The faint sound of seagulls dragged Kiala into consciousness, it had to be morning, she could feel it. They should be arriving to Beifong City in a matter of hours. The petite female sat up on the bed gently rubbing her heavy eyes, sleeping on a boat was exhausting, with everything shifting around you it was hard to be at ease. She finally stood up and made the bed before walking over to the vanity. As she ran a brush through her snow white hair the importance of the day finally hit her. Today was the start of a new chapter, a beginning of secured peace for the nations.

She styled her hair in the traditional half up style of the Water Nation and put on her crown. Today called for formal attire, well to be fair almost everyday called for formal attire in the life of a royal. But today she would be meeting with the future leaders of the other nations so it required more formal attire than normal. She put on a dark blue necklace and earnings then pulled out a box from underneath the bed. Inside there was a traditional blue dress, the dress itself was usually worn by the queen when dealing with royal affairs. Considering she would be representing their nation alone her parents had this one made for her. She changed into the dress and sat back on the bed closing her eyes, falling into a state of meditation. From now on her life would take a turn, she would have to live with the other nations and work with them as a whole, the fire nation included. To be honest if she were more selfish she would have preferred to stay in the South Pole and have her sister take her place. She knew she was fit to rule, and that her people needed her now more than ever, so in the name of peace she would have to set those fears aside.

The ship began to shake as it approached land. The princess got up and made sure she looked alright before heading to the deck. She was greeted by hot winds, well hot compared to the ones from the poles. She went over to the group on the deck that had formed greeting Tarkik, Ren, and Reo. She directed her gaze over to the docks of Beifong City, the boat soon came to a halt and the breeze stopped. Revealing a rather warm climate, nothing close to what they were used to. "Its rather... humid" she mumbled. Once the ship was fully docked they were each given a slip that contained the directions to their homes. While they attended the meeting the men would deliver their personal items to their homes. She began to lead the group off the ship and started making their way into the city. It was rather odd to see an empty city, but fascinating at the same time. At the center of the downtown there was a fountain with a statue of Avatar Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Fire Lord Zuko. The kids that saved the world by working as one. Behind that there was a long structure with large stairs leading up to it. That had to be the meeting hall. She turned around looking at her Lieutenant, Healer, and Historian. "Before we go in there I would like to tell all of you what a privilege it is to have you with me during this journey. I know we all have different thoughts about this, but we are here to secure peace for our people and we are representing them every day that we are here and we can't forget that, based on how the docks looked I think we are the last ones to arrive" she said giving them a little smile before heading up the steps of the meeting hall. She walked in and let the rest of her people walk in before bowing to the others in the room, she diligently made her way over to the seats that were clearly marked for the Water Nation and took her place next.

One by one each one of the leaders was called up to recite the pledge, after they were all free to interact with each other. Kiala personally didn't know exactly who to go up to so she just stayed by her tribe.

Nol was up at the crack of dawn diligently packing and securing his books and plants. He wanted to make sure nothing got ruined by the people that would be taking their things into their homes. He was pretty excited about getting his own home, he couldn't wait to fill it up with plants. He had heard rumors that they had made each district resemble the region where they came from and that the Air district had really tall homes. Hopefully this would mean that the roof and decks would be perfect for gardens. There were so many possibilities that started to rush through his mind. He looked over at his little willow tree sapling, a rush of emotions came over him as he remembered the bittersweet memory of his father. He took the tree and secured it basically making it fool proof so it could get to his house safely.

Once the ship came to a halt he looked at his plants one last time before going up to the deck. Zeru, Kiya, and Jamyang were already there, he was probably stuck with his plants longer then he thought. He followed the group into the city, when they walked through the gates he looked up in amazement. All this was built for them? Now that was absolutely crazy. He followed into a long house that was in the center of the downtown area. Inside were the fire nation and the earth kingdom, he nervously took a seat. The room was awfully silent. He looked around the room and spotted Tikki, he could barely recognize her she had grown so much. Well to be fair the last time they had seen each other was when they were 12. He wondered if she was able to recognize him too. It wasn't long until the Water Tribe entered.

