A S H L Y N x H A N S E N
| DAUGHTER OF ZEUS | LOCATION: LIBRARY | TAGS: SAM, MARKUS & JJ | WORD COUNT: 451 |
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

indent"I'm not sure if I'll go to the party. It might be fun. You should think about coming." She takes a deep breath, running the tips of her fingers across the grain of the wood table. "Neurobiology? That is rather impressive, Sam. I'm sure you did just fine." She reassured him. He seemed rather unconfident in his intellectual ability. Ash didn't really understand that about him. She supposed she just saw the best in people, which was why it was easy for her to affirm him. By all means, though, studying pre-med was not easy. "O-oh. I did alright, I guess. An English major is probably easier than pre-med though." She lets out a chuckle as she rubs her forearm.

indentAshlyn suddenly senses a chaotic presence in the library. Well, by that, she saw Markus and JJ coming into the library. She had always admired JJ's confidence and free spirit, though she thought Markus was just chaotic for the sake of being chaotic. She couldn't blame them, given who their mother is, but it would have been nice if they would have waited two more minutes. "I think I'll go to the party. I expect you two will be menaces, as per usual, and give me a bit of a show, right? I don't want to miss the Kline twins' next great spectacle." Ash gives Markus a small smile as he sits down. It wasn't a well-meaning smile though. She definitely wanted to strangle him right now, but she restrained herself, and instead settled for giving him a little shock. Ashlyn sticks her right hand beneath the table, aims her palm at his left foot and sends out a little bolt of electricity, hoping he would take the hint. Or at least make a bit of a scene and get kicked out once again. She locks eyes with the boy afterwards and gives him a smirk. She lets JJ off the hook this time, figuring if Markus left she would likely leave as well.

indentYes, that was a bit ballsy for this daughter of Zeus, but she was, in fact, exactly that. A daughter of Zeus. King of the gods. She knew the power that was held with her lineage and she often chose to approach most situations lightly. Feeling too much was bad. She had learned that from a young age, but Ash couldn't help herself this time. She looks over at Sam and gives him a small smile. Ash knew that he wouldn't ever do something as bold as that and she usually wouldn't either, but she's been known to do some bolder things on occasion. Occasion, being the key word in this sentence. "Sorry." She mouths to Sam.

indent........................LOCATION: canteen, library TAGS: ailey, lia, markus, jj, ash, sam SON OF: ares QUEST: tartarus WC: 1.2k
    indent......................───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
indent...Reed's eyes sunk and he could feel himself shrinking into himself.
indent...He didn't expect to see Lia today, and her words felt as sad as she looked to see him. Of course, he didn't want to see her sad over what happened, and it was painful to think it was his fault. She had stopped him from leaving seconds earlier, and the air around them both felt tight and cloudy, suffocating almost. He knew she was trying to stop herself from crying, he had seen that expression countless times before when they argued or she was just sad over something. Lia was the type of person who was strong and wanted to appear that way whenever around others, and crying wasn't something she felt was strong. Reed knew her and wanted to just break down and cry with her in the cafeteria right then and there, but also knew he couldn't. Her words repeated in his head like knives being stabbed in his back as she stepped back from him, making a distance again. The distance felt further than it was between them even though they were so close as he stood there, and more than a few seconds passed before he finally decided to answer her question.
indent..."Sure, of course," he uttered, just loud enough for her to hear as he stepped back once more, creating more distance. He watched as she drew her attention to Ailey, who was probably more confused than Reed was about his English assignment. But in reality, Ailey looked sad as well for some reason, but Reed didn't put too much thought into why. It was probably the sad atmosphere around them or seeing her close friend almost break down in tears in front of her. Reed wanted to stay back and comfort Lia, but he knew he needed to leave. He wasn't her boyfriend anymore, and we're going to talk later. Looking back, he saw the girl cry a little before composing herself. Reed felt a pit in his stomach and a lump in his throat, then looked away once more. Knowing he probably shouldn't have seen that he didn't look back again, as much as he wanted to. "God, I feel like an idiot," he thought to himself as the situation that just occurred with all of them ran through his thoughts faster than Hermes. Out of everyone he could've chosen in his English class, of course, he unknowingly chooses his ex's best friend to talk to WHILE they are hanging out.
indent...A literal nightmare turned into reality.

