Leo smiled at Tema as she made the kind offer, thrilled to see that someone else liked giving out free food. That meant less money getting taken off of his paycheck. Leo often gave out freebies to friends, but it was also protocol to give a free replacement if someone dropped their drink or meal. Most cafes didn't do that, but Charlie's personally catered to the needs of its customers, which is what made Leo fall in love with the place. When he was younger, he had dropped a whole tray full of food that was meant for him, Bruno, and Max, and they had given him an extra of everything with no charge. Within days, Leo was standing at the counter with a large smile and a filled out application he somehow pulled out of the air. Even to this day, no one knows how he got it.

He turned his attention back to Elowyia as she began talking, smiling softly with amusement as she stumbled over her words, the woman being clearly on the shy side. He gave her a small nudge, which looked a little comical considering their gaping size difference. "Anything for a friend." He hummed, giving her his lopsided smile; his real one. And he meant what he said. He barely knew the girl, but she was sweet, and Leo felt himself caring for her more than he should. Usually if a customer got spilled on, he'd offer them some paper towels or send them to wash themselves off. After all, he was the cashier, not their mom. He followed Elowyia's pointing finger to the display, nodding as he saw the muffins. "Those are really good. Susan doesn't do much baking, but she always insists on making these ones." He stopped and put his hands on his hips, lifting one to point at the display before putting it back down. "Did you know Mirabelle bakes our chocolate chip cookies? I can bake them about as well as her, but there's just something about her cookies. You can taste the love, they taste just like home! Or the one you should have had, anyways." He started off talking passionately, but seemed to wilt a bit at the end. Nonetheless, he threw up a smile, moving around the counter at Tema's nod.

He opened up the display and grabbed a few, putting them in a bag. "Just pay for the first one, the rest are on me." He said, putting them down on the counter. Since Tema just put the money down, Leo took it and opened the cash register, not feeling bothered to announce her total; she could look a the receipt, if she wished. "Hold on, hun." He called to Elowyia. "I'll get those socks." He turned around and disappeared into the back, walking through the kitchen to knock on the office door. At a call from inside, he opened the door, peeking in to see Susan at the desk, reading through some papers. "Sorry, just getting socks." He said quietly, scuttling over to the closet to search for a pair. He turned over the socks before settling for the smallest pair. Most of them were specifically brought for Susan and Leo. Perhaps a part-timer had left this smaller pair. Leo waved bye to Susan and left quickly before she could question his choice of such a small pair, which surely were't for him. Leo couldn't even fit them on his hands, but his were just uncharacteristically big. He made his way back to the counter, briefly wondering when he would be able to get back to baking. "Catch." He said, tossing the socks to Elowyia. As he did so, he looked over her head, his eyes on the busy street. "Hey, the hunt's starting." He muttered, crossing his arms and leaning on the display as he watched the busy activity in the streets. Now that he thought about it, it'd certainly be more fun to be outside in the woods rather than the small kitchen. Leo always had trouble with cramped spaces d to his large size.

