various thoughts, the most prominent being of how she arrived at this location. The day she was taken from her home of solitude had been like that of any other day, one she spent unaccompanied. She had been wandering the forest as was her customary routine when she was injected, immediately collapsing into unconsciousness. Aailayah shook her maw vigorously as the memory dissipated, her ears swiveling as she identified the familiar sound of a squirrel. Aailayah slinked low to the ground, the grass brushing against her pelt, she hid in a nearby thicket, her prey unsuspecting in its attempt to pluck an acorn from a low branch. She crouched, momentarily shuffling her paws in apprehension. Suddenly, she leapt with all her might, emerging through the thicket, she took off after the squirrel, and was upon it before it had the opportunity to escape. She killed it with a single blow. Her eyes gleamed with delight as she devoured the plump prey in the shade of a tall pine. Aailayah rose as she finished the squirrel, shaking her pelt of the filth that clung to it, running her tongue over her bloodstained maw, savoring the rich taste of the squirrel. She paused momentarily, though, her eyes dilating as she sensed the presence of other wolves, inaudibly murmuring to herself, you've got to be kidding... why are there other wolves here..., she broke into a brisk pace as to find the source of the scent. Upon her arrival, she identified two wolves, listening scrupulously. Aailayah took the cover of a nearby thicket as she observed the interaction between the two wolves.

Kaitou | Kai | Male | Mexican Grey X Timber | Beta

"How would I ever hope to build a pack if I'm always attacking first and asking questions later?"

Simple logic. That was all it was. And Kaitou had overlooked it and said what he did. The large male's mind became a muddle of confusion for a moment, as he buried the slight feel of shame that came from his careless comment and the obvious answer from the dark alpha. But that was only for a moment, and Kaitou's attention was back on the alpha in the next moment.

"If I treated you with the manners my mother taught me as a pup, I'd be telling you to get away from me you stinking sack of fur!"

'A stinking sack of fur, eh.' chuckled the tricoloured male inwardly. The alpha's words made him wonder about his past, although Kaitou didn't worry much about it, instead concentrating on the dark male's next words. Everyone had a past that they were unwilling to reveal to others - Kaitou himself was no exception - and the large male guessed that his alpha was probably the same. He would listen if his alpha decided to tell him about his past, but he would make no move to ask about it otherwise.

"However, I am nothing like my family, so instead I will treat you with the manners you've shown me. I am called Demon's Pride, although you may just call me Pride."

The dark male's first words set a small grin on the tricoloured wolf's maw, his brown eyes twinkling slightly with amusement. His manners weren't the most exceptionally good. In fact, one could say that his manners were bad to the point of rudeness, due to him always forgetting to introduce himself either until the other party introduced themselves, or when he finally remembered. "Nice to meet you, Pride." Kaitou murmured the customary reply, before moving on quickly to the new topic which the alpha had started.

"Now that that's taken care of, if you'd like, I can show you to the pack den? It isn't much, but it is more sheltered than here and the cold doesn't really permeate the thicket all too badly."

"That sounds good." the male replied with a nod of his head. He wasn't cold - his thick fur made sure of that - but he greatly needed a walk after sitting down for so long. Stretching his cold-stiffened limbs as he slowly got to his feet - or paws - Kaitou barked, "Lead the way, Pri-...". His words trailed off, however, as a slow wind picked up, sending the scent of a nearby she-wolf into his nostrils.

Immediately, the large male crouched in preparation to spring, facing the direction where the scent was coming from, lips pulled back and revealing the sharp ivory fangs that rested in his jaws. "I know you're there. Cease your hiding and come out!" Kaitou snarled. In less than minute, the calm wolf who had agreed to join Pride's pack as a beta was transformed into a snarling demon, hackles raised, fur bristling, and tail held high - though not as high as the alpha's - as he faced the unknown intruder.

