Victorious Tribute
Tribute cocked his head. "Well... Happy... It's the feeling you get when you play and feel content, I guess..." The ebony stallion muttered, trying to explain the feeling to her. As she changed the subject though, he listened intently, before speaking. "No horse can survive being on their own for too long a time. Mares join herds easily, there is not a herd where mares aren't wanted, for that fact. Their snapped up the moment they don't have a stallion." He started quietly. "But for stallions, it's a different matter. If you cannot start a herd, or if you are too old to keep one any longer and you get booted out, you have virtually no where else to go. No herd would accept a stallion, that's too risky. Testosterone gets crazy high if there are two stallions in a herd." He explained. "The drive to get and steal mares would be a little hard to... control."
Then, he shrugged. "So the stallions that do not have a herd by winter-and you need a herd in winter, it's deathly cold without another-form little 'herds' by themselves, which are called bachelor bands. Basically, a bachelor band is a herd consisted entirely of stallions grouping together. There is a lot of testosterone, and fights break out a lot, but as far as things go, it's a group of horses to hang out with for the sake of hanging out with others. After all, in bachelor bands, we are all stallions, so there's nothing to protect, so skirmishes, though often, aren't very brutal. That is where newbies are trained to fight, and where older stallions go to when they no longer have their herds. Occasionally, a stallion in his prime, that has had a paticularly bad spring." He explained, before seeing the other, champagne paint mare from the corner of his eye leave.
Immediately flicking his ear over, he let out a soft nicker to that mare, curious and hopeful. The bigger the herd, the better the chances of surviving winter. Tribute knew that well. He looked at Dusk though, worried. "You... don't mind if we have more than just the two of us in a herd, right? I mean... No offense, but I want a big herd." Dusk was everything he could ever hope for, but no stallion would settle for just one mare. It was ingrained in them to get more. He waited quietly, hopeful that she wasn't one of those mares who had deep, scarring feelings towards others of her own gender. He had only spotted one mare like that before, and it wasn't too pretty. He really hoped the mare didn't take this the wrong way. "I mean, are you alright if I ask her to join my-our herd?" He asked, letting her have the choice. The more, the merrier, he would say, but if more mares just brought trouble, than he would just have to content himself with having one happy mare than a few unhappy ones. Which he hoped was not the case. He wanted a happy, plentiful, peaceful herd, just like any other stallion, after all.
Mostly just on rps now. XD
