Elowyia had woken up rather early that morning, unlike every day of the weekend. The days leading up to it had been draining to say the least, and on Friday the blonde had all but collapsed after Leo and Tema had left - the latter bandaged neatly and told to watch for infection. Elowyia wasn't used to this much interaction, this much expressed emotion in such a short period of time, and it was doing crazy things to her mind and body. She'd been tired all weekend, sluggish and not wanting to get out and garden. Though, that didn't stop her from caring for her beloved plants and tending to the protective charms that hung along the fence. Today felt like the first day the book keeper hadn't been tired in some fashion since Lars' death, and a slight twinge of guilt ran through her at the thought. She didn't want it to seem like she had moved on quickly, as she hadn't, but she knew that the man's death hadn't impacted her nearly as badly as it had his family and close friends. Elowyia just didn't have the anxiety of the death and the odd strangers along with the sudden burst of activity the small group of tourists had brought with them in the forefront of her mind right then.
xxxx
So the blonde had taken advantage of this sudden uplift in energy and lack of stress to visit her favorite magick shop. Middle Path was about five minutes away from the center of Cranberry, and while it was a bit of a hike it was well worth it to visit the cozy little store. Elowyia tried to visit once a month, to pick up herbs she couldn't grow at home, new candles and incense when she ran out, and various charms or tools she needed to replace or couldn't make herself. They also had a large selection of books on the blonde's craft that she'd begun hoarding as of late, and her plan was to continue the growth of said collection today. The only downside to the store was that due to how small it was and how full of lit candles and lanterns and just stuff in general it happened to be quite warm inside, so she had chosen to wear a short sleeved black crop top and high waisted shorts spattered with embroidered stars - a much more revealing outfit than Elowyia typically wore. She had very little confidence in her physical appearance, but it was worth stepping out of her comfort zone for Middle Path.
xxxx
Pushing open the heavy oak door to the store, a sneakered foot darted out to keep it open as someone exited. It seemed to be rather busy inside that day, Elowyia noted, which was rather surprising. Not many were aware of the store, to the extent of the blonde's knowledge, but as long as it benefited the owners she could handle a few people. Stepping up to a nearby shelving unit of boxed incense, she began browsing immediately.

Bright Malinon ♆
Second in Command| Location ➵ Hunter's House | Mentions ➵ Farris
▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬ ▬

Bright lay propped up against his backboard, lazily staring at the rays of sun cast up against his wall from the window behind him. He was lost in his own thoughts, the usual roar just a little over a murmur. Bright's mind hadn't lost its busy blur, but it was more quiet compared to how it usually was. The spot where Harlow slept was cold, the temporary recruit long gone. Bright could tell by the position of the sunrays that it was still early, climbing out of bed. He tried to fix it as well as he could but gave up at some point. It was hard doing a lot of his usual activities with one arm strapped to his body, but he managed just fine most times. Grabbing his clothes from his closet, he opened the door. Just as he expected, the house was quiet, most of the hunter's already having started their days. He made his way into the bathroom, locking the door behind him. It took him a few seconds to get his sling off before he stepped in the shower, relishing the warmth. He remembered the day he came back from the hunt and stood in the shower, watching the red water wash down the drain, a smile so large on his face that he felt it for the rest of the day. Even though the hunter had been covered in scrapes and scratches, he had paid them no attention, his gaze transfixed on the draining liquid. Even when bloody water got in his eyes, he merely blinked it away, otherwise not moving. Now, he just enjoyed the water washing over his head, a much different picture from that day.

He was in the kitchen a quarter of an hour later, shuffling through the cabinets. He took a moment to admire the shiny counters which he had cleaned the previous day, the tall man basically taking on the role of housewife since he spent must of the time inside. For a second, he wished that Jack was there so he could convince him to cook him something. Bright hadn't really touched a stove in years and honestly liked Jack's home cooking, but since the leader was most likely working, he grabbed a yogurt, getting the spoon with the same hand. He'd eat it out on the porch. Upon Spotting Farris out on the porch, he raised his eyebrows in a greeting, a smile soon growing on his face as he took in her relaxed countenance. "It's a beautiful morning." He commented, turning his face to the sun. He looked back at her before putting the yogurt down on the railing and placing the spoon safely on top. "Hey," he started, pulling out his wallet, "Can you get me something from the bakery next time you go into town?" He wrangled out a couple of bills, handing them to her. Since he couldn't go into town without the chance of raising some suspicion, he often had Farris getting stuff for him. He would have felt bad, but he'd lost count of all the times Farris had used him as a personal shopping cart, and he knew that she would gladly do it again the next chance she got. Bright longed to go back into town and begin in fieldwork again, but walking around with an arm in a sling and a scratched up face shortly after the hunt would surely raise questions from the wrong person. If that wolf decided to get revenge on him while he had an arm strapped to himself, he would probably be in big trouble.

