Beck started down into the dark coffee, heat seeping from the ceramic mug into his fingers. If it were any hotter, it would have been too hot to hold, yet the warmth was grounding. He took another long drink, quickly depleting the liquid in the cup. Coffee was something he'd grown to depend on, not something he drank because he simply enjoyed the taste. The bitter flavor wasn't something he necessarily liked, but had rather grown used to it. When his mug was a little over halfway empty, Decima came stalking into the kitchen and immediately headed straight to the pantry before returning with a granola bar in hand. "Well, good morning to you too sunshine," he replied in greeting, smirk quirking at the corners of his lips.

She ate quickly and in silence, so he didn't bother her. Beck just turned his attention back to his coffee, making quick work of the rest of the cup. When she mentioned the human, his expression went serious. "I'd bet she had company," he offered. In his experience, twenty-something girls didn't just wander the woods by themselves. Maybe he'd buy that she was alone if she'd been outfitted in hiking clothes with a backpack full of supplies, like she'd been on a hiking trip or something. Decima then went on to delegate the task of searching for more to him. "You got it boss." Beck wasn't usually quite this quick to do as his alpha said, but this time, he was invested as well. Humans finding their pack could spell disaster. They'd managed to live undiscovered for quite a while, and he liked it that way, so he was going to do what he could to make sure it stayed that way.

Beck walked over the the sink and set his now empty mug down before turning back to Decima. "I'll talk to Sterling and Reyna, get a couple people to come with me." He figured it'd be best if he went along with the patrol, keep a close eye on things. The humans needed to know they weren't exactly welcome around here, and he'd be happy to relay that information personally. He left with just a quick nod to Decima before heading back to his room to finish getting ready, with caffeine in his system now. He slipped a simple black t-shirt over his head and haphazardly brushed his bangs out of his eyes. Ready for the day, he set off to find the lead hunter and warrior.

xxxyesterday's routine hunting patrol had failed so spectacularly bad that sterling was pretty sure he could've brought back every deer in the forest- and he'd still wouldn't be in the clear. because their trip had ended up with them spotting a human, said human spotting them, and then everything went wrong. there's a some lonely, scared human imprisoned on their grounds, and sterling can't help but feel a little culpable. if he had just been more focused on the hunt, rather than the earth-shattering sound of a car crash, maybe they wouldn't have crossed paths with the humans after all. once spotted, he had done everything he could have to avoid a confrontation, but to no avail. instead of desperately trying to fix what he knows he did wrong yesterday, going the extra mile to prove him worth to the pack, sterling finds himself finding solace from his anxieties in benji.

xxxhe initially plans to give himself just a few minutes with the omega, but doesnโ€™t think that it hurts much of anything as the hours go by without much worry. if he isnโ€™t avoiding spending time getting chewed out by the alpha, though, then heโ€™s gleefully avoiding his problems by being around the omega. and the more time he spends in away from her designated cabin or crashed on the couch beside his boyfriend, the more this steep feeling of dread gradually edges its way into his chest with each passing moment. he realizes that at eight in the morning, sitting upright impatiently on his comforter, that oh, thereโ€™s the guilt.

xxxif itโ€™s not guilt, then itโ€™s something similar, some other heavy feeling of inevitable disappointment that sterling doesnโ€™t feel like placing, for fear of making it too real. his mind just keeps tumbling the same stale thoughts around in his head. sterling shakes a little and imagines the unbearable scenario of the alpha confronting him for picking up on the human's scent in the first place, imagines the scowl that his friends would have, and imagines what his own face would look like as he comes to terms with being revoked of his position in the pack. it hurts, and it scares him. all heโ€™s ever really known is his pack, relying on it to guide him and shape him into a person instead of doing it all on his own. the theoretical scene plays and plays in his head; decima being upset, there's the inevitable growth of ice in benji's smile and-

xxxno. maybe the person heโ€™s imagining looks like himself, but it certainly isnโ€™t him.

xxxsterling hastily gets out of bed and prepares himself for the day, uncertain, yet very aware of any consequences he has to face ahead of him. he brushes his teeth while changing into actual clothes, and decides that yes, making the bed can wait until he's done with his duties. but what can't wait, however, is a note he writes for benji, thanking him for helping him deal with everything yesterday, and is signed off with a stupid smile face that's far too lopsided to be made by an adult- but somehow is. he leaves the note on his desk, and slips out of the cabin with a set goal in mind, despite what the anxieties brewing in his mind tell him.