He stared in awe as the leader walked in, her hair was purely white. So it wasn't a made up story made by his parents but was it all true? He had so many questions in his mind. After the leaders were done pledging and they were free to move, he wanted to go up to the water tribe princess but he was a too intimidated too. If everything was true then she was able to blood bend and pissing her off was probably not a good idea. Instead he nervously approached Tikki still hoping that she would atleast recognize him. "Hey Tikki, long time no see"

sleep was for the weak...or at least for the ones who were smart and didn't pull out all of their books and scrolls on the train to read them the whole night. tiki was so nervous to enter the gates of beifong city and reading her history books helped her calm down. problem is...she fell asleep at about 2 am on a pile of papers and novels, so the morning was not kind to her. she had a kink in her neck, her hair was a mess, and she had about a whole zero hours and ten minutes to get to the meeting hall. she chaotically threw her books unrolled scrolls into her bag, took a brush to her hair a solid three times, and brushed her teeth quickly. she threw on the nicest thing she owned, which consisted of a bohemian style open sleeves olive green dress with accents of gold, along with a pastel tea green lace up belt. to top off the look was a earth nation hair barrette, tiny golden round earings, and her jade necklace given to her by her mother at the age of seven, before her passing. a bit of mascara completed a look that transformed a middle class book worm quickly into an upper ring lady. she wasn't quite fond of the high class look, but at least she wasn't forced to wear that horribly neon colorful eye shadow that the upper ring prisses wore.

tiki exited the train and ran to the meeting hall, shoes off until she ran up the stairs completely. she struggled to slip on her shoes as she hopped into simultaneously, noticing that her other earth nation acquaintances were already here. she grinned softly at dรฉshรฌ and raiea before finding her seat next to the renowned warrior. slowly the other nations began arriving, starting with fire, then water, and lastly air. tiki was twiddling her thumbs when the air nation entered, which meant she didn't see nol quite yet. it wasn't until the leaders were saying the pledge that she looked down at the list of chosen ones that she saw 'nol'. her eyes opened wide and scanned the room to find the blonde goof with the airbenders. a...airbender.....HE'S AN AIRBENDER??? she thought to herself, almost anxiously. had she not paid enough attention to him when they were kids or did he not know yet? she bit her lip nervously for fear that she had mistakenly not known nol as well as she should have.

the benders were able to move freely around post pledge. it took tiki a few moments to gather her thoughts and practice what she would say to nol, but he had already approached and started talking to her before she could formulate anything. hot cheeks brightening by the seconds, her ocean blue eyes looked up at the significantly taller bender. opposite to her usual personality, it took everything out of tiki not to completely koala hug nol for a solid 5 hours. nol! I-uh-....hi. wow, great start. it's such a coincidence that we were both chosen to become a part of the new peacemakers of the world. I mean...me an earthbender and you....and airbender? I THOUGHT I KNEW EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU DID I MISS SOMETHING I'M SO SORRY I'M A BAD FRIEND those bad social skills really are showing, tiki. she bowed in apology a couple of times, then she held her hands behind her back and looked back up, saying wait...I distinctly remember you saying when I started bending that you wished you could do the same...you hid your bending didn't you. but why? you're clearly a great bender seeing that you're here... she had so many questions and realized she left no time for him to respond. oh...I'm sorry I guess I'm a little excited and confused. but before I forget...I'm happy to see you again. at least one gentle face is here to make me feel like I belong.

xxx๐‘นaiea had been up for awhile, at least an hour or two before the sun had fully risen in the sky. The change in location and scenery had been a swift and easy one for her, yet another reason to thank her military training. The train wasn't too bad, she'd take it over flying or sailing any day, but she still longed for solid, unmoving ground. Her hair was done neatly into a low bun with her bangs and two pieces of hair framing her face. Her outfit was a traditional military uniform, metal guarding her shoulders. She was set for the day as she sat on the couch by one of the train windows, overlooking paperwork and various other things. They were to arrive at Beifong City in mere hours and she wasn't going to be anything less than prepared. While she was more than anxious to get started, she wished she could stay back home. The City was a wonderful idea, but she found part of herself against it at the same time. It was a wonderful way to bring all of the nations together with peace, but wars were bound to happen one way or another. Uniting them was another thing, while she couldn't deny the benefits toward doing such a thing, it was also something, selfishly, that she opposed- secretly of course. She wouldn't dare share those thoughts with anyone.

xxxStill, no matter how she felt about it this mission was an opportunity she was more than grateful for. She would prove herself, make her family proud. Make her kingdom proud at least. It was for the greater good, she hoped. She'd find out soon enough. In a way, she supposed they were a trial run, to make sure that everything could go as planned before they truly started to populate the city and move forward. The leaders from each nation would form a council, and the others would help them run the city. A big task, but it was something she was prepared for, when was she not? When the scenery had changed she started to prepare herself, gathering her things as she rose from her seat to start toward the train's doors. She eyed the others cocking a brow before filing out. She watched the historian run towards the meeting hall, shoes off and all and Raiea tried her best to suppress a groan. It didn't linger on the others for too long as she examined every little nook and cranny of the city, then scanning the statues of Team Avatar. Her gaze focused on the statue of Toph Beifong, she had admired the former Chief of Police for years, and then her daughters and so on. Raiea took a deep breathe before making her way to the Meeting Hall.

