will walked out of the pack cabin. they were currently in colorado, living in what many would call the "middle of nowhere." though they were actually less than a days hike from a small, mountain town, it seemed as though they were lightyears from the rest of the world. he took a deep breath and looked back at the building. he merely wanted what was best for family, for the pack. colorado may not have been his best choice yet, but at least they were safe for now. all he needed was their safety and happiness. he began to walk into the woods around him, he just needed a moment of quiet. he loved his family deeply, but he also knew his limits. he needed to breathe every once and a while. after he was out of sight of the cabin, he shifted effortlessly into his wolf form. he began to run, feeling the wind ruffle through his pelt. the brute took in all the scents surrounding him, letting his instincts lead him to a peaceful spot. once he reached a spot on the mountainside where he was satisfied, will sat down on a large boulder, looking out over the woods, the smoke from the cabin barely visible over the trees.

name: jennifer
age: twenty-four
rank: zeta
shift: lioness
love: single
tags: arkady
her blonde ponytail bounced against her back as she made her way back to the cabin after a long, morning run. despite the slight autumn chill, she was now officially sweaty, and simply wanted to get back and take a shower. she was so focused on her thoughts, making note of all the things she had to do today, and working her way back to the cabin, that she actually didn't notice the lion.
the two, one running a perimeter and one running home, crashed into each other and jennifer was sent crashing to the ground. the zeta landed with a hard thud. her breath was completely knocked out of her. had she been able to get air in her lungs, the woman may have instinctively shifted into her feline form, but at the moment, she was shell shocked.
jj gasped for oxygen. a dull pain in her back throbbed..

name: daniel
age: twenty-nine

dan was out and about, taking a walk by the lake. he had been up and at it for hours. it was common practice for him to patrol the area in the early morning. he had a sudden onset of hunger and his stomach let out a very unpleasant noise, not amused by the lack of food it had received today. so, the man began to make his way back towards the cabin.
his feet felt heavy, so he decided to remove the boots he was wearing and walk barefoot instead. he loved the feeling of the ground under his feet and the grass between his toes. the nu inhaled deeply as he made his way into the clearing near their newfound home, taking in the sweet smells of the morning one last time.

name: christian
age: twenty-six
rank: pi
shift: meerkat
love: single
tags: lake;open
chris hesitantly rolled out of bed, attempting not to wake any of the other men in his room. he slipped on a track suit and exited the room, immediately heading for the door. for the time of day, he had quite a bit of energy to work off, so he decided to make his way down to the lake for an late morning swim.
christian glanced around before shifting into his meerkat form and scurrying towards the body of water. once there, he jumped in and was instantly refreshed.
after swimming for a short while, the pi got out of the lake and made his way over to the dock, curling up into a ball absorbing the sunlight on his fur. he also turned on his enhanced hearing and listened for anything interesting happening nearby. compulsive eavesdropping wasn't his best quality, but he really couldn't help himself.

name: angelica
age: twenty-three
rank: sigma
shift: elephant
love: single
tags: open
angelica was singing a song to herself as she made her way through the pack cabin and out the back door. she had originally considered looking for allen. that was her job after all. but she had opted to put that off, at least until later today. for now, she was just going to relax. the not-so-natural blonde sat underneath a tree and glanced up at the sky. the air was not so different from that of her first day of freedom. her mind drifted to that memory, her identic mind making every detail unforgettable. she was only pulled from her thought by movement our of the corner of her eye. she spotted a fellow pack member and and instantly smiled, waving at them.

name: harper
age: twenty-one
rank: tau
shift: owl
love: single
tags: open
harper was scouting, as usual. it appeared to others as her job, but she loved it. currently in her owl form, as it gave her a quicker travel speed, she was two miles north of the cabin. the avian landed on a tree branch, looking around. she had been full circle three times already today and it was fairly early. so far, no threats had been evident but that didn't stop the tau from worrying. harper always felt it was her fault when someone in the pack got hurt. after all, it was her job to scout out potential danger. she looked around again and sighed, before flapping her black and brown wings and taking off again. moving back towards the cabin. before she had gone very far, she spotted movement on the ground. making her way downward, she approached the figure.