xxxtoo lost just brooding over the things he wishes didnโ€™t even happen, sterling allows himself ample time to cool down on the way to the alpha's cabin. time to float away from the stiffness the ash and smoke left in his pelt and clothes alike, and away from the thick, unaccustomed scent of humans still biting forwardly in his memory. mainly, he just needs a walk to refresh his head, to let the air dust away the rigidity of yesterday. and so, he takes the long way to the alpha's cabin; getting lost in the way the morning robins have just begun to sing their first song, mindlessly humming along with them.

xxxwhen he opens the door to the higher rank's cabin, there's nobody immediately on his case for being gone the night before. instead, he's met with the smell of coffee, and voices coming from within the kitchen. sterling takes a momentary pause to smoothen out his jacket, as if it will make him look more presentable, before being met with the beta head-on. and a wave of relief washes over him that he's talking to beck, rather than the cold glare of the alpha.

xxx"mornin' beck," sterling says, in a tone that's much more passive than it should be, "are we setting out the hunting patrol soon, or should the hunters be more focused on the whole- human thing?"

indentThe omega was one of the last few to eat in the pack. But that tendency leaked into other aspects of the omegas life. One of them was information. He was one of the last to hear of something happening unless he was directly present in said matter. So when a distressed Sterling came to Benji for comfort he was confused. It didn't take long before the topic of what happened came up, and hearing it was a human intrigued yet worried the omega. He knew the alpha hated humans and Sterling being the one to find the human made his worry valid. So for the night Benji tried his upmost best to keep his boyfriend at peace-crackling jokes, complimenting him, and playing with his hair. Anything to try and distract the hunter from the anxiety that plagued his mind. Seeing Sterling upset was enough to make Benji himself want to break out into tears [or maybe the fact that Benji himself was a crybaby but that was besides the point]. Night came swiftly for the two-falling asleep next to each other whispering anything and everything. Sterling was rather quiet that night, but that didn't stop Benji from rambling on and on to try and keep the hunter at ease. If he recalled correctly the last thing Benji whispered about before promptly falling asleep was about how tadpoles were weird [and he lives by this statement. Tadpoles are freakishly weird].

indentThe light filtering through the windows hit the sleeping omegas face and promptly started to stir him awake. Reaching out to try and feel for Sterling revealed nothing. Only an empty cold space. The omega's eyes opened in a rush when he confirmed that Sterling was gone. A whimper escaped him as he sat up and tried to locate where his boyfriend had gone-but it was to no avail. He wasn't in the cabin. But what was in the cabin was a little note. Benji picked the note up and quickly read through it with a soft smile on his face. The small smiley face at the end of the note was enough for Benji to swoon where he was sitting, his metaphorical tail wagging back and forth rapidly. He gently folded the note as he stood up. He would put it with the rest of the notes Sterling wrote for him. He had a hefty collection and he wasn't about to stop keeping them just because they were dating. He would never get tired of reading the little notes.

indentAs the omega started to get ready for the day he couldn't help but grow curious about the human. How did they find a human or far in the woods? What was it doing? Was it friendly? A large smile grew on Benji's face as he fumbled with his graphic tee-his head trying to poke through the armhole. He let out a soft yip as he nearly tumbled over the couch. Steadying himself he was able to properly put the tee on with a triumph smile. The dark jeans and jean jacket were quick to follow, but without the same struggle as before, and the omega was ready to go. Oh, wait-shoes. Hopping on one foot the omega just barely managed to put on the other sneaker before promptly crashing through his door and out into the hallway. He blinked in surprise before standing up with hands on his hips with a large grin on his face. Today was going to be good a good day!

indentMaking it out into the morning air was enough to give the omega a little pep in his step, springing down the cabin stairs and onto the calloused dirt. The omega could see the outline of some of the other pack members waking up and trailing outside. His eyes tried to see if he could locate Sterling but to no avail. He was most likely already with the Alpha. Which was something the Omega tried to avoid as much as possible. The thought sent a shiver up his spine but he was quick to brush it off and continue on his way. To where? Who knew. Sometimes the omega just went for strolls by himself around the camp. Made sure everyone was eating and wasn't too stressed out. That was his purpose after all.