indent...Strolling farther away from them, he was reminded that he was still very hungry by the ever-growing smell of it coming from the kitchen in the cafeteria, and decided to go look at the options they were offering today.
indent...Reed was starving, and he needed to have some form of a distraction from the atrocity he had just experienced with his ex-girlfriend and her friend. His luck was extra bad today, but Reed thought about how maybe he wasn't alone in that department (lol Myles rip), which made him feel a tiny bit better. Sauntering over to where the buffet was, he picked out a simple meal that he could eat somewhere else. He didn't want to sit down and eat in the cafeteria knowing that he could possibly run into Lia or Ailey again at any moment. Plus, he didn't see anyone else in the cafeteria that he knew and could sit with. While he was in a relationship with Lia he limited who he was friends with, not because of her or anything, he just unconsciously grew more towards hanging with her rather than with friends. Maybe that was one of the reasons why they ended up breaking up. "Who are we kidding, there were a lot of reasons why we broke up," he thought to himself while grabbing the plastic utensils they had out for everyone to use. Nowadays he was just trying to think of everything he did wrong, he wanted to improve himself. He didn't know if he wanted to do that for him or Lia, but he knew something needed to change. Lately, he had been the most impulsive he had ever been, doing reckless things that got him in trouble or hurt, or just doing things he normally wouldn't do.
indent...Maybe that's where he should start first.

indent...Reed still needed to finish the English assignment that he wanted to ask Ailey about earlier, and decided he would eat his food in the library while he tried to figure out what the assignment was all about.
Making his way to the library, Reed thought about the party that he heard was happening tonight. He didn't know if he was going to attend, but with the Dionysus kids you never really knew what kind of party it was going to be, which made it kind of tempting for Reed to go. It's not like he had anything better to do, all he had to do today was an English assignment that odds are would go unfinished until he found out what exactly he was supposed to be doing. It was not a boring day after the cafeteria incident he had just experienced, but Reed knew he needed more fun to his day besides seeing his ex and her best friend while getting food.
indent...Out of the corner of his eyes, he found the answer to his predicament, Markus.
indent...Markus was one of the... crazier... ones on campus, though being the son of Eris, it wasn't surprising that he was. Both Reed and Markus were delinquents, though different in the term delinquent, whenever they found each other in one another's paths, it was always an interesting experience, to say the least. Markus was also a great guy to help with forgetting about every problem Reed had yet to solve. He was chaotic, but also charming to be around, which was the perfect distraction Reed needed right now. He was also spotted with his twin sister, JJ, who were both alike and different in their own ways. But Reed had found himself getting along with the pair in the past whenever they happened to interact. The pair were both extroverted, and although Reed was an introvert himself, they both brought out the extroverted side to him. Markus was also accompanied by Ash, who was in the middle of shocking the man -- probably due to something unpleasant said -- and Sam. Both of them seemed to be very annoyed at Markus and JJ, which gave Reed the perfect time to step in and save the pair, while also gaining a distraction for the bad start to his day.
Reed strolled over to the pair and exclaimed, "My favorite pair of twins!" as he wrapped his arms around JJ's and Markus' shoulders. Looking at them and then over to Ash and Sam, he greeted the other pair as well, "and Ash and Sam." Hopefully talking to people he enjoyed being around would lighten his spirits, and he would be able to have some fun today.
indent...Reed grinned while asking, "How is everyone?"

