Theo nodded at the small list of items which her gaze flitted to as they were being listed off. She smiled shuffling through her notes once more preparing to actually begin questioning. She chuckled at Pris' remark and felt a bit of relief at the woman seemingly coming back to herself, "If you feel your ready to begin then we can get started". Theo slipped back into a more professional headspace letting the traces of emotion drain from her face. She unconsciously reached out with her ability to get a feel for the other werewolf's emotions but the lack of anything she could pick up on was a sharp reminder of what she'd lost. "Where were you at (insert time of death here) on (date of death here), and are there any witnesses who can comment on where you were".

(I have such bad writers block but here's this)

"i was here."
it'd been a week, but it felt like the hole in her heart had been growing and rotting for centuries. the enamel mug creaked under her tightening grip.
"i was here. there's cctv cameras on the outside of the property and in the hallways. and i have friends -" she raised her eyes for just a second, barely long enough to look the werewolf across from her in the eye - "that can confirm that. this was all on the statement i gave to the sheriff." she couldn't help but grumble under her breath, despite the blinding pain now in her head that always followed the premonitions. if you could even call them premonitions. a flash of colour and light, growls and blood. nothing of value, nothing that would help her prevent it coming to pass and certainly nothing new to her wolves. maybe the paperwork being handled by her cousin was against code, or something. maybe this loner had just jumped at the chance to talk to the new pack leader.
well, she had that chance, now, anyway.
it didn't look as if the new officer had any recording equipment on them. nothing that would alert anybody else to the words she was about to let out into the room.
the widow put the mug back down on the table, gently, and leaned her head slightly towards the other female. eyes already beginning to narrow.
"how about, madam deputy, i ask you a few questions of my own?"
if she'd been in feral form, her hackles would be all the way up.
"what makes you think you can just walk on into this territory and set yourself up here? did you genuinely think we wouldn't notice?"

bayard didn't know how exactly it was possible to lose such a distinctive guy in what could barely pass for a crowd but he did know he'd managed it. the black wooly hat was nowhere to be seen. he stood still for a moment, raising his head just enough to search the hotpot of scents around him for that of the scout. nada.
normally, he'd feel honour-bound to go seek him out and make sure he was okay but something was off with himself today. he couldn't put a finger on it but his parents had always said that death changes people. so with a weak sigh, he just set off into the streets, following the light foot traffic towards that one spot basically everybody in jasper knew. he guessed he'd have to get that coffee himself. rude.

"Anything well worth the effort is work though no matter what it may be. Thats something that never changes. I know you probably don't agree, but I count us as friends.", said Lucas giving his packmate a small grin if only for a breif moment. After that it was right back to the sentinel's useual stoic calm demenor again. "You're not half bad for morning company Jessica. Plus you are the one that asked me if I wanted to come remember? I didn't just invite myself along." The young man let out a breath setting down his now empty cup with the exceptions of thick traces of coffee left behind in it's bottom. "That hit the spot speaking of rainy days. As much as I hate admitting it coming here is nice."

Theo nodded at the widows statement taking down a few notes and a reminder to check the cameras. When she heard her mumbling about already submitting a statement she shot the other woman a sympathetic look. “Strong is a kind person and a good partner, but she doesn’t seem to be the best filer”, Theo said quietly barely finishing her sentence before the mood of the room shifted dramatically. She didn’t need super powers to tell that other female was suddenly almost on edge, but even then she wasn’t quite prepared for the statement that came out if her mouth. Her first instinct was to put the other woman in her place, but she reminded herself that she was in no place to do that anymore. She shrugged, “The packs here aren’t well known beyond local politics, certainly not to those of us who live in England. The truth of the matter is I didn’t know any packs were here and I didn’t know what you were until I met you, I just got a job offer and took it”.

