”You alright?” Venus asked Ryver, slightly concerned. Her friend had seemed rather distracted ever since she’s been beat by Tae. It happened almost everytime Ryver was beat, which was not very often, as she was a child of the Big Three.

Venus noticed Jacob had picked up on this too. Being a daughter of Athena, she would notice things that others would not. She mainly watched instead of talking, she felt talking was a waste of energy. Nonetheless, Venus was mildly surprised that Jacob, of all demigods, had picked up on this. She’d always thought that he, unlike her, talked instead of thinking.

Tabitha couldn't help but to smile at her remark. She wiped her tears away and looked up at her as Lilou gave her a reassuring look. She took a deep breath and continued. "Before he died I noticed something about the fire." She sighed and looked at her hand. She could do this right? What did it take to make her hand blow up? She kept focusing on her hand and it began to warm up. Sparks started to show between her fingertips and a moment later a small flame flickered in the middle of her hand. It started to become stronger and stronger but Tabitha shut her hand before it got too big, because she knew she couldn't control it. I guess actually showing Lilou was the only way to explain it. Her eyes began to water once more "It's my fault he died... that's why I never use this power, act like a freak and run away from fire.." She tried to explain her actions. She felt horrible for lying to everyone but she didn't want them to see her as the monster she already thought she was. She hadn't even told her mom, or the superiors when they asked her what her powers were.

He looked over at Jacob " How did it go with Tabitha?" He asked out of curiosity. His brown eyes scanning his friend. Then he mentioned something about him being speechless. "pht.. me speechless? I don't think so" He said looking at him. He put his focus back on the fight. He knew Ryver was a good fighter. But he had never seen Tae fight before, thus he was surprised to see the outcome. "Glad to know all the girls in this camp are perfectly able to kick our butts"
He said sarcastically.

Ryver walked towards her friend, smiling and pocketing Riptide. "I'm okay. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow, though. I'll probably go to lake tonight to relax after the bonfire then come back here tomorrow morning." She was deep in thought, crossing her arms as she did so. "Tae is a great person to spar with. She teaches me about weak spots I didn't know I had. I like learning about them so I can strengthen them for battle." She shook her head, giving a small laugh and gave her a hug. "It's good to see you, Venus. It's been quiet."

"It went okay. She burned her hand, so I healed it for her. I have a feeling she's hiding something, though. I don't know what, but I'm sure it has to do with Hephaestus." He was rambling again, lost in thought. He shook his head and clipped his sunglasses to his shirt. "Okay, man. Whatever floats your boat. And yeah. I'm almost afraid to spar any of them. They're all pretty good fighters." He commented with just as much sarcasm. He watched Ryver as walked over to the daughter of Athena. "So, anyway. Up for dinner? I'm starved." The mischievous twinkle was back again. He had had enough of being serious for one day.

Of course dinner always sucked because he was the only one in his cabin he looked over at him "Rumor has it you have a sister coming to camp soon" He said punching his arm

Jacob snorted. "I doubt that'll happen anytime soon. She's pretty closed up right now." He groaned at the mention of feelings. "It's too difficult. I don't think she likes me, man." He shook his head, returning to the subject of food. Man, he was starving. He worked up an appetite just watching the sparring. It wasn't his forte. He was an archer, not a swordsman. He was clumsy with a dagger, too. He just stuck to what he knew best. He grinned when Elias mentioned his sister. "Oh, for Zeus's sake, would you please stop punching my shoulder?" He chuckled dramatically. "I'm ecstatic. Finally, someone to annoy people with poetry as much as I have." Naturally, there was a flow to his voice. Like he was free-versing a poem. He loved it.

