Being poked and prodded had become normal to us. Being
locked into our rooms at night, and even strapped to our b
eds on the days it stormed. Many would resent the white w
alls and bland meals, but we grew to call it home. Our roo
ms were painted our favorite colors, and we got to read st
ories of magical places, with things like cars and dogs. We
got our own “mothers”, who was the scientists assigned to
our rooms, who would feed us, ask us about our days, and
tuck us in at night. We had everything a kid could ask for.

HUMANITY ! ────────────────────


One night, during a particularly bad storm, our mothers tu
cked us in, and strapped us to the bed, and we started dri
fting off to sleep to the sounds of thunder, and quick foots
teps outside of our rooms. We woke on our own that morni
ng, instead of the usual wakeup call. We eventually freed
ourselves and others, wandering the labs unable to find ou
r mothers or any of the other scientists.

Our confusion turned to panic, which turned to pure fear w
hen we found the door leading to the outside. We walked t
hrough, and all we could see was the blood red sky looming
over head.

Our fear hasn't subdued, even now that its months after. We
formed our own little society, and now are just trying to su
rvive in a world outside of the white walls we know

sometimes, if a child is born with any abnormal abilities,
they are taken away at birth, and sent to a lab in the mi
ddle of Kansas, twenty miles from the closest town. thes
e kids haven't known anything other than the lab, and ne
ver really wanted to since the scientists made sure they'r
e comfortable, in order to see how a normal child will gr
ow into these powers. These poor kids learned nothing a
bout living outside of their rooms and the other white ro
oms around them.