tagged, the pack (? mentioned) |oc, idk where I am, or what I'm doing but I'm here-- also didnt proof read so oh well, 1,026 words

Night bleeds into day rather slowly for a medic who sleeps less than a wink through the night. With "burning the midnight oil" a quite literal phrase, Lysander found himself wasting his time away during the deadest hours of the night, when the rest of the pack was busy tucking right into their (rightfully) fitful slumbers. How ironic, the medic thinks as he dives nose deep into his cupboards full of herbs with the most dizzying of scents (-the varieties that often could be described as an 'old grandma smell', if he may humbly add), that during the time that the rest of the pack would've deemed to pass the quickest came the slowest for the Korean man. It must have been a luxury. To close one's eyes and simply wake up eight hours later with the sun fully hanging in the light blue sky once more. Though he could not say he just has never experienced such.... 'wonders' before, to say they were few and far between would have been an understatement in of its own. Instead, Lysander often takes short breaks and little naps in between busying himself with his daily chores- tasks that would have been left to a 'normal' person's next morning, that is.

Busy work that he busied himself with now. Even as the sun began to rise to light up the earth once more. Peeking his head from behind the cabinet doors, the steel-ish blue haired man squints towards the oncoming rays; they splinter through his half-closed blinds and create little lines of pale yellow light in between lines of charcoal-gray shadow. Sighing, the man closes the cabinet quietly, the hinges creaking softly as it gives under the pressure of being swung back across the well-worn path.

In his other hand held a single notebook, with its worn pages slightly crinkled from the way his fingers dug subconsciously into it. Scrawls of what looked like half-written words in dark ink adorned the lines, each one not-so-neatly (-but Lysander sure thought it was good enough) reflecting just what supplies were left in stock- and what would need to be replenished soon. Knowing how... rough some of his pack mates could be (-ahem, how maybe two particular pack mates could be), it had always been top priority to keep disinfectant and bandage wraps available on hand. Some day, he was sure at least someone would come limping in- probably bleeding out- even a large gash running down one of their limbs, hoping he could patch 'em up as he always did. He always did put his best foot forward for the pack (-maybe those like the lead warrior and omega, specifically). Lysander never regarded himself as 'elderly' or even remotely aging, but to some, he might as well have been a worrisome father, of sorts.

At the thought, the Korean merely grimaces. Setting his things back into their rightful places, the man swings the door to his room open and heads out of his quarters. Half way down the stairs, he realizes he hadn't changed from the previous night's 'fit. Just some hoodie he's been wearing simply because it's comfortable and slightly too large for his lean frame and a pair of worn joggers he wears around the office. He preferred comfort while he worked above all else. Though he forgot (-meaning more laundry for him to work out when he wears his comfort clothes out into the open), in the moment, Lysander decides not to back track. Instead, his thoughts become occupied with other matters- pack matters. Or maybe simply pack matters that didn't really pertain to him (in the slightest), but he enjoyed the chatter nonetheless; the medic couldn't lie, he often looked forward to his time left chattering away with someone like Reyna, who he wouldn't doubt would spill the details without withholding information. It's something he cherished, absolutely.

There's news going around that the pack was holding a prisoner though. A human. Prisoner. Another soft cringe. Just hope one doesn't bring in a whole bunch with them- of course they would though. Humans look out for each other when they're missing and held captive by some supernatural force only found in books. Right? Lysander briefly finds his mind wandering as his mind threw around questions at its own leisure- like who were they? Was it a man or a woman? Young? Old? Irrelevant details like that; ones that Lysander didn't bother to verbally ask when everyone was still hustling through camp to figure it out themselves.

Instead the Korean brews himself a piping hot cup of black coffee- medium roast? Dark roast? Didn't check the label. But the medic picks up his mug when the drip of the machine finally comes to an halt and takes it with him as he pads through the cabin. Lysander blows on it casually. Even as he slips on his sneakers and creaks open the door that separated him from the outside wilderness. Crisp air immediately greets the man, the steam rising from his mug more apparent than ever with the sudden change in both scenery and temperature.

