The small mountain town of
Pine Falls is known for being somewhat
of a haven for those who are trying to
escape from something. secrets are
second nature to the folk of Pine Falls
and you never know what is happening
behind someone else's closed doors.
what the people of the town don't know
is that just beyond the treeline that
encloses them, lies the territory of a
pack of werewolves. wolves who have
recently ventured into the town due to
being called by an instinctive nature to
follow their imprint bond. a bond awoken
by the arrival of five very different girls.

The incessant buzzing of a phone caused Cherry to blearily lift her head from her pillow. She grumbled quietly to herself as she switched the alarm off and sat up, her eyes taking a moment to adjust to the low light in the room. She yawned and made her way to the bathroom to get ready for her day. She had about an hour until her shift started at the bookshop, thankfully, it wasn't too far away from where she lived. After a quick shower, she regarded her appearance in the mirror. She had chosen a black off-shoulder top which accentuated her curves, she had coupled this with a pair of faded denim jeans that stopped just above her ankles. She did a little twirl in the mirror with a gentle smile, she always took pride in her appearance, something drilled into her by her mother from a very young age. She completed her outfit with a pair of plain black vans and grabbed her breakfast from the kitchen. She always felt uneasy being in the kitchen in silence. Her house had always been abuzz with her mother's various guests as well as the meetings her father held with his business partners. Since she'd moved to Pine Falls she had only met a handful of people and so far, only one of those she could call anything close to a friend. Cherry sighed, she liked her little house, she had chosen something a little more understated as to not draw attention to herself but she missed the noise of a large household. She was considering getting a pet, maybe a puppy to keep her company. She just hadn't got round to it yet. Cherry looked at the clock and cursed quietly, she had to get a move on otherwise she'd be late for work.

Ten minutes later, Cherry was opening up the little book shop that stood on the corner of the main street in Pine Falls. It was an independent store owned by an older couple and they treated Cherry like the daughter they'd never had. She had been absolutely blessed to find the job in the small shop and her wage allowed her to live comfortably. When she entered she saw the Mr. St. Clair had left the newly delivered books for her to sort out and shelve. This was one of her favourite jobs, it allowed her to become immersed in the world of books and she often passed hours without even realising it. She started by sorting the books into their categories, keeping an eye out for anything that she felt Arielle may be interested in. She was halfway through her pile when an older book stood out to her, it was titled 'Mythos' and seemed to cover a vast expanse of Greek mythology, this was totally up Arielle's street. She took a picture of the front cover and texted it to her fellow red-head. This of interest to you? x she smiled, she had been really lonely before she'd met Arielle. The day they met was the first day of her job at the book store, she had been training on the tills when the beautiful red-head had walked in. Cherry had been momentarily stunned by how pretty the girl was, the two of them had struck up a conversation over mythology and their love of old books and had bonded rather quickly.

She took her stacks of books towards the back of the store and started methodically placing them away, fitting them snugly among the others on the shelves. She was mindful to keep an eye on the front door in case she was needed by a customer, but largely, she was focused on the back of the shop and putting the books where they belonged. It was an easy job and it brought her a level of satisfaction as every book had its own specific place and by tidying them, she was restoring order. Cherry supposed that she loved order so much due to the lack of it in her home life.

' ✦ ' ─── ❝ The Sunshine ─ I

    ○────────────────────────────────────○

The sun filtered through the large windows just beside Arielle's bed and a small smile found its way onto the woman's face as she began to stir. Her long red locks had been tied back in a little silk cap of sorts to prevent it from tangling or getting damaged as she slept, it was a little trick she learned from a woman many years her elder to help preserve her soft curls. With a yawn she finally sat up, pulling the cap away from her head and stashing it in a drawer beside her she ran her fingers through her hair for a few moments before hopping up and pulling on a pair of red leggings, a white sports bra, and a loose tanktop. she wasn't supposed to turn up for work for an hour or so and in that time she could get in a quick run. She'd found a new trail that weaved around the woods that seemed nice, a chance of scenery compared to the sidewalks of Pine Falls. Popping infront of her mirror she used a scrunchie to pull the top section of her ginger locks into a loose messy bun, pulling some parts along her scalp to loosen it and bring the fringe around her face to the front. Satisfied with her appearance she slipped from her room, letting out soft melodic whistles to which Juliette, her blue budgie, would respond. She moved towards the large cage that was adorned with numerous toys and the likes that she'd bought for the little avian companion.

Within moments the door to the little cage was open and the budgie happily perched herself on Arielle's outstretched hand, chirping as she pet the bird gently. "Would you like some apricot this morning little one?" She cooed to the bird, setting her hand on her shoulder and moving towards her kitchen as the blue and white bird perched happily atop her shoulder, singing and chirping as she did so. Reaching for a small apricot she cut part of it into small, manageable, pieces for the bird before taking the rest for herself. Fruit was a little treat for Juilette, especially something as sweet as an apricot. She set the bird down gently, taking a bite out of her own snack as she tended to the few things that had to be done before she left. Filling Juliette's bowls with grain and seed along with broccoli today for her veggies, picking up a few things along the way that'd been left out from the day before. Her routine came to a halt as her phone buzzed and she grabbed it from the countertop where it was usually kept, "This of interest to you? x" from Cherry with a photo of an old book, 'Mythos'. Instantly she smiled, it looked like an old book, so old time had probably forgotten what was written on its pages. Luck played a key part in Arielle's vast collection of old books, nearly relics, people would pass and while sorting out what they'd left behind the books would be discarded as nothing more than old junk- though another man's trash was her treasure. She was quick to text back, Yes! You're the best I'll be there in a few!! ♥ Her run would have to wait for a few moments.

