- werewolves, vampires, and humans.
over a century ago, humans waged war on werewolves and vampires. the vampires, who had been at war with humans long before the werewolves were dragged into it, stood their ground. however, werewolves were overwhelmed by the sheer number of hunters despite their superior capable abilities. the werewolves experienced the brunt of the war, nearly hunted to extinction by the humans. miraculously, however, the three species eventually came to a truce. they created a peacekeeping pact that allowed for the species to coexist in society. of course, there was plenty of tension and misconceptions of one another that remained at large, along with the looming reminder of all the bloodshed.
werewolves, especially, crumbled from pack-creatures to loners while they were still hunted, because larger groups were too easy to track. most werewolves in this day and age struggle with pack life, and so the social hierarchy of "alphas" and "betas" became a thing of the past; leaders were chosen by group vote, no longer by brute strength.
vampires were fiercely at war with humans for centuries before werewolves were hunted, mainly because of their food source. proud and often fueling their mutual hatred between themselves and the humans, they often jump from group to group in an attempt to find power in their social hierarchies. the oldest vampires are typically the most respected.
the vampires often fueled the werewolves and their grudge against humans, although vampires are typically seen as morally ambiguous, and much more individualistic, pointed towards personal gain rather than loyalty like werewolves.
humans are despised by, and despise, both groups. whether they chose to make amends for the war they started, or remain blissfully ignorant, is up to them.
while humans, vampires, and werewolves now live in small communities together, there are new uprisings in the air. someone anonymous set fire to the home of the vampire leader's house.
mistrust and fear are once again in the air. fingers will be pointed, accusations will be made.
there is a traitor among us.
