duskclan 25 moons

[size=85]Fireflight felt satisfied after she laid her catch on the pile. Two mice and a rabbit. Not bad. Though her dislikeness for hunting still remined, it was hard not to let herself feel proud. She let out a sigh, stretching her stiff legs - she had been crouching under a root waiting for the perfect time to catch that rabbit for a while and it was quite uncomfortable. She heard Berrypaw's mew and her ears swivelled in the direction she was in, in front of herself. The beautiful tortoiseshell smiled, nodding. "Yes it was." She turned her head away when the apprentice started to talk to Seapaw, smiling on the inside. She remembered all these cats' apprentice ceremonies and it was great to hear how some of them were becoming warriors soon.

Since no one else was speaking to her, Fireflight decided it was time she deserved something of her own to eat. She picked up a thrush - small but it would do - and padded over to the edge of the camp where it was cool and shady. Fireflight settled down, curling her feathery tail around her body before starting to pluck the bird's feathers out. Her blue-green-and-gold eyes darted around camp. Cats had become mates over the moons, Melody was starting to fit in, friendships blossomed, Hawkthunder was now leader... It had been an exciting couple of moons. But just not for her. She wished she had someone to talk to right now, but she just didn't. It was a little lonesome, the way she went around her days. Did her duty when she was assigned patrols, made small talk through the forest, kept watch at night when it was her turn, and then when she came back to camp, she had nothing to do. She didn't even have an apprentice. It was frustrating but she lived with it and tried to make the best of things. With a small, sad sigh as she reflected upon all that, she took a bite, looking away from all the other cats now.

SEAPAW

    Seapaw gave a small jump as Berrypaw suddenly appeared beside her. Breathing out heavily and giving a small laugh, she scanned her calico denmate's face for signs of jealously and instead was greeted with excitement. Were her own eyes shining like that? She hoped so. "Berrypaw! Can you help me? I want to look my best but I can't reach the tricky spots." Over the moons Seapaw had come to see Berrypaw as a sister, someone she could rely on and give help to if needed. But Berrypaw's ceremony wouldn't be for two moons, would it? It would be great if she became a warrior beside me. The apprentice reflected, kneading her paws on the ground in anticipation. "That great oaf over there won't help," she added, flicking Hawkstar with her tail. Leaning closer, she murmured, "It'll be your turn soon. As for my warrior name, I have no idea. Seafeather, maybe? Just as long as Hawkstar doesn't give me a name like Seatinypaws!" Seapaw joked, letting out a mrrow of laughter. "What do you think your name will be, when the day comes?"

KESTRELFLIGHT
▬ ▬ ▬ WARRIOR TWENTY-FIVE MOONS

      The brute emerged from the tunnel, his achromatic face fixed an expression of pride. Oculars akin to shards of glacial ice watched over the occupants of the camp until that deadly gaze drifted to Thunderpaw. His tall figure strode across clearing to the apprentice. "Thunderpaw." The brute acknowledged the female with a gentle flick of the shoulder. "You have advanced far in your training and will serve your clan well with valiance." His baritone voice lowered as he stole a quick glance towards Melody. "Those born without the fierce, driven blood of the clan will need to be watched. The imminent of leaf-bare will decide where their loyalties lie." Aciculate ivories poked from beneath his raised lip as he rose from his stationary position. A silent rumble from within his abdomen coerced the tom cat to retrieve the small rodent atop of the pile. He bowed his head in a simple farewell before his paws carried him off the the said accumulation of prey.

      A purr rumbled from baritone chords as he escorted himself before Fireflight. "Greetings, Fireflight. Do you mind if I enjoy your presence while we feast upon the prey that Starclan has granted us?" Waiting for the she-cat to answer, he settled himself, umbrageous tail curled around his stark white paws. "I always enjoy when new warriors are introduced to the clan. Perhaps misfortune will cower when presented with this new delight." A sonorous chuckle escaped him. Grievous memories of his dear Rosethorn and the son that he never had the chance to utter his praise arose from within the recesses of his conscious. Like fine china treated without any delicate thought, the fateful moment shattered him. He was still picking up shards of what he had been before. "How have you been?" He inquired, any outward sign of grief had dissipated into the green-leaf air.

