generations after avatar aang fought for and regained peace after a century of war at the fire nation’s hand, a new threat has taken over the land. a masked thief, rumored to be a spirit slipped over from the spirit realm, has been permanently stealing the ability to bend from even the most powerful benders. making their way through the southern water tribe, then the earth kingdom, it’s only a matter of time before they take out all of the strongest benders in the entire land, leaving it defenseless against whatever this thief might be planning.

in an effort to protect the benders and their homes, the avatar has gathered a group of influential individuals, strong warriors, and benders with great potential. together, they plan to train, grow stronger, investigate this strange event, and eventually confront the bending thief once and for all, for better or for worse. it’s time to take a stand.

three — you can have up to two characters
four — there is no minimum word count, but maybe try to aim for a chunky paragraph. more is always okay too, but I understand people don’t always have the muse or time to write massive posts
five — ages and genders of your characters are completely up to you, just try to make them somewhat fit the role you’re choosing
six — cartoon/animated/anime faceclaims are preferred, though it’s up to you at the end of the day

born in the fire nation, this avatar had duty thrust upon them after generations of hard earned peace. still young, they are doing their best to help everyone around them. but, if the thief is targeting the strongest and most powerful, who is to say they won’t be next?

crown prince/princess of the fire nation

with the current fire lord trying to protect their people, the crown prince/princess was sent in their stead to assist and train with the avatar. having grown up with the avatar, they are on good terms. but, they have lived an entitled life so far, knowing nothing of want or loss.

southern water tribe chief

with so many benders already lost from the tribe, the chief had no choice but to come to the avatar after barely escaping having their own bending stolen. of all, they are the most vengeful towards the thief, ready to fight and give everything to stop them.

a healer from the tribe, they never learned how to fight, and never had any desire to. but now, with a threat on the horizon, they fear it may be time to learn, or to give up their healing to the thief, stuck in their old ways.

an expert in chi blocking and the traditional ways of the kyoshi warriors, they are a fierce fighter, as well as an invaluable source of information on ‘stealing’ bending.

one of the few existing air benders to be born after the near genocide of the hundred year war, they are intensely protective over their bending and their people. they just couldn’t bear to have their culture, their bending, lost to the world again.

having just had the honor of crafting their own sword, this prodigy is still learning, but picks up their craft very quickly. they are eager to learn all they can and, with any luck, become a legendary hero.

the sun hadn’t yet risen, but gin was up early, too restless to sleep any longer. he found that anymore, that old fire nation proverb, firebenders rising with the sun, hardly applied anymore. he beat the sun up, waking before even it’s earliest light could creep over the horizon. then it was to pacing the halls, haunting the courtyards and training grounds, trying to keep busy until morning ushered everyone else awake too. today, he had opted to meander through the corridors, wherever his feet took him, trying to get lost in the halls he knew by heart. of course, there was hardly a nook or cranny he didn’t know of the palace, having practically lived there for most of his life for how much time he spent there. and by the time he could feel the subtle pull of the rising sun, like energy humming in his blood, he made quick work of getting out to a courtyard to watch.

the sunrise was something gin could never get tired of. he didn’t know if it was the dragons, the sun warriors, way back in his ancestory, or if was just the fire in him, but there was something in the color and light, the heat, that resonated with him. when the sun first stepped over the horizon, throwing rays of light out into the darkness, it stole his breath away. today was no different as he sat and watched, the rest of the palace stirring to life around him. it seemed to hold even more significance now, with every sunrise endured another step closer to the downfall of the benders. unless they did something to stop it.


izumi rei || missing kyoshi warrior || earth kingdom || tags: open

being back in the earth kingdom after so long had been interesting, to say the least. of course, izumi hadn’t yet had the chance to make a visit back to her home island of kyoshi, but what was there for her anymore? she had no intention of going back to join the warriors there, though it would have been fun just to see the looks on their faces at a supposed ghost back from the dead such as herself. still, that fun was pushed to the sidelines in favors of hunting down benders, powerful ones, and izumi wasn’t aware of a single bender on the entire island, much less one of note. still, the greater earth kingdom area felt enough like home, and it was intriguing to see how things changed in the years since she had gone missing. besides, it was a rush like nothing she had experienced dueling the greatest earthbenders for their abilities. it went without saying that they always lost to her little trio, but it was nice to watch them struggle.

now, she gazed down at a map, one covered in slashes and marks, written all over. on it was their collective knowledge of the great benders of the world. not only the ones on their radar to target next, but the ones they had already siphoned power from, marked off with a slash. the numbers where still up, more to go then already finished, but they were dwindling quickly. and, rumor on the street said the avatar had done them a favor, gathering up so many powerful individuals in one place. though it wasn’t up to her to decide, izumi itched to move on from the earth kingdom, to leave the remaining benders and head straight to the steps of the fire nation palace. instead, she waited, bided her time, and listened to her leader, as a good warrior should.

as soon as filtered light began to warm the room, caiya's eyes fluttered open, taking in her surroundings. she had a hard time getting used to anywhere that wasn't her home, so she still found herself a little disoriented when waking up in the fire nation palace. the lavish decorations were a far cry from those back at the air temple. while her room looked nice, it was much more modest than the one she stayed in now.

stretching her arms over her head, she let out a yawn before getting dressed for the day. while staying in the fire nation, she had adapted a sort of hybrid outfit between this culture and her own. the cloth was primarily orange and yellow, keeping the colors of home, yet the style was much more suited to the fire nation. a simple pair of cropped black leggings were worn under her skirt, which consisted of draped panels, giving her more range of motion. her top was fitted, had thin straps, and fell just to her waist. the whole thing was adorned with gold trim and black accents. she tucked her hair into signature braid, loose pieces falling around her face. ready for the day, she headed out into the halls.