𝙴𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚢𝚒𝚊 - 38

Postby NoApologies » Sun May 31, 2020 3:28 pm

𝙴𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚢𝚒𝚊|𝙻𝚘𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗; 𝙲𝚊𝚏𝚎 |𝚃𝚊𝚐𝚐𝚎𝚍; 𝚃𝚎𝚖𝚊, 𝙻𝚎𝚘
Elowyia stumbled slightly as the much larger man bumped her gently with his hip, weight shifting - unfortunately so - back onto the foot she'd been hovering gingerly off the ground. There it was, the feeling of wet, warm wool, squishing against her foot. A shudder ran down the petite blonde's spine as she quickly righted herself, but she couldn't force the smile off her face, despite the grossness of the sensation she had just endured. She was thankful that it had hit mostly the side of the sock, and her sandals had prevented her from getting any on the bottom. Wet socks alone were atrocious, but add in the factor of the wetness being between your toes or - stars forbid - beneath them, and you had yourself right there a class three threat to anyone's sanity. Disgusting. Bumping back as best she could before Leo walked away, Elowyia watched with unbridled excitement as the food - free!! - was brought back to her. Oh, lucky day. Lucky day indeed!
xxxx
"Thank you so much, Leo, Tema." The petite blonde murmured, making grabby hands at the bag, sharp blue gaze narrowed in on her prize. She pinked further at the friendly pet name and offer to eat breakfast, and held the food close to her chest, dropping her keys in the chest pocket of her overalls to sit next to her phone so she could use both hands.
xxxx
"Of course, it's the least I can do." A bundle of cloth had Elowyia shifting her bag to just the one hand so she could catch the socks Leo had thrown, her lack of athletic ability made up for just enough by instinctive reflexes to allow the blonde to catch the socks. Terrific, she'd swap them on once she and Tema had a seat. Though, examining them further, the young woman realized they were going to be a little big on her. She blamed genetics for her insanely small feet. Not that she was complaining at all, she was thankful for the socks and the opportunity to escape the warm and wet. Blinking at Leo's comment, the blonde paused in her internal rant on wet and dry socks and glanced over at the door. The street outside was rather busy, really. Much busier than Elowyia had seen it. Just about as busy as it had been the last time watermelon went on sale at the local grocers. Really, it had been quite the deal, and those melons had been gone within a day.
xxx
"Hunt?" Elowyia looked back over at Leo, one delicate brow raised in question. Did this have something to do with the animal attack last night? She had seen a notification from the local police station on the networking app they all had in case of emergencies, but had thought it had something to do with perhaps construction or a road being closed off.

𝐋𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐥 - no. 32

Postby Wallflower11 » Sun May 31, 2020 3:55 pm

𝐋𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝
| Location - Hunt/Forest (Crane's group) | tagged/interacting - {Kota, Johann} (Crane's Group) Jack, Farris, Bright, [Crane] |

Lyall wasn't really paying attention until he heard Kota's voice above the noise of the crowd, his attention immediately turned to the Beta as she read off her group for the hunt; Johann, Candy, a woman that Johann and he had gone to high school with (he vaguely remember being 'forced' to go on a double date with Johann and Candy once), Harlow, a name he did not recognize which sent a few warning bells off in his head, though he was sure that two wolves against one hunter, especially his friends wouldn't be a problem, and Vincent, who he saw around town every so often.

He was weirdly relieved he wasn't in a group with his two closest friends, he couldn't quite pin down the exact reason. Most likely it was the fact that when he inevitably messed up or had to run away they wouldn't have to witness it. He forced himself not to look or make eye contact as his two packmates walked away. The threat of hunters was near and he didn't want to give any eyes watching them possible intel on the pack. Instead, he stood with his usual icy stoic expression staring over people's heads and into the distant trees.

Crane was the next to call his group. At Jack's name, Lyall's eyes swept the crowd quickly spotting the taller man. Emotions swirled he felt like somehow all of the misfortune that had happened and most likely disruption of the large man trying to find peace fell squarely on his shoulders. He quickly pushed the confusing emotions down as he heard Crane say his name. If he wasn't with Kota Crane was the second-best option. Lyall had always liked the man though not many words had been shared between the two, Lyall didn't mind when he joined in on their little group ventures. After Lyall's name, Crane read off three more, only one of which he recognized. That being Adrian, a local handyman probably ten years older than Lyall. Farris and Bright, the names were peculiar, to say the least, though Lyall was one to talk.

Lyall felt a set of eyes on him, it was quite a familiar feeling every time he traveled out of Cranberry as a six-foot-three ginger with a rather obvious scar on his face he was used to a little bit of staring, by the time he looked to see who had set off the feeling they had already looked away. He ignored the building sensation of unease and paranoia and found his way over to Crane giving the man a friendly nod paired with a ghost of a smile. Noting the two strangers, he did his best to ignore their presence and the panic it was starting to create within him. One of them was a short woman with her hair tucked in a baseball cap and the other one was a man about Lyall's height and was standing rather close for Lyall's wolf's liking. He looked over at the man beside him who gave him a smile that made every hair on his neck stand up. He balled his fists letting his nails dig into his palms, the pain centered him, he hoped the fear didn't show on his face. Gaining his composure he flashed back one of small 'professional' smiles that he saved for clients and the like, it was the easiest one for him to fake.