Ears twitching when he heard all the patrols returning and the noise level increasing rapidly. Still with eyes closed the white tom sighed loudly - his nap had been just too short. Holding his paws over his ears Stormwing tried to lower the noise - without success. Cursing silently he sat up, angry that he never could take a nap - even he needed a good sleep so good. The last two moons had been horrible. Not only all the things about the prophecy - and it turned around that his healing abilities had been increased, meant that he had earned Whisperhearts Healing too. But also Cedarstars death had hit the Clan very badly. First their deputy Ashfall and just a few days later Cedarstar in the flood. But with Hawkstar DuskClan had earned a wonderful and strong new leader, even Stormwing couldn't oversee that he still lingers with his new powers as leader - but the medicine cat was sure that he would turn out to be maybe a better and stronger leader as Cedarstar had been - later once.
Rising the white furred tom looked around, it seemed that Goosepaw had left the den after his mentor had ordered him to sort out the rotten herbs - what he had done pretty good after the scent, the storage are spreading. Shaking his head and stretching his back Stormwing only gave his fur a few licks before he left. The camp was full of cats settling down to eat before the big ceremony. There would be a few apprentices to receive their warrior name later. Smiling the skinny tom walked over to Hawkstar.
"I want to talk to you later, when you finished the ceremony. There are a few things that are important to speak about - just in case. And I would be pleased if you could tell the others from the prophecy to join. I first have to search my apprentice." Nodding and leaving the tabbys side again Stormwing turned around climbing up a little rock. "Goosepaw! Would you please be generous enough and join me?" he called out loudly over the whole camp, too tired to search him directly.

The patrol had been very exhausting, but gladly they had nothing to report back - at all nothing serious. Just a stale fox scent, but it seemed like he just had stray around for a bit before leaving further to the east, away from the Clan territory - which was really great. On the back the russet she-cat had been glad enough to catch a mouse that had stopped not far from the patrol. With the mouse hanging from her jaws the young she-cat entered the camp, alongside the others. Adding the mouse to the fresh-kill pile, before picking herself a vole and searching a nice place to sit down. Looking around Riversong searched for the silvery tabby pelt of Silentstorm. It took time but the she-cat had discovered her feelings for the tom rising over the days and now she really could say that she had really fallen in love with him - and it was the best that could ever happened to her. Her nose telling that he just had arrived the she stood up again, waving with her tail, for him to come over - his eyes unable to hide the joy about seeing him again. "Silentstorm! Over here. I have picked us something nice."

The hunting patrol had been really successful. Proudly Melody carried her own prey - two mice and a vole - at the pile. She really hasn't thought that her life would change in such a fantastic way. One day she just had been the loner, straying around. On the other she had found a home. Cedarstar had welcomed her very friendly and so did - most of the Clan too. Only Fogpaw and Thunderpaw had been very suspicious at her for the first days, but since she had to learn the ways of the Clan as student of Wrenfeather alongside Fogpaw the two finally get over their - starting problems - and the training sessions had been more and more fun. Most of her training - which mostly included learning the way of the Clan and a few new moves for battles and hunting - had been with Wrenfeather, since Hawkstar had pretty much to do as the new leader. To her StarClan had been very doubtful first, she just couldn't believe what this would mean to all her dead friends and family - but with Hawkthunder returning from his ceremony as Hawkthunder she lost all her doubts, eyes filled with stars and his whole appearance had something strange mystical about it, that there hadn't been any reasons to doubt any longer. The same day she joined she had met Shatteredstorm and it turned out that she had been living in the same twolegplace Melody had been born to - which was really funny in a way.
Training with Wrenfeather had just be lovely, he was such a kind hearted tom - and maybe the only one in the Clan who didn't immediately was angry about her humour (even she really did her best to hold herself back - sometimes not really successful, but she tries) and laugh about her chaos. Just too easy Melody remember herself of the many times she did something chaotic like falling into the freshkill-pile, or running into brambles and coming out with leaves all over her fur, or trying to get honey and ended being hunted by bees - or what ever.