name: melanie
age: seventeen
rank: omega
shift: sea turtle
love: single
tags: open
melanie was still asleep, per usual. it wasn't like the girl to get up in a timely matter. it actually wasn't like her to get up in any matter at all, other than rolling out of bed. she liked the comfort that sleep brought. usually. unfortunately, this was not a particularly restful sleep. she was sweating and breathing heavily as a nightmare took over her mind. images flashed behind her eyelids causing her to toss and turn uncontrollably.

name: jackson
age: ten
rank: child
shift: hedgehog

jack nodded his head up and down to the beat of the music as he walked around the living room. the young boy moved into the kitchen, opening and closing the fridge twice before finally deciding what he wanted. he pulled out a carton of eggs and cracked five into a pan. shifters were always hungry. something about changing forms really took it out of a person. he sang along, admittedly poorly, to the beatles song that was playing. sure, he sometimes wished that he could listen to popular music, but he wasn't one to complain. once his scrambled eggs were done, he scraped them onto a plate. leaving his used cooking utensils out and about, jack meandered back into the living room, taking huge bites of egg along the way.

name: adeline
age: six
rank: child
shift: brown fox
love: single
tags: open
addy sat up in a tree contemplating her next move. she hadn't thought very far ahead, or really ahead at all, when climbing up and now she was hopelessly stuck sitting on a branch ten feet up in the air. the little girl didn't really want to call for help, because she didn't want to attract the wrong kind of attention to herself, so she sat quietly. her dark brown eyes scanned the yard in front of her and she wondered briefly if anyone would even know she was missing.
adeline resigned herself to staying on the branch until someone found her. after all, the girl had no hope of getting down on her own. she let out a soft puff of air and leaned her back against the trunk of the tree and curled her legs up to her chest.

Caitlyn | Rho giraffe | tags: Adaline
Shuffling about the cabin with her baggy pajamas still on, Caitlyn nursed a mug of coffee and breathed in the morning air. Her mind worked ahead of her, organizing and categorizing and filing away all the information she needed to keep track of — her body would have none of that Rho business until the caffeine had taken action. With socked feet, the brunette made her way outside and shivered at the difference of the air. Her eyes fluttered as her senses awakened with the chill of a new day, her free hand rubbing her other arm to stimulate some blood flow. She wandered down the sidewalk a little ways, careful to not get her socks too dirtied, and took in the view of the trees and the sky. It had become habitual after shifting so many times, and she felt a sense of almost longing that she couldn’t be quite so far into the heavens as her giraffe form could be.
Amid her daydreaming, her eyes had roamed until she was shocked to see eyes looking back. Someone up in the tree, it looked. Adeline, she noted.
“Hey up there,” Caitlyn craned her neck to see as she drew closer, “you need some help getting down?”

Allen | Psi sea lion | tags: Christian (mentioned)
Sneaking about before most of the cabin was up, Allen had already snagged a bit of food for breakfast and was out at the water’s edge shirking off his outer ware to go swimming by the time the sun was peeking about in the eastern treeline. He floated along, swam, dove to examine oddly shaped rocks. The busy Psi was enjoying his alone time free from responsibility when he glimpsed a figure approaching and quickly shifted to his sea lion form and slipped under the water. Whiskers moving about almost comically, Allen swam toward the splashing about and managed to peek out of the water at the other lake visitor. Judging from the meerkat, it was Christian. Opting to let him be, Allen quietly went under once more and set to exploring the bottom of the lake for snacks.

Jeremiah | Gamma bear | tags: open
Waking up at his typical time, Jeremiah had made his way out of the cabin and down the walkway without a glance in the direction of the kitchen. To him, there was no point in searching out food in there when there was a forest outside and a literal bear to feed. At the end of the stone walk, he shrugged out of his human skin with a few groans and began nosing and snuffing loudly at the forest floor for something to appease his appetite. His claws scraped about as he disturbed leaf litter whereas his geokinesis ability aided in the more hidden treasures such as roots and the like. Eventually he would meander back toward the cabin once he wasn’t so famished, but in the meantime he lumbered about with his greying muzzle toward the ground and his nose leading him to sustenance.

deep brown eyes widened at the sound of a voice. adeline's head swiveled as she attempted to pinpoint where exactly the words were coming from. after a few moments, she spotted caitlyn. 'oh yay. finally someone can help me get out of this stupid tree,' she thought to herself, a smile spreading across her face.
"yes, please!" addy called out to the rho. the tiny brunette was trying not to let here fear show but it was evident that she was anxious to get down. she really hadn't realized how high she had climbed until it was too late and now she was much too far above the ground for comfort.

