Heroes of Echoa- Full

In a world of warring races and magical abilities, some legends stand above the rest. Border disputes are common between the east and west, and the best relation between any of them is a fragile alliance based on a need to survive rather than trust. Echoa is plagued by waves of calamity, dark energy that manifests itself periodically and summons monsters of all kinds to ravage villages and wreak havoc throughout the land. Four legendary heroes have been summoned to Echoa from another world to protect the land and its people from these waves. They come from various backgrounds but are all now tasked with saving this new world.

Extra Information

Postby Espeon101010 » Mon Aug 03, 2020 7:23 pm

ritual magic

"as source of thy power I order thee..."

elemental
Elemental magics are channelled from the world around them, fire, water, air, earth, lightning, and ice. Calling upon one of these elements in battle you can use to attack or defend such as summoning a wall of wind or a fireball blast. Reciting the ritual chant instructs the element to bend to the user's will and if a user has multiple affinities or is partied with someone who had a different affinity you can use combinations to create more powerful attacks such as a tsunami (water and air) or lava shot (earth and fire).

light and dark
Also known as illusory magic when calling upon light or dark energy user's can hide in the shadows or blind people with brilliant light. Shadows can be made tangible and by manipulating the light around the user they, or their target, can become invisible to the eye.

support
Though not incredibly flashy support magic is used to enhance either the user's or targets abilities, physical limits, or skills. Potions become more effective and even passive things like plant quality or shield durability increase around the user.

healing
Healing is one of the more simple forms of magic, the more skilled the user the greater the wounds they can cure, and in combination with potions and basic medical practices greatly reduces recovery to hours or even moments. A branch of magic from healing is also purification that can dispel curses.

"defy the laws of nature and..."

four scared weapons

"chosen to safeguard this world..."

Chosen by their weapon and called to this world the four heroes together wield four scared weapons. Each hero can only wield their weapon and cannot abandon their sacred artefact. The exact properties of these weapons have never been truly quantified, though there are records of heroes being able to teleport to places they've travelled to before, know the exact time and location of the waves, and channel magic through their weapons. Some of the most powerful artefacts on Echoa their only weakness seems to be each other as the weapons and heroes appear to be unable to improve when around the others unless during a wave.

bow
In the middle of the curved limbs, a yellow gemstone adorns the grip. The bow has the "copy" ability. It can take the form of a crossbow, a longbow, or a shortbow. While the bow hero can fire arrows with their weapon, they are also able to shoot magical energy which has different effects than standard ammunition.

shield
A metallic shield sporting a green gemstone in the centre, a major trait of the shield is its "absorption" ability. What the shield absorbs will influence what the hero can do. For example, absorbing medicinal herbs and plants will increase healing capabilities. Even though it is an inherently defensive tool, the shield also has several offensive capabilities.

spear
The spear has a white metallic handle with gold accents at either end. The black metal in the middle of the blade, the edges are white like the handle. A red gemstone sits at the base of the blade which is the source of its "multiplier" ability. This allows the hero to deliver multiple blows with one swing. When thrown, the weapon will materialize back in the user's hands.

sword
A sapphire blue gemstone is nestled just above the cross-guard of the white, metallic hilt. Similar to the spear, the sword blade has a black centre with white edges. However, gold accents decorate the central ridge of the blade; the blade never dulls down. This weapon's ability is "accumulation"- the more times the hero hits their target, the more powerful and damaging their strikes become.

"wield these weapons as true heroes!"

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝐴𝑒𝑙𝑤𝑦𝑛𝑛 𝐹𝑎𝑒𝑟𝑖𝑡𝘩
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Bow Party Elf 84 years Council Chambers Tagged: Lior
The day had started off so well for her. She had eaten a wonderful breakfast (perhaps the last excellent meal she would have for a while), awoken early enough to fully prepare for what was to come later on, and truly felt ready to help the bow hero and Espia, but more importantly, Echoa as a whole. The decision had been one she had considered for a very long time. She had carefully assessed the pros and cons of travelling with the summoned hero and the list was extensive, to say the least. Her main points, which she had scrawled on a piece of paper before she finally decided, were that 1) she could affect a lot of change and help more people directly 2) it would spite her parents for always ignoring her 3) it would be harder (more like impossible) to have her voice and opinion heard in the council while she was away. Sure, she had assistants who were fully capable of handling affairs while she was gone, but Aewlyn knew that the old-timers (and most of the other diplomats) only barely listened to her because she was the daughter (estranged as she was) of an Espian noble. Any attempts her assistants made to even gain an audience would be waved off as inconsequential. However, this opportunity was rarer than once in a lifetime and she intended to make the most of it. She pulled on her travel clothes: comfortably worn leather boots, and durable trousers that matched her top and jacket. It was less distinguished than she would normally wear to the council chamber, but that was to be expected.