Outside, Lysander speculates clearly. At the way his pack mates are milling about as they normally do- perhaps more so this morning than any, with the news of a new... arrival at their doorstep. He mildly wonders if he could meet up with possibly Reyna- or maybe Benji this morning for some news update. Though he figures both are likely busy with something this morning- maybe a task? Or perhaps the latter would be with the lead hunter.

Regardless, the medic settles down upon the steps leading towards the cabin and brings his cup of steaming coffee towards his lips, only to gently blow across the steam before attempting a sip. It's hot enough to burn, to be honest. But Lysander seems to enjoy it biting down his throat as he takes a gulp.

The wind picks up just slightly and instantly, the Korean man is reminded of his own quarters with the way the smells of herbs cling to his frame.

Perhaps he really should have changed into something fresh before stepping out.

What a view. Watching the sun rise along the mountains always met a warmth inside Hudson's heart. Seated upon the highest branch of his favourite tree, this place was always giving his best way to start the day. Often Hudson wakes up before the pack and wanders deep into the woods to this spot. Allows him to think over the day before, and consider the day ahead. His back was positioned against the trunk. His hands lightly caressed the bark as he stared out through the leaves to the great beyond. It was such a beautiful sight. The luminescence of orange and pink and red. The sweet scent of morning dew and oak engulfed his senses and Hudson couldn't help but take in a deep, content breath. The day before. What a day it was. Catching that human so far from their own inhabitants was certainly surprising for everyone in the pack, including himself. She was rather feisty but the news of one human meant trouble. Those damned things are like pests, find one and there are plenty more hiding in the cracks. He chuckled with a smirk as he felt lost in thought. His ocean blue eyes scanned the area but suddenly his head perked to voices in the far. Ah, the pack finally awakes. Glancing to the soft dirt below, Hudson stood on the branch, running his fingers through his soft, brown hair and the beta let out a begrudged sigh. As his muscles tensed and his body braced, he leapt from the branch and landed to the floor with a roll to absorb impact. Skidding to a halt on his knees, Hudson then stood, brushing himself off. Taking out a big stretch he let out a yawn-like yowel. Shaking his shoulders and relaxing his body, the wolf inside him slowly awoke. It hummed a gentle tune inside his soul. Hudson and his wolf were very much in sync, they shared a common love of life and fun. It begged to be released, Hudson could feel its excitement and adrenaline course. They both knew what it was time for. Hudson obliged his inner wolf and allowed it to take full control. He could feel his bones break and rearrange, back when he was young Hudson used to be in aggravating pain each time, but now it was nothing more than an ache. His powers opened and fur sprouted from them, canines forced their way through his gums and a tail sprouted behind him. Shaking off his body, the wolf snorted pushed its legs forward into a downward doggy stretching position. His white pelt reflected the light and he seemed to almost glow.

He yawns and shook his head as a relaxing method. Slowly he began to trot back towards their territory, then he began to break into a brisk sprinting pace. Darting and weaving through trees Hudson felt the wind rushing through his pelt. The dirt through his paws felt like smooth pebbles brushing along the pads. A small path had been made from Hudson's toying and growing along the same path to the same spot. It was only a 10 minute of an easy sprint until he reached the edges of the pack homes. Slowing to a subtle trot, Hudson made his way into the pack house and into the common area. He snorted and scrunched his nose, the scent of inside often ruined the scent it was back out in the fresh air among the dew and pine. He sat by the others, slowly they had begun to emerge from their rooms and discuss matters of the day. Hudson then stood and strolled into his room and shifted back. Changing into some comfy casual clothes he wandered back out and pulled up a chair, sitting on it backwards and resting his chin on the back rim of the seat โ€œI wouldn't mind going for a little adventure around the borders. If there is one cockroach, more must be close by mm?โ€ Hudson chimed in, he felt rather energetic today and needed to get out, this seemed as good of an opportunity as ever. Glancing to Decima he winked to her playfully then looked back to the rest of the group. He loved to play and tease and flirt. It was a normal thing the pack was rather used to at this point.