❀ - "like a flower made of iron"

Postby daughter » Sat Jul 28, 2018 2:39 pm

rank eta | age 20 | gender female | location living room | tags jack
      ______________________________________________________

The smell of food awoke Jamie from her restless sleep. Her latest dreams were filled with visions of being chased, but she could barely remember 80% of what she saw. Brushing off the unsettling thoughts, Jamie pulled out her signature pair of overalls and a light yellow shirt. She quietly moved around the room, making sure not to wake up her roommates who were still asleep. While being careful of what wooden planks she stepped on, she made her way into the bathroom.

Her overalls that were once a deep, rich color were now faded down into a light blue. She put on the shirt first before slipping on the overalls overtop. Jamie brushed her teeth and didn't bother fixing her waves of blonde hair before heading downstairs. The sound of music was comforting since it was one of the things she was very passionate about along with the occasional painting of the beautiful scenery in Colorado. She smiled at Jack who was already eating as she passed on her way to the kitchen. "Good morning Jackson." Jamie grabbed an apple and looked back at the boy after taking note of the left out utensils. "You know, you really ought to clean up after yourself." She said warmly, not being serious at all with her words and took a bite out of the apple.

jackson was so caught up in the beat of the 'octopus's garden' and the taste of his eggs that he didn't even notice jamie entering the room. it wasn't until she spoke that his head snapped in her direction. hazel eyes narrowed at the accusation laid before him. what was he supposed to say? after all, underneath all the experiments and apocalyptic events, he was still a sloppy tweenaged boy. he rolled his eyes at the eta, but a slight grin played lightly on his lips.
"whatever," jack said jokingly. but after finishing his plate, he got up and make his way back to the kitchen to do his dishes. he may be a messy slob, but jack knew when he'd been caught.
"what are you planning on doing today?" the brunette asked, eyeing jamie as he scrubbed his plate.

    BEATRIX
gender; female ♦ age; 21 ♦ rank; Iota ♦ shift form; green tree python ♦ romance; single/no crush ♦ tags; Angelica
Beatrix had her jacket on and her arms wrapping tightly around her waist. She couldn't stand the cold, not the misty, cool air of autumn morning's, and the fact that they were on a mountain made things worse. She knew better than to complain, though. No matter how cold it was, it would always be better than the labs. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw movement underneath a tree. Angelica was waving at her. Beatrix lifted her hand and gave a wave back, deciding to make her way over to the blonde. Perhaps some lively conversation would take her mind off of how cold she was. "Good morning, Angelica, how are you feeling today?" She asked, a small smile curling onto her lips.

    JACE
gender; male ♦ age; 28 ♦ rank; Pi ♦ shift form; plains zebra ♦ romance; single/no crush ♦ tags; Open
Jace made his way out of the cabin, taking in a breath as the crisp autumn air hit his body. He paused at the steps of the cabin, eyes taking in the vast, open space out where the pack was currently set up. It was beautiful, and it was hard to believe that an apocalypse wiped out nearly an entire species. He pushed that fact out of his thoughts- if there was nothing he could do about it, then why dwell on it? He stepped foot into the dewy grass, taking a casual walk around by himself, eyes set on the path in front of him as he became lost in his own thoughts.

    HUDSON
gender; male ♦ age; 24 ♦ rank; Rho ♦ shift form; tasmanian devil ♦ romance; single/no crush ♦ tags; Open
Hudson was about to make his way into the cabin where the kitchen was, but he saw Jamie go inside, and his nose wrinkled. He didn't feel like being around her right now, he wasn't in a mood for teasing people quite yet. Instead, he went a different direction, strolling toward the more forested area. Underneath his feet, the leaves noisily crunched, and he paused, feeling a little irritated by all of the sound he was making. His resolution to this was to turn into his shift form, a tasmanian devil, and scuffle along the forest floor, seeking out any food he could find.

