- Zhanne's eyes wandered lazily around the trees. A slight wind swirled through the infinite branches, seeming to whisper secretively, sharing truths and mis-truths around the forest. To her far left, Zhanne could hear a stream babbling away incessantly, and it made her feel calm and at one with her thoughts. And what were those thoughts? Several, careening around in Zhanne's mind, bouncing off each other as if they'd been swept up in a whirlwind. Constantly, Zhanne remembered her old pack, the life she'd chosen to leave behind, making her wonder whether her family was doing well.
A long time ago, Zhanne had been in a small pack. She'd loved it, and would forever cherish her time there - but change was a good thing. Or so she'd thought. She wished she could believe that she'd 'changed for the better', but in truth, Zhanne was no longer sure where she belonged. Right now, she was sat in her new pack's territory, as a young hunter. Zhanne truly enjoyed hunting, and though she wasn't the only hunter in the pack, she felt like she played a key part in the pack's survival. This was important to her because then she didn't feel like a dead weight like she had in her previous pack. But unlike the pack she was born in, Zhanne didn't feel as comfortable around the other wolves. They seemed nice enough of course, but the young fae always felt clumsy and awkward around the older, experienced wolves. Her happy, relaxed nature seemed lost on a few the others, who were often more concerned with showing off their strength and prowess.
Zhanne sighed inwardly. What mattered now was that they were her pack, and she would have to learn to trust them. With that, Zhanne nodded, finally forcing herself into an agreement, before she stood up, shaking pine needles and dead grass from her mousy gray coat. She licked her lips, and began to pad languidly downstream, making her way back closer to the center of the territory.