The rays were gentle and warm along Lorals skin. The soft material of the dona clasped in her delicate fingers. Her hair messed and sprawled along the pillow under her head, and her breath, slow and paced as she slept. Suddenly she was shot awake from a bad dream, Silent screams echoed from her throat but dare not be loud enough to be heard. In a hyperventilating mess, Loral placed a hand lightly on her forehead as she gathered her thoughts. Slowly a tear fell down her cheek but Loral felt no pain or sadness, not anymore. The nightmare had passed and she was awake nowโ€ฆ And she was safeโ€ฆ With a sigh, Loral threw off her sheets and got up, pacing around her room for a moment as she continued to gather her thoughts and bring herself to reality โ€œIt's in the past. It's over now.โ€ She shot her head to the window and continued to take deep breaths as she focused on every little thing outside as a distraction. Finally after a few minutes Loral had settled and managed to catch her breath. Changing into some soft, vibrant clothing she wandered out from her room. The pack was slowly livening up and everyone seemed to already be planning out their days. She sighed and etched on a weak smile. Lightly crossing her arms across her chest Loral moved along to the common area, her eyes locked and froze as she spotted the familiar dusty look and scent of that stupid omega.

Her mind naturally remembered back to the scene from her nightmare. No matter how hard she tried, that mutt always reminded her of those bad days. Maybe it was his gentle smile or his dirty, natural look. Whatever it was it always frustrated Loral and she knew no matter how hard he wanted to, the omega would never blow her cover. Self righteous damned brat. Loral snorted to herself with a slow growl. She stormed into his direction. As she passed him she forced her shoulder into his, knocking them both around until she faced him. Loral snarled and spat a remark to him โ€œWatch it damned mutt.โ€ her tone was fierce but quiet enough nobody heard or saw their interaction. Nobody knows of this side of Loral. She always ensures that her releases of aggression to him were hidden from the others she cannot give up the facades of bubbly happiness. Loral growled and pushed him back before turning and storming away. A smile returned onto her face, a little more genuine now. Though she hates it, Loral finds those kinds of citations of her only release of stress. Since she has such a delicate, fragile act to the rest, nobody dares want to play fight or wrestle with her. Sometimes Loral wishes she could just put away the actโ€ฆ No. If you do that, then nobody will stand you. Slowly, Loral nodded. She knew her conscience was right. Learning from a young age that a girl like her is a girl that nobody likes to be around. Nobody would want her if she acted how she wanted.

The steady notes of an early morning drifted into Penelope's quarters, past the shutters of an open window. The chatter of awakening birds, the forest encircling the pack's home teeming with wildlife, rustles and shuffles in the foliage โ€” a familiar atmosphere, made heartwarmingly domestic by mumbles of distant conversation, which she had pushed to the back of her perception out of courtesy. Living with the pack, or any pack, you were bound to hear something you didn't need to hear if you listened too intently, and having grown up in the life, she had been taught early on to tune out the discussions she wasn't party to. She was accustomed enough to her packmates' voices that doing her best not to eavesdrop came without much conscious thought.
indentindentA gust of fresh air disrupted the illusion of peace in the room, shifting the unfastened windowpanes as their hinges groaned, and the roughened wood and peeling paint of the jamb scraped against the sheer white curtains framing the window. Balancing on one foot, and then hopping onto the other, Penelope tugged on some socks and a scuffed pair of boots. Her balance wobbled and she bumped her hip against the old desk adjacent to the wall, sending a rattling shiver through that entire side of the cabin. On the off chance someone was still sleeping in on the other side of that wall, she whispered a quiet sorry to cover her bases, and made a mental note to sit down when putting on footwear โ€” which she would inevitably forget the following morning.
indentindentThe sun had managed to creep quite high in the horizon when Penny had woken up to the feeling of hunger clawing a hollow into her guts. Since then, the only thought on her mind had been a slice of Lys' herb bread topped with some venison. Once her boots were laced up, albeit a little lop-sidedly, she used her shoulder to coax open the door of her room. It had developed a tendency to get stuck after the second time it had fallen off its hinges. A tight turn took her to the cosy kitchen of the warriors' cabin, but a peek into the cupboards resulted in barely a handful of crumbs. She had a vague memory from the previous night, which involved raiding the place, and, well, thank you yesterday's Penny.
indentindentIn a truly Penelope fashion, the disappointment crooking the corner of her lip dissipated before it got a chance to settle in. She could just go and ask Lysander about the breakfast she was craving โ€” it was, after all, the most important meal of the day. With an 180 degree turn, she strode out the front door, letting it thump shut behind her with the weathered boards of the porch creaking underfoot. It didn't take much more than a cursory glance around the clearing to spot the unmistakable metallic blue of the medic's hair. He was seated on the steps of the first cabin, seemingly absorbed in a mug of something steaming, and the sight made Penny break out into a bright grin that lit up her eyes in a way that was much less hungry wolf and more excited puppy.
indentindentEyes still riveted onto Lysander, Penelope sped up her steps. But the concentration she desperately needed to make it down the stairs was stolen from her by an unfamiliar shout, which pierced its way into the already-preoccupied space in her head, straight past all the voices she was used to tuning out. Her head snapped into the direction of the shrill scream, just as she ran out of porch.
indentindentOnce the floor disappeared from underneath her feet, her stomach threw a cartwheel, awfully reminiscent of the time she had been hurled clean across the glade during training. Her chin hit the packed dirt at the foot of the stairs, and something inside her head most definitely rattled, or maybe that was just her teeth striking against each other. The rest of her body followed with a thud โ€” somehow entirely recognizable as a slab of muscle striking the ground โ€” which sent the air spilling out of her lungs. For a moment, her vision darkened around the edges, and her mouth filled with the earthy taste of soil, which gritted unpleasantly between her teeth. She had forgotten about the human. The prisoner. The human prisoner they had brought into the camp.
indentindentAir refilled her chest in a series of wheezes and other disconcerting noises, and she rolled over so that she was laying on her back instead of face down on the ground. Ow, ow, ow. I'm just going to look at the sky for a while, this is fine. But instead of an open blue sky, there was a shape in her periphery that was awfully reminiscent of Loral. Penny's tongue circled her mouth to make sure she still had all of her teeth, and once she was certain, she broke into a loopy grin.
indent"You look a little blurry around the edges," she stated, slurring slightly. "Did you know there are two suns out today?"

