┥the sassy lone wolf - 006.┝

while she was confused with the pale female's reaction and possessiveness, rory couldn't really care less. she had no interest in the male so she simply ignores the display. rory turns her attention to johann as he gives her a bit of a growl and pulls her ears back at him and gives a snort in return. as if she was stupid enough to try anything after being allowed into a pack. she might be a loner, but she wasn't a feral idiot like most loners.

as johann leads them back to their home, rory follows behind, but more off to the side than directly behind like the others. she keeps her distance from the rest of the pack for now, not trusting them to show any friendliness to a stranger that was all but thrust into their midst. rory hadn't really mingled with the others in her previous packs. they didn't care enough to try either so she just did her own thing and kept to herself. it was more like she was a loner within a pack than a true member so it's hard to change that mindset so suddenly.

upon getting closer to the pack's house, they slowed to a trot and rory watches as the others head for the cabin while johann heads for the cars. she stands in the yard unsure of what to do for a minute, but she hears a car trunk open and close so she looks in that direction and spots johann standing with a blanket. rory was thrown for a bit upon seeing him in human form and eyes the blanket suspiciously before glaring at it when he speaks. the she-wolf hasn't shifted human in months and wasn't about to do it now. rory watches johann and gives a bit of a growl as he holds out the blanket, making it clear that she wasn't about to shift in front of a stranger, alpha or not. besides, she likely won't be able to if she wanted to anyway, she didn't feel safe enough to be so vulnerable. her human form was her weaker form and it wasn't something she shows unless completely sure she wasn't going to be attacked.

Xaviar snorted at Sasha’s antics, unsure of why she was being so pushy, but assuming it had to do with the fact that the female was new. Sasha had always been protective of the ginger and he of her - though in the past it hadn’t been nearly as obvious. Xaviar could remember the first few months in which he had met the petite blonde; Sasha had been as protective of him as she had any other pack mate. Clearly things had changed, but more wolves had joined and they’d grown closer as friends. Regardless, he wouldn’t try and push past the smaller wolf, she was already on edge as everyone else and the russet wer didn’t want to be the one to tip them over it. Keeping one dark eye on the black form regardless, Xav held pace with the rest of the pack as they bounded home.
xx
The smell of blood was still lingering as Xaviar slowed to a walk in front of the cabin - though far fainter now that they had moved farther from it. He couldn’t help but scrunch his nose at it, snuffling around his sweatpants as the others shifted or stopped on their own. Shifting back into human form was always a little more awkward than leaving it. Xaviar personally had no problem with nudity or the shifting process, but it took him a moment to get used to moving around on two feet instead of four and having his senses dulled. He supposed he could relate to Bruno in that sense. Speaking of the pack member, Xav wondered what he had gotten up to at that point. Had he made it to the hunt, had he returned home in their absence? The russet wolf paused and lifted his nose from his pants, looking around with sharp eyes. It didn’t smell like he had, so he could only hope that the brooding man was safe wherever he was. Xaviar’s thoughts wandered away from Bruno as he shifted, mind never really sitting still for long as he stretched taller - and yet smaller at the same time. He was glad his pants were large enough to simply stretch and slide off him during shifts. It would have been awkward if he’d have had to wait for someone to bring him some clothes. It was an unspoken agreement that walking around the cabin as a muddy-pawed wolf was frowned upon. (Not that it really stopped him when he was alone)
xx
The sound of the black female’s growl had the ginger’s attention on her once again, a frown pulling on his face as he tightened the drawstrings of his sweatpants. xx
“I can probably grab her something of mine or ask Sasha if she’s got any spare clothes. If it’s the blanket that’s the problem.” Xaviar glanced over at Johann, hands moving to his hips. He needed to grab a shirt anyway, he wouldn’t mind going inside.

𝐋𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐥 - no. 36

𝐋𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝
| Location - Cabin | tagged/interacting - Johann, Xav, Sasha, Rory |

Lyall had been only marginally aware of the world around him as Johann had confronted the loner, the red wolf was still in the haze of his episode, but he trusted his brother to keep everyone safe. He trailed behind the others on the way back to the cabin his thoughts becoming more clear.