THOMAS FLORENCE
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXTOMMY. ECONOMICS MAJOR. SON OF ARES. QUEST LINE: THE MIST. LOCATION: GYM/DORM TAGS: RAM, DEMETRIOS.
    ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
xxxxxhe'd progressively noticed that ram would look at him just as much as tommy would look at ram. when their short journey ended and ram pressed his lips up to tommys cheek he felt his brain short circuit. when he did it again and tommy still hadn't replied he felt his stomach drop, like he'd just looked over the edge of a very tall building. "yeah," he managed to barely speak, "yeah i'll come pick you up tonight, say 6 o'clock? if i'm early we can just chill. looking forward to that outfit, pretty boy." he felt like he was running on autopilot, barely able to concentrate on the words coming out of his mouth.
xxxxxthat smile, he thought as he took his leave as soon as the door closed on him, gods if ram ever looked at him that way again he'd do absolutely anything for him. granted tommy also knew ram was going to torture him with that smile if it was the last thing he did.
xxxxxonce he was inside his dorm and a familiar stench of young adult boy, not yet a proper adult and not as musty as a teenager filled his nostrils. he sighed, chucking his bag from his shoulder onto his bed and as he passed by the foot of demetrios' bed he spoke at him, voice louder than it should've been. "what's up dude," he used a fake american accent that was horrible, he extended all of his vowels and sounded more australian than american. "how's it hanging in here?"
xxxxxhe kicked open the bathroom door as he gathered up products his sister had given him before he came to halfblood university, mostly far too expensive shampoos and conditioners. "you heading to that party tonight?" his voice echoed from the bathroom as he fumbled at the sink. the shirt he'd neglected to wear coming back from the gym was thrown haphazardly into the wastebasket by the toilet.
xxxxxit got him thinking, as he stood in front of the mirror, salt still sticking to his upper lip, he'd had to clean up, or at least, at least invest in an air freshener if ram ever came by, or if luck was on his side that night, if ram came back with him after the party. of course demetrios would throw a fit, tommy had done it to him a hundred times at this point so it'd be a right spoonful of karma for him. the state of his dorm room was in shambles, clothes were strewn about and a few questionable items were littered around both of the boys.
xxxxx"i'm just bugging ya because i might have someone come back here afterwards, i know you'll try and be Odd about it." tommy's hands were pressed against the sink's basin as he looked over himself. a few scars littered his chest, basic training ones, most demi-gods sported them, ram probably does he thought, before shaking his head wildly, a blush forming over the bridge of his nose and tops of his cheeks, like a sunburn.
xxxxxhe looked fit. no. better than fit. he didn't feel the need to dress up like ram said he would. besides, he certainly didn't need to outshine his date.
    xxxxxdate.
xxxxxthe word rolled over tommys mind like a tidal wave.
xxxxxtommy was going to the dionyusus kids party as rams date.
xxxxxit'd be better if it was boyfriend, but still he digressed.
xxxxxonce he stepped into the spray of the water he got to thinking, was there anything else aside from black jeans and black shirts that he could wear? he might step it up and wear different coloured socks. maybe he needed reeds help with deciding outfits if he'd done the same with ram.

indentRam bit his lip as Tommy spoke, hating the fact that he had to leave the other man’s side at all. His mouth slightly fell open when his date called him pretty boy. It wasn’t like he didn’t know or that no one else had called him that before, but Tommy calling him pretty boy just hit differently. The small demigod was desperately trying to calm his racing heart as the door shut behind him. A small wave of excitement and relief washed over him, he was alone in the room so there was no one to tease his little excited dance. Not that it would’ve mattered anyway because he would’ve done the dance regardless. As he was calming down his eyes traveled to the corner where a male spirit sat, “ Hhh, I thought I told you that you couldn’t stay in the room! It’s weird to watch people sleep! I’ll make you leave if I have to!” The spirit stood and walked towards the son of Hades, ‘No. No, no you won’t.' Shiram groaned as his eyes darted to the bathroom door, “ Fine! Stay but you better close your eyes and turn around when I get changed!” The male spirit answered solely with a nod and moved back to the corner by his bed.

indentIt didn’t take long for him to grab a towel and go into the bathroom to shower. Though he had taken his sweet time in the shower, after he cleaned his hair he made sure to clean every inch of his body three times. After he got out of the shower, he quickly dried himself off before pulling out a blow dryer. When he got to his bangs, he faltered. The son of Hades rarely felt true insecurity over his appearance, the insecurity only made its ugly presence known when he looked at his scars, more specifically the one on his temple. He lifted his damp bangs off his forehead, eyes immediately going to his right temple. A soft escaped his lips, directing his thoughts away from the attack that gave him the scar. Any time he thought of the attack, it reminded him of how weak he had been. The other two scars, he was less insecure over. One came from his second weapon practice after receiving Soulkeeper from Hades, the two-inch-long scar was on his outer right thigh. The other came from the first time he had played capture the flag at Camp Halfblood, the scar lay right below his left shoulder blade. He shook his head to clear his mind and went back to drying his hair. Shiram styled his hair so that his bangs fell to the right and curved inward, whatever hairstyle he did, he always made sure to cover his right temple.

