    GRISHA + THEIR POWERS
in this roleplay, there are four different types of grisha: the HEALER, the HEARTRENDER, the MATERIALKI, and the TIDEMAKER.
each type of grisha has a different type of power and ability. some more dangerous than others. to learn more about grisha in general, see the link at the bottom of this page. for the purposes of this roleplay, here are the powers + abilities of these grisha*:

THE HEALER can heal others. they can mend bones, heal wounds, etc. healing requires energy, and if they use too much they will burn out and need rest.

THE HEARTRENDER is one of the most dangerous types of grisha. they manipulate organ/body function. they can stop breathing, stop hearts, slow someone's healing and change the chemical balance to affect emotions. they must be able to see their target.

THE MATERIALKI can manipulate anything solid on a molecular level (glass, steel, wood, etc.). they can make flowers bloom, move objects etc. this specific type of materialki is called the durast.

THE TIDEMAKER controls and influences water. since ketterdam is a harbour city, this provides a constant source of water to draw from.

*please note i do not own grisha/grishaverse/six of crows, all rights go to leigh bardugo. this is a slightly fandom based roleplay based on her novel "six of crows"

KETTERDAM is a bustling harbour city rife with gangs, crime and tourism. it is separated into multiple sections, but the ones used in this roleplay will be fifth harbour and the barrel*.

FIFTH HARBOUR is a docking place for all the ships coming in and out of ketterdam.

THE BARREL is the entertainment district of ketterdam, separated into the east stave and west stave sections.

THE GROUP'S RESIDENCE is located out the far outskirts of the East Stave. it is a run down but secure row house. it has three floors. the first floor contains the kitchen and living area, the second floor contains the first four bedrooms and a bathroom, and the third floor contains the other four bedrooms and another washroom. each room has a single bed, a window, and a dresser, as well as any additional furniture/items you desire for your character. keep in mind these are SMALL ROOMS so they can't fit a huge bed or a bunch of bookshelves, etc.

    𝚝𝚊𝚕 𝚎𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚋𝚛𝚒𝚍𝚐𝚎
    ( name. tal eversbridge ) ( role. the spy ) ( location. the slant ) ( tags. everyone )
Tal had begun her day as usual: waking up, getting dressed, and slipping out of the house before the sun came up. Clad in her usual garments with two of her trusted blades strapped to her thighs, she quickly scaled the side of a nearby building and crept, silent and cat-like, along the rooftop. She flipped the hood of her dark cloak over her head, casting her face into shadow. She had her blonde hair pulled back in a tight braid and ensured it was tucked away into the hood. She silently leapt from rooftop to rooftop, landing soundlessly on her leather slipper-clad feet. Her goal for the day was to gather intel on the next big shipment coming in from Ravka. There was supposedly a large supply of furs aboard the ship, and Laia had wanted to "borrow" some from the ship's stock before it all got sold in the market. For the rest of the day, Tal slipped in and out of buildings, eavesdropping on meetings, conversations, anything she could to get a sense of what she needed to know. She spent most of her time down at Fifth Harbour, and only had to take out her knife five times, which was much fewer than usual.

The sky was steadily growing darker as the spy leapt onto the roof of The Slant and shimmied down the drain pipe till she landed on the ground below. There were a few lights on inside, so Tal assumed most of her companions were already home. She pulled her key out from around her neck and twisted it into the lock. Inside, she made sure to lock the door behind her. It was a habit she had developed while living at the orphanage, and it was definitely something a habit it didn't hurt to have. The smell of stew wafted towards her, and when she felt her stomach growl, Tal realized she hadn't eaten at all today. She headed down the hall and into the kitchen and dining area, where she found most of the group scattered throughout the space. At the stove was Bram, ladling warm stew into several bowls. Tal eagerly snuck up behind the heartrender, snatching an already full bowl from the counter. At his protest she threw a glance over her shoulder and winked, bringing the bowl to the dining table. She quickly dug in, shovely hot spoonfuls of stew into her mouth.

