    ━━━ ( inquisitor of desna | sylph | 36 | chaotic good | location: redwood inn | tags: hyzenthlay, nix/victoria, landon ) ━━━━━━━━
One of Leah's eyebrows arched up as a tall half-elf entered the inn. She was dark-skinned, dressed in green robes and gripping a staff. Leah recognized her overall bearing to be one of the Oaths of the Ancients, a group the sylph deeply respected. Keeping an eye on her as the tiefling stepped into the bar and somehow ended up in conversation with the half-elf, Leah's keen ears couldn't help but catch glimpses of their conversation. She tried not to take advantage of the wind, unlike her fellow sylphs, but after so long without contact from her goddess the slight breeze always present around her picked up a little bit.

Still, she tried her best to focus on her own drink, though it was difficult when yet another interesting figure made their way into the room. This was a half-orc, looking massive compared to the other patrons of the inn, though the paladin did seem to be rather tall as well. The sylph had come across many people from all walks of life in her travels, but this was the first time in a very long time that she could see so many of them in one place, and her brow furrowed. She could feel a pull to join them...Perhaps Desna did not necessarily have to speak in her dreams to communicate with the inquisitor.

Making up her mind, the sylph polished off her drink and stood, adjusting the starknives at her side and the cloth wrapping around her body to make sure all her markings were hidden. Satisfied, she drifted over to the group with a serene smile on her face. "It is rare that so many travelers are brought together in one place," she remarked. "May I join you?"

Hzenthlay watched as yet another figure approached them. What was going on? It was a rarity for him to have one person approach him, more or less three! Now the bard was certain that something unusual was going on, though he still could not grasp what it could be. A few years ago he would have thought they were hit men, all of different races and appearances to throw him off the scent. However, now that he had actual experience with hit men, he knew it was highly unlikely that any of these people were sent to kill him. Hit men carried themselves differently than any of these people did; much more reserved and careful with their words. No, this was something entirely different, but what? Not knowing was eating him up inside. Hyznethlay liked being to the know about things, having grown up in a situation that was very unpredictable and dangerous. He had gotten used to the liberty of knowing exactly when and how things would play out when constructing his schemes as, more of the time, they tended to work without a hitch. Going back to that same helpless position of ignorance was unsettling, to say the very least.

The tiefling smiled at the newcomer, nodding to an open seat. "The more the merrier, my friend!" He replied. He took this opportunity to observe their newest addition, trying to deduce as much about her as possible. She was the oldest of the group so far, at least five years older than himself. Regardless, she was still a beautiful and put-together individual from what he could tell. She looked to be a slyph, a race he had little experience or knowledge of. Of course, she could always be a changeling in disguise, but their kind was rare in those parts. Hyzenthlay noticed how carefully she stood, keeping certain parts of her body concealed. Not a stance for concealing weapons but certainly one for concealing tattoos. Maybe she was once part of a group she is now ashamed of? Maybe she got a little too tipsy one night and a tattoo dare went overboard? He could not be sure just yet. He offered her the whisky bottle, head tilting in a coy manner. "Would you like a drink? I've already payed for the whole bottle, so you can have as much as you like."

Jaelen de Rán 001

Male - 22 - Aasimar- Lawful Good - White Mage - Tavern - Tags: Open - Mentions: No one

Getting off of his white horse, Friar, the mysterious traveler let out a sigh as his feet hit the ground. People could not tell by looking at him he was an Aasimar since he hid his face with a hood and dyed his hair darker. Sometimes it is best to hide one's angelic nature. Jaelen led his beautiful horse to a wooden poll before tying it down. Slowly the man petted the horse along the bridge of its nose, "Almost done. Just after this, we will leave," he whispered to the mount. The young noble left his home two years ago with this horse as his only reminder and full-time companion. Of course, along the way, the Aasimar met other travelers or heroes but he had to keep moving since he had to follow his diety's quest. This journey led to none other than the Kingdom of Losite, which he visited years ago when he was young. It only seems like the ex-royal has only been continuing his royal duties ever since he was charged to complete his so-called destiny. But for some reason this mission felt...different. Nevermind let's just get back to what's happening now.

Drops of crimson blood fell and hit the lime green grass as Jaelen moved from Friar to the wooden door. With each step, he could hear the gasps and discussed groans from some strangers. Instead of opening the door with civility, the Aasimar had to kick open the door which created a loud slam forcing all of the patron's attention onto him; much to his dismay. The smell of rusted iron was apparent as he walked by before being masked by his natural sea salt and cinnamon musk. The experienced mage soon was at the wooden bar and stared down the bartender before slamming a severed head onto the counter. "There is your troll. Now tell me where is she," his voice was commanding as he wanted the information. The bartender was not expecting such a display as he looked around at his customers which led to some babbling, "Yo-you did not- You could've waited. Not-not do all of this," but it only resulted in the wizard lowering his hood. "I did your request. The village is safe from this dire troll. Now point me in the direction of who I am looking for." The young prince was not about to repeat his sentence as he ignored the surrounding patrons while he stared down the pub owner.