indentThe small demigod made his way out of the bathroom and quickly pulled on his black leather pants, “If I see you out of the corner of my eye looking at me, I won’t hesitate to send you to my father. ” Ram carefully buttoned the tight white shirt before glancing at the pink harness that would complete his outfit for the party. The harness was honestly a little annoying to put on, but it looked amazing when it was actually on his body. He carefully put the harness on and made it secure before rushing over to grab his eyeliner and lip tint. The son of hades carefully did his eyeliner before swiping the tint across his lips. A small smirk took its place on his face as he stared at his outfit in his mirror.

indentAdrien crossed his arms across his chest and rolled his eyes. A scoff slipping past his lips, “The more you detail what is happening the less I want to go even more. The only good part you’ve mentioned was the drinks. Also don’t think I don’t remember the last time I got drunk and you tried to convince me to dance on a table.” The tall man made his way over to the tulips when they asked for him to water them, muttering about how they changed their mind. His eyes darted back over to Max and mouthed ‘dope’ with a shake of his head. He let out a startled laugh, “I’d rather just give you the seven dollars if I’m honest. I don’t care about the drama because regardless of who is involved, I don’t know them. And before you go say something about stranger’s drama being even better, know I still won’t pay attention. But A+ for effort.

Anyone who didn’t know Adrien, that being anyone besides his siblings and the four he was friends with, would think he disliked Max and was being rude. But those who knew him were aware that it was just the way he spoke. The son of Demeter stepped away from the tulips, pointing a finger at them to stop their whines, “The roof? Why would you-nevermind, it’s you so I shouldn’t be surprised.” He held up his hands with a blank look on his face, "I don’t know your sister… But thanks for inviting me, I guess.” The tall demigod sighed, he narrowed his eyes as he looked at a few of the plants before he whipped his head back around to look at Max. A scowl forming on his handsome face when Max asked for one of the carrots. His eyes glanced over at the carrots, “Let me ask them if it’s fine, first.” Seiya made his way over to the carrots and bent down to their level.

He listened to their soft whispers and ran his fingers over a few of them. Adrien tilted his head to the side and stood with a sigh and a grunt. The tall male carefully picked up one of the carrots and whispered in a very gentle voice, well as gentle as he could sound, his apologies and thanks for its sacrifice. He reached forward and grabbed Max’s hand with his free one, he gently placed the carrot in the other demigod’s hand, “They said that it’s fine, but you have to promise to be careful. They also said that if you’re lying about it giving it to your sister, make sure to feed it to the pegasi stem side first.” Adrien wasn’t a fool, he knew he probably sounded a bit like a lunatic for caring about the concerns of plants that only children of Demeter could hear.

✦ ophelia ─── 「 001 」

Postby whispersome » Sun Dec 13, 2020 9:35 am

OPHELIA CHOI
[ 20 ] — [ She/her ] — [ Daughter of Hades ]
location. Studio ✦ tags. Abe, open

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Dust mites glimmered in the air, illuminated by the glow of the sun through the slits in the blinds that obscured the windows of the small studio where Ophelia spent half of her afternoons. The room was silent save for the scratch of her pencil (and occasionally eraser) against the canvas set before her. She sat hunched forward—most of the equipment wasn’t quite made for a woman of her stature—on a stool set up in the middle of the room, everything else around fading to nothingness as her focus honed in on the sketch in front of her.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ The studio wasn’t only hers, technically; it was open to any students in the arts department, but that wasn’t an exorbitant amount of students, and there were a number of other private studios for various purposes around this building, so Ophelia didn’t expect to be interrupted. Anyone who knew her through shared classes would more or less know that she was the de facto occupant of the studio on weekdays (and, on occasion, weekends).