her soft tone was long gone.
"oh, really? i must be better at my job than i originally thought. still, you would do well to actually check through the appropriate channels whether there's wolves in the area. we have a couple of english wolves around here that certainly knew we were here before they turned up on our doorstep so don't bother using another country as an excuse."
emmelene took a small sip from the cup and a big sigh as she slowly reined her temper in. she did, she knew, have a reputation to uphold. it wouldn't do to let it loose.
"and there's two packs here, you might be interested to know. the others live outside of the town and mostly keep to themselves whereas we-" she took another sip - "like to know precisely what's going on in our territory."
the redhead shot a quick glance to the window. there was nothing outside but the fencing surrounding the refurbished warehouse and a weak afternoon sun trying - and failing - to pierce the mist. she tugged the sleeves of his sweater further down her wrists.
"we're also not twisted to the point where we'll shred everything that wanders into our territory, or even those who simply disagree with what we say and believe. there's dangerous things besides them in those trees, but i'm not sure which of the two i'd rather face. speaking as a friend i'd advise, ms deputy, that you are careful. you can be sure they'll hunt your down the moment they realise you're here."
a weak smile.
"or, of course, you could take a different option. i'd rather not find you torn from limb to limb in a week from now and i'm sure you'd prefer that, too."

the moonlighters' cafe was always busy, but the wave of scents that assaulted him the moment he pushed open the door had his hackles up in seconds.
the woman who had given him his characteristic limp raised her head and narrowed her eyes. he didn't see her waiting tables often, fortunately, but when he did it was always incredibly hard to not just turn around and run out again. ty resisted, purely to preserve his precious pride, but it was always a close call. what an insult to his - and his pack's - honour for him to run from a potential fight before the first strike came. perhaps that was the reason he'd been beaten to within an inch of his life. probably.

beyond the scent of briars and iron that emanated from that side of the room, though, was something else. something that didn't strike him as belonging to either pack, nor the humans they lived amongst. he looked over, narrowing his eyes when he failed to recognise the men sat at the table the steel beta was serving. the feral scent was there. it wasn't something you could mistake. more lone wolves. and, he noted, loners who looked like they'd just been claimed, judging from the way the beta had positioned herself next to them. that rat of an alphaess moved far, far too quickly for his liking. her pack weren't exactly the brightest bunch but she.. she was something else. almost silver level intelligence, perhaps. he pulled out his phone as he slid into the queue, barely noticing his packmates' presence in front of him as he tapped out a hurried message to his alphaess and hit send.

"Now now boys settle down, a public place like this is hardly the place for a barnyard brawl. Honestly men can be such big babies some times....so high-strung and anxious.", sighed Faith pushing Rose her completed drink with an eyeroll in regards to their male companions. Males were exhausting no matter which Jasper Ridge pack you looked at. "Whoever stains my newly polished floorboards gets a whack on the head and gets to re-polish them, including my apartment upstairs, with a toothbrush.", the young women threatened letting her gaze pass pointedly over everyone in the cafe before coming back to rest on Logan. She didn't care who belonged to what pack. Her threat was far from an empty one. Like the wolf was seriously going to tolerate a fight between packs in her establishment. Ha! Yeah no!

Having moved Rose and Logan along after serving the other female, Faith returned her attention to the morning line. Brown eyea coming to rest on none other then Bayard Tyraemar..a Silver Pack Sentinel. Though he seemed rather busy when it was his turn to place an order with his phone. It looked like he was texting. The brunette could only wonder which of the possible two options was the correct option. Faith just stood at her place behind the counter waiting patiently.

The beta jerked her head back with yelp of pain when she wolf tore at her jaw and swiped her paw in a vicious and fast strike to escape from her grasp. The male wolf joined the chaos, but she was more prepared for his attack than the she-wolf's prior one this time shifting her weight with the attack and letting herself be knocked over using the momentum to roll quickly back to her paws. She put space between herself and the two siblings as she considered her options flattening her ears to her skull and baring her teeth. While she could possibly beat both of the sentinels Soleil if she was smart would be gone and safe by then and with a third scent that was unfamiliar and likely steel wafting towards them it wasn't worth getting injured over. She snorted flicking her tail in annoyance and shoving her ears forward in a show of dominance before turning her back to the pair and taking her leave into the woods. While not necessarily the smartest of moves it was more of a show of strength in that the beta wasn't to concerned about what they would be able to do to her. When she was a ways off from the scene of the brawl she picked up speed and ran towards the pack house enjoying the wind in her fur for a moment. She shifted back into her human form when she was at a reasonable distance mid-stride but walked the rest of the way when a hand pressed to her stomach came away bloody. Rowan frowned at the wound but it wasn't the worst outcome that could've happened and she slipped into one entrance making it to the medical bay seeing no one else around for the most part.