For a moment the ginger tabby she-cat really had fallen deep in memories when a soft voice brought her back. Looking at her side she saw the right into the pleading emerald gaze Wrenfeathers that had went to be so familiar to her. Even she hadn't listened to his words - what she actually often did, of course not on purpose - but the rabbit in his jaws and his gaze said enough. Smiling the she-cat followed him to the sunny place he had chosen. Settling down Melody really hoped he missed her blushing when her fur brushed at his. Within the two moons she had really started to enjoy to be at the toms side, everything always had been so easy with him.
"mhhh, what do you want? I don't mind as long as I get at last one paw. They should bring luck - maybe for me too, but when I think about it. This guy one had four of them and no luck - well maybe no legs for me, then" she mewed, a big smile warming up her face when Melody felt that she was babbling again. Amber orbs somehow glowing cheerful.

duskclan 25 moons

Kestrelflight's scent was in the air before she saw his paws in front of her. Fireflight looked up at her clanmate with her wide multicoloured orbs. She smiled, whiskers twitching at the handsome tomcat. "Why of course I don't. Sit," she meowed silkily. The usually flirtatious she-cat had beem the quietest she'd ever been for these past two moons. Since she had no siblings and no close friends, she spent the days by herself, giving up on all the playfullness she tossed around. It was as if he'd read her mind; she wouldn't have to sit alone. She shifted to the side a little so she could look at him properly, strong muscles beneath her soft, bright pelt noticeable as she moved.

"Yes, I do too. I was just hearing Berrypaw and Seapaw talking about it," she answered warmly. She finished off her bird, swiping her tongue over her lips. She let out a contented sigh. Now she had a full belly and company. Fireflight licked one paw as she started to wash her face casually, her eyes not leaving the tom's face. She wasn't stupid and actually pretty smart when it came to 'reading' cats. He was sad about something. Fireflight knew it best not to press him into talking about it but she was gentle when she said, "How are you doing, Kestrelflight?" Her gaze was warm and kind and caring. She had a small smile gracing her lips and she had put down her paw, now finished grooming.

Keriae, I think I will have Oddpaw develop a crush
on Seapaw? If you wouldn't mind? I'll make it very subtle
for now, though :3}}

Oddpaw

The young apprentice, muscles well developed and hardened by his many moons of apprenticeship, sat up squarely, his orbs flickering around the camp. It was a nice new-leaf day, cats were scurrying across the camp with fresh-kill in their jaws, discussing the plentiful prey and soon to be warrior ceremony. Oddpaw, however, couldn't share in the innocence of his clanmates today. He was a prophecy cat. He sat upright, curling his tail neatly around his paws. Surely that meant he should act more... Chosen? Oddpaw was now older and stronger than he had been when he had first received his dream from the strange she-cat, and now he knew who the others were, for they had all confided in the clan leader, Hawkstar. The only problem was, finding out what it could possibly mean. Who were these enemies that the north wind would bring? Oddpaw shook his head to clear it, spotting Seapaw a ways off. He couldn't help but notice how stunning she looked, her fur nicely groomed, even without the help of Berrypaw he bet it would look fantastic. She had gotten bigger as well, and he would be honored to be made a warrior alongside her. She was one of the few she-cats he didn't mind, and was actually fond of. Oddpaw's tongue could sometimes get him into trouble, but he found his harsh words never present when Seapaw was. He rose to his paws, padding over to the two she-cats. "Hey, Seapaw. Excited?" He asked, referring to the fact that they wouldn't be 'paws for much longer.
The future lies before you;
like a field of fallen snow.
Be careful how you tread it;
for every step will show.

They'll judge you by your past;
Which makes it do or die.
Unless of course my darling;
You spread your wings and flii.

Sunlight filtered into the den, progressively growing brighter as the morning changed to midday. Finally the petite she-cat could no longer ignore the bothersome light, and heaved herself to her paws with a heavy sigh. The calico hadn't slept soundly for almost a moon now; tossing and turning, randomly waking up and being unable to return the comforting nothingness of sleep. She attributed the lack of rest to the loss of Cedarstar so soon after Ashfall, the little cat had never handled death well. But Fawnspot had found solace in a very surprising place; the reserved Whitewave had offered his shoulder to cry on when they ran into each other one evening out in the forest. Their silent exchanged had turned into a moment of bonding for the two cats as they sat side by side, allowing their sorrow to surface and dissipate. From that moment on, the calico warrior sought out the older cat for companionship, her gentle nature managing to wiggle way its into his heart. Once they had started to share a nest, actual sleep became rare as she found herself almost constantly uncomfortable. The few winks she did get happened when her pink nose was pressed firmly into the white fur, filling her senses with his presence and silencing the outside world.