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Until she’d become a student at Half-Blood University, Ophelia hadn’t been overwhelmingly used to constants. Between her mother’s work and Ophelia’s own tendency to attract attention just due to the divine blood that coursed through her veins, the Chois had traveled often throughout her childhood, never living in the same city for more than a year or two. The three years they’d lived in Portland in early adolescence had been an outlier. That was a city where monsters and half-bloods were far from the biggest oddities around—and even then, Ophelia hadn’t been able to live there all year-round, her summers spent secure but no less shy. Now, though… she had a dorm room (albeit one that she was only in half of the time), a studio almost all to herself, studies that followed a steady curriculum. Ophelia couldn’t complain—far from it—but something about it pulled at her soul.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Her grip on her pencil tightened, but she softened her strokes. Without her noticing it, her sketch—intended to be a simple drawing of an indistinct, average woman, something to practice visualizing faces without reference—had turned into a drawing of her mother. Memorizing faces wasn’t something Ophelia was great at (hence the impromptu practice), but she could recall the curve of her mother’s cheeks and the quirk of her lips, a smile Ophelia had inherited, as plain as she could the color of the sky on a sunny summer afternoon. Happy as she was that her current position meant her mother was in less danger, if any at all, Ophelia found nostalgia hard to combat. She lowered her pencil and traced a finger along the canvas, careful not to smudge her light linework.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ She was tugged from her reverie by the distant chirp of her phone. Ophelia leaned back from the canvas, feeling something in her back pop as she settled back into a (somewhat) proper sitting position. Her brow scrunched in confusion—she could have sworn she’d had it on do not disturb. …Then again, few people texted her to begin with, and her phone was all the way across the room, buried in her bag in a position where anyone except a demigod wouldn’t have heard its muffled notification, so she could have simply forgotten. It wasn’t odd, but it was a bit annoying.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ She took a moment to stretch the feeling back into her numb legs; pins and needles crept from her ankles to her thighs, and she patted her knees with a wince. Once the feeling had dissipated, she slid off the stool, which teetered in her absence. Ophelia stilled the earth beneath it rather than righting it, already halfway to her bag. As she walked, she was again grateful for the lack of any watchful eyes, given the way she stumbled and swayed with each step. She winced; perhaps she should have had her phone out after all, if only to set some timers to get herself to stretch more often.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Finally Ophelia bent and fished her phone out of her bag. Her fingers fit awkwardly around it—another indication that she should have been stretching more—as she thumbed at the screen to unlock it and then navigate to her texts. Only one message, as she’d expected. It was from a number she recognized from somewhere but didn’t have saved in her contact, and the information contained within—about a party being held tonight—was enough to let her know why in an instant.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Ophelia’s face twisted automatically, her mouth twitching up into an instant grimace. A party, especially one that involved Dionysus’s children, was very far from her comfort zone—but she couldn’t disagree with the celebratory nature, as she was quite proud of her work on her midterms. And if there were going to be a lot of people there, perhaps someone she knew and got along with would be there for her to latch herself onto for the hour or two she would be able to bring herself to stay. Empathy nearly overwhelmed Ophelia sometimes, but the majority of it was on an emotional level; predicting others’ behavior wasn’t as natural to her.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ Outright asking was likely the play, but Ophelia didn’t know who to ask—though it wasn’t as if she had a wealth of options. She ran through the half-brothers (still an odd thing to think about) and acquaintances she had in her contacts. Shiram attending was almost a given, especially if the guy he’d been hanging around and talking about as of late was also going. Mercedes was nearly definite as well, although she would perhaps be more difficult to stick with all night long, particularly if Ophelia planned on sticking to her usual strategy of tucking herself away in a corner, swathed in shadow, all evening. Kinnick… maybe? And the same went for Abraham.

‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ With a slight frown, Ophelia hedged her bets and sent a screenshot of the message (captioned with a simple ?) to Abraham. Then she sat back, absently rubbing her wrists. Whatever her plans were for the evening, she’d have to ice them back in her room for a few minutes first. And fetch that half-done sketch while she was at it—her mother would surely like to see even a shaky picture of it.

        ROBERT HARLOWE━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
( goes by rob )xxxxxx ( son of hermes )xxxxxx ( currently in leo and ben's dorm ) xxxxxx( tagged: leo, bray, myles )