By the time they arrived back he was able to string together a cohesive thought that wasn't based on pure instinct. Despite this general improvement in his mental state, Lyall still felt shaky and weak. Of course, this loner's first impression of him would be as a trembling mess to weak to protect the pack. He stopped shaking any mud out of his fur, he didn't want to be human again. But he knew it was better for him. After the incident, there were times where he would refuse to be human for days, even weeks, he remembered Lars saying "Just as much as you are a wolf you are a human, you can't refuse one half of yourself for the other." It was something that had stuck with the ginger for all these years.

Not wanting to shift in front of the others, he padded around to the back of the cabin. Using his snout he opened a small nondescript wooden box on the ground. It was filled with a random assortment of spare clothes, as shifting to had a tendency to destroy one's clothes it was a general practice to have stashes of clothes all over in case of an emergency or unexpected shift. Lyall had some in his office, Johann had some in his car, Mirabelle had some at her house, it was pretty much a necessity to prevent unnecessary nudity. He nosed around the box for a second before finding pants that would fit him. He carefully removed them placing them somewhere safe before moving back and preparing to shift back. He closed his eyes taking deep breathes trying to shift as slow as possible to keep himself from causing himself unnecessary pain like his shift into wolf form had.

Slowly but surely Lyall returned to his human form, his hands covered in mud and what was left of his own dried blood. The ginger steadied himself evening his breathing as much as he could as emotions rushed back. The majority of his episode might've been over but the aftershocks would haunt him for a while more. He grabbed the pants yanking them on and closing the clothes box. Lyall could feel the tears and hatred starting to bubble already, the longer he was outside the more chance he would run into one of the pack. He couldn't take the looks of pity and sympathy he had messed up, he shouldn't have gone on the hunt and yet he did, and what happened, he had let Crane get attacked, he had had a breakdown in the middle of the woods and had to be taken home, he put everyone in danger.

As he slipped into the cabin through the backdoor he the anger rose within his throat. He was a failure, a threat to the pack, all he did was hurt those he loved. Lyall tried to fight back against the bile but it was almost impossible especially with what he had done the past two days. He shook his head, at least he could get to his room before he fell apart again. Quietly as possible he made his way to his room.

Lyall closed the door to his room with trembling hands, as soon as he knew it was closed he pushed his desk chair against it so it wasn't easily opened. The ginger finally collapsed onto his bed shaking again, and in tears pulling the blankets around him as he curled up into a ball, the world crashing down around him again.

xxxxtechnically, bruno had left the cabin. the plan was to join in on the search party when he went out the door. instead his mind drifted to his stomach, particularly how empty it was. the thought of being around people made him want to scrunch his nose, so he'd ended up stopping by a restaurant to pick up food, accompanied by his beat up skateboard and earbuds. he'd contemplated if johann would snap at him for not joining in, but after all, no one had even woken him up for the event. his absence wouldn't be noted, and if it was, no one would care.

leaves crunched underfoot as he approached the driveway of the pack house for the second time that day, thankfully now on two legs. in one hand he held a pizza box, skateboard tucked under the other arm. something angry and sense-dulling blared in his ears. once inside he picked up the fresh scent of johann, brow furrowing in response. it was faint, meaning that the man had stopped by and left quickly. for what reason, bruno couldn't care less. all that mattered was that he was gone; and with him xav and sasha. the empty house made the man stop in his tracks for a heartbeat. xav had said they were staying, and bruno had given him permission to touch his blade collection if anything went wrong. he hurried into his bedroom and set down his items before ducking his head under the bed to check - nothing was out of place. it put his mind to rest. now for alone time.

he began slowly picking away at the pizza and staying huddled up in his room. he duly noted that xav would pout if he saw an empty box and hadn't been offered any. luckily bruno was satisfied after three pieces, and the rest of the box was shoved into the fridge with a sticky note that read,

        "FOR THE GINGER. DON'T TOUCH."