Sitting on the porch outside the cabin withheld the hunters and the warriors, she could hear many waking from their slumber as they moved around the cabin she could also hear the main cabin waking as well. Taking another sip of her coffee she sighed gently as she looked around the full scale of the campsite something was up today, though they had taken a human captive she sensed that they will try to find the others that may be lurking about their territory. She felt sorry for these humans as they had no idea what will happen today though they were likely missing their friend. The human unidentified trapped in a room to herself, probably frightened and baffled as she hasn't seen her kidnappers. The girl may be frightened when she does come across what they are, as the humans have no idea of their existence. Roxy wished they could just leave the human be and let her go back to her friends, this didn't need to happen but was anyone going to listen to her? of course not. But she wasn't going to be the one to blurt out her thoughts about the situation as she wouldn't want to know what the alpha may do to her.

There she saw the whiteish wolf enter the camp shifting into his human form she already knew it was Hudson even by the colour by his wolf. She had come to know her members even by the pelt colours. She watched as the beta entered the main cabin, the big house with all the high ranked wolves in. She wondered what they'll be discussing at this hour probably the human that they have imprisoned. Roxy wished to do something about it but no one would listen to a hunter and she could speak her mind. Her leg jittered nervously with her coffee in her hand almost spilling but she had almost finished her drink. The redhead looked to her cup and saw the coffee juddering inside that's when she stopped jittering her leg as she would be seen as uneasy. The girl huffed and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear taking in the morning sun on her face, she closed her eyes and looked towards the light that shone down on her and relaxed in its heat. Taking in a deep breath of fresh air as her chest rose and fell, the smell of pine, grass and coffee hitting her nose.

Taking another sip of her coffee a warrior had grabbed Roxy's attention as she made her way down the stairs of the porch to where she had sat only to see her fall as she missed the steps in front of her. Eyes widened at the blonde girl that had just taken a tumble unsure if she is hurt or not as there was some distance between the porch and the ground where she laid. "Penelope are you alright?" She asked concerned for the girl as Roxy pushed herself off of the steps and made her way down to her, she then knelt down beside the wounded girl looking her over from where she was. She had then noticed that Loral another warrior had joined the two on the ground. The words coming out of the blonde girl's mouth were somewhat confusing to her ears but she must have hit her head quite hard to be chatting nonsense. "Perhaps Lysander or Luna should check her out..." She recommended the medics to Loral as she looked to her for her opinion on whether a visit to them may be best for Penelope.

tagged, Penelope, Roxanne |oc, hi, I ended up cutting and rewording this entire post bc of misunderstanding, if the composition is messy, Im s orry- 1,022 words

It would have been a quiet morning to start off a busy day.