A frown warped her delicate muzzle as her stomach seemed to turn in on itself, bile threatening to shoot up her throat. It had done this flip-flop routine every morning for the past half-moon, and yet again the warrior wondered if she should speak to Stormwing. 'I'll give it a few more suns before I bother Stormwing. He doesn't need any more stress, especially not when all I have is a bellyache.' Shaking her head, the diluted feline crawled out into the crowded camp. Her teal eyes skimmed over the present cats, searching for the two toms that demanded the majority of her time. It appeared that Whitewave was not back from his patrol, and Applepaw was no where to be seen. She had given the lanky apprentice the morning off as they hadn't been assigned to a patrol. He had earned a rest after being on a patrol and training every day for the past moon. She had made sure that he kept busy, and she wasn't disappointed with the progress that came from it.

Spotting the calico form of Shatteredstorm, Fawnspot approached her friend, a chuckle bubbling from her maw. "Because you don't indulge yourself enough." Warmth sparkled in the teal eyes as the pale she-cat settled next to the vividly colored one. Rasping her tongue over Shatteredstorm's shoulder, a purr already thrummed in her throat.

The limp body of a blackbird hung from Briarheart's jaws as he padded into camp, his heavy stride causing the carcass to swing from side to side. The muscular tom had a preference for hunting birds, as his bulk didn't really allow for chasing prey to be an option. The moment of hesitation as the avian tried to lift itself from the ground gave him the extra time he needed to launch his body into motion. The feathers clogged his mouth, hiding the small smile that rarely graced his scarred face; he had made the discovery that his best days seemed to correlate with the catch of a bird. Depositing the prey onto the already overflowing pile, the curve of his lips vanished so only a hint remained, the smallest of expression gracing the usually stoic face. Since being named deputy, Briarheart seemed to have taken a turn for the better. By being acknowledged and given the chance to provide even more service for his clan, the prickly tom had become more willing to smile, a little less sharp, and seemingly happier.

Golden eyes swept the partially filled clan, pride swelling in his heart, and instead of shutting the emotion away, he found himself allowing it remain. There were a pawful of new warriors to name, two of his closest friends had taken on mates, and the prey was running easy. He could admit that right then, life was good for the group of cats. Paws shifted as he turned, making his way over to Hawkstar, Seapaw, Oddpaw, and Berrypaw. Dipping his head in greeting, dark haunches dropped into a seated position in front of the leader and apprentices. Triangle ears pricked as he caught the last bit of Hawkstar's words to his apprentice, head bobbing in agreement. "I concur with Hawkstar; you have become a worthy cat to consider a warrior. As have you, Oddpaw." The rumbled words held a detectable hint of sincerity as Briarheart uttered the praise. His eyes glowed with a hidden smile before he shifted his attention to the tabby leader, "So my friend, prey is running well, and the river has returned to a normal level. Since Melody, no outsiders have been detected at the borders. And it seems certain cats are due for a ceremony. Who do you plan on naming today?"

"Goosepaw! Would you please be generous enough and join me?" The familiar voice rang out over the noise of camp, just reaching the ruffled tabby's ears as he re-entered camp. The burnt orange nose was wrinkled in disgust as his jaws hung slightly open, trying to weaken the overwhelming taste of rotten herbs. The dried or decomposing leaves had mixed together in one of the most unpleasant bundles he had carried to date, but the disposal of herbs was a normal task for the apprentice. Goosepaw's pale eyes snapped to the white pelt of his mentor, and the lanky tom shifted his direction towards the rock that Stormwing was perched on. "Ask and you shall receive, Stormwing." A small smirk played over the gaunt features as he came to a stop at the base of the rock, raising his chin just slightly to look up at the bi-colored eyes. Weariness seemed to roll off of his mentor in waves, and just being near the exhausted cat made the dusty feline feel the energy leech out of his limbs. While the white medicine cat had become much more proficient in his abilities, it seemed to take little stress away. Stormwing had been one big bundle of nerves for nearly the past moon, and had yet to have confide in his apprentice about whatever it was that had him on edge.