the majority of his lonesome time was spent playing his guitar. it'd been a while since he'd fiddled with it and it felt odd in his hands for a minute or two. before long it clicked and he was strumming as he used to, humming tunes slowly turning into soft singing when he was sure no one was coming home any time soon. he wasn't one for happy songs, so what left his lips was something slow and gloomy, a stark contrast to the light filtering in through the thin curtains and setting the room in a golden glow. when the instrument was placed back on it's stand, bruno cracked the window and curled back up in his bed. the twittering of the birds lulled him to sleep, allowing him to take a short nap in his warm cocoon. the boy was always tired and it did him good to get as much rest as he could. he'd made it an uneventful day as the others ran around town looking for a murderer. a bit selfish, but bruno needed to recharge before he could handle the heavy topics of the last few days.

the sleep was light and airy, drifting in and out of consciousness. he was snapped out of his silky dreaming by the muffled sound of a low growl. typically something so far away wouldn't be recognized even with his heightened senses. but the sounds of an animal, a canine in particular, was always crisp in his ears. an unwanted side effect of being in a pack; communication is needed, even at long distances. what was being communicated didn't sound happy or familiar. bruno jumped out off of the mattress and stuck his head out the window, glancing around for any four-legged forms. nothing caught his eye, so instead he warily left his room and started toward the front of the house. while passing the kitchen he absent-mindedly grabbed a knife from the rack on the wall. xav had mentioned that someone had been killed by a wolf, right? bruno wasn't going to be the next one. how ironic would that be?

he crept to the front door and peered through the peephole, hoping to see nothing. instead, he caught an eye full of red hair that was instantly recognized as xav. a shock of fear tingled down his spine - why was xav out there with a wild wolf? what the hell had he told him before he left? idiot. the shirtless man was standing with his hands on his hips, speaking to johann a few feet away. next to the alpha stood a shaggy black wolf, hackles raised. alarms went off in bruno's head seeing xaviar so close to an unidentified canine, instinct begging him to put himself between the ginger and the dog. heartbeat drumming in his ears, bruno paused for a moment and gently poked the back of his hand with the knife to ground himself. johann was there, nothing was going to happen. the prick brought him back to earth, and after a deep breath and a mutter of foul words, bruno opened the door.

amber eyes narrowed as he kept his sight on the large wolf. he tried to keep his cool by leaning his shoulder against the door frame, crossing his arms over his chest to hide the knife in hand. it was obviously uncomfortable and on high alert. bruno's jaw clenched. johann was always one to make questionable decisions, but this? did he have worms in his brain? bruno had made the connection that it was a werewolf as soon as he saw the others standing coolly around it. what if they were some killer loner? obviously they didn't want to shift to their human form. who knew how much control it had?

"xaviar." it slipped out without thought. instead of something friendly, the word held the tone of a mother warning her child for acting up at the store, an icy snarl of "get over here right now". his gaze flitted to the man, burning holes in the back of his head before turning to sasha and giving her the same look. the two were his favorites in this stupid pack, he wasn't letting them get bit by a rabid dog. after the message was clear, attention was brought to johann. he hadn't spoken to the man since the incident they'd had, but unfortunately this was a time the silence had to be broken. "who's that?" he waved a hand towards the wolf. he tried to keep as much attitude out of his voice as possible, an attempt to not cause a scene.

╔════════════════════☾☼☽════════════════════╗
Johann Vidar | tagged: Rory, Lyall, Sasha, Xav | location: pack territory
╚════════════════════☾☼☽════════════════════╝

As he waited for the loner to shift, Johann silently tracked his brother’s movement with his eyes as Lyall padded around towards the back of the house, knowing far better than to pursue him and invade his space while he was still coming down from an episode. The man was most likely exhausted, and Johann figured that time and distance were probably what he needed far more than anything else - he understood that Lyall hated the feeling of drawing attention or being needy, but he was his brother and all Johann wanted was for him to feel safe.

Despite wanting to do something, anything for Lyall, the loner’s growl drew Johann’s attention, and he turned to regard her intensely, trying to decipher what exactly it was that she was objecting to. At Xav’s comment he responded simply with a low hum, murmuring softly, “Thanks Xav, that’s a good idea. I just...I don’t think that’s it,” he finished as he tilted his head slightly, lost in thought. Before Johann could continue to contemplate why the black wolf was refusing to shift, he heard the front door swing open and Bruno’s clipped tone emerge from house, calling for the redhead.

