- Owlpaw woke up. She opened her eyes, even though it made no difference. The world looked empty to her. Yawning, she stretched out and flexed her limbs. Stiff as they were, she decided to confront the morning early today. Standing up fully, she felt the air for a draught of crisp air and the smell of other cats. She stepped out of her mossy bed and walked out of the apprentices den, changing her direction slightly as she brushed past a piece of the thicket. As she stepped out, she heard Nightstar say something about patrols and turned her head and ears to hear better what she was saying.
Border patrol. That was what she was on today. She smiled because she was with Fernpaw which turned into a grimace as she realised she would be with her mentor. He didn't like her and wanted to be rid of her as soon as possible. She dismissed the thought from her mind and smelled the air for Fernpaw. She found her talking with Ivyvine over by the freshkill pile. Not wanting to intrude, she went to where the rest of the patrol were gathering. She had just woke up and wasn't hungry yet.
She had ignored Longwhiskers orders, so she'd probably be annoyed with her more. She'd have to be more on alert for any punishment coming her way.
As the warriors discussed plans for the patrol, she kept quiet. It was at times like these that she hated being blind because they wouldn't listen to her, well, most cats wouldn't. She smiled as a very familiar scent wafted over to her and she heard Fernpaw's unique padding pattern. It was slightly bouncy. "Hey, Fernpaw." She said, "I guess we're on the same patrol again." She frowned as another, somewhat fainter, smell came to her nose. This time, she turned her head to look at Fernpaw whilst she was speaking. "You haven't eaten a nice juicy hare have you?" She teased. "Not before the kits and elders have even had a bite of the deliciousness?" She laughed. "You mousebrain."she said in a friendly tone. She wasn't insulting her, just having a laugh to lighten up the mood.