As the hour of her meeting approached, Aelwyn left her chambers, speaking once more with her attendant. He wasn't the best bodyguard (certainly couldn't even begin to hold a candle to her past guard), but he was the most organized person she had met and knew he was the best choice to represent her in her absence. The trip to the council building wasn't a long one, and Aelwyn found herself approaching the doors a few minutes earlier than she had planned. As she strode down the hallway towards the council chamber, the sight of a familiar figure approaching from the opposite direction dampened her spirits almost immediately. What was he doing here? As he stopped at the same door as her, Aelwyn felt her stomach knot up. Lior was not seriously going to help the Bow Hero, surely. The man was barely older than her and yet his views were the same as all of the senior members. That's what you get with someone raised by one of those short-sighted fools. Lior was someone that made Aelwyn's work hard beyond measure. If she was honest with herself, he was a well-mannered individual, but she knew the man had no morals and would do the bidding of the council no matter what they asked. He was their well-bred lap dog, nothing more. "Good morning, Lior. It seems you slept well." The greeting was typical among the other diplomats and Aelwyn knew she could recite the simple line with trained neutrality. The words were almost second nature to her and Aelwyn barely needed to think before she spoke. As he opened the door for her and stepped aside to let her through, Aelwyn nodded her head to the tall blond elf. "Thank you." As she stepped through into the large room beyond, she was met with the familiar scent of the ancient woods and was reminded of how stifling the air could feel in meetings and assemblies. The room was large and round with a circular table filling the main area in the centre. There were rows of chairs and tables rising above the central floor, that was where Aelwyn normally sat-in the periphery- ignored by those self-important, pompous council leaders. Her eyes were fixed on the chairs around the table, not so much taking in their aged appearance, but imagining herself sitting with the main council. She had to fight tooth and nail each time she presented so much as a suggestion or criticism (let alone proposed a change in law or social practice), but if she could be recognized as a distinguished and reputable diplomat, she could use that to help others. Aelwyn would make that happen no matter what it took, which was one reason that brought her here today. She felt his eyes on her, could sense the smirk hiding beneath that plain face. Turning around and looking up (anywhere but at Lior, honestly), Aelwyn narrowed her eyes as she stared at the ceiling speckled with sunlight. The day had started off so well for her, and now, that wasn't the case anymore.

Yaz Pierce||Spear Hero||24||Rosebreak Meeting Hall||Tagged: Open
Yaz was having a fun day. A fun couple of days, as it happened. It had started yesterday, when she'd fallen off the stockroom ladder and into another world. She still wasn't convinced that this wasn't all just a hallucination, and she was in fact lying on the linoleum with a snapped neck, but there wasn't much she could do about it, so. She supposed it didn't matter either way. She only half-listened to the exposition dumped on her by the individuals that had summoned her, but that was all she really needed to get the gist of it. Blah blah blah, world was in peril, and she was the only one who could stop it. Here's your overpowered weapon, kid, go do our job for us. She'd honestly rather have had them send her back home and find someone with more motivation, but there wasn't away to do that apparently, so the only way out was through. It wasn't like she hadn't had this exact same escapist fantasy a hundred times before, but those tended to be just that- fantasy. As much as she hated working a dead-end job, her world had too much stuff she liked to just give it all up. Like internet. And running water. And climate control. But again, nothing she could do about it, so no use complaining. She'd just have to play the game. Maybe it would even be fun. It worked out fine for all those anime characters, after all.