      @Pepper= It's fine :3 }}

      Stifling an amused purr at the dusky she-cat, he watch her groom down tufts of fur in efforts to get rid of the debris. The young apprentice had always taken his praise well, she seemed positive nearly the entire time they've trained together. As the masculine tabby rose to his paws, he met with his friend, Briarheart. The tabby tom had named his best friend deputy, and it seems that it had gotten rid of most of the splotchy ginger warrior's moodiness. "Thanks Briarheart, I'm naming Seapaw, Ashenpaw, Fogpaw, Thunderpaw and Oddpaw." Nudging his friends shoulder good-heartedly, he then was approached by the clan's medicine cat, flicking dark ears in response to the white tom's request. "Of course, I'm obliged to ask you what we need to talk about right now, but I couldn't possibly question a medicine cat." There was a hint of humour in his low mew, hoping it would lighten the mood a little. Stormwing had reminded him of the prophecy that meant trouble, trouble that the dark tabby tom did not want nor need in this buoyant time for his clan. Glancing up at the age-old Rock Pile, he flicked his tail to the medicine cat and his deputy, signalling that he was going to start. Reaching the Rock Pile in four bounds, he took a powerful leap up to the top, pausing for a moment to regain his balance. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather below the Rock Pile for a clan meeting." The dark leader's strong yowl was sure to reach all the ends of camp, gathering his clanmates together. He had done this multiple times before, but he knew that the exhilaration of summoning his clan would never grow dull.

      Waiting a moment for everyone to gather, he continued on with his speech. "Today we will welcome four new warriors to the clan, counter to all the tragedy that has happened, we move on." Those last three words were so reassuring to him, that he had to share with the clan. It seemed to carry countless amounts of meaning to it, so it had been used by him multiple times in the past. Waving his tail to beckon the line of soon-to-be-warriors, he leaped off the Rock Pile to meet them. "I, Hawkstar, leader of, DuskClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. They have trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as warriors in return." Looking down on the faces of those who he had seen progress in training, not to mention excel, his emerald orbs were glinting with affection. "Do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

      --------fogpaw
      {
      she-cat : 12 : apprentice : single }
      ------------tags : wrenfeather, thunderpaw, hawkstar

      While being pulled aside by her half-mentor, resentment seemed to brew in her chest at his praise. Proud of me? Honoured to have trained me? Are you thinking of both of us or just me? The young she-cat had her head lowered the entire time, refusing to make eye-contact with the beige warrior. She flinched when his nose touched her forehead, waiting until he padded away to let her head rise back up. The familiar sensation of joy was not so familiar anymore since Cedarstar had assigned Wrenfeather and Hawkstar to the ginger loner, but as soon as Hawkstar became leader it was mostly Wrenfeather training Melody. Fortunately, the voice of her best friend reached her ears as she looked up to see Thunderpaw's hazel orbs shining with excitement. "Yep." Thunderpaw was the only person she could be cheerful for, most of the time she has this look of dull interest to everything except battle training. But maybe she was actually anticipating the ceremony. Just then, the powerful rumble of Hawkstar's summoning rang all around the camp, gathering her clanmates together.

      Managing to gulp down a quick meal from Melody's mouse, she settled down where the line of naming apprentices were sitting. As her leader mentioned the past events in the last two moons, she was taking that time to smoothen down her fur, picking out bits of dirt and debris. When she was done, their dark tabby leader started mewing the familiar words used for naming warriors and beckoned the line of apprentices forward with his tail. Looking up at her leader, she responded to his question with, "I do."

      ✜ ✜ ✜
      I am startled by Hawstar's anouncemnt. I didn't know I was becoming a warrior today! I quickly give my chest fur a few quick rasps with my tongue and hope that the rest of my fur looks alright. I pad along with the other apprentices into the center of the gathering. I lift my face to Hawkstar, the muscular tom outlined against the sky. I try to keep my fur lying flat, but it's nearly impossible under so much excitement. Finally, finally I won't be a little thing. I'll be able to protect my clan without a mentor guiding me like a small kit. I puff out my chest in pride, proud to have made it this far, proud to recieve my warrior name, proud to have trained hard for many moons. As the familliar words of the warrior ceremony reach my ears, I can hardly stop myself from jumping up. Yes, I mew, I do.
