Charlie looked back at Josh with the same admiration. “Oh I know! I’m so excited about this year! But also a little sad. It’s my last year after all,” she sighed a bit somberly. She cracked open her can of seltzer and took a sip from it, feeling the bubbles coat her tongue. She finished and put it down, looking back at Josh. “Anyways! What are you planning for our ‘date’ this evening?” She asked, raising her eyebrows. She was really excited about tonight. Perhaps they’d see a movie or go to some nice restaurant. Secretly, her perfect idea of a date was going to a fancy dinner and then being taken out to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. But... seeing as they were high school kids with almost no money, that sounded a bit unrealistic. So she’d have to settle for nice, cheap, diner food instead!

Joseph observed the two of them talking. Then he watched Daniel offer Seraphina his granola bar. Joseph raised an eyebrow. He realized that he and Daniel were ways different, but also very similar. They had similar interests and hobbies, but Daniel seemed a bit friendlier. Sure, he was still about as awkward as he was, but he seemed to be a bit more open and outgoing. Well, more than Joseph at least. But that wasn’t saying much. He just watched their conversation, narrowing his eyes snd trying to figure out how Daniel could be so similar to him, yet so different. Joseph hardly even looked up half the time to notice if someone was only eating a granola bar. That made him feel kind of bad, but he knew that Daniel actually cared about having friends. Joseph admired him for that. Daniel was like the nice, friendly side that Joseph never had.