Johann hadn’t seen Bruno since their confrontation the other day and he couldn’t help but feel badly for the other wolf - he was practically radiating tension, and was clearly uncomfortable with the loner, which Johann didn’t blame him for in the slightest. As much as he wanted to reassure Bruno that the new addition wasn’t a threat, he wasn’t sure how to; the two of them had never talked much in the past, and he was certain that the other wolf hated him for being a terrible substitute for Lars. And again, Johann couldn’t blame him. He didn’t know what he was doing when it came to anything really, and Bruno probably felt like the collateral in his bad choices - so instead of potentially saying something to make him feel worse, Johann instead answered his question as simply and honestly as he could, turning to face the other man as he spoke. “You know, I’m not sure. Sasha smelled her while we were out on a run - I left a note on the table about where we were but it was pretty easy to overlook, sorry - but she’s on her own, and with the hunters and other wolves I just...I couldn’t leave her. I’ll keep an eye on her so you guys don’t have to but...” here Johann trailed off, leaving the words unspoken. It’s what Dad would have done. “Anyway, I think she should stay with us for a bit.”

With this, he turned back to the loner, though not before shooting a quick smile at Xav and Sasha, silently letting them know that if they’d prefer to head inside, he’d try to handle this situation out here. As he regarded the defensive position of the black wolf, slowly squatting down to meet her eyes, he took a moment to fully look her over once more. The cuts that he had missed earlier were more obvious now - then it suddenly hit him like a ton of bricks, and he groaned softly, shaking his head. How could he have been so stupid? “We’re not going to run you off” he muttered the the wolf, tucking the blanket under his arm, and making it clear that he wasn’t about to force her to shift. It was clear that she hadn’t encountered many friendly packs before, so of course she wouldn’t show vulnerability.

Johann paused to consider his options before rising back up to his full height, figuring that there was nothing wrong with giving her, and the pack, some time to build some trust. “Okay, well, you don’t have to shift, but we have a pretty strict ‘no fur in the cabin’ rule, and it’s really not safe in the woods right now. We have an empty woodshed just on the back of the cabin that would probably work for the time being,” he finished, jerking his head in the direction of the shed as a silent invitation to head in that direction.

Jo was unaware of her increasingly firm grip on the woman’s arm, all her focus instead narrowing in on the expression of shock splashed across the stranger’s face. The prey was less than convinced, and the pack would be mad. Jo’s lower lip quivered slightly as her quiet pleas for the woman to join her dissolved into near-silent mutterings accompanied by watery eyes, brimming with panicked tears threatening to spill onto her cheeks at any second. She would have continued on like this and gotten lost in a world of her own once again had it not been for another hand covering her arm in the spot where Jerrold’s had been only moments before, pulling her back into reality with a surprised yelp.

Immediately, Jo’s attention snapped towards the blond woman who had a hold on her, something akin to a snarl rising from her throat; no matter how ill she was, Jo was still a wolf, and she wasn’t about to let someone take away her only chance to stay in pack’s good graces. Defensively, Jo locked eyes with the blonde, her grip on reality as unsteady as her trembling hand - her eyes were almost certainly tinted yellow, and she could feel her teeth instinctively beginning to sharpen inside her mouth, cutting into the tender flesh of her cheek as she regarded the interloper with a seething hunger. “She’s mine, my family - I - we, need her. They’re hungry and...they always find something to eat. Always. So...” here Jo trailed off slightly, her anger beginning to ebb as she regarded the emotions playing across the blondes face. “They’d like you, you know. All those feelings. Makes you taste sweet.”

Leo wasn't quite sure what had happened. One second Jo was next to him, and the other she was gone. Leo didn't know why these strange people were here, but he only knew it couldn't be good. Not people, but wolves. The woman had been swift to head away, but Leo had seen the scratches on her wrist. Those were the lines of a human nail, but something much pointier, much narrower. He now had no doubts about their strange appearances. Leo was no wolf and would never want to be associated with many, but he could feel that they shouldn't be in Cranberry; they didn't belong there. He'd watched enough documentaries to know that wolves or anything of the canine likes were very territorial. Johann and the rest would surely not want them intruding on their turf. Where there was one, there were more, he was certain of that. But that still did nothing to explain the woman's odd behavior. And it didn't explain either, why she was heading for his friends.

