Every 200 years, there is an unknown arcane force that crawls from the depths of Lake Onota, and finds its way into the tiny town of Whitefield Massachusetts- with deadly intentions. Oblivious to the infamous legends that come hand in hand with the change of season, a rather rowdy group of high schools students from Whitefield High in the midst of exam prep and world-crashing drama, fall into the terrifyingly mystic hands of the unknown. Little do they realize, they all are the very last descendants of one of the most powerful hereditary covens to have ever existed; and something is trying to destroy them. As summer break nears closer and time begins to tick faster, the students mysteriously begin to find one another amidst horrific tragedy, near death experience and personal loss- and discover that if they want to survive, they have to come together and continue the historic ritual of their ancestors to keep Lake Onota's power at bay.
Lake Onota has long been cursed by occultists during the historic Salem witch trials of the late 1600s, at the time serving as a spell protected safe space for the many witches on the run. But legend says, that roughly 76 recorded witches had committed suicide by jumping in the lake with rocks in their pockets. It's said that they had given themselves as sacrifice to appease the practice of Geotia and to obtain true bliss and freedom amongst the devil's kingdom in exchange for their fear and pain. Now after every two centuries of rest, Lake Onota sends out it's lowest, most hellishly hungry demons to find even more susceptible witches and call them back to the lake's hell kingdom- manipulating and eventually even possessing them to further appease it's cravings. Of course, growing covens knew this had become a danger beyond just themselves- the entire world could be at risk for war. Yearly rituals were then held in mass to try and contain the power of the Lake from ever harming anybody further. But now that it's been far more just a handful of centuries of upkeep, witches have been slowly dying off due to the modern age- and the battle is slowly being lost. Only so many witches remain, and the cycle has to stop.
