long ago when a group of cats named caveclan split off from
the other three clans, leaving the lush meadows and marshland
forests for the crested peaks and rocky terrain of the mountains,
they found themselves living a much harsher life than they had
expected. though their reigning leader was determined and con
fident that caveclan could manage the impossible a not only sur
vive but thrive in the mountainous forests.

as times grew harsher and food didn't come as easily up in the r
ockies as it had in the forests below, the caveclan leader, ridge
star, presented a new law to ensure their survival. any sickly kits
were abandoned at the bottom of the mountain, cast out and le
ft to die, while kits that were weak were given until their appre
nticeship to prove their capability or they too were cast out at
the bottom of the mountain. since caveclan cats prided themsel
ves on their peak health and stature along with their physical p
rowess and strength, sickly or weak cats were deemed unsuited
for their way of life.

to live in the mountains of rock, where one misplaced step could
mean death, where one misjudged leap could mean a fatal injury,
and where the battle to survive is at it's harshest, would you survive?

life for caveclan hasn't changed much; prey is still as tough to find as ever, though considerably less nowadays for a
skilled caveclan cat than it would be for those forest-dwelling clans. since ridgestar implemented the new law many
moons ago, weak and sickly kits continued to be abandoned at the bottom of their mountain and cast from caveclan
ranks. while many still oppose the cruel law, the leader's who followed in his pawsteps had no choice but to enforce
it; convinced that it was Starclan's wish that they do so. convinced that this was their starry ancestors way of allowing
them to live and thrive in such a coarse and risky environment. over the many moons long before the current caveclan
leader's rule, the previous leader's had brought to light new laws as well; cats with fatal injuries or illnesses that did
not allow them to serve their clan were exiled, taken to the bottom of the mountain and branded with a small but
deep gash on their shoulder indicating their eradication from the clan and the apprentices must prove their capability
to survive once every six moons in a test.

but now, as the caveclan cats continue to survive thanks to the rules set in place, however morbid and unfair, a new
threat arises. there is a murderer among the masses. kits begin to fall ill, it is presumed to be a disease that seems '
to spread only to kits, while in reality it is poison at the hands of a dangerous killer. with the laws in place, the sickly
kits are taken and abandoned at the mountain's base and as the number of living kits rapidly decreases, the she-cat's
of the clan find themselves unwilling and terrified to bear kits of their own. what could this killer's motives be and w
ill the clan figure out the culprit is one of their own before it's too late?

territory overview ;; xxx
caveclan's territory expands across a mountain range,
consisting of deciduous trees such as pines and firs,
slate grey rock and bubbling brooks.

entrance to camp ;; xxx
the entrance to the caveclan camp is probably the most
eye-catching landmark in the territory. a large slab of
rock framed by a stream that runs just pawsteps from
the entrance

camp ;; xxx
the camp is rather plain, made up of a large spacious
cavern with a hole in the ceiling allowing a pool of
sunlight to filter in. gathering are held here, the lea
der takes their place on a high ledge in the cavern
wall. the entrances to the dens are scattered throu
ghout the cave and are all accessible from the camp.

the largest of the dens. there are various holes in the
roof of the den letting in sunlight, though when it rains
they often put piles of moss below to soak up the water.

apprentice's den ;; xxx
this den is smaller than the warrior's and more cozier.
like most of the other dens there is a hole in the roof,
often called a skylight.

leader & deputy den ;; xxx
the leader and deputy share a den, a fairly spacious
one with a slanted skylight.

elders den ;;
this den is on the smaller side but rarely gets compla
ints because of how much body heat fills the days
and makes it bearable to sleep peacefully.

nursery ;;
where the queens and their kits are housed. the den
is quite large and easily accommodates the mothers
and their families.