"Jo!" He called as she zipped past him, turning just in time to see her grab resolutely onto Tema, a slew of jumbled and nonsensical words coming out of her mouth. The woman was desperate and the fact that she was grabbing onto Tema and demanding she came with her was raising a large amount of concern in the large man. Desperate people were known to act without reason or go as far as to get violent. He barely noticed as the stranger ripped his arm out of his grasp, his mind absent as the wolf called out to the her, as well. As the man started moving towards the women, however, Leo snapped out of it. For a man of his bulk, he was surprisingly swift, rising up in front of the wolf like an angry cobra, almost nose to nose-except he had to bend down slightly. "You don't belong here. I don't know what she's saying, or what's wrong with her, but something's off here. You really think anyone would believe you were walking around in the woods all day without any equipment?" He muttered, swaying slightly to the side to stop the man from moving a step further.

Leo had been intent on keeping the two of them in the same place but froze as he heard Jo speak again, his spine tingling. Hungry, eat, sweet; they wanted to eat the girls? He blinked, not believing his ears. Surely no sane person would say such a thing? They were eating humans? Leo whirled around, his eyes fixed on the Jo. His focus switched from keeping the man in his place to getting Jo away from Elowyia and Tema. "Jo." He found himself repeating, crossing over to the women in a couple large steps. His main priority was to get the estranged woman away from them, and he was sure as hell going to carry it out. But Leo being Leo would never manhandle a women no matter how she acted, removing her hand from Tema's wrist gently, yet with an undeniable firmness, pivoting around to stand over her, his large body blocking any and all sight of the women. "I don't know what messed up life you're living, but you do not eat humans. Get that sick idea out of your head." Leo's harshly whispered words, however, weren't as gentle. He never liked wolves in the first, and the thought of them eating humans both shocked and appalled him. "You guys are cannibals? You're not far from human, as much as I'd hate to admit it." He kept his voice down, not wanting Elowyia and Tema to hear. He doubted they had a grip on what was going on right now. If Jo was a man, Leo would have definitely laid his hands on her in a more violent manner, but since she wasn't he lifted his eyes up to her companion, silently conveying a command for him to get both of them out of his sight.

||Jack U. Kaʻaukai||
○ Leader Of The Hunters ○ ♂ ○ 34 ○ Location: Hunters' House ○ Tags: Open ○

Jack really, really, needed to have a sit down with himself and question why he worked with a team of people. He remembers solo hunting, it wasn't the best for his mental health but dang was he way more efficient back then. During the chaos he knew that getting the civilians out was first priority. Hunting may be an adrenaline rush but innocent lives, innocent people, they always came first. Something stuck out to him in the way that the one wolf woman was doing the same, despite the screaming and panic of the wolf attack she didn't hesitate to start moving humans out. That was unexpected. Jack helped an older man rush through the woods until they were back in the clearing they started in. Pausing for a moment by his truck, the man had to fight every instinct and urge to run back into the woods, guns blazing, but he knew that that would blow whatever cover he had and only make things worse.

After making sure the man he helped was safe, Jack bit out a curse and started up his truck. He exchanged a bit of information with a panicked deputy before driving off. The hunters, they'd failed this time. Someone had been killed again. But, Jack had also learned some new things that he'd have to think about. Odd little moments that the known wolves had. His grip was tight on his steering wheel as he drove past to the hunters' house. He didn't get out of the vehicle right away. Instead, Jack stewed in his thoughts. Anger and frustration colored all of his thoughts and the memories of the events as he worked through them. When the emotion reached its peak he snarled and smacked his hands against the wheel. He needed time to come up with a new plan but time seemed to be the one thing they didn't have. The time between killings had gotten shorter and shorter.

Running a hand through his hair, Jack leaned back against his seat and sighed. Why did this little no where town have to be so complicated.

<<Dakota M. Calhoun>>
○ Pack Member ○ ♀ ○ 26 ○ Pan ○ Location: Cabin ○ Tags: Open ○

Dakota felt like she was choking. She couldn't breath, couldn't think. She couldn't go to the only person in the world she loved and cared for without any issue or old prickly memories attached because there where people she had to protect. A presence she seldom heard in her head was screaming and snarling to be let out but the young woman Dakota was pulling away along with the small group in front of her kept the presence locked away. She had a duty, she had to keep these people safe.