The instructions to spread out couldn't have been more welcome, as Lyall was about ready to combust. He breathed easier as the two strangers moved away falling behind him and the others. He found himself almost trailing Jack before he shook himself from the instinct and emotion that had clouded him when he had been standing with the others. In an effort to not look completely strange he approached Jack, "Apparently Cranberry cannot just escape misfortune," he greeted the other man with a grim smile. He turned to examine the underbrush for any signs of a wolf-like creature's movements. "I'm sorry that your settling down has gotten interrupted by something like this. Hopefully, we can find this beast," He spoke the word with particular venom, his hate for this creature was immense maybe even bigger than his hate for hunters, maybe. "and get back to normal." He finished, he would give everything to see Cranberry and the pack returned to safety.

          pack memberx21 y/oldxxxxlocation.xthe cabinxxxxtaggedxxaviar
xxxxxaviar collapsed onto the bed beside bruno, and he couldn't help but smile gently. who else would walk in like they owned the place? no one, because they'd be chastised and banned from bruno's room. yet this boy had a carelessness that the wolf could appreciate, something that wasn't annoying or big headed. just casual. bruno turned his head to face the ginger and quirked a curious brow.

"so, um, I know it's kinda rude to just spring this on you since you just got back and stuff, but johann and dakota are already busy so it's up to your fav gingy to be the bearer of bad news." his body shifted to mimic bruno's - for a moment he pondered why. people were weird and complex, and for some odd reason they mirrored people they had a fondness for. bruno carried himself with a bold air and tended not to do it. xav on the other hand wasn't surprising with his movements, he was a ball of affection that loved just about everyone. including johann and kota - meanwhile, bruno was glad he missed them. luckily he wouldn't have to be stressed this morning. scratch that, he was calm for a few short moments until xav continued on.

bruno's dark brows immediately furrowed in concern. he pushed down the blanket and sat up, the shock of what was said shaking him out of his previous self-consciousness. "who died?" the words came out in a bark. not a pack member, no. it couldn't be. xav would be a sniffling mess. a human? killed by wolves? "that's impossible," he pressed, "no one in the pack would kill someone. johann would. . . i don't know, exile them. and there aren't wild wolves around here." he rested his elbows on his knees and reached up to rub his temples, letting out a deep sigh. xav's awkward pat on the shoulder did little to console him. all he wanted was one normal day. the alpha died, the new alpha hated him, and now someone else was picked off like prey. he couldn't catch a break.

he wasn't sure why sasha wouldn't want to go. in fact, he didn't really know anything about sasha at all. bruno didn't necessarily want to but in there with no knowledge of what was going on. for a moment bruno felt a flare of anger. why hadn't anyone woken him up to tell him? this was serious and on a need to know basis, yet no one had the common courtesy to even warn him of what was to come. bruno turned to look at xav, amber eyes lit with a flare of rage. "should i even go? obviously i'm not important enough to be told about this, why should i be there."