It wasn't but perhaps fifteen minutes later that she'd turned up at the bookstore and slipped inside, smiling as she spied the girl sifting through books and organizing in the back. Cherry had been one of the first people she had actually met and talked to when she moved to Pine Falls. There was something about the girl that Arielle liked, she was poised and refined. After they'd struck up a conversation of mythology and their shared love of old books it was as if they were destined to become friends and the rest was history. A warm hug had always been her greeting and she smiled as she hugged Cherry in her usual positive greeting, "I heard you have an old soul looking for a home?" her voice was light as she pulled away, bouncing her eyebrows playfully as she tucked her phone into the waistband of her leggings. She drew in a soft breath, the smell of the bookstore had always been something comforting, though she preferred the bright floral notes of her own job there was nothing that beat that of a bookstore.

; ━ ━ ━ ━ ‘✦ MAVERICK !! ━ ━ ━ ━
────────────────────────────────
{ location - the pack's territory } ,, { tagged - ozmen } ,, { mood - bewildered } '''

the sky radiated a dim grey, as glimmers of sunshine beamed through the numerous clouds that huddled together; forming an everlasting glow within the pack's territory, which scattered in the mist that surrounded the lush forest. maverick is not a fan of gloomy weather --- never was, and never will be. it always puzzled him whenever he would see his packmates goof around within the puddles, splashing away in the waster as they waste their lives away. that has always been mav's mindset --- all life is precious, so why dare to spend a moment acting all cowardly? as if to impress nobody ever, maverick would usually scoff about. yeah, the dude can be an ass at times --- a real one when it comes to fun, that's certain. the man grew up sheltered his whole life, attempting to pave a path towards his wants and less of his needs --- many of the folks acknowledged him as that 'trouble youngster' who couldn't keep his dirty paws to himself. many believed that he was not grateful for his life, and the endless amount of love that he was offered.

what could he say? maverick's parents always reminded him continuously that life was indeed, precious.

fortunately, with the past behind him like a fog filled with dreadful memories, maverick can now joyfully lead a pack with confidence and determination --- or lack of. he's still young and learning; he mustn't breakdown when it comes to his success, especially due to how much the pack has accomplished so far. hell, they now have this beautiful and vibrant all to themselves! always be grateful, life is precious... maverick blinked his eyes a few times, attempting to clear his mind of all the toxic thoughts that threatened to tear him down every single, damn night. mav quickly ripped the last bits of his checkered-pattern collar shirt, remembering that he has plenty of more to shred in his den. his amber eyes gleamed within the stream, staring at himself thoughtfully as he allowed the water to ripple before letting his fingers delicately move through the surface. then, the alpha gently began to lather his abdomen and upper body with the fresh water --- closing his eyes, reminiscing of his past. of what he had, and the memories that would come back to haunt up like a knife that was persistently sharpened. these are one of the sole moments that maverick feels that he could just waste away; allowing himself to let go. truthfully, it is rare to witness a time like this --- as he usually prefers to spend it purely alone.

crouching on the ground for a few more minutes, he let his hands ruffle threw his wavy black hair and resting them there before deciding to get up --- watching silently as the remains of his shirt washed away gracefully within the stream, as well as his memories.

suddenly, his eyes flared up in a quick second --- flickering an aggressive flame within his eyes, triggering the wolf transformation that he was not prepared for. hell... if he wanted to get rid of his entire outfit instead of having a moment to relish some of his flashbacks, this could have been the method. in fact, this occurrence has been happening lately, where mav would constantly find himself in a circle of anger and regret --- a viscous cycle that was difficult to escape. just recently, it has been challenging for the alpha to switch off this trance --- but unfortunately, he's beginning to accept his faith of randomly transitioning once he realized that his buddies have started to notice it too. maverick winced as the wind decided to be hostile towards his brown and thick fur, as it began to play with it roughly. finally, he glanced towards the clearing of his territory and walked towards it. if his emotions concluded that they were going to toy around with him, then there is no point for mav to fight it.

as he continued to walk back towards his territory in shame, his ears lowering in response, the alpha noticed that the breeze once again disarranged his fur --- this time, brought his attention towards the town that hung low on the mountain. pine falls? maverick's senses tingled him in a bizarre way when that thought raced through his mind. out of nowhere, his fur began to struck out instinctively when he discovered something out of interest --- which definitely allured him, in an unexpected way. his eyes widened on the little town, before shaking his head to get rid of any attentiveness he once had on this moment. fixing his displacement as he began to walk towards his territory once more, mav continued to ponder on what he had just experienced a second ago. that feeling... it wasn't --- normal. it felt right --- but in different ways. mav growled to himself, as he decided that the more he attempted to make sense of the situation the more he became more confused. however, what the alpha was for sure positive on through this perplexing situation, was that he was hungry as hell. damn... finally a sensation that i am aware of. he smirked lightly appeared on his face.

