Maya wasn't sure how to move on from the awkward standing around, unsure what to do next phase that the group seemed to find themselves in. She let out a sigh of relief when the female elf who introduced herself as Aelwyn pulled out a map and started asking their hero what he wanted to do first. She could see that he was looking a bit pale as Aelwyn continued to talk. Maybe he was still sick from the travel? She wasn't sure how he came to be here, not really that is, nor did she really want to figure it out. What mattered was that he was here now and the Bow finally had its champion.

Cocking her head to the side to get a better look at the map Maya frowned. The jobs that were listed seemed a bit basic, but considering he was new to their land he probably needed a crash course in how to be a hero. She quickly scanned the whole map making mental notes as to what towns needed what as well as what was marked around the countries boarders. Things had been stressful lately, so boarders were being tested by certain groups. She had seen her fair share of boarder disputes. They rarely ended up calmly.

Riah's decision to go get supplies for the trip was perfect. He really did need to get the proper gear. This was her time to shine. She highly doubted these fancy capital elves knew anything about long distance traveling and what would be best to get. She rubbed her hands together as she made a list of things they would need: clothing, jerky, water, light armor (she would not wear heavy armor unless she truly had to), a small pewter cauldron for cooking, blankets, tacks for the horses, horses... Wait did he even know how to ride?

"Do you know how to ride a horse?" Maya blurted out looking at Riah. If she had to do a quick lesson she could manage it, but it would be a hard crash course for the poor guy.

Aegis blinked at the exuberant girl who had popped up in front of him. Sivitri, huh?

"Hiya!" He grinned brightly, and quickly took her hand to give it a firm shake. "I'm Aegis! Glad to meet you, and glad you found me because I am completely lost!"

He clicked his pen a few more times, feeling slightly overwhelmed. Just in general there was a lot going on, and now he was finally meeting a party member. "Hey, hey! Do you know anything about armor?! Wait, no scratch that, uhm. Should we find the others first? Do you know them? Where should we go?!"

Click click click, as he was talking, another one came by, only slightly startling him. Avalon! Hi! I'm Aegis. Did you just call me sir? Wow that sounds fancy! No one's ever called me that before! Is that it? Is this us? No wait--four right?"

Distracted and disordiented, he began to fumble over his words as he clicked away distractedly, trying to remember. What had they said about the last one? What did the elders say? They hadn't been happy about him, right? Was it rehab? Eh. Close enought probably. Wait! Did they need to go to prison to pick him up?! He couldn't remember....

Right. Right. Click click click. They were meant to find him, so. They'd find him probably. Click click click. Right now he should focus on the people in front of him. "So uhm. Nice to meet you both. Do we--I don't know how this hero thing works--I've never been a hero-- they've got like magically magic and stuff? But that's not important yet I guess-- should we do icebreakers or did we do that?!"

Oh. This was a mess, how had he already managed to bungle it!?

Taking a deep breath, he shot them both an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I'm a bit distracted. We need to find the last one, right? Then do you mind if we move away from all the stalls? It's a bit much."

Tsutsuji blinked at the two newcomers. The first one was very loud, such a contradiction to the hero. She felt like one of the other tribes, but also like a restless sea. Interesting. She also seemed vaguely familiar. Had they met before? It was rare for him to meet anyone outside of his tribe.

Turning his attention to the newcomer, he was taken sharply aback. What was this spiritual energy? He couldn't get a good read, it wasn't familiar to him at all. Hot and loud like a furnace. Plus the personality... Ji wrinkled his nose, just as he felt a rustling under the mane of his mask. Nishi poked his head out of his fluffy sleeping place, clearly also started by the noise and energy in the room.

The little spirit guide quickly scampered to his shoulder, then down his arm onto the table, skittering over to the hero. Peering up at her, he gave the tiniest squeal before rubbing against the weapon and scampering back to Ji. "... a pleasure to meet you, Yaz."

He spoke quietly, probably the softest voice out of the three of them. "I am called Tsutsuji, of the Wolfcairn. My spirit guide is Nishi. We are glad to be of service to you."

With a stiff bow, he resumed his silence, waiting for his hero to inform them all of her plans.

