JUDE FOSTER
location: barn | role: scavenger | tags: William (Reed, Olivia, Hunter)
Jude nodded at Olivia as she went to help Reed get on his horse. All of a sudden William busted out a small knife he had kept away in his pockets. Jude’s eyes practically bulged out of her head at the small boy swinging around the knife. Why in the world would Charlie give him a knife? She was about to tell him to be careful with it but Charlie and Olivia beat her to the punch. She could only hope he didn’t cut off his fingers on accident while trying to use it. “Hey, William? Maybe refrain from swinging it around like that,” she said while cringing internally and externally. This kid would get himself killed one day. She only hoped he would outlive her. William was so small, and so innocent to things that were going on. He probably didn’t even remember his parents. Frowning, she promised herself she would protect him, before she squeezed both her legs to make the horse go faster so she could catch up with the group.
She barely remembered her mother. She only had memories that all seemed to be cut up into snippets. What she did know, was that her mom was there one minute, and gone the next. Leaving her and her sister alone with her dad. And honestly, Jude wouldn’t have it either way. Even if she did miss having a mom once in a while. Her dad was, still is, an amazing person. Jude refused to believe he was dead. He was too smart for that. He taught her everything she knows now. He must be alive with her sister somewhere, he has to be.
Catching up with the group, she saw Reed had finally gotten on a horse. As much as he was a pain in the butt, she still wanted him to be okay. She wanted all of them to be okay, deep down, she did. She hated not opening up to everyone, they only got a shell of who she was. She just couldn't. She couldn't let them in, to see her sister, her father, her memories, who she really was. She couldn’t let them know all the ugliness inside. Even if she wanted to know all of them, she’d rather keep her distance. That way it wouldn’t hurt so bad if something happened. She looked away from everyone as Olivia asked a question to Hunter. Her eyes seemed to glaze over as a frown appeared on her face. Her thoughts seemed to scream only one thing at her. Keep your distance, Jude. Keep your distance. Keep your distance.
(this is so gross ugh)