xxxAs expected they were the first one's there, not a surprise at all considering they were the closest to the City. She had already mapped out that prior, if distance was the only thing considered the Fire Nation would be next, then the Air Nation, and lastly the Water Nation. She was more than eager to meet everyone and get settled in, she wanted to know exactly who they were dealing with. When she entered the hall, she looked around, taking note mentally of every person and exit, memorizing the layout and such. It was a habit of hers for years, so much so that she barely realized she had done it. It took a moment of idling at the door way before she proceeded forward toward the section for the Earth Kingdom. She moved swiftly, arms clasped behind her back as she stood near the table, not quite fond of sitting down just yet. Her posture straight and proper as she kept her expression neutral, refraining from allowing her face to give any sort of judgement away. Her eyes were moving from place to place, never lingering in one spot as, one-by-one, the nations entered. Taking their spots at their respective places. When she could finally pick out the Water Nation arriving and she could see each section was filled she perked up.

xxxAt last the meeting had begun, each leader being called up individually to recite a pledge for trying their best at keeping peace, something she withheld a scoff at. Peace was a hard thing, not that she would try to cause any problems but it was something she expected out of the other nations at least. She kept her feet rooted into the ground, not making any movement to go and socialize with the other nations, not yet at least. Instead her eyes kept their wandering, observing each person. Her head held high, and her expression slowly changing into her famous default 'serious mean' look that usually kept people from interacting. She exhaled sharply through her nose, this was going to be a long day.

โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€ Dร‰SHร ZHAO โ”€โ”€โ”€โ”€
Tall, slender young man with amber eyes and natrually wavy black hair.
Role: Earth kingdom prince โ”€ Ability: Lava bending โ”€ Location: city meting hall โ”€ Tags: Raiea

Today was the day that the earth kingdom representatives were due to arrive in the new capital- Beifong City. Excited was an understatement for Dรฉshรฌ. As the prince his parents were not ready to give up all their formal duties as rulers, so Dรฉshรฌ never got a chance to hone and refine his leadership skills. Sure, you can learn yourself to death the theory behind the greatest leaders and their attributes, but in Dรฉshรฌ's eyes nothing compares to real-life, hands-on experience. He was definitely a kinesthetic learner, absorbing the world around him by utilizing all his senses. Now, with his parents back in the earth kingdom, Dรฉshรฌ had an opportunity to show and develop what he had been learning for years upon years. He heard that the princess of the water nation was going to be of importance in the council too, so he assumed she was feeling the same way.
The prince sighed to himself as he woke to the beginning of commotion on the train. We must be close he thought to himself as he stretched himself out, yawning in the process. He swung his legs to the side of the bed, rubbed his tired eyes and looked up to the clock on the wall. He technically didn't sleep in, but he definitely should be ready by now. Dรฉshรฌ sighed again and ran his fingers through his scruffy black hair, still poking out in the most random of ways due to continuous rolling throughout his sleep. He finally stood up by the edge of his bed, yawning once more before making his way to the bathroom. He stumbled a bit due to the wobbles of the train, but saved himself just in time before he fell flat on his face. Phew, I wouldn't want to explain a cut lip to Raiea the prince thought with a chuckle.
Dรฉshรฌ made his way out of the bedroom carriage once he got himself ready and dressed. He has slipped into very formal attire for the initial meeting- wanting to make a great first impression for all the other nations. His mother and father wanted to make sure that the earth royalty was shown off appropriately, so everything he wore was custom made. A beautiful pair of black trousers, a white long-sleeved shirt made from the finest linen in the earth kingdom, and a well-fitting cloak that was coloured deep brown with gold embellishments. The subtle yet intricate detailing on the cloak was the earth kingdoms way of showing their skill but also their ability to stay humble. Dรฉshรฌ felt proud, honoured and fulfilled to be wearing such a beautiful garment. As the train came to a stop, Dรฉshรฌ and the others walked out and made their way to the meeting hall. A smile was pasted to his lips the whole time- his excitement wasn't able to be internalized.
Once the vows and pledges were taken, every representative was free to mingle and greet each other. As he stood from his marked seat, he had to stretch out his long limbs to prevent them from cramping. As he did, he spotted his lieutenant, Raiea, looking like she really did not want to be here. He sighed with a slight roll of his eyes. Why does she have to be like this? It's making the earth kingdom look horrible the prince thought to himself while making his way over to her. "Raiea!" He called out with a wave and smile, hoping to loosen her up a bit. "Why the long face?" He asked as he mocked her 'serious mean' look. He couldn't hold it for long though, bursting out into quiet laughter. "Why don't we go and greet the others, perhaps the princess of the water nation? She looks just as awkward as you" Dรฉshรฌ said, playfully nudging her and directing his gaze to the young women across the hall.

