Tiberius had presented her with two paths. Walking along one meant she could accept a normal answer, and keep living a normal life, and forget tonight ever happened. The other, the first, opened doors to the impossible, the fantastic, and the dangerous. And yet... and yet, she could feel her palm tingle and she could remember the furred shape that had saved her and...
She took a deep breath, and mumbled a soft "and I, I took the road less traveled by" before nodding and looking up at Tiberius. She'd wait till the others had made their choices, but for herself it wasn't much of a question.
Moving closer put her nerves a little more at ease, so she did. Only a little. Tessa was ok too, but the other two were still somewhat scary. So she was happy to stand just behind Tiberius, hopefully seeming to lend friendly support. That's what she meant to be doing anyways. Maybe it looked like she was about to jump him though, should she move back? Awkwardly, she started shuffling around, muttering to herself absent-mindedly. It seemed like the others didn't care what she did, so she rolled with it.
Tuning out whatever else was going on, she looked about absently. Or maybe she was in shock? Hm. She'd never been in shock before, so she wouldn't know. But she was kinda cool. And in the movies they always gave shock people blankets. So maybe she was in shock? Huh. Wild times.
There were police sirens in the distance now, and she wandered off (again) to go peer out of the windows and watch them draw closer. Ohh. She hadn't realized that police would be coming, but that made sense too. Gross. Police were not her friends, and she pouted a bit as she watched the lights, reaching up to cover her ears from the shrieking wails of the sirens. It was like being a little kid again. Her grandparents had assured her that all good business men and women were investigated for something at somepoint, but she still hated when people of the law looked at her for too long.
Was she just as likely to blurt out some embarrassing secret now as she was when she was still a ten year old? Probably. But it was hopefully something more interesting than "I saw the gym teacher kissing the nurse in an empty classroom!"
Or hopefully not?
Whatever.
She watched the lights and listened to the others debate and squabble behind her. For now.