Knowing that didn't help. It made it worse. Her loyalties where pulling her apart in every direction. Her body now only functioned on autopilot and instinct. She ordered the other deputies in the clearing with a voice so strong and commanding that she didn't know how it could be hers. Everything happened faster than she could process and then it was over.

Over in that civilians where gone and those wolves where gone. Crane- Jacob's body was still in the woods. She tried to run in the direction his smell mixed with the thick sweet scent of blood was coming from but another deputy grabbed her before she could make it more than a few yards. Despite knowing she could rip out of the human's grip without issue Dakota crumpled there. Desperate, anguished cries tore through her and everything felt suddenly too suffocating yet incredibly distant at the same time. She threw up, once, maybe twice. It didn't help.

After some amount of time the sheriff had come back from Jacob's scene. Something clutched in his hand that he gave to her. She felt the cool metal in her hand and didn't even need to look at it to know what it was. Not long after they'd become friends, she'd gotten him the little wolf charm necklace as a joke mostly with herself. He'd worn it. She held the charm so tight that it dug into the skin on her palm.

Softly, the sheriff spoke to her, "Calhoun, Lindsay is going to drive you home okay? Take some time." A shuttered breath and weak nod was all Dakota could muster, too involved with the pendent in her hand. Her face was sticky with tears, sweat, and snot and she couldn't really breath anymore. She let herself be lead to the passenger side of her truck and didn't make a noise or move when it started up and the receptionist drove her home.

The drive home was deafeningly silent.

She didn't offer any words of goodbye or thank you when they got to the cabin. Her boots crunched over the gravel and the front door didn't slam behind her. It was nearly as silent as she was, save a small squeak as it swung shut. Dakota was a mess and the presence in her head was still so loud. She didn't care. Couldn't care. She didn't register anyone else in the houses presence, slowly trodding up the stairs. The door to her room creaked closed behind her, the soft sound of a lock clicking after.

Harlow had wanted to argue with the taller hunter about walking home in the state he was in with presumably a bunch of man-eating werewolves running around (and maybe some non-man-eating ones as well), but arguing drew attention, plus he was an outsider, not just to this town but to the hunters as well. So, in the end, he left Bright to walk home. The ride back to the house was quiet whenever the road didn't need his attention Harlow snuck quick looks at Farris, the girl was visibly shaken. Though he didn't know specifics he could make some rather general assumptions. Those were; someone was most likely dead, Farris had been there, and Bright fought a wolf. He wanted to say something to the brunette hunter but he didn't want to overstep his fragile boundaries.

Harlow pulled his bike into the house's driveway, switching the engine off, he was almost startled by Farris' hurried words. He opened his mouth to respond but by the time she had finished she was already heading into the house. He sighed his heart weighed down with sympathy watching someone die was always hard. He never understood how some of his ex-teammates from the hunters guild could shrug off causalities like it was nothing. Harlow may have had more of a stomach for that sort of thing than most but it still made him a little sick every time, human or not.

He turned back to his bike grabbing one of the rags he had stored in the sidecar he did his best to wipe up all the obvious blood spots from the vehicle. At the moment Harlow was just trying to make sure nothing looked too suspicious to anyone who happened to pass by while it was still light out. He would give the bike a complete wash tomorrow. Taking a step back he gave his handiwork a once over it didn't look like it could've been the final clue in a murder investigation anymore at least, and that was as good as it was going to get. Harlow balled the cloth in his hand tossing it back into the sidecar he would take care of it later. He would probably bleach it or something like he usually did.

Bite was immediately on him as he opened the front door, sniffing him for blood or injury, once she seemed confident that Harlow was fine she sat back with a whimper gesturing towards what Harlow assumed was the bathroom. The sounds of muffled crying and running water floated from the closed door. Harlow reached down and scratched Bite's head, "Yeah, I know. It got rough, I'll tell you once I figure out the details." The black wolf's concern mirrored his own, sometimes he was amazed at how similar the two of them were.