xxx๐‘ปhe lieutenant straighten as she heard her name being called, turning her head to find Dรฉshรญ making his way toward her. Her shoulders deflated for a moment before she sighed just loud enough for him to hear, allowing her guard down just a bit for her friend. Her eyes narrowed as she mocked her serious face and she rolled her eyes, trying to manage the laugh that was trying it's best to escape her. "Oh sweet Kyoshi, Dรฉshรญ, I'm just observing." She responded with a frown, giving him a harmless glare as she looked over to the other woman. "Oh terrific," she told him sarcastically. There was nothing wrong with the other woman, but she was really dreading the socializing part. "and I do not look awkward!" Raiea added defensively. "If anything you look too happy, haven't wiped that smile off of your face since we got here. If there was something up you wouldn't even have noticed, meanwhile I've figured at least five ways out of here." Her voice was sharp and firm but she meant no offense to the other, she just worried that he was letting his guard down too much and that she'd have to step in if anything were to go wrong. He could handle himself by all means, but she wasn't going to let anything close to that happen. It took a moment of her secretly pouting before she sighed, her hands tightening in their clasp behind her back before relaxing with a sigh. "Alright then, your highness. Let's get on with it." She told him, gesturing for him to lead the way as she followed shortly behind, keeping an eye on the other guests.

xxxRaiea looked around carefully, lingering on the historian of their group. Tikki, who was currently talking with an air nomad she guessed based on the attire and tattoo's. Their conversation seemed to be exciting on both ends but she didn't invest too much of her time on trying to figure out why, instead she looked toward the white-haired princess. She wanted to confide in Dรฉshรญ about all the things she had heard, but that would be more than unprofessional, and not the sort of impression she wanted to make. Bringing prosperity to the South Pole, blessed by the moon spirit, and being a bloodbender on top of it all? That was a lot for a simple princess. She knew royalty did their fair-share of work, but it seemed she had done a lot more than most. When they arrived in front of her, she bowed respectfully, putting on a soft smile, one that was usually reserved to those higher ranked than her. Usually nobility. She waited for Dรฉshรญ to speak first, not wanting to interrupt the two royals. Formalities and such, ones that she had no intention of breaking. Dรฉshรญ might have allowed it, but she wasn't sure about the water nation woman. "Lieutenant Raiea-- Princess Kiala, it's a pleasure to meet you." Her voice was firm and respectful as she looked to her expectantly. She examined the woman as she stood back a bit, letting the two speak if they wanted to as she looked around. Interrupting royalty was not something she wanted to do.

xxxThe woman's silence was mostly based on the fact that she didn't know what to say, her experiences with royalty were little except for Dรฉshรญ but that didn't count. The two had been friends for years. So she tended to treat them like her superiors in the military, which consisted of short orders and very little conversation. She'd let Dรฉshรญ handle it for now until her opinion or comment was needed. Her hands clasped behind her back tightened and eased up in a slow pattern as she watched the other groups carefully turning back to the two at last to watch them. Her gaze was locked on the prince and princess, but she stayed alert of everyone surrounding them.

The princess looked around the room trying to put names to faces. She had looked enough into them to be able to guess some. Except the leaders of course that was pretty obvious. She would go out and socialize but the fire nation was here and just because she was willing to live and work with them it didn't mean she was eager to meet them. She felt bad, and slightly hypocritical. She believed in second chances but her visions had her wary of fire benders. She was almost sure it was her past life, but she had no way of knowing the truth.

She was snapped from her thoughts when she saw two figures approach her out of the corner of her eye. She turned around to meet the eyes of Prince Dรฉshรญ and his Lieutenant Raiea. Kiala gently bowed her head. "Prince Dรฉshรญ and Lieutenant Raiea its a pleasure to meet you both" she said as she looked back up at them. "I've heard wonderful things about you both, Lieutenant you have come a long way, you fit the mold of an excellent solider, I guess it runs in the family"

Although this was her first time meeting Raiea in person it wasn't the first time she had heard of her or her family. She came from a high ranking military family. They had served the Earth Kingdom for generations and had even fought against the fire nation during the 100 year war. Raiea had come a long way and did a great job at representing her family, thats something she could admire. She moved her bright blue eyes from the Lieutenant and on to the Prince.

