        ⋆ -- ( HERMIONE ) ─────────────────────────────────
        [ location : diner ] [ bound to : benny ] [ tagged : emma ] [ 500 words ]

          - - - - -The diner was, as per usual, forcing one waitress to do most of the work and cover mos of the floor on her own. It wasn't a big establishment, she knew. Usually, one waitress was perfectly capable of handling the entire place. Despite knowing this and knowing firsthand the the owner couldn't afford to hire an extensive staff, she felt bad for the woman. Hermione hadn't seen her before, but she was starting to think that was going to be a normal thing from now on. Pine Falls has had an influx of new people since she left. There were bound to be plenty of new faces, plenty of people who knew nothing about her family and their presence here. She was content with that. The less people knew, the better, as far as she was concerned.

          - - - - -The waitress, a woman with dark hair and large eyes, approached her solitary booth, filling her glass with water, just as she had done with all the other customers she was taking care of. Hermione took a moment to look over her, scanning for any defining characteristics. She was hoping that, since she obviously didn't recognize the woman, maybe certain traits would point to her being from a certain family at least. Unfortunately, she didn't have the sandy hair of the Allred's or the wide noses of the Lunsford's. She couldn't place her. Definitely a new face. Or, at least relatively new. "Good morning," she said, returning the simple courtesy that the woman extended to her. Despite being pretty busy, the waitress seemed in good spirits. Or maybe that was just her 'customer service' facade. Either way, Hermione was relieved.

          - - - - -Before turning to the menu before her, Hermione caught a brief look at the woman's name tag -- which, in hindsight, should have been the first place she looked if she was trying to get a clue about her identity. The woman, Emma, apparently, left Hermione to the menu before dashing away to a pair of women in another booth, a pair of women that appeared to be good friends in deep conversation. Hermione couldn't place either of them. Though she assumed that the redhead might be the same 'petite redhead with the pretty smile' that her mom said worked at the flower shop. She shrugged off the thought, thanking Emma as she walked away.

          - - - - -Hermione briefly glanced over the menu, mostly scanning for any changes or additions to the classic diner that she grew up in, before ultimately closing it. She had a very typical order that she'd been getting since she was four years old, and she'd been craving a good burger since she left home all those years ago. She kept her eyes peeled for anything strange -- as vigilance was an unfortunate habit of hers -- and did her best to observe everything that she possibly could. She wasn't looking for anything in particular, but with the way Pine Falls was evolving and changing, she figured it was best to stay sharp.