He decided instead of standing around waiting for the other hunters to show up he should make himself useful. Harlow went into the kitchen opening the cabinet below the sink, he may have not been familiar with this house but he had a pretty solid idea of how hunters operated and there was a seventy-five percent chance that under the sink there would be a medkit, one of many probably stored throughout the house. After a little digging past the window cleaner and what he assumed to be scent masking spray, Harlow pulled the red container free. He placed on the counter for the others to use once they got back. He was for the most uninjured he might be a bit bruised and sore tomorrow from his tumble down the hill, but nothing major that needed to be tended to.

Having that all set-out and not seeing very much else he could do. He grabbed his bag and flopped onto one of the couches in the living room. Harlow wasn't about to go explore the house looking for an empty bedroom, the couch was probably more comfortable than half the places he had decided to sleep before. He opened his bag grabbing his headphones, it was most likely best to pretend he didn't hear the other hunter's breakdown. As he plugged them into his phone, Bite padded over curling up on the floor next to his head.

"Sorry I couldn't bring you today, though it was for the best," The black she-wolf ears flicked in acknowledgment, "I promise we'll do something together later alright." At Harlow's promise, Bite lifted her head and gave him a look "You better"*. As Harlow put on his headphones he couldn't help but let a small smile creep on to his face at the snarky teenager of a canine, he reached down petting his companion. He honestly didn't know what he would do without her.

Relaxing his position bit he closed his eyes falling into the music as much as he could while keeping himself aware enough to greet the other hunters when they arrived back at the house.

*Bite is not actually speaking it's just the vibe she is communicating and I'm just playing around with how I'm going to write that :)

Jerold
(tagged- Jo, Elowyia, Tema, Leo,)

As the taller man stepped into his way Jerold growled, where did this human get off couldn't he see this was all his fault, Jerold had had Jo under control until the man had grabbed him. Listening to his words did snap some sense back into the Beta who had been about three seconds from just bulldozing past him, grabbing him packmate and dragging her back to Ma so she could learn her lesson.

"Look, she isn't right in the head if you would just-" He was passed trying to worm his way out of seeming weird he was just trying to get out of there without bloodshed. Because that would do nothing but spook the townsfolk more than anything that had already happened had and that would make hunting even harder.

The beta wolf was cut off by the man's attention shifting to Jo. Instinct yelled at him to attack the man as he pulled his packmate away from the women but he fought it down reasoning that if the human could do his job for him all the better. His anger towards Jo boiled fiercely as he listened to what the man whispered to her his wolfish hearing allowing him to do so. That little runt of a wolf might have given them away. He silently noted the fact that the human knew what they were or at least had an idea. As the man's eyes flicked over to him telegraphing the need for them to leave, Jerold stepped forward yanking the whisp-ish woman violently by her arm. Dragging her along back to the forest he hissed in her ear, "I told you to keep it to yourself, you know Ma's not going to be happy now. You better hope the others had better luck."

though the new female made it clear that she wasn't interested in xaviar or even around him or the others, sasha still kept herself between the two as the group headed back to the pack house. it was a short run and within a few minutes they were back home. she follows xaviar, but watches as johann heads to the car and changes into some pants while also offering the loner a blanket for her own change. sasha's ears flatten at the sound of rory's growl, but she swallows her own and instead huffs and pads around to the back porch where she shifts and goes inside to grab her clothes from the downstairs bathroom.

after getting dressed, she jogs upstairs for a shirt for xaviar, figuring johann has a shirt in his car he could wear but chose not to so she doesn't grab one for him like she first thought to. sasha heads to the front porch where she trots down the steps and back over to xaviar to whom she throws the shirt at before turning around to the sound of the front door opening. bruno appears and uses a rather irritated mothering tone with xaviar which makes sasha fight to hide a smile, especially when he turns his mother hen look upon her as well. sasha shrugs and goes to speak, but johann beats her to it and she simply nods in agreement.

she watches johann and the female for a moment before her stomach starts growling. shifting and running always drains her and leaves her starving. sasha lightly taps the back of her hand against xaviar's arm before motioning towards the house.
"come on, let's go make a snack for everyone, if i'm starving in know you guys are too." she doesn't really wait for him to agree or not, she just turns and heads up the front steps and into the house, more or less expecting him to follow like he often does. once inside she heads for the kitchen and starts pulling out all the ingredients for sandwiches, something filling yet light enough not to induce a food coma, that will come later for dinner.