It would have been a quiet morning to start off a busy day.

It would have been a quiet morning to start off a busy day.

Except it wasn't going to be. Not in the slightest. And somehow Lysander knew from the start, with the way something tingled down his spine (-he once jokingly called it a medic's radar going off when one of his pack mates were about to do something dumb) and the thrumming sensation in his rib cage; something akin to a sort of anxiety, maybe. Even as the medic took another gulp of piping hot liquid caffeine, he somehow knew something was coming his way- or at least, coming up. Something was gonna happen. God, as he aged, the medic really was turning into something of a worrisome father- always looking out for the pack's well being with the full knowledge that some of his pack mates surely weren't the most... graceful, he'll say.

And happen, it did. In fact, it came out in a tumble- a flurry of missteps, if you will.

The medic ends up cut off from his thoughts when a solid thud reaches his ears. He's mildly glad for the distraction to keep his mind from analyzing far too deeply into the ache-y feeling thrumming through his being, but much to his dismay, he finds poor lil' Penelope actually face first planted into the ground. The man hop up onto his feet with no hesitation, sneakers hitting the soft dirt, almost-done coffee splashing precariously in his mug with the jostle of his arm.

Worry floods his vision, eyebrows knit with the knowledge of how that girl could be (-and he meant that affectionately, of course- as he did with his other fellow pack mates). Judging by her misstep so early in the morning, Lysander could either bet on the fact that she was either half asleep or just really excited for food; neither of which he could put it past the young woman. Oh god, imagine falling on your face all for the idea of food. It sounded so like Penny.

"Don't get up! I'll be right there!" He all but calls, setting down his mug precariously against the steps (--he's probably gonna end up kicking that mug over, if it doesn't tip over on it's own with how... oddly over the edge he set the poor thing) before hastily scrambling back into his cabin for his bag. Of course, it's just a small little sack of some essentials- disinfectant and wraps for bloody wounds and both herbal and modern medication for aches and pains; probably what Penny would need more at the moment. It's by the door.

But the Korean man races right past it and into his kitchen too, just knowing the girl would probably appreciate some food, judging by the way she always awaited his cooking (baking) with open palms. Though Lysander wouldn't exactly call it a passion of his to bake, finding the act of precise measurement, technique and then patience quite the burdensome task, the time it consumed was much appreciated late into the night. When the rest of the pack was asleep and there was not much else to do, that is.

He lets a loose chuckle, one full of amusement, flow from his lips from the thought as he grabs a couple slices of fresh bread from the plate still sitting out in his dining table (-good thing he has plenty of time late at night, huh?) and hastily slides them into a sandwich bag; some ice into another came quickly after. Neither of which were the most eco-friendly of options. (But did he really trust Penny with a plate right now? Not really- Besides, maybe she could reuse the bags later, who knows).

Lysander's quick on his feet (as he's used to being) and swings the door back open, food, ice, and bag in tow. He practically hops over his steps this time, making quick work towards the fallen girl. 'Scuse me, ma'am," he murmurs quietly, nudging Roxanne delicately with his foot as he plops down onto the ground next to the pair.

Peering down at Penny, a wry smile crosses his features; Lysander's sure his blue-ish fringes are falling into his face (he could feel the prickle of hair in his eyes, to be honest) as he peers downwards at the poor girl. "Quite the tumble you took there, huh? Does anything hurt aside from probably your head? Hope you don't mind--" the Korean starts as he delicately lifts up one of her arms to inspect it, scooting closer to try and assist her into a sitting position "Can you sit up for me?" he murmurs softly.

Waiting for Penny to settle a little bit more comfortably (hopefully her back- and butt, weren't too injured for that), Lysander wordlessly hands her the makeshift ice pack and packet of bread he (so generously) brought for breakfast. "Figured if you were so excited for anything, it'd be food- hope I wasn't wrong." he jokes breathlessly.