He knew that the heroes would all have been given a list of tasks, though he himself was not privy to their details. Which was fine. To make those decisions was not his purpose. He would be her guide and healer in the same way Nishi was to himself. The squirrel had lved for much longer than it's natural bretheren, sharing with Ji's own lifeforce. It wasn't clear to him what they others were expecting of all this, however.

spacerThe newcomer arrived with the confidence and pep that made Royo grin as well. It was borderline arrogance that might annoy some, but, for her, those with cocky attitudes got into the most interesting situations. She could practically detect that he'd be fun to be around. However, once he spoke, she lost a small bit of that excitement. Shrimp? Excuse you, she wanted to say, but she kept the words to herself, using her limited tact for the moment. To be honest, she wasn't that offended, but would have enjoyed some friendly banter. Of course, it wouldn't do well to get all riled up on the first day of meeting her new... party members? Acquaintances? Friends? Whatever they were. As friendly as she seemed, she wasn't interested in meeting the new people for what they were: people. They were only her enablers for a new chapter in her life. Goodbye to sailing the seas alone and going to the places she had already been so many times. Hello to fights, creatures, near-death situations, exhilaration! She couldn't wait to see what things they would get up to. Her bones itched to get these introductions over with so they could go check out what quests there would be.

spacerSo, in the interest of time, Royo paid the newcomer no attentionโ”€ or at least, she would have liked to. In reality, she couldn't resist sitting up a little straighter and tipping her chin up the tiniest bit. Her eyes shone with enough defiance to be noticeable. But even still, she turned her gaze back to the spear hero.

spacer"Yazzz," Royo tested out the name, drawing out the last consonant. "I like it!" She grabbed her hand and shook it with aggressive vigor. The sailor did notice the lack of energy from Yazmin, and it puzzled her. Sure it was early in the morning, but they were going on adventures soon! Quests, quests and more quests! What could be more fun? The thought that her behaviour could be overbearing at all never crossed her mind. She was beaming just as, if not more widely than she was before.

spacerBefore she could turn to Ji, the spirit guide nabbed Royo's attention. She watched with obvious glee as the squirrel scurried about. It was like she had never seen one before. Which, she supposed was somewhat true. While she had seen countless squirrels in the wild, she had never seen a spirit guide outside of the one time she visited Wolfcairn. Come to think of it, she had seen a squirrel spirit guide there too. Huh, what a cool coincidence!

spacerShe held her tongue long enough to hear the masked man speak. Which was quite the difficult feat. His voice was very soft, and the sailor had to lean in to hear him clearly. Or maybe she was actually just so used to hearing her own loud voice. Speaking of which, as soon as Ji finished speaking, Royo began her rant. "Nishi, was it? He's so adorable! I love him already. What does he eat? Does he like fruits? I might have some back on my ship..." she rambled on and on, seeming to forget the others at the table. And her earlier impatience. Her focus had completely shifted from getting to adventures as fast as possible. Now all she wanted to do was get to know... an animal. Not even another human being. A squirrel.

A voice interrupting her thoughts Liv looked up, actually up, at a towering dark-haired figure that stood a little ways away. His black coat was tattered and muddied along the bottom making him stand out in such a lavish environment and he didn't have the ears and tail that Liv had been anticipating. Evidently this country wasn't just demi-humans, the revelation making a part of Liv wonder what other kinds of creatures were out there. That daydreaming would have to wait though, straightening her posture Liv glanced down at the simple plate of metal that marked her as the shield hero "uh-yeah, I'm Liv," she introduced herself hoping the waver in her voice wasn't too noticeable, "nice to meet you, all of you!" she added as she noted two other figures enter but keep their distance. Was there something in the water that just made men shoot up? Both towered over her and the other woman in the room, actually, if there were three people that meant she had her whole party right? A feeling of uncertainty settled over the hero as she looked over her party members suddenly feeling even more unqualified than she had before. All these people had an air of confidence around them meanwhile Liv felt like she was playing dress-up at a really elaborate renaissance fair.
The silence that stretched out was awkward, it felt like she was back at school forced to sit in a circle and do one of those icebreakers making up an interesting fact about herself. Running a hand through her hair Liv tried to smooth over all the awkwardness she was feeling with a smile, "I guess we could all start with introductions?" she suggested taking a few steps forward to close the gap between herself and the others, "My name's Liv, but I guess I said that already...I'm the uh-Shield Hero." she said feeling her nerves coming back. There was no way they hadn't noticed her strange behaviour, she'd already introduced herself twice and could hear the quiver in her own voice. Maybe she'd been more shaken by yesterday's events than she'd originally thought. Had she woken up in her own bed today would've been another boring day looking after the flower shop, taking calls from clients, and figuring out her schedule for the upcoming semester. Eyes flickering nervously between the three figures that stood staggered down the room Liv already felt guilty that they had volunteered to help a legendary hero and had gotten stuck with a mess like herself.