Kiala had heard a lot of things from him as well, mostly what her parents had told her a couple times. Her parents were fond of the Earth Kingdom's rulers and often did business with them. So it wasn't unusual for her to overhear her parents talk about them. As far as she knew the Prince was a well mannered and studied young man, he is the heir to the throne and has been training on how to be the next leader since he was old enough to do so. She could relate to this as being the first born she's also had to endure growing up to be the leader, sacrificing her childhood meanwhile watching her twin do whatever she wanted.

Nol gave out an awkward smile as Tiki greeted him. He seemed to have caught her completely off guard considering how red her face was getting. Nol scratched the back of his head nervously as she mentioned how it was a coincidence that they had both ended up here. He could tell exactly where the conversation was going to go and there was not much he could do to stop it.

When Tiki's voice rose Nol put his hands up blocking his face totally prepared for Tiki to hit him, but she didn't slightly relived, Nol took a deep breath ready to answer but then she kept on going. Man now he felt like a complete douche, he disappeared for seven years without a trace and never bothered to send her something saying he was alive at least. After his father's death he had gone directly to the Air Nation, but it was what he had to do. "Well I wouldn't say I'm a great bender, or a bender at all. There's not much I can do." he said and lifted his hand making a small disc of air between his fingers "Thats about all that I'm good at" it's not that he couldn't do more, he could he just had no control of his bending, it basically had a mind of its own. And accidentally doing something and creating a disaster in the first meeting of the nations would completely embarrass the Air Nation, and to be honest Zeru and Kiya would definitely kill him.

He winced a little when she asked why he had hid his bending from her. Right on to the hard part, he would try to stay away from the topic of his father as much as he could. He would probably tell her considering it would help her understand why he had left for so long and why he had been dishonest, but that conversation would have to be saved for another time, he really didn't want to get emotional with so many important people in the same room. "I've known I was a bender since i was four, when a child starts bending air the parents are supposed to send them to the Air Nation to be trained. They never see their parents again, my parents didn't want to loose me so we kept it a secret from everyone. He explained hoping he made sense. A warm smile crossed his face when she mentioned it was nice to see him again. It helped to know she wasn't enraged with him "Its really nice to see you too Tiki".

tiki was quite surprised that nol had been a bender since the age of four but never really got a hang of it. though, to be honest tiki wasn't a fantastic earth bender either. she didn't have the...umph to be a powerful earthbender. she wasn't headstrong, she was actually quite the opposite. it may be why her metalbending techniques weren't working too well, either. well, you're not the only one who ismn't a top tier bender. it's not that I'm bad at earthbending I guess, but it's not my strong suit. I like books and nature and animals so much more. learning about the different techniques and how earthbending came to be interests me so much more. though...I am trying to pick up some metal bending. it's not going too well... she pulled up her sleeve to reveal some lash marks on her arms from her failed practices.

lowering back down her sleeve, she moved on to give nol a giant squeeze of a hug. she really did miss him. living with her father and continuously working didn't give her much time to make friends, so it was nice to have nol around when they were kids. she honestly though she would never see him again, so this was the best surprise she could have ever received. she released nol from the hug and said well I understand your secret then. I wouldn't want to leave my father either. he is the only family I have since moss passed when I was seven, so leaving him would have been hard at a young age. it scares me being away from him even now, but he's doing okay. she was a second away from asking how his father was when her eyes happened to cross over dรฉshรฌ and raiea talking to the water tribe princess. ideally, she should be over there mingling with her own nation and being introduced to the leaders. but she wasn't like the other two. she was quieter and reserved. diplomatic conversations were not her strong suit, and to be honest neither were regular conversations. she would rather be over with someone she knew than trying to impress high up leaders.

tiki looked back at nol and said can you imagine being so powerful that you can blood bend? it truly is an amazingly powerful style, though not many water benders can master it, nor do they want to. its seen as a dark art and rarely used in combat. as opposed to the normal flowing motion of waterbending and healing bloodbending requires more of a rigid and abrupt movement of the arms. it's said that some can even use something called psychic bloodbending, doesn't that sound terrifying? those who master psychic bloodbending don't have to use their arms to bloodbend. there she goes talking about things that most people probably don't even care about. oh...sorry. speaking of bending, if you're not the best bender then you have to be amazing at something else...so what interests you?

___Piles neatly stacked in his bags, organized by clothing type, then color, Reo stood a bit hesitantly with his arms across his chest as he speculated his other choices piled haphazardly on top of his columns. He knew they would never close at this rate, but Reo was not accustomed to the idea of leaving home, not for a night and certainly not for, forever. It was his duty to the people of his cultureโ€™s history- because if he were honest with himself, no one could do it better than him- to continue the traditions and knowledge of the water tribe. Reo exhaled, closing his eyes trying to push away his discomforts before easing himself onto his knees, now eyelevel with his luggage.