Her first day in the new world was largely spent on mechanics. After explaining why she was here, the clan leaders briefed her on the basic tenants of the world she was in. Most of the natural laws from her own world seemed to be in place, barring the existence of Magic, and the society she found herself in appeared to be a few hundred years behind her own, at least from a technological standpoint. There was an idea there, but it was still rolling around in the back of her mind. She'd need to think on that a bit more. It was something straight out of an MMO, they even used gold and silver for currency. She'd been provided with a small stipend to get her started, which she'd mostly used to buy armor and potions. Healing magic was a thing here, but she wasn't sure if she was proficient in it, so it was better safe than sorry. She actually had a few questions on the subject of magic, but she hadn't gotten a chance to ask them yet. Her starter gear was pretty basic, a set of lightweight leather armor, with some extra furs to ward off the cold. This was a northern country, and it was a bit chillier than she was used to. After her shopping trip, it was back to the meeting hall, where she was left to her own devices; time she used to get better acquainted with her new self. The Spear must have had some magic of its own, because she knew perfectly how to use it, despite never having picked up a weapon before. She also discovered she was significantly more athletic than she had been, though not to superhuman levels. Having muscles was certainly a new experience for her.

The Spear Hero sat at the far end of a large round table, rolling her eponymous spear between her fingers. At least she got an interesting weapon. There were supposedly four, and she didn't much like the thought of being One-Handed Sword Hero #275. Spears were cool, and they didn't get enough rep. Her other hand traced the pattern of the wood grain on the table, as her eyes roved around the room, always coming back to the door that stood opposite her. The country that she'd been summoned to ascribed to a largely tribal system of government. Five clans, each with their own stretch of territory, with most decisions being made by a meeting of the five clan leaders. They were the ones who'd chosen her party, the people she was waiting for now. She'd have liked to choose her own, but it was becoming readily apparent that her opinion on things wasn't something they were interested in. The more things changed, the more they stayed the same. Still, she couldn't help but wonder what her party would be like. She hadn't engaged much with the inhabitants of this world, it would be interesting to see how their cultures differed.

The past few days had been super super exciting!

Aegis could hardly believe everything that had happened to him. Last thing he remembered was leaving the coffee shop by his house and beginning to cross the street, then BOOM! He was somewhere totally new! It was wild.

The nice ladies in charge of this city had explained to him that he had been summoned. Him! Summoned! They wanted him to be a hero! No one had ever wanted Aegis for anything before. Even in school he'd always been picked last for sports, so this all felt wild. At first he had wondered if they'd made some sort of mistake... But they'd given him some sort of magical sword-thingy (which was mildly terrifying, even he wasn't sure that he should be trusted with anything as dangerous as a sword....) and a small stipend and then told him that his party would be meeting him soon.

That... That was odd too. Apparently he was meant to have help to do whatever it was he was meant to do. He hadn't found them yet though. It made his inside wring around anxiously. People weren't generally all the crazy about spending time with him in close quarters.... Would these people resent him? They'd have to, right? Some weird otherworldly hero who had absolutely no idea how to do any of the things they needed him to do!

Would they send him home once they realized what a mistake they'd made? At least.... at least he'd be able to write about this fantastic new world! As a fiction adventure story, of course. Who'd believe that something like this would ever happen in real life?!

Dragging a hand through his shaggy dark hair, he stared at some of the street stalls. He should really invest in some armor, if he was going to be an adventurer... but he wasn't really sure how any of it worked. Probably best to wait for the others. His other hand sunk into one of his pockets, where to his delight, he'd apparently put a pen. Nervous energy had never been his friend, but it was always better with a good pen! Click click click!

He began to make his way back to the center of the town. Maybe he could stay there until the others showed up? Click click click! Wasn't that what lost children were meant to do? Stay in one spot until they were found? Click click click!

Tsutsuji was pretty sure he hated Rosebreak. No. Wait. Scratch that, he totally did. It was always so loud and crowded and busy. Gross. But this wasn't about him right now, this was about the hero.

It was a shame the hero hadn't been summoned back home. The leaders of his clan would have been better prepared to soothe them, and help them to learn the ways of the land, how to harness the energy of themselves and of the living world around them to use magic. But surely the leaders here had shown them as well, right?

He hadn't come to Rosebreak often, his people having a certain distain for the lower lands. But there was enough traffic here that the hero had probably been fine. Probably.

Oh boy.

A little concerned now, he quickened his pace until he reached the meeting hall. If the hero had already left, at least the leaders should be able to point him in the right direction. But as he reached the general meeting room, it was nearly empty. Nearly. At the center table, sat a lone woman. Tall, probably, and tired looking. Her spiritual energies were a mess. She hadn't seemed to notice his entrance (it had been rather quiet, in all fairness to her, Ji never had liked attracting attention).