    𝚋𝚛𝚊𝚖 𝚟𝚒𝚜𝚜𝚎𝚛
    ( name. bram visser ) ( role. the heartrender ) ( location. the slant ) ( tags. everyone )
By the time Bram had woken that morning, the sun was already out and he could hear people moving around in the house. He groaned and stretched, evidently not a morning person. He slowly dragged himself out of bed and got dressed, before heading down the two floors to the kitchen. There, he found a few of the other's still home, not surprised to find that Tal was already gone. Bram found left over rice and chicken in the fridge from last night's dinner and quickly heated it up in the oven. Not a traditional breakfast, but you didn't find those here that much anymore. While he ate, Bram pulled out a pencil and paper so he could jot down some things he planned on purchasing today. It was his turn to cook dinner, so he needed to find some things for that. He also needed to buy a new holster for his shotgun, as his current one had torn when it got caught on a door handle.

After finishing his breakfast, the heartrender grabbed his leather satchel and headed out the door. As he neared the heart of Ketterdam, the streets began to grow busier and more people could be seen milling about. He first went to the store of his favourite leather-worker, and placed an order for a new holster. The craftsman informed him it would be ready by the end of the day, so Bram decided to stop by on his way back to The Slant. He spent some time walking down by the harbour, catching the faintest glimpse of Tal slipping through the crowd. As the sun moved across the sky, Bram made his way to purchase ingredients for tonight's dinner. He had decided on beef stew, and picked up a cut of beef from a butcher in town. He gathered a few other ingredients and stopped to pick up his new gun holster on his way home. Once he arrived back at The Slant, Bram set to work at the stove, quickly turning some random ingredients into a delicious, warm stew. He let out a protest as Tal, who had come out of nowhere, slipped around him to steal a bowl of the stew. He huffed and shook his head at her wink, though a smile played on his face.

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐫
[[tagging all peeps || feeling an adrenaline rush || sharpshooter]]

Coll felt the gravel against his face as he rolled on the ground and jumped to his feet. He felt a new hole in his jeans and groaned as he also saw blood soaking through a small patch just above his knee. "Come on man, I'll get you your money I promise. I'll have it to you tomorrow just let me go home" Collin whined as he faced the owner of the pub who had just thrown him out for having too many drinks and too little money. "How about you don't come back, Briar" The grumpy man had his arms crossed in front and people had migrated onto the deck that had been enjoying a good time inside just moments before. Collin straightened himself out and dusted the little bit of dirt off that he could, most of it was mud from a wet and rainy day and he saluted the barkeep with a sly grin and a very sore left cheek bone. "See ya chief, catch you on the flipside" He turned to walk away and slip down an alley and heard the barkeep yell back just as he got out of distance, "I mean it collin! I'll hurt you next time"

Collin took off at a fast paced walk with a smile still on his face. It wasn't his fault. He had no intentions of staying long or even ordering drinks but he'd seen a girl in the window and just had to go in and order a few drinks for her. It was obvious he'd overstayed his welcome but good old George would do nothing if he showed up tomorrow night for some under the table gambling. How else was he supposed to pay him off? with a pep in his step and his hair stuck to his face from the moisture that fell from the sky, he trekked his way through alleys and backyards to get back to the slant where he and his gang lived. When the slant grew into view and soon stood shakily in front of him, he turned the knob of the front door only to find that it was locked. Coll sat banging at the door very loudly, "Guuuuys, is anybody hooooome???? dangit... i must have dropped my keys somewhere near the pub" he groaned. His fist never ceased its banging on the door.

𝐄𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐟
[[tagging all peeps || feeling peaceful || tidemaker]]

Elanor had been at the dock for several hours just swinging her feet and watching the waves. Her hair and her body, though it rained, were completely dry. A thin dome of water sat several feet above her head and collected all the drops that fell from the gloomy sky, none of them touched her. The time she spent at the dock had calmed her body and let her blood run smoothly to her heart and from it, whereas before it had beat far too fast and far to heavily for her liking. El had spent her time building walls of water, crashing waves against rocks, and just admiring the vast expanse of sea. It made her feel at peace. It was odd, her power was the one thing that made her reckless and at times want to change everything she was, but it was also the thing that brought her back down to earth. Certain that her mind was clear and her mood lifted, she stood up and took the short trip back to the the slant. There was a usually uncharacteristic pep in her step but made sense after a long day at sea.

It was of no surprise to her to see Collin Briar outside the house and pounding on the door in the rain, her head shook in disdain as she called out to him "That's what keys are for you imbecile!" and pulled out her own pair from her back pocket and put it into the keyhole. She only slightly hesitated when she saw the hole in his jeans and the blood that had stained them, his cheek also appeared to be a little scraped up. "another fight?" she asked? "Another fight" he confirmed as she opened the door. "Look what the cat dragged in" she said sarcastically and made her way to the common area with the very wet and dirty male walking too closely to her clean and dry self, "I ought to give you a bath" she joked sarcastically.