𝕏𝕒𝕧𝕚𝕒𝕣 - 12

Xaviar sighed wearily at the looks of confusion, concern, frustration, and anger that burst across Bruno's face in rapid succession, finally settling on the final option. He felt bad for his pack mate. He wasn't around much, and of course now that he was, their very world was falling apart at the seams. Xaviar couldn't really blame the man, he himself disappeared anytime anything went wrong, and that was much easier to deal with than being in the midst of a cesspool of confusion and tragedy. This was not the red-head's area of expertise, he didn't have the opportunity to run off into the woods now. With his luck, he'd get shot....killed, even. Of course he'd promptly get dragged back from the grave so the big kids could scold him and send him right back when they were finished, but still. He wasn't quite in the mood for dying just yet.
xx
The ginger startled slightly as Bruno sat up and fell forward to prop his head in his hands, dark hair bouncing around him as he massaged his temples. Observant chestnut eyes darted to the scars that littered the other man's body and quickly away. As much as Xaviar was now itching to ask a million questions on the stories behind them - oh how he adored story time - he knew instinctively that it would end with him sitting on his bruised butt in the hall. Still, he had to yank back his hand from where it had been hovering in the air between its owner and the marbled skin of Bruno's bare back. No wonder he'd been covering up like some girl from a romantic comedy. Xaviar was almost disappointed that there'd been no dramatic cry upon his entrance. "I don't know who died, they didn't really specify. I just know that the hunt's going on and I don't really know how that's gonna work, but hey that's for the big kids in charge to deal with not me. Ion know man. It's just really odd that a supposed wolf - which, how would we not know about them, yeah - got at someone." The redhead muttered, hand coming up to scratch his head as he spouted out his thoughts.
xx
He paused, bristling slightly at Bruno's self deprecating words. "Uh uh, shut yer yap. I'm not hearing that from you, my good sir. No pity parties here thank you. It's way too early for that and you're already too emo." Xaviar huffed, hand moving from his head to Bruno's bare shoulder to pinch - not too hard of course. Again, he didn't want to die yet. "You're plenty important, but you were in the shower and stuff, and most of the rest of us just, you know, happened to be there. If Sasha hadn't woken me up I wouldn't have known about it at all, period and end of story. I know they might come off as dismissive or cold, and like they don't care at all, believe me I've been in your spot..." Xaviar trailed off for a moment, thinking of all the times he'd had to tuck tail and run from a confrontation with Johann gone wrong because he didn't know if he could win the fight, terrified that the man wouldn't want him to come back. Terrified that he hoped he'd get lost. Shaking his head briefly, the red-head continued. "We all have, really. They're just worried. Some unknown human-killing wolf is maybe in our territory. That's a threat to us, and the townspeople. As pack leader it's kinda Johann's job to deal with it, and Koda's a police lady."

『 Tema 』- no. 37

Postby Wallflower11 » Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:59 am

『 Tema Snow 』
| Location - Cafe | tagged/interacting - Leo, Elowyia |

Tema smiled at the mention of her landlady, it didn't surprise her that Mirabelle would do something like that. Though the mood spoiled a bit with the last words out of Leo's mouth. She didn't know Leo's story, she didn't know many people's stories, being newer to Cranberry and not a very social or nosy person most of the town's gossip and lore was completely lost on her. She still felt empathic to the big man none the less.

After giving Elowyia a bag filled with chocolate chip muffins Leo took Tema's money handing her a receipt. The dark-haired girl gave the man a large smile, she enjoyed how it felt like they were teaming up to cheer up Elowyia. She felt like she was a part of something and there was something so fulfilling about that feeling. Elowyia thanked the two of them. "You're welcome," Tema replied, finally taking a moment to have a sip of her tea.

She felt a bloom of excitement as Elowyia agreed to have breakfast with her. Tema was bursting with pride at her recent braveness in making friends. Just then a pair of socks went flying past her face, Elowyia caught them with some grace, way more than Tema would've managed had Leo thrown them at her.

At the mention of the hunt Tema's eyes darted outside of the cafe, with everything that had happened in the past ten to twenty minutes or so, the hunt had almost completely slipped her mind. She wondered if Farris was out there, it would make sense, she was researching wolves so if one had gone and killed someone she would be one of the people to help find it. "Yeah, the sheriff's office was gathering people to search for the killer animal this morning," Tema explained, "I was curious about possibly going but, I'm not really a hunting person and I would probably just get in the way." She gave a bit of a shrug, she was still interested in going and would probably join if she had someone to go with, but the young woman wasn't about to go marching into the woods alone or with a group of strangers at the moment.

Johann Vidar | tagged: Harlow| location: hunt
╚════════════════════☾☼☽════════════════════╝

As he helped the other man to his feet, Johann gave him a quick glance from head-to-toe, sizing him up on instinct. Even if most of the pack wasn't present at the hunt, the alpha still took any threat to his family seriously, and a far as he was concerned the stranger, Harlow, was just one more problem waiting to happen. Still, in the spirit of laying low and avoiding suspicion, Johann just smiled and nodded his head as he listened to Harlow's story about why he was in town, trying to appear casual.

Once the man was finished speaking, Johann shrugged at his question, the smile on his face momentarily leaning towards a more genuine expression, "Yeah, what gave it away? The flannel, or the boots, or just the general vibe?" he retorted with a vague up-and-down gesture. Pointedly not giving the stranger his name, the alpha jerked his head in the direction that he had been heading before being interrupted by Harlow, stating, "So we should keep searching...want to walk with me for a bit?" Johann's instincts told him to keep the stranger close and in eyeshot, and to keep him talking. The possibility of Johann giving him any real trust was slim to none, but getting to know more about Harlow, or catch him in a lie, was too good of an opportunity to waste.

