Dakota was busy laughing at Crane getting chewed out over the radio when she got Lyall's next round of texts. She glanced at her phone before clapping him on the shoulder, "Looks like you can't come to lunch after all- have fun refiling those reports." Lindsay had not been happy when she contacted them so now Jacob Crane had to skip his and Dakota's usual lunch and go back to the station instead.
"What? You're not going with me!?"
"No way dude, as much as I love watching Linds' tear you a new one I have lunch plans." She was grinning, happy that she would see one of her best friends soon, especially with everything that had happened lately. Crane was grumbling and complaining all the way to the station but Dakota didn't do much more than laugh at him. When they finally parked Dakota shoved his shoulder slightly, "Hey I'll catch you after lunch okay? Maybe when we get off we can go do something."
A smile pulled at Crane's mouth even if he didn't want it to, "Movie marathon?"
That turned Dakota's grin into a full blown smile, "Sounds like a plan!" She threw an arm around him in a quick hug before getting out, "Now! Go fix your paperwork, I've gotta get to lunch." Crane yelled a goodbye at her as she hopped into her truck and pulled out of the parking lot. The drive was short, it was kept from getting quiet by the blare of her music that she half sung along to. Dakota's fingers tapped excitedly on her steering wheel, today was a good day for her. She was back at work, got to hangout with Crane, and would get to hangout with her friends again.
The old truck ambled to a stop a short ways off of the other vehicles at the farm. Dakota made an excited little noise and jumped out, locking the truck as she took off sprinting towards the pack. The first of her two favorite idiots that she caught sight of was Johann but he was already on the other side of the fence, and therefor temporarily safe from her affection. She was happy to see Annie and Maka too, but they weren't the ones she was after. At catching sight of Lyall getting out of the car, alive and healthy, a weight was suddenly off of her shoulders she hadn't even been aware of, "Lyall!" She pivoted sharply and ran at him, only slowing enough at the end so that she didn't knock him completely off of his feet as she jumped and threw her arms around him. "I missed you! It's never the same when you're gone." Lyall Raynard was absolutely one of her most favorite people in the world and Dakota wasn't afraid to show it.