There was a tea station at the edge of the room, and he silently made his way over to prepare two cups. Chamomile would be best for now, if she were nearly as tired as she looked, and he was sure it was anxiety inducing to have been pulled to such a strange world anyways. Chamomile for calming nerves, pinch of milk before one serves... he hummed the old rhyme to himself, adding just the minimum amount of milk to cool it to a proper drinking temperature. As an additional aid, the milk would help her sleep later, which she seemed to need. Personally, he wasn't fond of milk. Instead, he added a tiny amount of Saint John's Wort. For anxiety. It was a tricky one, as he did not favor the taste, but hopefully he had gotten the balances correct.

Carefully, he moved to the table to sit as well, slowly sliding the tea over. He had not removed his mask, which when he thought about it may have been slightly worrying to her, but truthfully he was not yet sure he wished for them to lock eyes. It was rather embarrasing.

liv amparo the shield hero

[gender] female [age] twenty-one [race] human [party] shield [ location ] room - great hall [ tagged ]

Closing her eyes against the light that was threatening to bring her out from her slumber Liv groaned at the thought of all the things she still had to do once she was up. It was her day to open the shop, school hadn't started back up again so her parents had been piling up the shifts, not that she ever complained to their faces. Turning over in bed Liv was surprised that the pullout wasn't creaking like it normally did, that's when Liv began to remember the day before. She'd been heading out of her studio to grab some snacks when a brilliant light had consumed her, shielding her eyes a voice proclaimed her the "shield hero" asking her to save the world before fading away and leaving Liv surrounded by strange people in a place she didn't recognize. Eyes snapping open Liv jolted up from the bed and felt her heart sink, the stone walls, elaborate tapestries, and cold hearth were all signs that she definitely wasn't at home. Tossing the blankets aside Liv hissed as cold metal brushed her leg, apparently that wasn't a dream either, she thought looking down at the shield that was strapped to her right forearm. Small enough that it didn't inhibit the use of her hand the emerald gem set in the centre of silver metal gleamed in the morning light, and though she'd tried for hours last night she couldn't take it off. Not only that but when she'd touched a sword from a suit of armour in the hall energy had crackled between herself and the sword sending it flying down the hall and her scurrying back to this room. Still trying to absorb it all Liv pushed herself to her feet and was about to walk out the door when she noticed the folded clothes on a nearby chair and realized she was still wearing the clothes she'd been summoned in namely a tank top and an old pair of jean shorts that were stained with paint. Washing up Liv neatly folded her old clothes, tucking them into her bag and examined herself in the small mirror on the table. The light leather armour was at least comfortable and the forest green cloak would be good for all kinds of weather, she looked like she'd jumped straight out of a fantasy novel and in a way maybe she had?
When she'd first arrived she'd been told so much information that it was hard to keep straight but most of what she'd been told reminded her of dnd, especially the fact that today she'd be meeting her party. Maybe if she kept thinking all of this over casually it would begin to feel normal faster. Slinging her bag of basic supplies onto her shoulder Liv took a deep breath before heading out the door and towards the great hall where she'd finally meet the people or demi-humans, that would be accompanying her. At the moment the great hall was empty, at least she wasn't late. Taking a crumpled piece of paper out of her bag Liv smoothed it out and held it out in front of her looking over the quest description and hoping that her compatriates would be okay with a hunting trip. With only a shield to her name, Liv wasn't prepared to go for one of the more...dangerous quests. How was she supposed to be a legendary hero with a shield? She couldn't even take it off to throw it like Captain America. Blowing out a sigh Liv could already feel self-doubt creeping into her head, perfect, and she hadn't even done anything yet. Absentmindedly drawing shapes on her leg Liv was left waiting for them to show themselves.

sivitri katona the explorer

[gender] female [age] twenty-three [race] human [party] sword [ location ] throne room -> town square [ tagged ] Aegis