    SELENE
gender; female ♦ age; 30 ♦ rank; Phi ♦ shift form; mute swan ♦ romance; single/no crush ♦ tags; Adeline, Caitlyn
When Selene woke up, panic struck through her when she realized that the cabin was completely empty. Both Jackson and Adeline were out of bed and out of the cabin. She didn't even take time to throw day clothes on, running out of the cabin in her pajamas. First, she would look for Adeline. She was supposed to be with the little six-year-old at all times, and for good reason. Afterward, she would just check to make sure Jackson was okay and out of trouble. After some walking, she noticed Caitlyn looking up at a tree. Selene quickly approached, looking up, and seeing little Adeline in the tree. A small gasp escaped her lips, looking over at Caitlyn. "Oh, my goodness, I'm so sorry about this. If you need to go and do something, I don't mind getting her down myself. She's my responsibility, after all." She sounded rather embarrassed as she spoke to Caitlyn. What kind of Phi wakes after after the kids she's supposed to be caring for?

Caitlyn | Rho giraffe | tags: Adeline and Selene
The Rho smiled at Selene, waving her hand to gently dismiss the other’s panic. “Really, it’s not a problem.” Caitlyn set her coffee to the side, careful to not spill the precious liquid. Once the mug was safely out of the way, she took a few paces forward and allowed her body to grow and stretch to that of her giraffe form. The branch was now easily accessible and her large, dark eyes peered patiently at the Adeline. Moving to rest herself against the limb lightly, her ears flicked comically.

Jeremiah | Gamma bear | tags: Hudson
In his foraging, Jeremiah picked up on the scent of something alive. A few more paces and a small deal more of sniffing about, he recognized it as one of his fellow shifters. The large grizzly lumbered after the trail of the animal until he spied a dark form rustling along. His animal mind disregarded the name in favor of the detail of the Tasmanian devil’s scent. It’s how it usually worked — human things like names and faces were foggy to him, but scents and habit was what he used to remember others. Chuffing a greeting to Hudson, for that’s who it was, he resumed scrounging about for food while leaving some for the marsupial.

angelica smiled at the brunette. she was grateful for the company and for the distraction. that was one thing she really did love about the pack. there was always something or someone there to take your mind off things, even for just a moment.
"I'm alright," the blonde responded with a smile, patting the ground next to her in an offering for the other woman to sit. she really did enjoy beatrix's presence. dispite herself, she found the iota enticing in more ways than one. they weren't exactly hindered souls, but Angie found herself drawn to the brunettes quick wit and edge. like the yin to her yang.
"how are you?"

name: adeline
age: six

adeline was even more relieved to see selene walk out, only followed by the sinking feeling that she might get in trouble. after all she did get out of bed early, leave the cabin alone without permission, climb a tree, and get stuck. the little brunette swallowed hard.
this train of thought, however, was derailed when she say caitlyn begin to shift into her giraffe form. her deep, brown eyes followed the creature in aw. the other shifters forms still amazed her more often than not. she was still getting used to there being others like her. when the giraffe's neck came into contact with the tree, moving her ears oddly, addy couldn't help but let out a joyful giggle.
suddenly forgetting her fears, she reached out and grabbed on to the long, furry neck. she held on tightly and closed her eyes.

Cooper Ford ~ Male ~ Twenty-Seven ~ Single ~ Northern Goshawk ~ Delta
Location: Balcony ~ Tags: Open

As the morning continued and Cooper woke up he didn't stir much, remaining in bed even after he heard his two roommates wake and leave. Honestly he was comfortable and despite the fact that he heard the cabin coming to life by it's inhabitants moving around, he didn't feel like moving. Instead the man opted to lay there until he'd finally had enough of it, then slipped out of bed. Cooper didn't go far though, simply moving down the hall and out onto the second floor balcony. The smell of pine was stronger out here, and he breathed it in deeply before moving to the railing at the edge and leaning his arms against it. His eyes stared longingly at the sky above the treeline. Was it weird that he could just stay here all day in a daze? Or at least when he wasn't shifted and in the air itself. A small yawn escaped him as Cooper had made himself comfortable leaning against the railing. Forcing the man to rub his eyes a little before resuming his early morning sky watching.

Jamie watched Jack clean up after himself with a smile planted on her face. His question stumped her so she took another bite out of her apple and swallowed before answering. "Whatever is needed of me. And if I'm off the hook, then possibly go down to the lake. It looks like a nice day to be outside." She looked at the windows as she spoke, still surprised by the great condition of the house after the seemingly end of the world. It was gorgeous where they lived, something like out of a story book.
"What about you? Have any plans? Jamie turned to face Jackson now and turned her attention back to him.