𝙰𝚗𝚒𝚜𝚑𝚊 𝙳𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚗
➢ pack member | female | twenty-two | location - somewhere??? | mentions/tags - none
Annie had been a bit shocked when Bruno had immediately shifted into his wolf form and raced off. She had hoped that she could help him, as she never liked there to be conflict between packmates. She turned to look back at Johann, she didn't know what to feel at that moment. She felt that she couldn't help any of her packmates. But soon she was left standing alone on the hill wishing she had power to do something. Hours had passed and she had just wandered around the farm trying to relieve her stress just enough so she wouldn't go crazy. She had decided that she should probably turn just so her wolf could calm down. Annie went back to the barn and undressed so that she didn't tear through her clothes. She then closed her eyes and picked at the wall in her mind. There was a familiar popping sound and she hissed softly from the pain. She felt her face crack and break as it formed into a snout. In a matter of seconds, there stood a full-grown wolf, ready for anything. Annie opened her eyes and darted out of the barn. Her sense of smell guiding her down to the forest that surrounded the farm. Her wolf was excited for a run and would make sure it got it. Annie was happy. She weaved through the trees and didn't have a care in the world. By the time she was done running it had become dark. Annie decided that she may as well just sleep there since she hadn't been in her wolf form in a long time. She felt more herself as the wolf, though sometimes it was lonely. After a few minutes of searching for a place to sleep, Annie found a hollow tree trunk and curled up inside, falling asleep almost instantly.

➢➢➢

Annie woke up with a jerk and immediately regretted it as her head hit the side of the tree she had decided to sleep in. She had changed back to her human form and groaned softly as she rubbed her head. She had a huge headache and it wasn't only from hitting the tree. "I'm never going to let the wolf make the decisions again." She crawled out from the tree and made her way back to the farm quickly since she didn't have her clothes. She knew no one was around and yet she still covered herself with leaves as well as her hands and arms. "What was I thinking, sleeping in the forest? God, I'm such an idiot, I still need to buy groceries." Finally making it to the barn, Annie threw her clothes on quickly and reached into her pocket to pull out her phone. Looking at it she cursed softly. She had a missed call from Johann. Clicking on the new voicemail he had left, she turned up the volume and held her phone an inch away from her face not wanting her headache to worsen. Listening she groaned a bit, "The perfect time for this to happen. When we have hunters out to get us." She texted Johann quickly. On my way, don't need to call. Won't pick up. Headache. Annie got into her car and drove back to the cabin.

➢➢➢

A lot of stuff had happened in the past three days and Annie had basically stayed in the cabin the entire time. Everyone had gone looking for the wolf who was going on a rampage. Which resulted in Crane getting attacked and sadly in him dying. That was pretty hard on Kota and Annie always tried her best to help her feel a bit better whenever she saw her. Though, Annie mainly stayed in her room, staring out the window, only coming out to hunt and cook for the pack. She ate very little, but it wasn't because of any problems she had going on, she was just lost in thought most of the time. Somewhere out there, a wolf pack was watching and they were dangerous and out of control. She was beginning to feel that she was powerless with the entire situation. Sighing as she was shaken from her thoughts, Annie stretched. Popping sounds seemed to echo around her room as she stood up and walked to her door. She might as well eat something since she hadn't yet today. She opened her door and exited almost bumping into Johann and Kota hugging. She stared at them for a few seconds before realizing she was being awkward and snuck past them, hoping not to bump into either of them ruining the moment. She felt that if she had just hugged them and then spun them around to get by it would seem a bit awkward and maybe a bit rude. Walking down the steps he noticed Xavier standing by the door playing on his Gameboy. Shrugging, she decided to stand next to him. "Whatcha playing?"