A firm handshake, a good sign that the Sword Hero wasn't as flimsy as his form made him out to be. Though Aegis seemed to be a bright individual there was a kind of almost chaotic energy surrounding him, energy that Sivitri understood all too well. As he rambled on Sivitri found her eyes falling to the slender tube that was twirled between his fingers, the material seemed to shine in the sunlight but not with the same intensity of metal and without the grainy texture of wood. Trying so hard to listen Sivitri glanced up at the sword hero, "I was just told to meet ya down here," she explained her question shining in her eyes. Fingers twitching the young woman fought her desire to ask to hold it, whatever it was, it seemed to make the most satisfying clicking sounds whenever Aegis pressed on the top. Maybe it was selfish but another reason she'd volunteered to join the sword party was the chance to talk to someone from another world, a world she'd probably never get to see.
A flash of red pulled Sivitri back to the present, hand shooting up to grip her club the warrior only relaxed when the figure apologize and introduced herself as Avalon. Leaving Aegis to his rambling Sivitri clapped Avalon on the back and looked up at her "Glad to meet you! My name's Sivitri" she declared with a grin. Most of today would probably be introductions but that was fine with her, these were her party members after all! After so many years of travelling on her own, it'd be nice to actually have people to talk to that wouldn't part ways a few weeks later. Turning back to Aegis, Sivitri's brow crinkled in confusion, icebreakers? There was no ice around here though? They'd have to go all the way up to Oskye to even come across a solidly frozen lake that'd be suitable for breaking. Shooting him a supportive smile Sivitri waved away his apology, true he was a bit strange but that must come with being from a different world. "Sure thing! Boss-sir, hero?" she said linking arms with both Aegis and Avalon, "I'm sure if we take a walk around we'll be able to find our last member." she added moving away from the town square. If only she'd remembered their last member's name...or really anything about them, yet another reason why Awhea was blessed without her as a royal guard.

The door bursting open to reveal another elf, probably their last party member, she was dressed ready for travel and clearly wasn't used to the larger cities. Though Lior could survive on his own the elf wasn't used to having other people to look after, well he at least knew Aelwyn was competent (if not a little young) so he'd really only have to worry about other two. Shooting a smile towards her as Aelwyn spoke, Lior was amused that she'd caught on. Not that it really mattered, he was here to make sure the bow understood what kind of world he was now in and let the counsel know what the party was up to. Maybe not now, but being a legendary hero Riah had a certain amount of leeway and freedom to do whatever he wanted and that could be dangerous, especially when it came to the delicate balance of politics. Watching the diplomat hand off the list of quests Lior was curious what Riah would choose to do.
Even in a moment of self-doubt, the hero was capable of making a decision which brought a smile to Lior's face. Following Aelwyn out of the room, Lior fell into step with the hero who still seemed to be considering his options from the slip of paper. Before he could explain what they'd apparently failed to tell the hero yesterday Lior was distracted by Maya, yes her question was important but not what the bow hero had asked for. Though if he couldn't ride on his own he could simply ride with one of the others until he grew more confident. The tall elf was suddenly curious, if not horses or other creatures how did people from the hero's world get around? Quelling the urge to ask Lior knew that there'd be a time for that later after all this was merely the start of the journey.
Heading further into town Lior looked over the shops and the trees that towered above them, remembering the first time he'd seen the capital he remembered feeling so out of place, a child with no family suddenly given a place in one of the oldest families. In those first few years, Lior'd had to learn quickly what his new lot in life would be and exactly what his guardian expected of him. Now Lior felt like he was home, or at least accustomed to the place he lived. Turquoise eyes glancing down at their hero Lior cleared his throat "I apologize if you weren't given a clear reason for being summoned yesterday," he began bowing his head slightly, "our world is under threat of terrible waves of calamity, he waves bring with them monsters that can leave entire cities in ruin and so we called you or I suppose more accurately the legendary weapon called you here to help defend the world." Lior's explanation was brief and he hoped that the fact that the weapon had called Riah himself into this world was a little comfort. What they were asking of a boy was a lot, but the bow chose him for a reason. "For now though those quests will help you get to know our world and how to use your weapon effectively." he explained with a reassuring smile, "We as a party will be here for you throughout your journey so know you can rely on us." he added hoping that his words were at least a little reassurance. As Aelwyn stopped outside one of the clothes shops in town Lior had to appreciate her choice. A fair price for starting equipment was necessary if they were to make the coin that the bow hero had been given last, at least until they finished their first quest and received payment.

