inspired by pirates of caribbean: on stranger tides, this is a rp about two opposing groups of pirates, one male, one female, seeking the fountain of youth. also, lurking and hunting in the waters is a group of mermaids, who are as beautiful and dangerous as the fountain itself.

in order to unlock the powers of the fountain's waters, the two silver chalices of cartagena must be present. one must contain a mermaid's tear– obviously difficult and dangerous to come by. both cups are then filled with water from the fountain. whoever drinks the cup with the tear takes all the years of life from the individual who drinks from the second cup. the fountain's water alone has mild healing and restorative properties; enough to mend a scratch or bruise or ease fatigue and exhaustion but certainly not enough to allow one to live forever.

as this rp begins, each pirate crew is in possession of only one chalice, and neither has obtained the mermaid's tears necessary for the ritual.

"La Tombe du Soleil," originally part of the French armada before she was so graciously stolen by the father of the ship's current captain. she runs like the well-oiled machine that she is, and is fully equipped for battle, despite that ammunitions seem to be running low these days... her greatest enemy is that mermaids that stalk the ship's crew at all hours.

"The Revenge," a historic pirate vessel with a history in girl power. she's well known for her ability to hold her own in battle against much newer and more modern vessels. a smaller, older ship, with a daring, lively crew. this ship has made history before, and plans to do it again with the discovery of the fountain of youth.

these creatures are extraordinarily territorial, as well as aggressive and ruthless. they target men and rarely women who enter their territory, singing a siren's song to entrance the weak, who find themselves within reach of a mermaid's claws. the unfortunate victims are then pulled to the bottom of the ocean and drowned. at rest they are beautiful creatures, supermodels with fish-like tails. however, when on the hunt, their eyes become a ferocious yellow, their nails transform into jagged claws, and their teeth sharpen into fangs.

mermaids posses many magical qualities. their kiss can allow the recipient to breathe underwater indefinitely, and their tears are a necessity for the ritual at the fountain of youth.

There was a storm moving in from the North. She could see it bubbling and frothing on the horizon, black clouds flowing like liquid across the sky, growing ever nearer. She clung tightly to the rock that peeked out above the surface of the horizon, as the unusually rough waters left her fighting to stay afloat. For weeks, she’d had the feeling that something was coming. She’d wake up each morning and it would be stronger than it had been the night before. When she dreamed, she would see two ships on the horizon. The thought alone made her heart beat a little faster, and she shuddered involuntarily from head to tail.

She’d die before she saw another ship reach the island. Once they reached land, they always returned to sea, seeking mermaid’s tears… Fen sighed, turning away from her view of the storm and diving back down into the safety of the waters.

She settled against the sand, stretching out her muscles and staring up at the surface of the water. It looked so peaceful from beneath, despite the turmoil above. She sighed, bubbles lifting from her lips up to the surface. Of course, lounging around in the evening glow soon grew boring, and Fen headed for the beach, where the others could usually be found catching the last rays of sun before it slipped away for the night.

“That storm is gonna hit hard,” she grumbled as she hoisted herself up onto a rock and leaned back on her elbows, facing the setting sun. She’d seen a few other tails from below the water, but she hadn’t looked over to see who she was speaking with. Not that it mattered, the truth stayed the same no matter who you told it to, that’s how you knew it was the truth.

Florentine hid her chocolate-hued curls under a pink cloak as she ducked into the nearest Pharmacy she could find to the port. She clutched a hand-written list of necessary supplies in her hand, barely legible after it’d been splashed with sea water one too many times. Still, it would have to do. It would take her half an hour to name off all of the supplies The Revenge was running low on. You’d think after the third or fourth row of stitches the crew and its captain would learn to be a little more careful, but Ren knew that was far from the case.

If anything, the women seemed to get hurt more as time went on. Between Ketsy’s fearlessness, Iseabail’s stubbornness, and the captain’s bold resilience, Florentine had her work cut out for her. Rope burns and minor cuts or lacerations sometimes gave way to gunshot wounds and broken bones, and the poor medic could never anticipate what was coming.

So, she needed to be prepared for anything. She handed the list to the bespectacled man behind the counter. She tried to hide her French accent as much as possible, but she wasn’t sure she was doing very well. “Hello sir,” she said, “I’m in need of some medical supplies.” She handed him the list, and he quickly gathered the items for her. She stashed them in a messenger bag on her hip, and handed over the allowance Katherine had given her in exchange.

As quickly as she arrived, she left, heading for the docks. She held her bag close, aware of the colorful characters that often occupied the shadowy spaces near the sea. At sea, she was a woman, as powerful and worthy as anyone else, but here on land she was no more than a scared little girl. She heard voices mumbling behind her, followed by footsteps. She whirled around to see two men headed her direction. With a gasp, she took off running down toward the sea where The Revenge was temporarily docked. She was extremely light on her feet, and she felt confident that she wasn’t being gained on, but she was too afraid to turn around and see. She didn’t slow down until she was safely onboard the ship, where she had friends who were armed. Speaking of…

“Captain!” She called, breathless. “I have everything we need. Let’s please put this awful place far, far behind us.”

Katherine, whirled around to face the breathless scared medic
as she called out captain. Furrowing her brow she stepped closer placing
a thin finger under the girls chin and bringing her gaze to meet hers. "child,
tell me what frightened you so bad, and i may consider leaving" she stated
before removing her finger from the girls chin and climbing up the ladder to see
if any british soldiers had found out they were here, huffing as she saw two red coats
approaching the boat, she jumped off the ladder landing with her boots making a loud
'thud' on the wood off the boat. "Hoist the sails!....now!" she demanded pulling out
her trusty pistol from the holster on her leg.

It appears that the revenge would be sailing off to sea sooner then planned,
especially with the brits on their tail. Walking into her victorian decorated cabin
aboard the ship, katherine rummaged through her desk drawers trying to find something
useful. Instead finding an old map, with rubbish of possible locations of the fountain of
youth.