pair of loners in the steel cafe. maybe the ones sighted in helena earlier this week by peripherals. i think they've just been claimed by the steel wolves. might need to have a scout tail them. he stared at the message he'd just sent, frowning slightly, then jumping into motion whn he realised the steel alpha was staring at him.
"morning. afternoon? what time of day is it?" a quick glance at his watch. "afternoon, even. could i have a vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso?" the sentinel pulled a ten dollar bill out of his jacket pocket and passed it to faith conners with a weak smile. sometimes he felt bad about actively funding the steel wolves but he'd done the maths, obviously, and the profits of his caffeine addiction would barely buy them a few t-shirts. at least, that's what he told himself.

in truth, though, he was just over the whole thing. sentinel or not. nearly fifteen years of his life for this pack, for what? a hundred acres of woodland to the west of jasper? he remembered the divide, and was the only remaining member of the pack left who had been a fighter at the time. he remembered the arguments and the rising tempers and finally the bloodshed. he'd lost almost all of his friends when they turned and sided with the steel alphas of the time. that, above all else, had devastated the englishman. perhaps even more so than when his parents went "missing" during the fighting. there one day, gone the next. they'd run away back to hertfordshire, he'd later discovered. from digging through the electoral roll and not from them. it'd been ten years and still not a word from them. bayard, despite his usual character, had developed a petty streak and never reached out to them, either. they were better off where they were. despite his hot-headed pride, he couldn't be mad at that.

"oh, and, uh, could you please make it a large? sorry." he smiled apologetically at the other werewolf. this whole set up was so, so weird to him, even now. how easily even the most aggressively silver wolves could be won over by the coffee this place produced. it gave him more hope for the future than he'd ever publically admit.

"Just because a few wolves knew about you before they got here doesn't mean that everyone would or should be expected to know you're here, and the only 'channels' I had are dead now", she said keeping a carefully neutral tone. The last thing she wanted was for the other alpha to feel disrespected in the base of her own territory. "Good to know", she said debating what to do with the information of an entire other pack. Emmelene didn't seem to refer to the other pack to fondly either and Theo wondered if there was some kind of history there. The other alpha's final statement set her on edge and her eyes ignited the bloody red color, what used to be her mark of status and power, on instinct. She fought down the sense of dread building in her stomach reassuring herself that it wasn't a threat or a challenge. Theo took a moment to breathe and her eyes returned to their more human state and forced as much of a smile as she could muster. "I'll be sure to keep that in mind".

Faith Conners

Steel Pack l Alpha Female l location-town, Moonlighters Cafe l tags - Ty, Victor (everyone in the cafe)

Faith chuckled seeing Ty start when he placed his order. For the love of all things good were her species high strung and easy to unrattle. Or perhaps it was just the ones she knew. Withdrawing a bit acting more reserved, "Yes of course sir. Please give me a moment."

Taking the money the male sentinel offered from the counter, the petite brunette pushed a button on the registar. At her touch the bottom drawer immedietly poped out for the female to deposit the payment in. Faith had seen Ty around the cafe quite often. In fact he came around often enough that the silver wolf was one of her regulars much like Rose was. Unlike the other pack's delta though they didn't talk much aside from her thanking him for his purchase. Even that little bit of interaction was useually sometimes skipped for a simple silent nod instead. Collecting the appropriate bills and coins to add up to Ty's change, the young brunette passed it to her customer before turning to start preparing his late. Though while working the steel wolf kept a carefull watch on the cafe's activity behind her just in case an incident were to happen. So far her little threat seemed to have stopped everyone from being daring enough to test her patience...but that could have just been the presence of three pack leaders in the building at once too. Steel had their alpha and beta, while silver had their delta. The others present would have to be either down right stupid or seriously want to fight in order to even consider causing a commotion with those three in the shop.

While working on the large vanilla latte, Faith turned her head to glance at the roman numeral clock hanging on the wall between two of the drink menus. Noon. Ty was right. She had to be getting back to the pack..."Attention everyone! Sorry for the inconvienance but we will be closing in fifteen minutes for lunch break! Must feed our employees! We will open again later today!"