It's hard not to think of Lord of the Rings as they leave the capital building and venture out into the city itself. Massive trees scrape the sky instead of buildings, and the dense canopies of leaves from each dovetail together to form a loose lattice which sunshine filters through. Many of the homes and establishments around them have been built around these trees, their elegant natural style merging effortlessly with the branches and vines around them. Bird song mingles with the subdued activity of the streets, and he catches the sweet musk of decaying leaves among the smells of bread and blacksmithing wafting from some of the shops. For a moment Riah forgets his anxiety surrounding his new job and is swept up in amazement at Amssari's grandeur. He always fantasized about living in the woods one day. Never in his wildest dreams did he see himself walking through an entire city that has become one with the trees themselves.

"Do you know how to ride a horse?"

Riah snaps back to reality as Maya asks him a question. He grimaces.

"Eh...in theory. I know how it's supposed to work, but I think horses have some kind of vendetta against me," he says, "I can never get them to do what I want them to."

Lior clears his throat, briefly butting in to bring the subject back around to Riah's previous questions.

"I apologize if you weren't given a clear reason for being summoned yesterday," he begins bowing his head slightly, "Our world is under threat of terrible waves of calamity, the waves bring with them monsters that can leave entire cities in ruin and so we called you or I suppose more accurately the legendary weapon called you here to help defend the world."

Riah's eyes widen slightly. Ah. There's that big problem he was looking for.

Waves of monsters leveling cities. Yikes. How is he, one dude with a magic bow, supposed to save them from something like that? Though to be fair, he's still not sure what this thing even does yet, though he might have some idea. Or he thinks he does. It's sort of hard to explain the feeling the bow gives him when he handles it. Even as it sits quietly on his back, some part of him in the back of his mind can sense the power contained within it, like delicate arcs of electricity traveling across his skin where the bow rests against his spine. Like the voice that spoke to him when he first came here, it's not something he can see or hear or feel with his normal senses. It's like the weapon is speaking directly into his mind, awakening senses he didn't know he had, and what he senses from this unassuming piece of equipment is that it's capable of more than he's giving it credit for.

"For now though those quests will help you get to know our world and how to use your weapon effectively," Lior continues with a reassuring smile, almost as if reading his mind, "We as a party will be here for you throughout your journey so know you can rely on us."

"Gotta start somewhere, right?" Riah replies lightly, "And thanks. I appreciate it."

He can't imagine what this would be like if he had to figure it all out by himself.

They arrive in front of a shop - some kind of tailor, apparently - and Riah is immediately reminded of how out of place he still looks here. Some elves passing in front of the store give their group subtle but curious looks, obviously trying to avoid being caught staring.

Yeah, I guess if I'm going to be traveling around this country and helping these people, I better look like I actually belong here.

What kind of traveling clothes should he even get with the stipend he was given? Obviously stuff that was going to be durable and give him freedom of movement. Maybe the owner of the shop can help him figure this out. And his traveling companions of course. Part of him feels a little embarrassed at having to ask how clothes work here, but he waves that feeling away as he reminds himself that no one really expects him to understand everything right away, and they have no idea how things work where he comes from. He could claim they're all nudists and they'd probably believe him.

The shop is warm and cozy, and strewn around the room are dozens of garments hanging on racks, folded on tables, or displayed on dress forms. Every piece seems well made and sturdy, though not lavish, which is perfectly fine by Riah. He's never been much of a flashy person anyway. The owner appears, and when the situation is explained to her, she wastes absolutely no time in whisking him away to find something suitable to wear, and just as quickly he makes it very clear that he doesn't want anything fancy or complicated. Just something functional. Thankfully she has plenty of that, and it doesn't take long to find a tunic, pants, and belt that fit him.

The fabric is thicker than he's used to, but surprisingly soft and light despite that, and once the tailor has made a few adjustments, they actually fit him better than most things he's owned in the past. Ok. He could get used to this. The tailor helps him find a simple canvas traveling bag to put his old clothes in which still leaves plenty of room for other supplies, and he finally emerges from the back, ready to move on to their next stop.