Admiring the ornately carved pillars that lined the throne room Sivitri stood there feeling quite small, strangely enough, though it was her homeland Sivitri had only ever visited Ziyda once. Her mother had wanted to show her what it meant to be a member of the royal guard, though she'd never really understood the desire to commit yourself to only one thing for life. Glancing up as a woman clad in golden finery entered the room Sivitri bowed keeping her eyes on the floor. "I'm sorry for your loss my child, your mother was a great woman." the queen said to which Sivitri could only nod.
"She was," Sivitri began, "and I'll try my best to make her proud." she promised, more to herself than anything else, a confident smile lighting up her face. For all that she wanted to grieve now wasn't the time, maybe once the waves were finally put to a stop, maybe she'd go back to Hahij once this was all done.
"I know this isn't proper protocol but I think Finna would've wanted you to have this," the queen said signalling a man forward who held a pillow on top of which sat a carved and painted mask that Sivitri couldn't help but recognize.
Removing the mask from the pillow Sivitri studied the mask it's horns chipped but the paint still bright and flawless, "Are you sure your majesty?" she asked her ruby eyes sparkling with excitement. The mask was worn by all of the queen's royal guards, each had different markings and this was the one that had previously belonged to her mother. Bowing deeply with thanks Sivitri placed the mask on her head securing it so it sat on top of her head, it already fit pretty comfortably.
"Now off you go, the sword hero should be somewhere in town." the queen told her dismissing Sivitri's bow with a wave of her hand.
That was all it took for Siv to be off, practically running out of the castle and into the city that was humming with excitement. Who could blame them though, there was an actual legendary hero somewhere within the city walls! What would he be like? All she'd been told is that he'd been summoned from another world, chosen by the sword itself to be its wielder. Her curiosity growing with every step Sivitri decided to start with the town square. Spices from the market alley creeping into her nose the warrior took a deep breath in, how long had it been since she'd been home? five years? Something like that, and though she loved wandering wherever she wanted to go there was a warmth spreading through her chest at the idea of being home again. Hopefully, they wouldn't stay in Awhea though, according to legend the waves could appear anywhere across the world and there was still so much of it to explore.
Her ears caught a soft alien clicking noise, it was too uniform to be an animal and yet that was the closest thing Sivitri could come up with. Scanning the area one figure stood out to her wearing a long white coat, a strange choice for a desert climate, and holding something foreign in his hand that was the source of the clicking. Approaching the figure Sivitri grinned "You're him aren't you?" she asked glancing down at the weapon hanging off his hip the blue jewel sparkling in the sun, "I'm one of your party members, Sivitri." she declared sticking her hand out to shake.

"Help the Bow Hero as well as you can, but also make sure he stays on the right path." Elmar instructed without glancing up from whatever document he was working on.
"Of course my lord." Lior said bowing once more to his father and council member, "it shall be done." he added before turning on his heel and leaving the room. Out in the hall was quiet, the only sound was the swishing of his robes as he headed towards the council chambers. Though he'd been sent out on long missions before Lior knew that the challenge would come with the fact that this time he had companions. One of which he knew wasn't a fan of his, hopefully, the rest of the party would be easier to win over. At least it would make this mission more tolerable if they could all manage to get along.
Right on cue a familiar figure approached from the opposite end of the hall leaving Lior just enough time to open the door for her a smile gracing his features. Aelwyn greeted him naturally however she hadn't managed to hide her disappointment on first seeing him, something that Lior found highly amusing, even if she could hide her dislike he wondered how long it would take for Aelwyn to crack and reveal exactly what she thought of him. "A good morning to you as well Aelwynn," Lior replied warmly as she moved past him through the open door. Joining her inside the familiar room Lior glanced at his typical seat, just on the periphery of the main council table, most said that the only reason he wasn't apart of the main council was that he was being groomed to lead. Lior knew better though, he was too useful to the council as someone who worked in the shadows and because of that, that was where he would remain. Lior didn't need power though, it wasn't something he craved for himself, what he wanted was to ensure Espia would remain a powerful country for centuries to come and even beyond that once he was gone. Taking a seat on one of the outer tables Lior glanced at Aelwyn with a puzzled smile, "So what's brought such a prolific diplomat to volunteer for the bow's party?" he asked genuinely curious.
Before he could get her response, however, the door to the chambers was opened and a man wearing strange (well otherworldly) clothes walked in, a bow slung on his back. Standing and bowing to the hero as he approached Lior was already curious as to what this man must be thinking. Clearly a little lost but that was understandable, their worlds must be so fundamentally different from each other that this would be quite the culture shock. "Of course sir hero," Lior responded straightening up to his full height, "That's partially why we're here, to help you get accustomed to the world of Echoa." he explained his hands folded in front of him. Turquoise eyes studying the hero Lior could see the discomfort written in his posture and smiled in an attempt to reassure him "My name is Lior, if you have any specific questions I'll do my best to answer with everything I know." after all a scared and unsure hero wouldn't reflect well on Espia at all.