He pauses for a split second, as if to think. "Though I don't think bread is quite worth eating dirt instead," Lysander laughs genuinely this time, setting the packages down in Penny's lap for her as he turns to his bag for some herbaceous remedies. "Just let me know if anything in particular hurts, alright? I hope you didn't just earn yourself a concussion-"

Though the Korean man definitely hoped it wouldn't be too bad, he really would not put it past this chaotic pack to pull something fast on him on some random morning like this one.

Mhm, a slight correction. Maybe today wasn't supposed to be some random, oddly mundane day for the pack. After all, yesterday came the peculiar arrival of a human (who which was now held prisoner to the pack).

Strangely enough, Lysander almost partially wondered if he should be paying them a visit as well- just for safety and all.

That'd be for later- right now, his attention was focused on poor Penny.

โ”โ”As the sun rose above the horizon, bright light cascaded down into the valleys and upon the forests below. More so, it shined down on a particular camp which was home to a small pack of werewolves and while today was quiet at first, it would be that way for long. The birds sang their morning tunes, chirping and trilling. The insects buzzed and the occasional crunch in the undergrowth could be heard, presumably made by some mysterious creature that one should probably leave alone for the time being. It all seemed generally peaceful, but of course it never stayed that way for long concerning this particular pack. Atticus knew it all too well. As one of the hunters of the pack, he wasnโ€™t involved with many things concerning the pack besides hunting for dinner. But after a particularly recent event, this had changed - everyone was involved in this and one couldnโ€™t exactly ignore it otherwise.

โ”โ”A human had appeared late last night and the pack had taken her in as a prisoner. Apparently the alpha believed that others could be nearby - and he couldnโ€™t say otherwise, as it wasnโ€™t exactly normal for a single human to be wandering around the forest alone. Nonetheless, he could be wrong but he knew that the alpha wouldnโ€™t go without the idea of sending out a patrol at some point. Atticus currently stood in his room, staring out the window and absently running his hand through his hair. This could be bad news if the humans turned out to be something like werewolf hunters - though he heavily doubted anyone would dare try to hunt them. Heโ€™d heard of such tales before, but those ideas seemed of something of the past. No this was something different, it had to be. Dangerous or not, it was best they get to the bottom of this whole situation before something blew up.

โ”โ”Atticus finally pulled his gaze away from the window, turning to grab a nearby shirt he had picked out from the previous night. It was a simple black and gray dress shirt which would go well with his black pants and shoes. There was nothing special he was going to, but heโ€™d always dressed this way anyway. Perhaps heโ€™d go for something a little more casual tomorrow. Atticus grabbed a nearby comb on the dresser, running it through his hair a couple of times until he was satisfied, then heading out of his room humming nothing in particular. As soon as he got outside the cabin, he immediately felt the change in the air. He could tell the matter at hand had already been brought up recently, as a hint of tension could be felt. He noticed the beta alongside the lead hunter and noticed a few other members off to the side, why he wasnโ€™t exactly sure.

โ”โ”The hunterโ€™s gaze traveled over to where they were and soon spotted the reason. The medic was currently tending to a warrior, specifically Penelope. He couldnโ€™t understand how such a warrior came to be as she was hurting herself more often than not, it would have probably been amusing to anyone else who heard about it and they wouldnโ€™t have even believed it. Sometimes he couldnโ€™t even believe it, but with her lying there in front of his own eyes it's not like he could deny it. Blinking the male turned away and decided it was best to care for himself for the time being, until he was called away he had some time to himself. What heโ€™d exactly do he wasnโ€™t sure, but standing around doing nothing wasnโ€™t an option. He wasnโ€™t about to get caught up in something he didnโ€™t want to be in.

โ”โ”As he made his way back toward the hunters cabin, up the stairs and into the kitchen so he could get himself some breakfast. That would be a nice way to start off the day. He glanced over the room for a moment, trying to decide on what he exactly wanted for today. He decided a simple bagel and coffee would do, he decided. He selected a beige colored mug, pouring the coffee into it once it was done before taking his bagel and heading outside. Nothing like enjoying a nice, simple breakfast outside, with the fresh morning air. Taking a bite out of his bagel, he leaned back a bit and then took a sip of his coffee, momentarily forgetting about the current tasks at hand.