"I feel like I'm dressing up for Halloween," he says as he returns to the group and slings the bow back over his shoulder, "Minus the cheap plastic prop weapons, that is."

Well she was certainly lacking in confidence. Not exactly a smooth start, but not unexpected. Or something she couldn't eventually overcome. She just got here, after all. It had taken him time to adjust to Friola and their culture when he first arrived, and he'd only traveled up here from the south. Regardless of how different Awhea may be from here, it's still within the same dimension as Friola. She'd been dropped here from a completely different universe with a world and culture beyond the knowledge of anyone within Echoa.

He nods, holding his closed hand over his heart as a gesture of respect.

"Solace," he replies, "It's an honor to finally meet you."

He lowers his hand and rests it on the hilt of his sword as he turns to look at the others who have arrived. The other woman is even shorter than Liv, but the way she carries herself doesn't betray the same insecurity. She doesn't look especially formidable at first glance, but if she couldn't hold her own, she never would have been selected for this job. The other man carries a lot of energy in his body language, though it's hard to tell whether it's anxiety or excitement. Maybe a bit of both. Strange that neither seem to be demi-humans, but then again, he isn't always good at telling one way or the other. Some have obviously inhuman characteristics, but it's the ones with more easily hidden traits that always escape his notice. He glances back at Liv.

"Should we address you by your title, or is 'Liv' less intimidating?" he asks.

He has a feeling he already knows the answer, just based on her nervous behavior, but it never hurts to ask. Far be it from him to get on the bad side of someone with authority.

Sitting down by a fountain he enjoyed his last piece of jerky, man he had missed real food. Prison food was really as bad as they said. Looking up at the sky he began to wonder what he would do with his day, he knew he was supposed to meet the hero. But he really wasn't listening when they told him where they would meet and its not like there was a guard following him.

They were really stupid for just letting him go like that. Well, since meeting the hero was off his list now he had the whole day to wonder about. He had to find a way to get back home, nothing a carriage ride couldn't do. All of his stuff was sitting at his hide out, no one besides him could get in so there was really no worry or hurry of getting there.

Zero stood up from the bench stretching his arms, checking out the city for some hours wouldn't kill him, plus maybe he'd find a store with low security, nothing wrong with returning home loaded. He strolled down the streets looking through the windows of shops, he spotted a jewelry store with no guard outside. Approaching the window looking at the jewelry it was truly ugly, no wonder. But if all of that was melted down he could at least get a gold bar out of it, now that would sell for some good coin.

Mentally storing the location of the store he continued to make his way down the street keeping his eyes out for the guards, if anything he had to make it look like he was headed somewhere so they wouldn't think he was just messing around. He had to go as unnoticed as possible until he had a way out of town.

Sakura watched the interaction in front of her, the hero seemed to be pretty nervous, I mean if she got summoned to a new world she would be nervous too right? ..... lord who was she kidding, she would be all over the place if she was in that spot. She saw a shadow lurk up behind her out of the corner of her eye, looking over she saw a tall man had also entered, then that was all of them right? Certainly some things had to be worked out but it seemed to be a good beginning of a super squad.

As Liv turned to address all of them Sakura gently lowered the hood of her tunic making her face more visible, giving out a cheerful smile she approached the two. "Sakura, best mage in the world at your service" she chirped with a playful wink. She scanned Liv, she was really full of nerves wasn't she. Putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder Sakura offered her a bright smile "Don't worry you'll do great, sure there are a few bumps to iron out and some things to get used to but we'll be a super squad in no time."

Looking down at the shield that couldn't be so hard to use right? You just body slam people with it right? She wasn't an expert in weapons, hell she's never even held one, when they tried fighting with weapons in the fighting club they used broomsticks and that didn't go very well. Although she had about three hours of experience of beating people with a stick she was more than confident that she could train Liv, or at least help train her. Looking over at the two boys, both attractive .... so god does exist. One of them had to know how to use weapons right? She could be there for moral support while they did whatever shields are used for. If not she was pretty sure if she tried she could body slam someone... or maybe the shield could be used as a sharp frisbee?

        She liked that idea better.

Maya stopped in the middle of the road at Riah's response. Well this would make things interesting. She couldn't help but laugh when he said that horses had a vendetta against him. She wouldn't be surprised if they did. Amazing creatures, horses. She quickly caught up with the group and overheard what Lior was telling their hero. 'Spoken like a true politician,' Maya mused as she nodded along. When the group stopped at the tailor's shop she decided to spend a few coins for a new travel cloak. Normally she wouldn't spend that kind of money since she was traveling alone and didn't really care about looks, but she was now party of a true hero's party and knew that they would get attention. While she wasn't a vain person by any means she still wanted to look nice. So while the other two were getting Riah situated she wander over to the cloaks to pick one out.