      RAPHAEL ELSEN
role the healer | location the slant | tagged everyone

There were few things that Raphael enjoyed more than occasionally taking a day off from running around the city, be it stealing, watching his friends' backs, or trading some counterfeit items. This allowed for such luxury as sleeping in, though for him waking up late meant perhaps a couple of hours past sunrise at most. Having dressed up, tidied up his room, and swiftly climbed downstairs, he grabbed a quick breakfast snack before heading back to set up his art supplies. Just the day before he had managed to get his hands on a set of brushes and a nice palette in Ketterdam he wished to test out, for which the most suitable time was midday, in natural daylight, once most or all of his gang had left the house for their own errands.

Much later, after eating his breakfast and lunch in one go, Raphael took up the task of cleaning up the house — dusting some surfaces, putting in the lost item basket the wandering objects that didn't belong anywhere in particular, and some general washing up. From then on the remainder of his afternoon and evening was spent scanning through a book he had looted from an antiquities dealer to see whether it was worth whatever the seller had claimed it was when he stopped by as an unsuspecting potential customer, and sketching in his notebook. Raphael likely would have continued indefinitely, if not for his eyes hurting a bit from staring too intensely at paper or canvas throughout the day, as well as his housemates returning one after another. Hearing some noise downstairs, he leisurely walked there, gently rubbing his weary eyes. From the delicious smell in the air, along with the sight of Bram and Tal in the living room, he concluded that dinner had been made. "Hey, I just cleaned there," he stated nonchalantly upon encountering Collin and Elanor, the former appearing as though he had been literally dragged through mud. Which he likely was. The healer quickly scanned the other guy for signs of serious physical damage. "Well, that's not ideal," he shrugged before walking off again in the general direction of the dining table, which required more immediate attention.

𝙴𝚛𝚍𝚎𝚗 𝚈𝚞𝚕-𝙾𝚔𝚝𝚊𝚒
he/him // the materialki // the market >> the slant // mentions: // tags: everyone

As usual, Erden was one of the first to awake, jolting up in his bed before the sun had finished cresting the horizon, casting its gloomy grey light over Ketterdam. It bothered Erden that he still got night terrors after all this time - he felt like he should be stronger than that by now. He tried to shake off the nightmare, getting up and starting his day, ignoring his shaking hands and unsteady breathing. He washed, grabbed a quick bite from the kitchen, and set off towards the market to set up his stall. He used to have a workshop set up in the market place - the public loved a show, and watching Erden work on his creations was certainly a spectacle to behold. It was a shame that he had start working from home - there was only so many miracles he could pass off as a trick of the light before people started getting suspicious. Nonetheless, he'd completed some commissions - some dashing leather boots, a set of sparkling glass goblets - and made a few original pieces to sell, so he could spend the day working his stall in the Ketterdam market place. He always loved the atmosphere of the market - people bustling this way and that, the constant chatter and the shouts of over-zealous vendors. People spoke of Ketterdam as a home to the soulless, where monsters prowled the street and greed ruled over all, but Erden didn't see it. The streets were so full of life and personality - he'd happily spend the rest of his life here.

The rest of his day went by uneventfully. He sold some pieces, had lunch with at the waffle vendor who'd set up shop next to him, and aside from a few side long looks from some unsavoury types in the distance, the day went as smoothly as Erden could've hoped. He couldn't help but smile to himself as he packed up his wares and made his way back to The Slant. It was about time he had a good day - lord knows he was due one. He slipped through streets and back alleys - taking a different route every day, just in case - and soon found himself standing outside the dilapidated building he called home. He fumbled with his bags for a moment, trying to navigate his full hands while searching for the pocket he put his key in, before giving up and placing a palm over the lock, focusing on the tumblers and willing them shift into place. A moment later, the door was swinging open, and Erden made his way inside, dropping his bags unceremoniously in the hall. He could hear chatter, and more importantly, smelling one of Bram's stews from the kitchen. He sighed contentedly. It was good to have a home.
"Hey, I'm home," Erden announced to the house, moving to the kitchen and seeing almost everyone was already home. He moved past the others, grabbing a bowl of stew for himself. He looked at the others, and quickly spotted Collin's look of disarray. He couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "Who did you piss off? Again?"