Nix | 006

Postby winter solstice. » Wed Apr 15, 2020 6:31 pm

Nix / Victoria Leostara
Nix | 25 years old | lawful neutral | changeling | nonbinary (they/them) | druid (circle of the shepherd) | current persona: Victoria (she/her) | location: Redwood inn | tagged: Hyzenthlay, Landon, Leah, mentions Jaelen
Victoria offered her free hand, the other holding onto her staff, as she introduced herself to the half-orc man, "Victoria Leostara. Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Morgan." She was pleasantly surprised that he was a sailor, someone used to the seas. She was terribly seasick, and could not go on a ship for her life. She turned her attention to the door as the sylph from earlier came back in. She couldn't help it, observing everything in her sight was second nature to her, owing from Nix's days as a spy. She nodded politely as the woman asked to join the three of them, only to turn toward the door as a man came in holding the severed head of a troll, her brow raising up at the appearance of such an... interesting item.

Yuuka glanced around from where she sat, she noticed a crowd forming at the bar and a colourful character drawing a bit of attention to them. He was a tad loud and looked to be gaining some attention to them. Upon hearing his name she tilted her head slightly but not enough to make it obvious. She looked down to her table where a piece of paper lay before her. 'Hyzenthlay Staggleam, Hyzenthlay Widowsweep, Hyzenthl-' And so the list continues. This Hyzenthlay fellow made quite a name for himself around many a town but not too much of the good kind. The gold coin waiting with her name on it could agree. She'd noticed he'd invited himself to sit with one, invited another to sit with them and then another invited them self. Yuuka looked thoughtfully to her page before taking it and putting it into her kimono. She debated how to execute this, she could invite them to her table seeing as she had plenty of room, or perhaps she could walk and join much like the other girl. She bit her lip before putting her head down, before hearing a loud bang.

Immediately her head lifted to see the new character enter and her eyes lit up. This was perhaps the most perfect opportunity to get close to them at the bar now. She beamed and quickly masked it with a look of shock as she stood and cautiously neared the bar. Her eyes solely focused on the troll head, not to give away her true intentions. "
My gods, did that man really take down a dire troll alone? I've never had the chance to see one so close before..." She was awfully close to the gang now and stopped when standing directly beside them, peering over them as best she could to glance at the troll head.

「 The Dragon's Curse | 009 」

[ twenty-five ] [ male ] [ tiefling ] [ bard ] [ location: redwood, inn interior ] [ tags: nix/victoria, landon, leah, jaelen, (mentioned) yuuka ]
Hzenthlay's eyes widened as a slim yet handsome man suddenly slammed a troll's head down on the counter only a few feet away from them. What a kill! Did he take it down alone? Or was there help involved that he neglected to mention? Either way, he must have been a powerful man to be able to take down such a beast. His dark locks frame a pale face, giving him an almost ghostly look. The tiefling's eyes wandered back to the troll head, his heart rate picking up slightly. He had gotten uncharacteristically quiet, his tail wrapping back around the bar stool. If that man could take down a fully grown troll and live to tell the tale, just imagine what he could do to a mere tiefling like himself. While things had gotten better for his kind over the past hundred years, his grandfather still told tales of the days when tieflings were hunted down like animals, their horns displayed as trophies upon their hunter's wall. The bigger or more intricate the horns, the more money you could get for them on the black market. Hzenthlay shuttered at the thought, glad those days were long behind them. If he had been alive during those days he did not know what he would have done. Unable to perform or appear publicly, at least without a magical disguise of sorts, he no doubt would have been miserable.

The bard's eyes briefly caught another female figure. She had originally been sitting farther away but appeared to have gotten closer. His head tilted slightly, a movement very similar to her own, and gave her a quick once over. After determining that she was not a threat (a grave miscalculation), he turned back to his new companions and forced a smile back onto his face. "I never could have imagined meeting so many new faces in such a short period of time. It's really quite amazing. I can't say I'm not pleased with it, though, given what the past few months of been like. Can you imagine traveling in a packed, sweaty caravan for miles on end? Let me tell you, the company gets tired and cranky very quickly." His eyes drifted back over the the troll killer as he seemingly made up his mind about something. He called out, holding up the whisky bottle as he did so. "Come, celebrate with us! It seems you certainly have good reason to!"

The bartender opened his mouth, "She i-" "Ah. Wait," the wizard interrupted while holding up his gloved index finger. He soon smelled a feminine scent near him and judging by how close these people were it was are to tell. Nevertheless, he pulled out a scrap piece of paper from his pouch and slammed it down next to the head, "Write it." His tan eyelids slightly squinted at the older male before he muttered, "Do not want to forget it. That way if it is wrong I know who to blame," his fake brown eyes looked to his side to see a new figure step forth. She was not a species he was familiar with but look human he had no reason to be suspicious of her. Soon he smelled more of a floral fragrance. It was like a mixture of pine and some roses before being followed by a voice.

