Charcoal continued surveying the area for Saphira, and he couldn't find her. The region was a plain, meaning that there most likely would be hardly any trees here, as it was basically just a barren, sooty landscape considering the fact that there was a Ring of Fire here like what you could find in the Beyond, or what you may call a circle of volcanoes, active or dormant. While he started convincing himself that these volcanoes were dormant and he had nothing to worry about anyways, he heard a large sound that sounded close to an explosion, but they kept repeating themselves over and over. Hesitantly, he looked over to see that the volcanoes were erupting. They had been dormant, inactive, for days, and finally they now decided to erupt! On the exact same day that he and Saphira had to be there? This was horrible. The only good thing that could come out of this was that if it was true that the Pure Ones' nested here, then their base and their camp would be destroyed as well as millions of their soldiers and members of their army. Though he wasn't worried about that now. For now he was worried about Saphira, for he could've sworn to Glaux that he saw an owl whom had looked just like her fall into one of the volcanoes. Flying up high enough to avoid the spurting lava, he looked into the volcano that he had saw the owl fall into, and sure enough, it was Saphira! He gasped, almost falling yeep as he saw her inside of the volcano, but quickly stopping himself. He flew down into the volcano, doing a powerdive like he had before whenever he had rescued Saphira from the water, and gripped onto Saphira with his talons, avoiding the burning hot liquid running down his legs and his talons as he did so. Instead, he just gripped on tighter, and flew away as fast as he could - which wasn't very fast considering the fact that he could barely support Saphira's weight. His turns were crooked and his paths were wobbly, but he managed anyways, soon finding a tree to put Saphira into which was quite a distance away from the volcanoes, but not far enough as to you couldn't see them anymore. They were safe in the tree for now. He gently let go of her down into the hollow and sighed. "I already saved you once, and now you make me save you again?" He frowned.
