against all odds, the faintest pang of relief flicked through troius's chest as he made brief eye contact with liberty. she was such a calming presence, a sister he looked up to literally his whole, relatively young life. soon, a small blonde girl huddled against her and, despite her literal-opposite-of-imposing stature, he was happy to see someone attempt standing up to warren like he managed to just minutes before. imagine that. of course, the tranquility was incredibly short-lived, and soon his blue eyes met some unsavory silver ones. tobias was carving a path through dancers directly to him, and before he could even begin to choose an expletive to shout, his throat was being crushed with the iron grip of oceanus's son. should've seen this coming, he mused, unable to let any words out through his weakening mortal windpipe. just how crazy did someone have to be to instigate something with a descendant of the actual sun? it was like superman purposely wearing kryptonite jewelry just to test his own limits. tobias hadn't changed a bit.
troius's eyes were wide, his hands gripping tobias's wrist as he pinned him against the wall. he hadn't felt such an urge to inflict pain on another until then, centuries of angst and pain and missed opportunities for vengeance beginning to toil in his chest. as a pacifist, he rarely felt a desire to hurt anyone, and if the thought managed to fully fester, he easily brushed it off. now, though, now? he might have considered killing toby if he was even half as strong as he was. tobias leaned back slightly, allowing a gasp of air to slip past troy's lips. his mind was a tornado of panic and he didn't have the patience to process a single thought (let alone the oxygen). his eyes flickered with fury as he studied the smug expression the other god wore. toby was usually smug, but it was especially insufferable in that moment. he brought his gaze back toward the bar where liberty sat, making surprising eye contact with warren that...gave him pause. he was sufficiently distracted for a few moments, and his heart lurched with longing. warren...what a good friend he used to be. was he missing him, too, as he strangled that poor blonde demigod and threatened liberty? was he out of line letting his emotions get the best of him and yelling at the son of zeus after they spent centuries apart? was he...wait. what the hell was that about?
brows now knit together in confusion, troy ripped his gaze from warren and channeled the rage that was still boiling in his very soul. his hands began to glow with toby's wrist still in his grip and he quickly flipped through his options──did he want to blind him? burn him? maybe a nice hand-shaped brand would look nice on his arm. he felt the fabric of toby's sleeve begin to singe beneath his hands, but everything stopped when an explosion ripped through the bar.
dozens and dozens of bottles of liquor shattered in a blaze of hellfire, and it didn't even take a second for troius to know warren was getting riled up as well. "of. course." the ocean of alcohol began to pour off the shelves, but it didn't make it very far. now a giant bubble of dark liquid, the liquor sloshed in place, and troius tilted his head as much as he could, given the situation. the screaming crowd parted, leaving a small demigod standing before the bar with arms outstretched. joey!! troy's heart lurched again, this time with unadulterated admiration. he could have sighed dreamily had he not have been in such a compromising position. soon enough, the roiling liquid mass gurgled its way toward him, quickly creeping up tobias's legs and flooding his very being. now it was troy's turn to be smug. the other god's grip was loosening significantly and he took the chance to wrench his hand back from his neck, fingers still glowing with the fiery heat of the sun. "sorry, i think my friend's calling me," he almost sang, slipping past the alcohol monster consuming toby and making his way through the frozen crowd to join the others at the bar. he wanted to hug joey, but couldn't risk breaking his focus, so he targeted warren and liberty and salem instead. keeley sat nearby, studying the situation closely. he wished he could have joined her in the audience, honestly.
"i thought you were scared of girls, warren," troy taunted as he approached the larger man, his fingers still gripping salem's neck. his eyes narrowed and he reached out to grab one of his arms, hands burning brighter now and lips forming a hesitant frown. he didn't want to hurt warren──he didn't wanna hurt anyone, but especially not him. but toby was around and that literally never ended well when the both of them were involved, so maybe it was time to take the offensive for once. with a sigh, troius allowed the light coating his palms to fully engulf his hands and tightened his hold on warren's arm with the intention to burn until he let salem go.