Leo chuckled as Elowyia managed to catch the socks, wiping off the tongs. He couldn’t tell whether he had expected her to catch them or not, but he was glad she did. For Leo, missing a catch was very embarrassing. Elowyia didn’t look like someone who played sports or was very athletic, but one didn’t need to be so to have good hand-eye coordination. Leo had always been involved in sports. As a younger and much smaller kid, he played soccer frequently and sometimes baseball, as well. Once he hit high school, he started hitting the gym each day, having watched too many videos of bodybuilders. He soon became too big to play soccer without causing some injury, as he was taller and bulkier than most of his opponents, and found his place on the football team. He played throughout college and even made it past championships with his team, but football wasn’t as much his passion as it was for others. It was also around the time his grandmother started fading away.

Leo smiled at the pink girl, his eyes twinkling. “Turn any pinker, and you’ll look like…” He paused. “What things are pink?” He began counting on his fingers. “Flamingo, ham, pig, naked mole-rat, lobster, flowers, cotton candy, strawberry smoothie, and cupcakes.” He looked up at her suddenly, a pleased smile in his face. “You’re a strawberry cupcake!” He said rather childishly before looking around and bowing his head. A man of his age shouldn’t be acting like this. His grandmother had loosened her control on Leo’s life after converting back to Buddhism and becoming “enlightened”, so many things went unchecked with Leo. This is perhaps why he was known as the prankster in town and walked around with hidden drawing and tattoos of the upside-down crosses, merely because he found them aesthetically pleasing. A moment later, he looked back up. “With yellow star sprinkles, I think.” He murmured.

As the girls sat down, he decided to head back to the kitchen to continue his work, as no more customers were in line, but at the question from Elowyia, he put down his tower and came out from behind the counter, his eyes on the window. The streets were indeed bustling. By their table, he opened his mouth to speak, but Tema answered for him. He leaned partially against the dark-haired girl’s chair, thick hand gripping the bar on the back. “Yes, what Tema said.” Giving her a look of mock annoyance and reaching out as if to flick her on the forehead, but pulled away at the last second. Leo was a free natured guy, but bot oh boy did he hate when people answered for him or cut him off. This sentiment mostly came from people trying to do his job. Leo was surprisingly possessive of many things, and his status and dignity being big ones. But since he took a liking to the kind girl, he let it slide. “What Tema said.” He repeated, now focused on the hunt. “All the visitors are going on the hunt, surprisingly. Especially the ones you were talking to at the funeral.” He said to Elowyia. He wanted to ask why she was getting yelled at, but after seeing the younger women rush out nearly in tears, Leo decided it would be better not to. Leo knew not t pry in other’s business. As a cafe worker, most people came and talked about their business loud enough for him to hear. It wasn’t a lie to make the claim that Leo knew more about what went on in people’s lives than anyone else in town. “I would go if someone asked me, but it likes like they already organized the groups.” Strangely, he had come to the cafe that morning with no intention of going on the hunt, but the more he thought and talked about it, the more he wanted to go outside and join them. “Maybe you’d make a good lookout. Not everyone is expected to go jump some wolf thing.” He said to Tema, making a distasteful face as he mentioned said canines. Leo hated all things canine and certainly was not fond of the shifters by any means.