『 Tema 』- no. 46

Postby Wallflower11 » Thu Aug 13, 2020 4:15 pm

『 Tema Snow 』
| Location - Tema's House -> Town | tagged/interacting - (open) |

Tema looked into her empty fridge with intense concentration as if just by glaring at the shelves would fill them with food.
She huffed closing the door with a resounding thud. Well, there was something she had to do today, she thought. Turning to the rest of the room which housed her entire living space (minus the bathroom), it was a mess, the newly clean laundry in piles on beside her bed, discarded paint-covers paper towels littering the floor, canvases leaning against every wall drying. Maybe groceries weren't the only thing she needed to do today. The dark-haired woman had spent her weekend painting, she had gotten an impressive amount done, completing at least three orders and several others she had sketches of planned out earlier. Unfortunately, her focus on painting meant that she had basically neglected anything else she needed to do. Painting had always been an escape from overwhelming thoughts and feelings for Tema, it helped her slow down and process things at a pace her brain could keep up with. Honestly, with the week she had, it was no surprise she had fallen into her art for the past two days, and as tempting as it was for her to go back to work and churn out another couple paintings today, she had adult things she had to do today.

Tema shed her paint-covered clothes and took a shower, something she hadn't done since she had gotten home Friday evening. The bathroom had fogged up by the time she had rid her hair of paint and whatever else she had managed to get in it during her creative frenzy. Wrapping herself in her fluffiest towel she flopped out to her bed taking a few minutes to enjoy not looking like a Jackson Pollock painting anymore. Despite the excitement, Friday had brought Tema wasn't all that bothered by the events that had played out all the emotions she had felt in the moment had faded away leaving it as another story to tell when she ran out of things to say and felt awkward.

Her thoughts darting back to Friday she sat up unwinding the bandage around her arm, she had redressed the wound on Saturday to make sure it was completely covered when she painted. Tema's dark eyes slowly inspected her forearm, it wasn't as bad as it had been, an angry hand-shaped bruise stared back at her punctuated by thin scabs made by the weird woman's nails. The scabs had healed enough that Tema thought she could probably go without the full bandage for the day she went into the bathroom and put a large band-aide over the scabs.

She returned to the main room to put on her clothes, a freshly cleaned tee shirt, and her favorite pair of overalls (which were only slightly paint-stained). Before putting away the clean clothes that were heaped on the floor and picking up the littered waste that had come from her painting adventure. Once that was finished Tema smiled putting her hands on her hips in a superhero-esque pose and looked proudly at her progress. Already after only under two hours of work, she felt so much better not being surrounded by clutter. Now the hard part actually getting the motivation to go outside and interact with the world. She sighed scrunching her face up, her least favorite part of the day. She was mostly kidding though, as despite all the terrible things that seemed to be haunting Cranberry lately she had seemed to actually have found some footing to make her place in the community as a member and not an outsider. That thought put her earlier smile back on her face.

Tema grabbed her backpack for her for groceries, she didn't need much as she usually went twice a week when it was warm and nice like it was now, it was a short walk and a great way to make sure she actually left her house. She made sure to fill up her water bottle before she left, not wanting to get dehydrated and get a headache or something. Tema put on her sneakers and left her tiny house. She took a deep breath of the fresh air before making her way to town.

"... and I told her that, but she got annoyed! I'm telling you, Susan, someone's going to be disappointed. Can't we at least do an extension until we get more feedback? . . . . Fine, I'll start searching, but just know that I'm not happy with this." Leo waited for the click of the call being ended before lowering his phone from his ear and letting out a quiet sigh. He'd barely woken up, and there was already a lot on his plate. It was coming close to the time where the cafe would do the seasonal shift in their selection. They'd put a survey in a holder on the counter a month before and had asked people to fill it out as they ordered. They'd keep the baked goods that people liked the most and switch the others out for a new selection, but Leo had apparently done too good of a job picking the last one because almost every one pastry and sandwich had a good review. He had to switch some out, but that meant people may show less interest in the cafe if they found their favorites gone. "And I have to do this by myself every year." He grumbled, sinking into his desk chair and opening his laptop. Susan had caught him before he could even dress properly, the large man only in his night pants. Not to mention that he hadn't even gotten the chance to take a shower. It's unfortunate when your boss knows when you wake up.

He opened a binder by his laptop and flipped through it, giving a hum as he found their list of current selections. It was never fun to pick the new array of items. He didn't even want to think about having to shuffle the drinks around. Susan used to do it with him, but once Charlie's health started faltering, she withdrew from the project to take care of him. If she were anyone else, he would have thought she was just trying to get out of it, but she was just as and most likely more hardworking than Leo. The seasonal switch was no easy task, and it often took Leo days to get find new selections, decided which old ones to get rid of, and figure out what he needed for the new ones.