Aailayah bit her tongue as the brute's voice boomed, piecing her ears. She was not one to indulge in such endeavors as to confront and interact with brutes let alone other wolves. Despite Aailayah seeming to be a rather withdraw individual, others did not intimidate her in the least. Her ears swiveled, her eyes flickering about her as she contemplated whether or not she should flee. Aailayah did enjoy her independence, the thought of depending on others brought great despair and melancholy to her; she knew she could rely on herself to survive through harsh, bitter winters, and balmy, blistering summers. She shuffled for a moment, her mind muling over potential downsides to the course of action she was about to take. The snow numbed her pads, crunching as the soil beneath the frost white churned, she gradually emerged from the cover of the thicket.

Aailayah shook her coat briefly of the white flakes that rested on it, dissolving minuscule drops of water as she vigorously attempted to rid herself of them, sending a fleeting chill up her spin. She looked up, sensing she was before the two brutes she'd been observing from the cover of the thicket moments before, her amber eyes staring into the taut and uneasy brute's that stood baring his teeth. Her lip curled and she bared her porcelain fangs, snapping at the air indignantly, her hackles raised, and she stiffened, the fur on her back rising. Aailayah uttered a growl from deep within her throat, raising her tail loftily as she glared at the multicolored wolf that stood before her. She began, her voice sturdy as she stood unmoving, "Can I help you?".

II Male II Six Years Old II Alpha II No Love Interest

During their rather short conversation, the chill in the air grew until it cut through their thick fur like knives. Pride knew that within the next few days, the snow would be falling and prey would be even harder to find. Sighing softly, the alpha watched as his companion flushed with what seemed to be embarrassment before he pushed it away. "Nice to meet you Pride." He acknowledged the courtesy with a quick nod before his beta agreed to go to the den.

As he got to his paws to lead the way, Kai suddenly let out a low snarl, his hackles rising. Pride opened his mouth to question him when the intruder's scent reached him, pulling a snarl from his as well as he spun to face her, his lips lifting and revealing his own fangs. Something about the scent was nagging at him, but he pushed it away for now as Kai demanded that the intruder show themselves. A few moments passed before the white wolf appeared, shaking the snow off of her pelt and glaring at Kai. Her annoyed snaps at the air only served to amuse him, but it didn't take long for him to notice the fact that the white fur around her muzzle was stained in red. Nor did it escape his notice that her scent held a hint of blood and when the reason why hit him, the snarl that tore from his throat was bloody and violent.

"Can I help you?" Narrowing his eyes, Pride lifted his head and tail above hers, the constant growls rolling from his throat promising violence would break out eventually. "Not only did you intrude on land that is not yours, you hunted here as well?!" He stepped closer, his walk stiff-legged once more. His body language screamed that he was the alpha, and the darkness in his mind urged him to attack her, to kill her. However, he ignored it, his cold amber eyes pinned on her. "Yes, you can help us and explain what you're doing here!"

Her gaze shifted from that of the multicolored wolf's to the masculine dark brute. Aailayah's eyes formed little slits as she glared at the seemingly hostile wolf, she uttered a low growl from deep within her throat. Aailayah stood unmoving, however, she stretched a bit, rising to the height of the covert, shady brute. If she had not known better, she would have expected him to be an Alpha. Aailayah's hackles rose, raising her tail above the massive brute's, she bared her fangs, unfaltering as he bombarded her with various questions.

She shook her maw briefly as he interrogated her, snapping at the air before responding sternly, "You expect me to find my way in this place? I've barely spent several moons in this horrid place." Her amber eyes shone, staring into his she uttered a minuscule growl of contempt. "You dare not attack a fae, would you? I'm sure you have met to meet one who would annihilate a brute such as yourself," she shot back at him, observing his body language, her tail rose, unable to go higher. She inched forward, lifting her maw to the air, her chest heaved, she appeared to be as large as the shadowy brute, if not larger. She glared at him, awaiting his response.