___His hand outstretched and hovered over several objects, but finally he settled on a photo album. The young man examined the front cover and shook his head, it would be all he had left of his family and he just knew he could not leave them behind. Carefully, he tucked the album on the side of one of the columns of clothing before picking up his stuffed polar bear dog. โ€œI suppose I donโ€™t need you to protect me from the dark anymoreโ€ฆโ€ he sighed, setting the well-loved toy to the side. Reo had been working for some time now on the properties water held when it reflected light, and it wasnโ€™t perfect but if he kept working on it, he would soon be able to rid the children of the water tribe the fear of the dark- and of course, other historically monumental and important tasks.

___After decluttering his life, and downsizing his personal belongings by about half, Reo carefully filed in his books and water scrolls he had collected in the empty spaces he had created. This was going to be his new life, he knew it was only starting out small, at the young age of 21, Reo knew his life had exponential potential to grow and with some luck, maybe like water, he too would change and adapt to his new environment. Closing his last bag, Reo carried them out to the front of the house before going back for his goodbyes. He wanted them to be short and sweet, but the way his family was, there were just as many smiles as there were tears. They were proud of himโ€ฆ he knew that much, but like him, his family were not too thrilled about him leaving home.

___Picking up his bags once more, Reo began the trek to his pickup location. The travel to the boat had been short, but the travel over seas seemed to take forever. The young man did wonder if it would have been faster to travel on their ownโ€ฆ then again, he doubted everyone had the same relationship with the creatures of the sea that he had. As he looked out over the railing of the ship, he felt a bit off loss deepen as he realized the animals in the capitol would not know him and if he were to return home, he would likely not be recognized by the animals he had grown up with- if they were around at all. Deflated, Reo tried his hand at sleep in the bunk cabin, but to his misfortune he had left his polar bear dog behind and the comfort that stuffed toy brought him he now realized went beyond fighting darkness.

___Reo could already tell as they dockedโ€ฆ he was only a shell of himself anymore. His new self- would have to rebuild as he got his footing, or maybe it would return when the travel-lag wore off and he had a proper meal. The historian smiled somberly and nodded, trying to straighten up as the Princess addressed him and the group collectively. To be completely honest, he still was not sure if he was supposed to address her at all, it was not his place with his status and to stick true to tradition. He did not want to disrespect her highness, so he listened respectfully and only spoke when it had been his turn to recite the pledge, something he had of course memorized in no time at all.

___Once the group was released to mingle, Reo couldnโ€™t help but find himself wandering out to the founders statue. Avatar Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph and Fire lord Zuko- he sighed as he looked down into the smalls stream of water that ran through the fountain. โ€œMaybe one day there will be a statue of us too,โ€ he mused quietly, sitting on the ledge and reminding himself to breathe.

indentnaturally , akemi was up at the crack of dawn . the redhead had been up all night , practicing her stances in an attempt to distract herself from the impending meeting . it wasnโ€™t uncommon for the fire bender to find herself practicing her bending when she was anxiously awaiting a large ceremony . akemi wasnโ€™t one for anxiety particularly , but she also wasnโ€™t thrilled about attending this meeting . her father hadnโ€™t been keen on her meeting the other heirs of the other bending communities when she was young , so she had only seen them in passing when her father brought her to diplomatic events . therefore , this would be her first official meeting with these individuals .

indentand she knew her father hadnโ€™t given her a lot to work with .

indentthe current fire lord was ruthless , honoring fire lord ozaiโ€™s legacy far more than the principles that her great grandfather , zuko, had tried to instill in the fire nation . she knew the other bending nations feared the fire nation , and it was up to akemi to change that . however , all akemi knew was firebending and politics . while deep down she desired a better life for the fire nation and to end its reign of terror , she had lived her entire life in the castle . she hardly knew the first thing about diplomacy .

indentโ€aH !!โ€ akemi yelped as her flame was quickly countered by that of another , stunning her and throwing her back . the general marched up to her with a smug look plastered on his face . โ€tsk , princess . forever off your guard , hm ?โ€ he looked her up and down in a disapproving manner as akemi stood up , dusting herself up while scowling at the general . โ€youโ€™re hardly dressed for a meeting with your future political partners and potential suitors .โ€ the general smirked as he stepped up to the firebender , whose tone was laced with irritation .

