the sky radiated a dim grey, as glimmers of sunshine beamed through the numerous clouds that huddled together; forming an everlasting glow within the pack's territory, which scattered in the mist that surrounded the lush forest. maverick is not a fan of gloomy weather --- never was, and never will be. it always puzzled him whenever he would see his packmates goof around within the puddles, splashing away in the waster as they waste their lives away. that has always been mav's mindset --- all life is precious, so why dare to spend a moment acting all cowardly? as if to impress nobody ever, maverick would usually scoff about. yeah, the dude can be an ass at times --- a real one when it comes to fun, that's certain. the man grew up sheltered his whole life, attempting to pave a path towards his wants and less of his needs --- many of the folks acknowledged him as that 'trouble youngster' who couldn't keep his dirty paws to himself. many believed that he was not grateful for his life, and the endless amount of love that he was offered.
what could he say? maverick's parents always reminded him continuously that life was indeed, precious.
fortunately, with the past behind him like a fog filled with dreadful memories, maverick can now joyfully lead a pack with confidence and determination --- or lack of. he's still young and learning; he mustn't breakdown when it comes to his success, especially due to how much the pack has accomplished so far. hell, they now have this beautiful and vibrant all to themselves! always be grateful, life is precious... maverick blinked his eyes a few times, attempting to clear his mind of all the toxic thoughts that threatened to tear him down every single, damn night. mav quickly ripped the last bits of his checkered-pattern collar shirt, remembering that he has plenty of more to shred in his den. his amber eyes gleamed within the stream, staring at himself thoughtfully as he allowed the water to ripple before letting his fingers delicately move through the surface. then, the alpha gently began to lather his abdomen and upper body with the fresh water --- closing his eyes, reminiscing of his past. of what he had, and the memories that would come back to haunt up like a knife that was persistently sharpened. these are one of the sole moments that maverick feels that he could just waste away; allowing himself to let go. truthfully, it is rare to witness a time like this --- as he usually prefers to spend it purely alone.
crouching on the ground for a few more minutes, he let his hands ruffle threw his wavy black hair and resting them there before deciding to get up --- watching silently as the remains of his shirt washed away gracefully within the stream, as well as his memories.
suddenly, his eyes flared up in a quick second --- flickering an aggressive flame within his eyes, triggering the wolf transformation that he was not prepared for. hell... if he wanted to get rid of his entire outfit instead of having a moment to relish some of his flashbacks, this could have been the method. in fact, this occurrence has been happening lately, where mav would constantly find himself in a circle of anger and regret --- a viscous cycle that was difficult to escape. just recently, it has been challenging for the alpha to switch off this trance --- but unfortunately, he's beginning to accept his faith of randomly transitioning once he realized that his buddies have started to notice it too. maverick winced as the wind decided to be hostile towards his brown and thick fur, as it began to play with it roughly. finally, he glanced towards the clearing of his territory and walked towards it. if his emotions concluded that they were going to toy around with him, then there is no point for mav to fight it.
as he continued to walk back towards his territory in shame, his ears lowering in response, the alpha noticed that the breeze once again disarranged his fur --- this time, brought his attention towards the town that hung low on the mountain. pine falls? maverick's senses tingled him in a bizarre way when that thought raced through his mind. out of nowhere, his fur began to struck out instinctively when he discovered something out of interest --- which definitely allured him, in an unexpected way. his eyes widened on the little town, before shaking his head to get rid of any attentiveness he once had on this moment. fixing his displacement as he began to walk towards his territory once more, mav continued to ponder on what he had just experienced a second ago. that feeling... it wasn't --- normal. it felt right --- but in different ways. mav growled to himself, as he decided that the more he attempted to make sense of the situation the more he became more confused. however, what the alpha was for sure positive on through this perplexing situation, was that he was hungry as hell. damn... finally a sensation that i am aware of. he smirked lightly appeared on his face.
when he noticed ozmen first, his mood changed for the better. he smiled towards him, flicking his tail in greeting. suddenly, his muzzle began to warm up in embarrassment as he realized that he was the only one in wolf form in camp.
as if he was a dog that just addressed his owner.
finally, maverick transitioned back --- surprised that he was fully clothed for a second, as if he forgot what how shape-shifting worked for 23 years of his life. although, his hair was still messy as if it was ruffled with constantly and there were dirt stains that rested on his pale skin --- water dripped down his face, which was a reminder of the residue from the stream... and of that unusual moment that he experienced a few minutes ago. for some reason, it still lingered through his thoughts within his mind --- as if there was a purpose. it began to get annoying, as mav couldn't function properly and speak to his fellow packmate in an orderly fashion. his vision was blurry for a second, as if to nudge him that the breeze wasn't messing with him. but maverick seriously did not want to allow it to get into his head, as if he was in denial of what an imprint was. to elaborate further, what a pitiful little town had to do with it. in fact, maverick was fully confident here. he had no worries whatsoever. there was no possible solution to this bizarre case than to let it go... unless other pack members were experiencing it as well.
were they? mav painfully wondered.
maverick realized that he was in his own world for a minute, before snapping back to reality --- definitely feeling his body heat up once more. mav finally directed his attention to ozmen, who has been waiting patiently for what seemed like forever. "uh- right... ozmen, i was thinking of setting up a hunting session this early morning. i'm glad you're up, i feel like the whole gang could use some sunshine and fresh prey. do you mind gathering them?" he gave a small smile before giving his fellow hunter a pat on the back, as he awkwardly shuffled away. bringing the whole pack for a simple hunt seemed quite out of schedule, as it's usually a hunter's job --- but maverick did not want to cease the opportunity.
to actually find out, once and for all, that he was gradually going insane.
