Raven continued to trot through the forest, wincing at the pain
from Merle's wounds as he padded along.
Geez kid, what did you do to yourself exactly?!
Had a disagreement with a bear. It wanted to kill Illusion, I think.
I knew that much, runt. Why did you bother?!
Illusion may be a funny character, but he always ends up doing the right thing.
Take that back. That fool killed me in cold blood!
And why was that? You provoked him and fuelled the fire. It was inevitable.
Say what you want kid, i'm not changing my mind.
Our mind. Since you're unfortunately still here.
Are you done talking yet? I can't think with you blabbing on!
But why do you continue to hate Illusion, Raven?
Raven paused with one paw held up in mid-air. Stumped again. This kid had the logic
of an adult sometimes, and it was scary.
Because of how he treated me. I cannot forgive him. Not now.
Well, I don't hate him. But you do. We have to come to-
Some form of agreement, I know. But you can't change me.
Raven continued walking, the hostility slowly leaving him as this inner conversation
progressed. As much as he thought he despised Merle, he currently was Merle. There
was no escaping the kid, unfortunately to him.
But you are me, Birdy. And I am you. Strange, huh?
Don't get all poetic on me, brat. And don't call me Birdy.
How about...I give you full control tomorrow, under one condition?
And what would that be? I'm listening. For this one time.
Raven stopped and pricked his ears, as if it would help him to listen better.
The one condition is that you do not harm Illusion. If you do, I
can kill us both easily, or I will simply block out your control again. Got that?
Raven couldn't believe it. He was taking orders from a pup, of all beings. It was
as if Merle had beaten him in to submission just by talking, not fighting. Perhaps it
was because his 'father', Illusion, had been an alpha.
Alright. I accept.