However, Leo decided to work on that later. He knew he wouldn't concentrate completely if he didn't at least get a shower in and maybe some tea. He had been in an odd daze since the incident with the strange werewolves. He was majorly torn as to what to do. Common sense was to tell someone, but who? Cannibalistic werewolves; who would believe him? He chewed at the inside of his mouth as he spun slowly in his chair. He'd spent days thinking, but he could only think so much when he was working. He had to throw away a batch of rolls after messing them up because he hadn't been paying attention, shocking both him and Susan, as it was a first for him. For now, Leo just decided to not say anything. He didn't want to cause panic around the town. But there was perhaps a bigger reason. Merely the fact that most people wouldn't believe him. He didn't want to be called a Satanist again and now crazy. Leo didn't mind being at the center of attention, but he hated when people looked at him as if he were some harmful and despicable monster.

He spun till he started getting lightheaded, standing up afterward to walk to his bathroom. A shower would do him good, he needed to get his head cleared out. Any worrying could be done once he was done taking care of the seasonal switch. And the shower worked, the baker coming out three times more relaxed than when he had gone in. Since he was staying home the whole day, he just pulled on some sweats. It was too hot for a shirt, anyways, in his opinion. He sat himself back in front his laptop, idle-mindedly toweling off his damp hair.

𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙤𝙬 - no. 15

Postby Wallflower11 » Fri Aug 14, 2020 12:02 pm

𝙃𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙤𝙬 𝙎𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙝
| Location - Hunters House | tagged/interacting - Hunters, Bite |

Harlow drummed his fingers on his leg as he waited for Bite to finish her business in the backyard of the hunter's house. His attention sweeping around the small area he had become familiar with over the past two days. He had spent most of the weekend acquainting himself with the job, and area lore the best he could. All that time in the house had made him antsy, Harlow always needed to be doing something sitting around in one location for too long only would lead to him getting stuck in his own head, which was never all that good. Bite let out a clipped bark, giving Harlow a look as he turned back to her. "Yeah, yeah, I know, we'll get out and about today." He replied to the she-wolf with a sigh her uncanny ability to read him showing itself again.

After cleaning up after Bite he headed around to the front of the house, the she-wolf following at his heels. He quirked the corner of his mouth as he rounded the house, the two younger hunters were out on the front porch enjoying the morning sun. Harlow was glad that they two had bounced back relatively well from the town's hunt on Friday. Bright's injuries were healing well and Farris seemed more determined than before. The two were eating their breakfasts the scene had this weird surreal quality to it, where there was the outside appearance and then the actual context beneath. Harlow himself had already had his breakfast as soon as he woke up.

"Good morning," He greeted joining his fellow hunters on the porch, catching the end of Bright question to Farris he added, "If you're heading into town I could give you a ride partway there," he offered, Harlow knew they weren't supposed to be seen together, but he didn't see the harm in at least offering to shorten the walk to town and drop Farris off in an inconspicuous spot away from the view of Cranberry's residents.

The ginger looked up from his spot on the floor, smiling toothily up at his newfound companion. Xaviar hadn't seen much of Annie over the weekend, but then again he hadn't really seen anyone at all. It felt like they had all isolated themselves in one way or another, and he was glad that the little period of separation was at least temporarily ending. The redhead hoped that it was more than just temporary. He missed his pack members - despite his brief escape out the window to outright avoid them (that was an exception) - and was more than ready to bother them all week. Pushing himself up so that he could stand next to the brunette, Xaviar held out his little gameboy to her, a just finished level of tetras displayed in the classic gray scale pixels.
xx
"Just a little tetras. I wasn't even sure if this thing was dead or not so I'm happy I could play it at all. Are you gonna go grocery shopping? Johann's going so I'm tagging along, I want more s'mores poptarts and gummy bears. My stash ran out. Did you know that if you took every gummy bear made in a year and lined them up they'd circle the Earth like four times? I was googling it the other day I think and I think that's super cool ya know? But yeah, grocery shopping! You want to come?" Xaviar babbled, gameboy waved around in his precarious grip as he went on. His rambling were cut short when he nearly dropped the retro console, hastily tightening his grip and depositing it in his sweatpants pocket again. He could already feel the heat rushing to the tips of his ears, and the ginger rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. Of course the first thing he did upon leaving his room was slip up in front of someone. But there was nothing he could do about it now and nothing bad had come of it.
xx
Holding a finger up to his lips, Xaviar glanced down at Annie with wide eyes. "No one saw that, got it? It didn't even happen." The man whispered, smiling behind the appendage.

