He hesitated for a moment before answering with eye contact that was a second too long for Kyra's taste, but eventually gave in. She knew he would; he always believed in her ideas. Either that or he just really didn't like to argue. Where were men like this in Kyra's life before? Why he trusted her so much, though, she honestly wasn't sure. He's the one who'd saved her ass from a gruesome death and yet she seemed to be making the calls. Not that she complained, she'd always been one to enjoy leading the way.
"Yeah, of course. I'm not going anywhere." Kyra assured him. "Unless you get eaten. Then I'm gonna have to book it." She added before turning her head from him and walking towards the smoke. She figured they could take it easy now; save their energy in case of emergency and not call too much attention to themselves by making a ton of unnecessary noise.

he cracks the smallest of smiles at what he believed as an attempt to lighten the conversation. jimmy turns too and follows behind. his nature, he knew, didn't make him incapable of doing exactly what kyra was doing- he had saved her, afterall -but it was a choice, more or less. she called the shots and he followed, done whatever was necessary. it was easier that way. they survived that way.
it had been silent for a while before they heard movement. jimmy had the gray hood to his jacket pulled up, loosely hanging off his head. not for any reason other than it made him feel safer, unrecognizable at least by other humans if they ran into any trouble. he's the first to hear the noise, almost stopping without alerting kyra. "hey, listen," he calls out in a whisper, jogging the two steps it took to catch up. "do you hear that?" he asks, turning in the singular spot he stood to look around them. it was too light to be those things but still could be a threat.

============================================================================================================== | Marisol King | 18 | tags: Douglas King, Tony King |
"Of course not, father. It's considerate of you not to view me as predictable" Marisol answered with her conspicuous mature tone, a pleasant smile on her face. "What has everyone else been doing?" she further asks, curious as to what the other members of the family have busied themselves with, and hopeful for maybe a bit of news on the Grahams, even though at this early hour that is unlikely. She too, was grateful for any opportunity to talk with the very few people she was in contact with, not the biggest fan of menial conversation, but tolerating it for the sake of avoiding loneliness. Suddenly disturbed from her thoughts by a faint pounding, she realizes with a small grin that a part of her question has been answered for her. The audible thunking that Solie had learned to associate with Tony's hockey playing stops not long after, causing Solie to wonder how early her cousin had awakened, to have already completed his practicing.
At times like these, Solie wished she had a hobby more meaningful then her trademark way of wandering through nature. All she found as an excuse was that the beautiful thing all nature presented itself to be, simply drew her in. She's always been obsessed with the forgettable material of the world, the very world itself. Invisible components of life, like imagination, and joy, and relationship forming, all posed a favorable thing in Solie sight too, but not on the level that a simple sunrise could. Quietness and stillness lent a rare opportunity to forget the Kings and Grahams' circumstances, even to forget about the KIngs and Grahams all together. For Solie, those times of utter peace in nature were a time of silent worship to God that made her forget about individuals and the primitive state they all lived in now, that is until her dad or mom reminded her those individuals were waiting on her to clean the dishes. These waif thoughts would enter her mind vaguely, but with all the responsibilities she as well as everyone must be accountable for, rarely had time to find a home in her consciousness. In any case, as she looked at her dad to a response now, she certainly did not think of these things. Never had she realized that she appreciated the simple things so much, as everyone waited for this time of simplicity to end, to meet new people, and to reestablish the life they knew before. Of course, no new people were out there to meet, right?==============================================================================================================