Tae was still riding on the high of the fight, and seemed a little lighter and happier than usual. "Yes, it was, um, fun match; many matches do not last as long. You are good with the pen sword Riptide." She suddenly dipped into a quick bow, thanking Ryver for the match. She didn't seem to think anything of it, and didn't even really realize she had bowed, the action an ingrained habit left over from her competition days. Giving Elias a small frown as she passed him, she ultimately refrained from commenting, settling into step next to Jacob. "Everyone is very good at fighting. Swords are hard to use." She contributed, trying to be diplomatic, but even she peeked up at the mention of food; she had been training for hours now, and her stomach was growling in retribution.[/quote]

He laughed looking over at Jacob. "She may be clueless about your feelings for her, but if she didn't like you she would have already shot you with her crossbow. When you were away, Ryver was mad at me so I went to Tabitha's cabin for small talk and she shot me!" He said being as dramatic as ever. He rolled up his sleeve showing a tiny scar. But he was acting as if it was the end of the world. "She claims it was an accident. But she looks like one of those mean people in old country movies who'll shoot at someone for stepping on their lawn... I heard that's how it is down in Texas"

Ryver blushed at the compliment from Tae and bowed back in respect. "Thank you. You're a great fighter. It's nice to have someone to challenge me." She couldn't believe she had been complimented twice in one day by a daughter of Ares. She couldn't wait to go to the lake later tonight. She was hoping her dad would talk to her. She hadn't tried to reach out to him lately, but she knew he was always watching out for her and trying to comfort her through the water. She walked over and hooked her arm around Elias and Jacob's shoulders. "I will see you two goofballs at dinner. Don't get into trouble." With that, she walked out of the arena, twirling Riptide, still capped, in her hand.

"What in the Hades did you do to tick Ryver off?"Jacob laughed at the expense of his friend. He couldn't help it. He was just as dramatic as he was. When Elias rolled up his sleeve, he lost it, bending over and crying from laughing so hard. "All right, you big baby. Give me your arm." He touched his arm and the tiny scab was gone within a second. "You invaded her space. Plus, you were probably being annoying. You're lucky Chiron didn't catch you at her cabin. You know how he feels about people going into others' cabins." He looked over at Tae and smiled. "Yes, everybody is great. Swords are heavy, but if you learn to use them, they can be an asset. Now, let's go get some food." With that, he walked out of the arena.

lilou relaxed a little when tabitha smiled at her joke, that meant she hadn't gone to the point of no return yet so lilou still had time to calm her down and have her happy before she went to bed. then the girl took a deep breath and lilou tensed up again, the next thing on the list of things bothering tabitha was going to be revealed. the black haired girl wished she could just remove all this pain from her best friend, just leave her with happy memories and discard the negative ones but unfortunately even though she was a demigod, it wasn't how the world worked. there is always two sides to a coin, however life always levels out. regression to the mean. this kept lilou optimistic as whenever something went wrong she knew something good was just around the corner. hades' softie of a child looked down at tabitha's hand which was starting to heat and spark, much like the beginings of a fire. lilou's eyes then lifted to meet tabitha's and she could see the sheer fear the girl had due to her power before a tear fell. lilou gave her a gentle smile, lifting up her rather small hands and wiping off the tears. "shush shush, it't not your fault. you didn't do it intentionally, you couldn't control your abilities. you are not a freak! do not ever think that! and honey, i hate to say this but i think you need to face the fire to stop running and hiding, it'll only get worse if you continue to suppress it. but don't worry, i'll be with you every step of the way. i promise. pinky promise." lilou stuck out her pinky finger for tabitha to wrap hers around.

Tabitha sighed and tried her best to stop crying. She looked over at Lilou and a small smile formed on her face. "Thank you." She said and wrapped her pinky around hers. She stood up hearing the Dinner bell. "We should probably go to dinner before Chiron comes and drags us out of here" She said softly. She wiped under her eyes cleaning up some mascara. She was a hot mess. But thank god no one sat at her table since she didn't have any siblings yet. She hoped she never did. Not that she wouldn't enjoy the company but as selfish as it sounded, she would have a fit if anyone touched her inventions or used her tools. She gave Lilou a reassuring nod before they both had to separate and go to their designated cabin tables. It was a bit obvious she had been crying but all she had to do was avoid all eye contact and that was about it.