xxxxxxRobert grinned as Leo inspected the drawing and deemed himself the more attractive of the two. “Whatever helps you sleep at night, man. Or well. Not sleep in your case.” Robert couldn’t deny it. He had always found Leo’s smirk to be pretty infectious.
xxxxxxRobert was one of those people who never seemed to stop smiling. Even when he wasn’t flashing his big bright grin, you could see it in his eyes. The way they lit up with amusement whenever he was around his friends and they were planning to do something incredibly stupid again. Usually, it was something completely insane that he and Leo had come up with as a joke during one of their many long nights and then roped everyone into, much to the headmaster’s dismay. Like that one time they got Ram to let them into the morgue and channeled Shane and Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved, with the exception that the two of them knew ghosts and spirits actually were real and could try communicating with them via Ram, which made it a lot more fun. Thankfully, they were usually very good at not getting caught or in the worst case – good at talking themselves out of it. The latter was especially true when they were accompanied by Bray who somehow managed to get the chaotic pair out of everything. The fact that she still put up with them after all those years was kind of fantastic and Robert was grateful. She was one of the best people he knew.
xxxxxxAs if on cue there was a knock on the door and Bray’s familiar voice rang through the room. She let herself in before Leo could even register her, which made Robert snort. Classic. The two of them always reminded him of himself and his sisters back in New York who he missed like crazy. Robert bit his cheeks as Bray’s hand slid across his back. He looked down at her trying to keep a straight face. “Fantastic. What have you been up to, baby?” It never stopped being funny despite how stupid their little inside joke was. It was especially funny whenever anyone would assume that they were dating because every time they’d burst out laughing, confusing their poor victim even more. As Bray leaned on his shoulder, he found himself glancing back at Leo who had stood up in the meantime. He looked so boyish with his messy hair and mischievous smile. Rob lost himself for a moment, but quickly realized he was being spoken to again. “Hm?” He turned back to Bray. “Yeah, I mean. I’m guessing it won’t properly kick off until after dark as usual.” Before anyone could respond, Myles barged into the room.
xxxxxxMyles and Robert had never been too close, considering the fact that they were half-siblings, but always found themselves in the same social circles. Even though Rob didn’t really care how much he kept in touch with him, Leo seemed to be quite fond of him and even considered him his other best friend. It wasn’t that Robert had anything against his brother. Maybe it was just the fact that Myles was the spitting image of their father that threw him off. He could never quite put his finger on it, but Robert wasn’t one to start drama for no reason. He was quite content with whatever you could call their current relationship. “Hey,” he responded, confused by Myles’ uncharacteristic awkwardness. Myles quickly explained himself. Apparently, he was retrieving his belongings that he had left at Leo’s dorm last night. Last night? Rob met Leo’s eyes and raised his eyebrows. He didn’t say anything until Myles was out of the door again, off to write a paper for the economics class they both went to that Robert hadn’t even thought of starting yet. You could cut the awkward tension with a knife. “Well…. that was weird. What was all that about?” he asked his best friend. Something was definitely going on. Myles’ behavior was Odd with a capital O. Then again, he never seemed to be able to figure out his brother. “So that’s why you look hungover as hell? You sure you’re gonna be up for another party? After your wild night with Myles.” Rob was teasing, but, oh boy, if only he knew how wild that night had actually been. What he did know was that there was no way Leo would pass up the opportunity to make bad life choices. It was their specialty. The party was definitely on.
xxxxxxIt was kind of absurd that Rob went to so many parties considering he mostly just stood around listening to people or smoked outside. He had always been a people person, but never the type to be in the center of attention. Nevertheless, there was something intoxicating about the group events at Half-Blood University, beyond the fact that most of the time alcohol was present. He just couldn’t get enough of the energy. Deep down Robert just loved people and loved being around them. Seeing them let their guard down when others weren’t paying attention or when a drink gave them some courage was extraordinary. He’d always bring his sketchpad to parties and kept it in his pocket in case the muse struck. And it usually did, which led to him having like a million little sketches of his classmates doing rather mundane activities like laughing or dancing. Being half god was very cool, but Robert had never cared much for it. He was too in love with humanity.
xxxxxx“Oh, I heard there’s gonna be a bonfire. Great opportunity to flex your skills.” Being best friends with the Hephaestus kids definitely had its perks. Bray was basically his personal armorer at this point, and they collaborated on new designs from time to time. Not to mention, he got a front-row ticket to all their pyrokinesis tricks, which was quite possibly the coolest thing he’s ever seen. He still remembered when Leo showed him his powers for the first time back at Camp Half-Blood and Robert had no words to describe how awesome he thought it was. It was without a doubt one of his fondest memories. Sometimes he swore he’d do anything to be able to relive that moment.