There were so many colors! Royal blues, purples, reds, and even gold cloaks were hung on the wall. The one that caught her eye was the rich, forest green one. She ran her hand over it. It was light enough that it wouldn't weigh her down, but also heavy enough that it would give an extra layer of protection from any harsher conditions. It wouldn't give much warmth if it was heavily snowing, but it would still be better than nothing. The price was higher than she wanted - that's what you get for shopping in the capital - but considering how much she would wear it she could reason with the price. She pulled it down and headed over to pay. The lady was sweet and even gave her a small discount since she was party of the group who just spent a good sum of money for a whole wardrobe. Giving the lady a wave she excited the shop and easily caught up with the group.

Riah's comment about this Hall-o-ween made her curious, but that could wait for when they hit the road. She needed to figure out just how horrible he was at riding. The other two could help with clothing and such, but when it came down to picking out good, strong traveling horses that would more than likely land on her shoulders.

"Alright so horses aren't your best friends, but you do at least know your way around one. Right? At least the basics of how to ride?" She felt like she was grasping at straws. "Because unless we spend the coin to get a cart for you to ride in you're going to have to ride. Walking will take too long and will take most of your energy away as well. Riding will be the best way to travel. Now I don't mind you riding behind me and I think the other two won't mind either, but at some point you'll need to get your own horse." Maya didn't want to scare the kid, but she needed him to see reason. If they were going to be traveling as much as she believed they will be Riah would need to be able to ride. "Also do you know how to use any other weapon other than a bow?" It was then that Maya realized that there could be more things that their young hero did not know. Oh boy... He was in for a crash course!

โ—ˆ Bow Party โ—ˆ Elf โ—ˆ 84 years โ—ˆ Council Chambers -> Clothier โ—ˆ Tagged: Lior, Riah, Maya โ—ˆ
Once Riah instructed her to lead the group, Aelwyn headed out of the chambers, aware that Lior had fallen in behind her with Riah, leaving Maya at her side. Not that she minded-Aelwyn was glad that that dog wasn't trying to chat her up at the moment. She would have to get along with him for the team's sake, but it was too soon for that to happen just yet. The purple-haired elf was all over the place. Her energy was practically buzzing from her fingertips and the mention of shopping for supplies seemed to lift her mood up from the worry of arriving late and being in an unfamiliar city. She was about to as Maya where she had come from but was cut off before she spoke by Maya asking Riah about riding horses. His admittance that horses weren't always fond of him would make things more interesting if they were travelling by horseback was not a big shock to Aelwyn- at least he knew what horses were. What came as a bigger shock to her was the fact that no one had seemed to explain to Riah what he was supposed to do. Of course those old coots on the council wouldn't give him much of an explanation. An ignorant hero would be easier to handle and manipulate, and Lior was their special tool to ensure their plan didn't fall apart the minute Riah left Amssari. Though she hated to admit it, Lior provided an acceptably thorough explanation- given they were almost to the clothing shop. Not to her surprise, Lior was still buttering him up- serving up platitudes on a silver platter.

The shop she had brought the party to was one she knew had a decent reputation for quality goods at a fair price. Once they entered, she approached the shopkeep with a smile, aware of Lior's presence. "Good afternoon, we are looking to get our friend here some suitable travelling clothes. Do you think you have something that will work?" Once he was taken to the back, Aelwyn took a gander around the shop. There were many items she would like to have purchased, but it wasn't necessary at the moment. If it looked like they would be heading to the far south like Awhea or into the Oskyian territories, she could look to buy more appropriate clothing then. After all, she had a different purchase in mind for one of their later stops. As Riah's fitting was coming to a close, his mention of something called 'Halloween' caught her attention. However, she knew they were pressed for time and held back her question for the time being. "Thank you, that will be great."As they stepped back out onto the streets of the capital, Aelwyn glanced at the cape that Maya had bought herself. "That's a good colour. It'll look good on you." As the forest elf brought up horse-riding again, Aelwyn thought back to when she was taught how to ride. Her parents had (as per usual) gone the extra mile for Delenn, and she had been handed the leftovers- the horse her sister hadn't wanted was given to Aelwyn. She certainly wouldn't mind helping Riah learn to ride, especially if it meant they could travel more efficiently. Wanting to speak up before Lior inserted himself in the conversation again, she glanced over her shoulder to Riah with a warm smile. "Maya's right, we won't mind giving you some help. The more comfortable you get with them, the easier it will get." Her mention of weapons and fighting did raise a good point. She was comfortable fighting with her sword and magic, she knew Lior was capable of handling himself in conflicts, and Maya seemed more than capable, but Aelwyn wouldn't be sure until they got into a scuffle.