indent"excuse me for being more concerned with defending myself . you realize i'm not exactly a 'fan favorite' , right ?" the princess deadpanned as she readjusted her hair in the ponytail it was held in . the general shrugged , his all knowing smile still gracing his features ,

indent" that might be so , but that's no excuse to not make a good first impression . five minutes , get to it !" he scolded before turning on his heels and marching back down to steer the ship into the shore . now that the skyline was in view , akemi's breath hitched in her throat . her eyes focused on the shore as it grew larger before she let out a sigh , marching down into her cabin to get changed .

indent"what in the world does uluzu think that royals wear nowadays ?" akemi scoffed , referencing her elderly hand maiden back home . there was a hint of affection in her voice as she spoke about the cheerful old woman , but she cringed as she turned to face herself in the mirror . the royal fire nation attire - usually sleek and sharp - had been decked out in lace and ... were those ... sequins ?? akemi groaned audibly before tightening the bun on her head , fixing the crown on top of her head and tossed the rest of her red locks down her back . fine , whatever . she was going to get looks no matter what happened , so maybe uluzu knew that this would give the other residents something else to mutter about .

indentakemi hadn't heard a word from her three other partners as she stepepd off of the ship , flanked by guards until she reached the building , akemi stopped short of the grand doors , took in a deep breath , dismissed the guards , and tossed open the doors with a bit more ferocity than she desired . immediately her attention was drawn to the regal air that the other royals held . it made akemi feel as though she needed to build up a wall in order to measure up to them . the fiery red of her hair and attire stood out drastically from the cool blues , calming greens and charming yellows of the other nations .

indenthowever , it was a flash of yellow that pulled akemi from her thoughts as she bumped into a figure adorned in the air nomad color . almost instinctively akemi put her hands up , eye furrowed and seemingly ready to fight as soon as she was attacked . however , instead of an enemy , akemi was met with the gentle features of an air nomad . apologetic - but quickly realizing that her sheltered life had never led her to a moment like this before - akemi quickly put her hands down , giving a small bow , "oh - sorry . i thought you were an enemy ." WHAT?! "akemi , fire nation ." the princess addressed coldly . she wasn't about to warm up to anyone here . her mission here was to create diplomatic peace , not make friends .

In....out.....in....out.....root to floor, feel the weight of your body settling into the floor. Jamyang sat cross-legged on the floor of her cabin trying to clear her mind of everything. The creak of the ship as it bobbed over the waves, the tapping of feet above her as the crew prepared to dock, Tashi chittering away expectantly, all of it became an overwhelming din of noise that invaded her mind and quickened her breathing. Feeling her heart beginning to pound Jamyang's eyes snapped open, not today, she couldn't panic today especially knowing she had to face so many strangers and pretend like she had everything together. Looking longingly at the neatly stacked boxes that lined her cabin, she wanted so badly to take one of her scrolls or tomes out of its layers of wrapping and search her ancestors' words for a piece of wisdom that she could hold onto.
The rocking increasing as they approached the city Jamyang reached out a hand and a small creature with amber eyes, huge ears, and a black and white ringed tail jumped on and clambered up the young woman's arm and settled on her shoulder. Chuckling softly Jamyang reached up and scratched behind the lemur's ears, "at least you'll be there, right Tashi?" The pink-haired bender said softly, "we can take them together." she added reassuring herself. A smile crossing her face Jamyang pulled her caplet off the bed and pulled it across her shoulders letting Tashi hop onto her head to avoid the new layer. Her hair already pulled up into two pigtails Jamyang could feel the ends of her hair tickling the back of her neck accompanied by a fluffy tail. Plucking the lemur from her head the air bender gave Tashi one last squeeze before placing him back on her shoulder and heading up to the deck to meet the rest of her teammates. Thankfully not the last one up, Jamyang and the rest of the air nation members waited for Nol before they finally set off through the empty streets of a city waiting to be brought to life.
Walking in behind Nol, Jamyang felt a nervous smile tugging the corners of her mouth as she looked over the other nations in the room, her heart thumping louder as she glanced the red and contrasting black of the fire nation. Reminding herself that her fears were born of a place of grief and anger Jamyang bit her tongue and found her seat among her comrades to wait for the water nation to finally arrive.
Through the oppressive silence and awkward glances, Jamyang was relieved when a woman with pure snow-white hair walked into the room followed by a procession of water tribe members. Finally, this mission to coexistence and peace could begin first with a vow from each nation that this would be their goal. Bouncing her leg up and down Jamyang was relieved when she could finally stand and move around immediately going to find a corner where she didn't have to begin conversing right away. The young woman had only taken a few steps when she saw a figure from the corner of her eye and felt someone bump into her. Startled Jamyang took a step back and turned to immediately apologize only to find a palm in her face. Frozen and wide-eyed Jamyang didn't know whether to move or remain motionless, the woman facing her was taller than the air nomad, her bright red hair was partially pulled into a severe bun fixed in place with a flame-like crown. Everything seemed to pause in those moments, barely a whisper of breath passing Jamyang's lips as she waited to be blasted off her feet with a fireball. Staring into her azure eyes the young woman could see a glint of recognition as if the princess had realized that there was no threat and in that instant, her hands were brought down and the moment was over. Expelling a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding Jamyang found her smile, a little confused about being mistaken for an enemy the young woman knew that it would be better to just let this go and start off with the right foot. "No worries, it was an honest mistake," Jamyang began, finding her voice soft but surprisingly steady, "I'm Jamyang of the eastern air temple." she replied bowing in return. As she bowed Tashi's head poked up from the neck of her caplet apparently having hid behind the small air nomad and was now clinging to her back. Lifting up her arms Jamyang glanced down and noticed the Tashi's ringed tail whipping back and forth "and this is Tashi," she added stifling a laugh as she tried to pull her friend off her back with seemingly no luck.