when he noticed ozmen first, his mood changed for the better. he smiled towards him, flicking his tail in greeting. suddenly, his muzzle began to warm up in embarrassment as he realized that he was the only one in wolf form in camp.

as if he was a dog that just addressed his owner.

finally, maverick transitioned back --- surprised that he was fully clothed for a second, as if he forgot what how shape-shifting worked for 23 years of his life. although, his hair was still messy as if it was ruffled with constantly and there were dirt stains that rested on his pale skin --- water dripped down his face, which was a reminder of the residue from the stream... and of that unusual moment that he experienced a few minutes ago. for some reason, it still lingered through his thoughts within his mind --- as if there was a purpose. it began to get annoying, as mav couldn't function properly and speak to his fellow packmate in an orderly fashion. his vision was blurry for a second, as if to nudge him that the breeze wasn't messing with him. but maverick seriously did not want to allow it to get into his head, as if he was in denial of what an imprint was. to elaborate further, what a pitiful little town had to do with it. in fact, maverick was fully confident here. he had no worries whatsoever. there was no possible solution to this bizarre case than to let it go... unless other pack members were experiencing it as well.

    were they? mav painfully wondered.

maverick realized that he was in his own world for a minute, before snapping back to reality --- definitely feeling his body heat up once more. mav finally directed his attention to ozmen, who has been waiting patiently for what seemed like forever. "uh- right... ozmen, i was thinking of setting up a hunting session this early morning. i'm glad you're up, i feel like the whole gang could use some sunshine and fresh prey. do you mind gathering them?" he gave a small smile before giving his fellow hunter a pat on the back, as he awkwardly shuffled away. bringing the whole pack for a simple hunt seemed quite out of schedule, as it's usually a hunter's job --- but maverick did not want to cease the opportunity.

to actually find out, once and for all, that he was gradually going insane.

Drayton Severin
The simplicity of being unknown and forgotten....

I am~ ”Traveling through the forest.”
Feeling~ ”Apathetic.”
Role ~ ”Scout.”
Tagged~ None

Cautious, Vigilant, Protect. The words raced through the wolf’s head, hovering and constantly reminding him of how he had to be, what he needed to do. The words were deeply imprinted into his head and never loosen their grip. Remain cautious at all times. Stay vigilant and listen to your instincts. Protect those close to you at all costs. They were codes he lived by every day, a sort of chant he kept in mind to have him remember why he was here and why he needed to do so. He wasn’t going to repeat past mistakes. Gray and tan ears twitching, the brute tuned into his surroundings and growled lowly, bright amber eyes scanning the forest around him as he listened in. He was a few ways away from his pack, scouting the perimeter around them to make sure they were safe. Pack. A word the wolf never thought he would be thinking of, let alone actually letting it become a reality. He was born a loner and the thought of ever joining a pack never crossed his mind, in fact, the brute held a certain disliking towards packs. Having witness wars, downfalls, rebellions within packs, he never has never seen reason to join them, only to avoid them. The fact that one almost brought death upon him only solidified that conclusion, yet something had occurred that caused him to change his long time decision. Shaking his head, Drayton snapped out of his thoughts and focused back onto his task, taking a step forwards he scented the air, black nose quivering as he inhaled the surrounding scents. He could smell the earthly soil beneath him along with the musky smells of the forest animals. The multiple scents of his pack mates wafted around his nostrils, and with further concentration he could pick out the faint whiffs of the nearby town.

Ears pricking forwards, the wolf tilted his head to the side in curiosity as he gazed off in the direction of the town. Pine Falls. His fur bristled slightly at the thought of the name and he growled lowly in response, his head shaking in slight confusion. Something was going on lately with the town. Drayton wasn't entirely sure yet for some reason, for the past few days he's felt drawn to venture closer to the human populated city. The wilderness was his comfort and he always stood within the confines of it, often going out of his pack's territory and investigating what laid beyond, but he never was once curious about the town. Until now. Paws shifting in place he slowly crept forwards- his steps light and silent as he moved along the shadows. The tree line broke and gave way to a small cliff that overlooked the remaining of the forest and the town below. Head lowering close to the ground, the brute set his amber gaze onto the small buildings. His instincts started to go haywire, fur bristling and a low snarl coursing through him once he took an abrupt step back. A sharp tug in the middle of his chest, his ribs constricting as he fought back against his instincts. Why was his body attempting to shift? This never happens. If anything it was always a struggle to stay in human form and not shift back into a wolf.

Something was calling to him and it immediately put him on edge. Forcing him to shift out of the form he preferred, making his animalistic instincts rise more than usual. Drayton wasn't entirely positive on what could be the reasoning behind it, but he had a small inkling to what it might be. There was only one thing that made werewolves go haywire. Huffing quietly to himself the brute shook his head and turned back around to head back to his pack. He could only hope that his possible conclusion was wrong.