indentLeo leaned against his dresser, hands grasping the top edge. He knew this party wasn't gonna go without it's drama, as did every party on campus ever. He just hoped it didn't get too crazy. He also just hoped that no one ever found out about his own little drama that he had locked away inside him, otherwise he would probably combust. And no. He wasn't being dramatic. It would most certainly ruin a certain friendship that he didn't want ruined. Cough, cough. Rob. Cough, cough. He probably already ruined his friendship with Myles at this point. He had no idea how he was gonna fix that one. If they ever met face to face again, they'd probably have to have a conversation. A conversation Leo was most likely never going to be prepared to have. He'd probably just brush it off with a joke and forget it ever happened if possible. Which was most definitely, not possible. Yet, he liked to convince his brain that he could get away with this. Just for the peace of mind until he had to actually confront his horrible life decisions and irrational judgement making. And if on cue, his door burst open for the third time today, and in came Myles. He felt his blood run cold, like someone had dumped ice right into his brain.
indentLeo immediately started choking on his own spit.
indentHe tried to play it cool by patting his chest and leaning against his desk in the most unnatural fashion. He knew he looked like a complete idiot, but his brain was running a million miles per minute and he honestly couldn't care less that his face was beat red. He just hoped that he didn't look suspicious. He probably looked like An idiot if he didn't look like he wasn't hiding something. Or maybe he looked like he was having a stroke. Whatever, he just hoped that Rob and Bray would ignore his reaction and focus on Myles busting in and looking frazzled as all hell. He quickly shot Myles a warning look, hoping he got the message to shut up and leave. Alas, the gods chose to screw him over by having him walk further into the room. Leo grimaced, his brown eyes flying to the ceiling as he cursed the gods above. Before he turned his head back down and hopefully put on the least painful grin he could muster.
indent"Heyyyyy, Myles. My pal. Friend. Whatcha up too hmm?" he said, crossing his arms and grinning very much painfully.
indentWhen he said he needed to get his things from last night, Leo had to restrain himself from facepalming and then shaking Myles by the shoulders. Which was honestly generous of him, since that was probably the most suspicious thing to ever be said in history. "Ahaha...Yeah, last night..," he said through his teeth. When he glanced over at Bray and Rob, his eyes immediately met Rob's. Gods, he wanted to look away. Instead they stayed glued there for a few seconds too long. His brain obviously not functioning properly anymore. Before he quickly tore them away and followed Myles through the room. He quickly kicked his dirty clothes on the ground to the side, before sliding back into his chair and trying not to sink right into it. Why did he have to come when not only his sister was in the room, but his crush as well. Oh right, Myles knew all about that now.
        indentLeo wanted death.
indentMaybe if he asked nicely enough, Zeus would smite him down right here and now. He rubbed his eyes, peeking through his fingers as Myles stumbled around the room and grabbed his things. Words tumbling out of his mouth from anxiety. Honestly, Leo would probably be doing the same if Myles wasn't already doing it for him. His brain was in full panic mode. It was also on no sleep, wired on caffeine, and hungover as hell. Which didn't really help the situation if he was being honest. Maybe Aphrodite was mad at him. Did he have any beef with the Aphrodite kids? He couldn't remember. He was just nervously fidgeting with a pencil he found on his desk right now. When Myles finally left and shut the door, Leo let out a breath of air he didn't realize he had been holding. Screw Myles being suspicious. He might as well put himself in that category as well. When Rob commented on Myles weird behavior, Leo couldn't help it. He burst out laughing. It was a strangled laugh, and a bitter one. But a Leo laugh nonetheless. He probably looked like a maniac. But he quickly shut up when he realized what he was doing, and instead readjusted in his seat. Clearing his throat before he began to speak.
indent"Yeah that was a little weird," he said. Leaning back into his desk and forcing another grin. He let Rob assume that they had just gotten up to a wild party instead of a one night stand with his half brother. "Screw my night partying with Myles. I'm always up for another party and more bad decisions. And by the way, you idiot, I don't look hungover as hell. I look like I could walk a runway."
indentThat was a lie. He looked like crap. But he was just teasing, and Rob knew that. Honestly, Rob was probably the only person that could actually get him to go to sleep. Otherwise he was either up all night coding, or staring at the boring ceiling waiting for his consciousness to fade into darkness. What he would do to fall asleep next to Rob, instead of laying in an uncomfortable dorm room bed all by himself. He shook his head out of his own thoughts, knowing he was just daydreaming about things that would never happen. Also, he knew that Rob would probably think he was absolutely insane for thinking those things about him. He was his best friend.
indentAnd yet he wanted him to be so much more.
indentHe needed to focus, and pretend that fiasco with Myles had never happened. At least Leo was good at jumping back from things like that. He was always good at cutting the tension in the room, or just shaking himself out of the own tension in his brain. Rob did it for him this time, mentioning a bonfire at the party. As well as his fire powers, thanks to his father. His memories of first showing Rob his powers were always his favorite. He knew that both Rob and him treasured their time at camp half blood.
indent"You just want me to light your cigarettes," he teased. Grinning as he leaned back and held up his hand, lighting one of his fingers on fire. The fire came almost instantly, as it was a small one and easier to control. Though it fizzled out as he put his hand down, which wasn't surprising considering his mental state right now. He always needed to have a clear mind when using his powers, otherwise they only got harder and harder to control. He learned that the hard way, the burn on his hands obvious reminders.
indent"We should do something pre-party though," he leaned forward. Lips curling up into a smirk as he locked eyes with Rob. "You wanna go steal some fireworks?"