𝙴𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚢𝚒𝚊 - 39

Postby NoApologies » Wed Jun 03, 2020 1:24 pm

𝙴𝚕𝚘𝚠𝚢𝚒𝚊|𝙻𝚘𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗; 𝙲𝚊𝚏𝚎 |𝚃𝚊𝚐𝚐𝚎𝚍; 𝚃𝚎𝚖𝚊, 𝙻𝚎𝚘
Elowyia rolled her eyes with a snort of laughter at Leo's vocalized train of thought. He was such an odd character at times, but it was a refreshing experience compared to the normalcy of the majority of the townsfolk. She raised an eyebrow as Leo added his comment on the yellow sprinkles, already halfway turned to find a table. 'Why yellow sprinkles?" The blonde murmured, glancing back down as she began fumbling with the socks to get them separated from one another. The quicker she got them off and replaced them with the fresh ones in her hand the better for her sanity. It really was a repulsive experience. As Leo moved back behind the counter briefly, Elowyia picked a table near the windows and placed her bag of muffins and the socks on the smooth surface, patting the tabletop gently as an invitation for Tema to sit across from her. Turning her head to watch the people walk past as she set to work switching her socks, the blonde hummed lightly as the small crowd move past the cafe. Sharp blues tracked the faces and made note of who was present - if she didn't know their name off the top of her head she did her best to remember facial characteristics. No doubt the old women that came in after the weekend would be gossiping about it, and they always appreciated when Elowyia added her own input.
xxxx
"If you're both interested in going, I'll gladly tag along...I don't have work and I can't say I feel one hundred percent safe being alone at home right now." The petite blonde murmured, removing the case of muffins from the plastic bag to dump in the swapped socks as an exchange. She wiggled her toes, enjoying the feel of dry cotton, but more than aware that her grandpa sandals would not make great hiking shoes. Stars knew why she'd just ignored the perfectly good boots she wore on a near daily basis, worn and comfortable and sturdy. Not to mention they weren't even ugly. "We'd just have to stop my house so I can swap my sandals for my boots, and double check my cat's water. Shouldn't take more than a minute."
xxxx
The blonde couldn't help but screw up at her face at Leo's implication that Farris and "Lurch" were going to be at the hunt, unsure of how to feel about it. Her heartbeat was picking up just thinking about it, and Elowyia neatly plucked out a muffin to begin tearing apart to distract herself, and get food into her system. On one hand, she'd had two okay interactions with the dark haired man - one that had involved food and banter - and one with Farris, and on the other the interactions that hadn't been okay had left the blonde dealing with a near panic attack and a total breakdown in front of them both. The muffin squelched sadly as it was squished in the woman's small grip before she popped into her mouth hurriedly. It wasn't like she'd see them and have to talk to them. There were plenty of people around, enough that even if she was split from Leo and Tema she doubted she'd end up with either of them.

"Oh? Interesting." Was all Elowyia chose to say on that matter, brushing the crumbs from the muffin off her hands and into the bag.

xxxxbruno listened as xav spilled his thoughts. instead of fueling the fire the man was calming him down, reassuring him. agreeing that everything was odd and confusing and one hell of a train wreck. "hh uh, shut yer yap. I'm not hearing that from you, my good sir. no pity parties here thank you. It's way too early for that and you're already too emo." followed by a light pinch on bruno's bare skin. the wolf scrunched his nose and raised a hand to rub his shoulder like the drama queen he was. he wasn't emo. what a little punk.

"I know they might come off as dismissive or cold, and like they don't care at all, believe me I've been in your spot..." bruno's amber eyes slitted at the comment. they didn't care at all. if they did, they'd let him know what was going on within his own community. instead, they ran off to be heroes, only thinking of themselves. and xav was right, johann was the pack leader. kota was part of the police department. but that didn't excuse silence when things should be shared. it didn't excuse how they treat him on any given day. it could all just be in his head - he could be overreacting and letting things get to him. but bruno always seemed to see the negative side, and that's how it'd be for now.

he let his shoulders relax, let out a little sigh. it wasn't worth being worked up over right now. someone was dead, that was the main concern of the day. "you and sasha will be alright?" bruno didn't want to abandon xaviar if there was any chance of danger. "stay inside, lock the doors." bruno wasn't the reassuring type. "i have some knives under my bed, if anything happens just grab one. don't go through my stuff. i'll know." a true sign of trust. bruno didn't let anyone in his room. leo had been here once, when bruno was just grabbing some clothes for a trip to the lake. anyone else was barked at to stay in the doorway, or aggressively chewed out for being in his space while he was gone.

bruno bit his cheeks and sat there for a moment in silence. if everyone was out hunting, did that include the humans? knowing leo, he'd probably want to do his community the kindness of assisting. and he'd be damned if he was going to let leo venture into the forest alone, where someone had just been mauled by a wild animal. bruno reached out and gave xav's shoulder an awkward little pat, something unpracticed and foreign to him. "just be save, please. call me if you get freaked out, i'll bring you snacks or something."