With every wave crested Tarฤธik leaned his body into the motion, reaching forward to strike the air with his spear. The sun was beginning to rise over the waves spilling radiant light over the surface of the ocean and making the white stone of the city shine in the distance. Almost dancing his way across the deck Tarฤธik continued his daily training with only the crew as witnesses, often it was generally assumed that the young lieutenant was lazy and on the surface that was what he appeared to be. He moved with an ease that came with years of practice, his bone tipped spear an extension of his arm as it sliced and pierced the air in fluid motions. This routine had brought a sense of normalcy to this trip, for a moment Tarฤธik was back in the south his breath fogging in front of him as waves disappeared under sheets of ice bringing up a dusting of light snow against his cheeks. A sharp exhale of breath and a final strike at his invisible enemy and he was back to the reality the snow of his home replaced by ocean spray and a warm sun now bearing down on the ship.
Halfway through their journey Tarฤธik had found himself abandoning his furlined clothes for more simple cloth layers that would typically be hidden under thicker layers. The simple blue tunic he was currently wearing was now soaked with sweat and though he didn't care he knew that a certain princess wouldn't let him leave the ship as he currently was. Using a towel to wick away the sweat Tarฤธik tossed his tunic into a bag of dirty clothes and switched it for a similar robe with silver threads hemming the edges. Normally Tarฤธik would've put an undershirt with long sleeves underneath but given the heat, it seemed pointless and uncomfortable. Running a hand through his hair his fingers brushed over the carved bead, a gift from his mother before he'd left and apparently, a token his father practised his carving on. Though not going into battle Tarฤธik took his spear into his hands the weight comfortable and its' handle intricately carved having taken him many years to complete much like his mastery over the weapon.
Meeting the rest of the team on the docks Tarฤธik joined the procession into the city marvelling at the stone buildings that lined the streets as they headed deeper into Beifong City. The southern water tribe was a city built of ice and snow, more blinding than the stone in the light, and yet Tarฤธik couldn't deny the architectural marvel of this city. The city square was a sprawling marketplace, stalls ready to be inhabited but disconcertingly the city was deserted or at least, waiting to be brought to life. Watching Kiala study the fountain dedicated to Team Avatar, Tarฤธik felt a pang of sympathy for the young princess who'd been given the weight of the worlds to bear. This knowledge didn't stop Tarฤธik from smirking at her speech reminding the group as to why they were there, of course, he knew that it was his job to train water benders to help defend their new home.
Taking his seat the lieutenant leaned his spear against the table and stretched his legs out until it was finally over and he was allowed to stand. The rest of their morning was a blur of formal vows and introductions where Tarฤธik fought to keep his eyes open and look interested in all this ceremony. It took all of his resolve to not stretch as he stood now that it was time to mingle, not that he cared what the others thought of him, he just didn't need Kiala's disapproving stare. However, before Tarฤธik could start getting to know the leaders of the other nations he spied a familiar figure with flame-red hair slip out the door. Knowing Kiala could represent them the best anyways Tarฤธik followed his friend out of the meeting hall and down to the city centre where Reo sat in what seemed to be contemplation, perhaps overwhelmed by everything that was happening. A smirk playing at the corner of his mouth Tarฤธik stepped lightly as he approached Reo from the other side of the fountain. Moving his hand back and forth the water from the fountain began to sway gently, small waves lapping quietly against the edge of the fountain. With a snap of the wrist, a wall of water rose behind Reo ready to soak the young historian.
