After standing in line for nearly 10 minutes to grab what was left of the cafeteria's mystery lunch meat and a bread loaf, Damian sulked his way towards the tables. It wasn't often that he ate the cafeteria food at the school, or even sat in the cafeteria, but seeing as he had been late he couldn't go sit in his usual spot with some of his classmates or eat the packed lunch he usually made himself in the mornings.
Damian scanned the loud, busy, and rather large space the cafeteria tables occupied for any open tables, but found that all were filled. Spying a lone girl at one of them with an Australian shepherd beside her, he figured that would be his best option for a seat in the rather packed cafeteria and made his way over. He had never really spoken to this girl before, but he had seen her in the halls and in one of his classes.
Was it Violet? He wondered as he tried to remember her name from roll call. Valliance? He shrugged and gave up on the subject as he approached the table. "Do you mind if I sit with you?" he asked in a soft voice; standing on the opposite side of the round table from her and her dog. It was a silly question to ask seeing as she didn't seem to be waiting on anyone to join her, but he still wanted to be polite.