<<Dakota M. Calhoun>>
○ Pack Member ○ :female_sign: ○ 26 ○ Pan ○ Location: Cabin ○ Tags: Johann ○

Dakota shattered. Melting into Johann's arm and hardly able to keep her legs from buckling. Her breathing was strangled and desperate as she tried to find something to say. As much as she had needed to be alone after Jacob's death she needed this too. To have one of her people there with her, holding her. "He's- he's gone, J. He's gone." Her voice was choked and an octave higher with her grief. She tried to let Johann's familiar smell and presence calm her down but it felt like the slowly scabbing over wound had been ripped back open.

She let herself stew in the torrent of emotions, using Johann as her metaphorical rock for as long as he let her. It took a few minutes for her to be able to let him go. Scrubbing her eyes, Dakota took a moment before sighing. "Look, um, I've got to do some stuff. Can we, I dunno, hangout later or something? I'm over being alone." She bit her lip as the list of things she had to do queued up in her head. Settling Jacob's will was first on the list, his only family where his grandparents and they where up there in years so Jacob and made her the executor of his will when they'd gotten close. Then, the next order of business was to absolutely shake her world up and turn it upside down. It wasn't even a little bit of a good idea to do all of this right now but her plan was the only thing that had gotten her out of bed today.

Finally forcing her eyes back up to Johann, she smiled weakly. None of the pain was gone but somehow she felt better know he was there.

//Wyatt L. Shaw\\
○ Human-Vet ○ ♂ ○ 26 ○ Bi ○ Location: Pine Mountain Vet Clinic ○ Tags: Open ○

With a morning full of taking care of his own critters, Shaw was wide awake and ready for the day. He had taken Stella out and spent some quality time with Inigo so that the bird would be content to hangout by himself through the day until Shaw could check on him later. Breakfast with Dodger was always a workout because the little thief really wanted anything in Shaw's hand. Or to be in Shaw's hand. Either way it was work. After penning the ferret back up Shaw changed into some silly patterned button up or another, slacks, and his work shoes before venturing downstairs to open up for the day.

Not long after he'd gone into the clinic, Cindy and Tani showed up to work. He grinned at Cindy's exhausted appearance. "Someone had a fun weekend?" The usually bubbly woman glared at him while she fixed her hair.

"Shut up." Shaw just stuck his tongue out at her like the professional he was before letting her go to the break room to put her stuff down. He traded a look with his other assistant, both of them happy to tease Cindy when they had the chance. Especially when she was trying to meddle in his love life like a nosy little cupid. With the help of his two workers, the front waiting room was straightened out with pamphlets and the final posters and info cards put out. Shaw was ecstatic. This kind of thing would be his day to day now and he was so happy about it. In a few days he even had a handful of farm and at home appointments set up and was looking forward to it.

||Jack U. Kaʻaukai||
○ Leader Of The Hunters ○ ♂ ○ 34 ○ Location: Hunters' House living room ○ Tags: Open ○

Jack really wished retirement was an option for him. Don't misunderstand, he'd had plenty of difficult hunts in the past, but all of this was getting mad annoying. Those he knew to be wolves weren't acting like they should and some unknown elements came tearing through doing all of the things he'd been expecting from the original pack. All of it was headache inducing, especially when he had people who decided to cause problems with the locals for no reason. His and Farris's chat had explained a few things but it didn't absolve the situation, not that there was much he could do that would fix anything.

He felt older than he really was getting up that morning. Old wounds, like his knee that had been broken more than once, ached just a little bit more than usual.

Cracking his fingers and rolling out his shoulders, Jack had gotten up with the sun and he'd spent the morning reading. It was one of the few books he had that wasn't for research purposes. Though he loved reading, there wasn't much room in his transient lifestyle for carrying around things that weren't strictly necessary. This particular book was old and well read, the title having faded a while ago. 'By Force Of Arms' wasn't exactly the best story Jack had ever read but it was one he knew and could easily read without having to pay attention very hard. It made space for his mind to wander. So many problems and answers that didn't make sense. Jack still really wished he could retire.