============================================================================================================== | Axel Graham | 22 | tags: open |
Yawning loudly, Axel refused to open his eyes as light streamed in the window of his small bedroom in the Graham household. Hunger motivated him to sit up finally, rubbing his neck over his large tattoo, eyes still closed to the day beginning around him. Light birdsong from outside did nothing to cheer him up, only annoy him briefly before the rustling caused by his standing distracted him. Finally, he gave into the grumbling of his stomach, opened his eyes , and began to dress for the day. Going through the normal morning hygiene protocol, he grumbled at the tediousness of it all. As was his custom, he tried to find at least one thing to do a day that even remotely suggested spontaneousness. Usually it had to do with adventuring beyond the borders that were considered safe, trying to find a way to make music with odd objects, or skateboarding on new obstacles he'd build over the course of a week. Everything he did in a day was intended to be done alone, but occasionally someone would come along and join him. He told himself he hated when that happened, and refused to admit that his hobbies all seemed to be done with the assumption that he would one day present them to other people.
Rifling through the black hair that he had only just finished combing with his sun-tanned hand, Axel let out a breath of air and sauntered back into his bedroom from the bathroom. He glanced around the room, eyes brushing headphones he had no use for anymore, black checkered bed, cherrywood desk scattered with a notebook dedicated to songwriting, and his collection of metal CDs and much older rock records, he finally found what he'd been looking for. Throwing on his athletic jacket, he started for the kitchen. First on his list after getting ready and eating, was chores. Grudgingly he completed his assigned tasks, for the sole reason of hoping it would grant him free time in which to do whatever he wanted. His fingers lighted on the guitar pick attached to a chain necklace he habitually wore. Now that his electric guitar was useless, he had taken to playing an acoustic his parents had bought him a while back. When they had bought it, he'd thought of it as them trying to buy his affections, but now he was glad for the gift, it gave him something to do when life proved to be ever unchanging.

They walked forward for several minutes, not long before Jimmy grabbed her attention and made her stop and listen. She did hear something. "It's probably a... rabbit. Or something," she whispered back. She wasn't sure if she was entirely convinced of that, though. She didn't have any real weapons on her; she had no guns or anything. She did have a blade she used for basic survival, but it did nothing against the monsters and it would do even less if there was someone out there with a gun. They stood still and silent for a few more moments, listening. "We gonna book it or fight back?"
Running was always what this pair was best at, but if there was seriously another person out there, she didn't want to send them into a panic. The sound of a fired gun would probably be the worst thing for them at this moment.

FAMILY: KING TAGS: LIZZIE LOC: KING HOME WORDS: 226
dent Gus woke around the time voices stirred outside. Sitting in a wad of warm blankets, he could see figures circled around a fire. Though yards from the house and through windowpanes fogged with age, he was familiar enough with the Grahams to confidently pick each of them out.
dentHis head of curls turned away from what laid beyond his room. The heel of his hand rubbed deeply at the socket of his right eye, what exhaustion that'd kept him down so long resisting the push to leave. Gus dressed after sitting a moment longer, set aside boots tied past his ankles and last threw a jacket over his shoulders to fight off the morning temperatures. Entering the kitchen, he heard a shuffle of feet from the room his mother and father shared. It occurred to him that he wasn't entirely sure who of his household was awake, and proceeded with light footsteps. Nearing the door at the front to take the handle, it wasn't by a more than second he was beat by a knock.
dentGus seemed to beam when he opened the door to Lizzie. Before speaking, he edged outside to close it behind himself, then instinctively placed his hands at the dip of her waist. Kissing the bridge of her nose, he pulled away with question at his brows. "Everything's okay, isn't it?"

- - - - -Oddly enough, Lizzie didn't hear the shuffling of feet or any stumbling from the other side of the door. She felt a wash of relief at that. She hadn't disturbed anyone. Instead, the door opened almost immediately after her knuckles left the wood. She breathed a small sigh of relief once she caught a glimpse of Gus's dark curls. She was glad it was Gus who answered the door, not one of his family members. She had no problem with the Kings -- in fact, she quite liked pretty much all of them -- but it was always awkward to ask for your boyfriend at sunup. Or maybe it wasn't. She was overthinking all of this. Regardless, Gus answered the door with a bright smile, one she returned.
- - - - -Gus closed the door and Lizzie was about to go in with the common niceties -- telling him good morning, asking how he slept, and so on -- but he made quick work of holding onto her waist and kissing her nose. A blush crept over her cheeks and she couldn't help but giggle at the contact. They'd been together for a while. Logic dictates that Lizzie should have been used to it by then, but Gus being so sweet to her always made her giddy.
- - - - -She tilted her head slightly and quirked an eyebrow at his question. Was there a specific reason he was suspecting trouble? Or was she just reading too much into this again? "Yeah, everything's fine," she said with a shrug. "My dad just wanted me to get the eggs," she said, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet. "But he said there'd be quite a few and suggested that you tag along to help," she said, casually slipping her hand in his.