One word came to his mind as he faced the voice. Tiefling. Aasimar's were the natural enemy of the infernal race, however, Jaelen did not have any reason to dislike a Tiefling for the mistake done by their ancestors. The blue skin was uncommon to see since he usually saw the beautiful ruby red to pink hues. Though he did enjoy the peppering of freckles on the male's face for it made him look youthful and innocent in his opinion. The Tiefling was doing well until he opened his mouth. The smell of fermented rye and wheat singed his nostrils hairs as it left the flamboyant Tielfing's mouth. The once sweet and earthy smell was replaced by a powerful unescaping stench of distilled alcohol. A small frown appeared on the mage's lips as he heard the bard's invitation, "I am just here for the information." Then he stepped forward with his face inches away from the Tiefling's. Soon his hand touched the glass bottle before he poured some of the strong liquid into a glass. He slid the glass to a another drinker before he held the bottle steady, "I do not celebrate. Let alone with this poisonous substance you call whiskey." He placed the bottle back into the owner's hand before slyly saying with a small fake grin, "Thanks for the invitation but I am all good," he commented before he patted the Tiefling's arm in a friendly manner. Once he turned way the grin fell from his lips as he watched the bartender write away.

At first the bard was quite pleased by the reaction. Their newest arrival seemed fairly interested in him, observing him with those sharp eyes, and Hyzenthlay was never one to shy away from attention or praise. While the other was not as attractive to him as Landon, he would be lying if he said he was not attractive at all. He also seemed to be quite a skilled fighter, if that troll's head was anything to go by. He would have very much liked to hear more of this man's adventures. Then the man had to go and ruin it by opening up his mouth. Hzenthlay frowned, his eyes narrowing slightly. While it may not have been intentional, the reply had come across as condescending. The way his lips quirked upwards into a sly smirk and the passive-aggressive shoulder touch just rubbed the tiefling the wrong way. There was something else about him, yet another feeling he couldn't quite place, that felt wrong too. He didn't trust this man one bit and felt the immediate urge to distance himself from him. Regardless, he forced a smile back onto his face before he replied. "Well, that is a shame. You'll be missing out on quite the party later. Song, drinks, magic tricks, fortune readings..." He was purposely trying to get the man interested now. He would feel no qualms about robbing him blind, should be decide to show up that night.

<<Landon T. Morgan>>
○ Paladin ○ Oath Of the Sea ○ ♂ ○ 28~ ○ Bi ○ Location: Redwood;Tavern ○ Tags: Nix-Victoria/Hyzenthlay/Leah/Jalen ○

'Well this tavern is just full up on odd, borderline rude people.' Landon thought. He eyed the troll head and a vaguely uncomfortable sense washed over him like the sea sickness he hadn't felt since he was a baby. The general similarities in looks between many kinds of trolls and orcs, even some half-orcs, was not lost on him. Large, green skinned, sharp teeth. Landon gently clacked his own teeth together as he pulled his gaze away, his tusked poked far from his bottom lip. Still, no need to let anyone in to his discomfort, he was already ostracized enough for being a half-orc. In a fluid motion, he downed the rest of his rum and offered his temporary companions a nod while wearing a roguish lopsided smile. "Lovely to meet you all, maybe I will be dropping by that show later?" He threw a wink in Hyzenthlay's direction before adjusting his shirt open a little more to show off his extensive tattoo work, and going out into the street. Only when he passed the doors of the tavern did he take and even breath.

People? People he liked. But those people? Landon knew that they were the sort that Lorik and the Captain would want him to avoid. Too sneaky, too convoluted. That was their job. The half-orc let himself rest against the outside wall of the tavern, his sharp black nails tracing the lines of the tattoo on his other wrist. The smell of the sea wafted to his nose even though this town was no place near it and Landon sighed. The silent words were obvious to the long time paladin. He had to go to the show, it was the path that he came here for. The breeze was gone right after.

Her eyes followed the half-orc's, she couldn't help but wonder what compelled him to leave. However, judging from the slightly pale look that she thought that perhaps he was squeamish around blood. A concept that she couldn't quite wrap her head around as crimson painted much of her past. She then raised a brow noticing the way in which the man before them carried himself. She frowned she wasn't sure of the man's intentions however she could tell he was somewhat proper. 'Yuck' she thought before edging closer studying the Dire Troll's head as the blood oozed out of it and onto the bar counter. "That'll be a tough stain to lift... who knows perhaps you're doing this innkeeper the pleasure of matching his woodwork's colour to the name of the establishment." She flashed a sweet smile, and glanced at the group before the whiskey. She glanced at Hyzenthlay he was eager for this man to join them, perhaps he had an ulterior motive. She again smiled at the gentleman and outstretched an arm inviting he si., "Sir perhaps you could do us the great honor of telling us how it is a single man could slay such a mighty beast? I dare say it could be tale turned to song. This village is indebted greatly to you sir".