She continued down the road, towards the area's local blacksmith. Their standard clothes were good, but if they were going to be fighting the waves of calamity on top of their regular quests, it would be wise to make sure they were equipped with more than flimsy fabric. After they had travelled a few blocks, Aelwyn saw the building come into view. It had a small area out along the side of it for working the materials: a forge, a grindstone, a tanning rack, and a workbench were organized in a neat layout. Similar to the clothing shop they had visited, Aelwyn had chosen this location because she knew they needed to save their money whenever they could and this would offer the best price for armour that was still of acceptable quality.

The moment he's no longer occupied, Maya pounces, throwing more questions at him, warning him heโ€™d have to figure out how to ride eventually. He canโ€™t even be mad about it, though. Someone has to worry about this stuff, and she seems more versed in the way of the wilds than Aelwyn or Lior. Well, maybe he shouldnโ€™t be making assumptions, but at the very least Maya seems better dressed for traveling through the woods, and thatโ€™s all he has to go on right now. Everything is happening so fast; he has to look for shortcuts when he can.

He canโ€™t help but laugh at how intensely serious Maya is about him learning to ride on his own.

โ€Relax, I know the basics. In my world I actually spend a fair amount of time outdoors. We have a summer camp for kids outside of town, and trail riding is a field trip weโ€™ve offered once or twice,โ€ he says, โ€œIโ€™m not very good at it, but Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll get the hang of it. Donโ€™t worry, you donโ€™t need to hold my hand. As for weapons...โ€

He pauses and thinks about it as the group exits the tailor's shop and heads for the blacksmith further down the road. Heโ€™s fired plenty of bows at the campโ€™s archery range, but thatโ€™s about it. He can fire a gun - his dad taught him how to do that as soon as his little child arms were strong enough to handle the kick-back - but something tells him these people didnโ€™t even know what a gun is. So that isnโ€™t very useful. What else is there? Swords? No, he definitely doesn't know how to use a sword. Or a spear. Does a shield count as a weapon? Well, it doesn't matter either way, because he isn't sure he can use one of those either.

"Uh, no, I don't think so. Honestly, it's a miracle that I know how to use a bow. Most people in my world only know how to use one kind of weapon, and that's a gun, which I'm pretty sure you guys don't have judging by the...well the everything about this place," he replies.

Frend - The (Bounty) Hunter - Tagged: Rest of Spear Party

Frend couldn't help but notice when the shrimp tossed him that defiant look; it wasn't the first time someone had tried to pull off such a look. Though he had to admit, for someone so short, she did pull it off pretty well. He pushed down his glasses and gave her a look, her smile gowing a fraction of an inch till she looked back to their new boss. Pushing his glasses back up, he turned back towards Yaz.

"Guess that we are. Name's Frend, best bounty hunter this side of Stagwind. Pleasure to be of service." He gave her a wave before getting back to examining the rest of the party.

The shrimp he could read at a glance. Excitable, ready for adventure. Perfect adventurer material. And going by the defiant glare, she seemed like she'd be fun to be around. The tribal guy, apparently names Tsutsuji on the other hand, was a bit more of a mystery. He seemed oddly reserved for someone joining up for adventure; and going by his reaction to his arrival, probably didn't like him very much. Well, some people just couldn't deal with all of him. He'd either have to deal with him, or leave. Though he was a bit surprised by the sudden appearance of the squirrel suddenly popping out. He'd never seen one like that before. Must've been from the same mountains Tsutsuji was...

Frend pushed down his glasses as the shrimp started asking all sorts of questions about the squirrel like a little kid, as he felt whatever initial respec the had for the shrimp start to drop. He glanced over to Yaz, eyebrows raising, as he glanced back to the peanut gallery. Pushing his glasses back up, he turned to face his new boss.

"So then, boss, don't suppose you got any jobs lined up for us?"