          - - - - -He hadn't given much thought to going the big party tonight or not. His first instinct was to immediately accept the invitation. Sam had a lot of friends and he loved being around people, so it seemed logical. But he also wasn't sure if he was content with all the chaos that was bound to ensue. And he definitely didn't want to have to help keep people from setting themselves on fire or trampling their friends or something. Dionysus kids threw wild and unpredictable parties, potentially dangerous. And Sam wasn't quite responsible enough to handle all of that. But when Ash suggested he come along, he was starting to think maybe it was a good idea. What was the worst that could happen? He have a decent time and keep some people from killing each other? Besides, he'd be hearing about this party for weeks, probably. It'd be nice to have a little more context. He shrugged off her subtle compliments. Pre-med wasn't an easy major, he knew. It was a lot of science stuff that might not have been completely necessary and that he didn't necessarily enjoy. But he knew it would be well worth all the trouble once he actually made it into the medical field. He shook his head. "All majors are hard in their own ways," he said. "Don't sell yourself short. There's no way I have the attention span for all that reading. And have you ever read a paper I wrote? They're... not good. They're not good, Ash," he said with a small smile.

          - - - - -JJ and Markus interrupting them wasn't necessarily a bad thing, though Sam was certainly enjoying his time alone with the daughter of Zeus. But the situation became four times more uncomfortable the minute the Eris twins opened their mouths and started making comments. Sam wasn't the type to get flustered easily. Generally, he just enjoyed himself and easily let teasing roll off his back. But now Ash was involved and he didn't enjoy that. JJ's comments were probably the most annoying, he thought, even though Markus was definitely the more rowdy of the two. He just wished they could have left the two of them alone for a moment. Or just changed the subject entirely. "Hope to see you there, girlie," JJ said pointedly to Ash. "You never know what's gonna go down when the Dionysus kids are in charge," she added with a grin. "But probably nothing too bad, right? Just a bunch of drunk kids doing dumb stuff and throwing up, right?" Sam asked. JJ shrugged. "And maybe a fire or two. It all kinda depends. And Markie and me are definitely gonna be there, so there's no telling," she affirmed him with a smirk. Sam gulped at that. Maybe this wasn't the best idea. But if Ash was going, he didn't want to miss the chance to spend more time with her. And with his other friends, admittedly. And partying wasn't that bad. He'd just stay away from the drinks. One of Ash's hands fell beneath the table, but Sam didn't think too much of it. Until he heard what sounded like a power surge of some sort and witnessed Markus' reaction. He pursed his lips to keep from laughing, immediately grinning like an idiot at the daughter of Zeus and shrugging off her silent apology.

          - - - - -Another voice cut through the library, which was supposed to be quiet, mind you. But instead of it being someone who could match the twins in terms of chaos, it was just Reed, a slight relief for Sam. And, with any luck, the son of Ares would be able to drag these twins off on some adventure so he didn't have to deal with their teasing for much longer. There was no way Markus learned his lesson from a small shock. His desire to create chaos and discomfort far outweighed his common sense, Sam always thought. He gave Reed a small wave, watching as JJ sneered at the young man who'd just thrown his arms around her shoulders. She wasn't a fan of physical contact unless she knew the person pretty well. Years in the foster system and having people treat her like garbage because of all the incidents she seemed to cause taught her about caution. "Reed," she greeted coolly, lightly plucking his arm up by the wrist and dropping it back to his side so that he was no longer touching her. "The brother and I were just wonderin' if Ashie and Sammy were coming to the big party tonight. Think it might do em some good to act like normal people for a change. You in?" she asked.
