Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. The annoying reminder that she did, in fact, have to eventually wake up from her far-too-comfortable slumber embodied itself in a light orange alarm clock conveniently placed atop her dresser on the opposite side of her room. Although she had stationed it there on purpose, every morning she cursed and grumbled as if the placement of said object was nothing more than a horrible mistake. Groaning both inwardly and out, the girl attempted to untangle herself from messy sheets, only to hit the floor hard, even more entwined than before. It wasn't fair, she thought. Why did morning have to come so early every day? No matter how illogical the idea was, irritation made all the sense to Kiera in her lethargic state of mind. Pushing off the floor with her palms pressed to the ground, she stumbled her way over and slapped her hand firmly against the cheap plastic, finally ending its reign of annoyance.
She had always been much more of a night person, but every morning she still ended up regretting staying up so late the night before. Glancing at the time on the clock, she saw that it read 2:00 PM. Another exasperated sigh. The only reason she really even set the alarm was to force herself from her slumber, otherwise, she would never leave the comfort of her bed. In days long ago, Kiera remembered how early she and Kieran would wake up. They had shared a room when they were little, and often had the habit of climbing into the other's bed even though they each had one of their own. After they had entered high school and moved to their uncle's house, they finally had two separate rooms. The once inseparable pair were now more distant. It couldn't be helped, what, with all that they had been through these past three years. She thought back to the accident and shuddered. They had almost lost everything in that one, single moment. Their parents, their home... even her brother had lost sight in one of his eyes. It wasn't fair, but they had endured anyways. Nowadays, the only reminders of the accident were Kieran's limp and the growing quiet of the house. Speaking of her brother, Kieran was no better at waking than she was.
As if she could simply wipe the sleep from her eyes, she dug her knuckles at the corners of her eye sockets until the blurriness faded from her vision. She glanced around her messy room to identify one of her favorite grey graphic tee-shirts and dodged piles of various objects to pluck it from its spot. She stripped off her night shirt and tugged the new one on, and also exchanged out her pajama pants for skinny jeans before finally exiting the room. She crossed the hall and entered the room opposite to hers without knocking, and found her twin still sound asleep in bed.
"C'mon Kieran, you can't sleep in all day," she urged as she gently shook him awake. She wasn't much to talk, but her brother's sleeping habit was worse than her own. He could oftentimes be found sleeping in the most random of places, whether it was at school, or at the park even. The habit sort of appeared after the accident, so she always assumed his lethargy was because recovery had exhausted him. But that was three years ago, and now he had no excuse. She shook him again, until his chocolate irises were finally staring back at her. "Come on, get up. I'm heading out soon, but you shouldn't just sleep the day away." He said nothing in response, but now that he was finally conscious, she had no further need to bother him. She turned around to leave the room and tossed a "bye" over her shoulder before heading to the bathroom. After completing her morning routine of washing up and brushing her teeth, she grabbed her phone and her wallet and headed out of the house.
It was pleasantly warm outside. The start of summer vacation had seemed to have just begun, yet she was absolutely certain all of the high schoolers were doing nothing but relaxing so far. She toyed with her phone, debating on whether or not she should text any of her friends, but she decided that maybe she just wanted to wake up and relax on her own at first. Before she knew where she was even going, her feet had already carried her to the beach. Her uncle's house was closer to it than most, so the walk was only a little over five minutes away. But seeing as she didn't bring a swimsuit, she just settled for walking along the shore. One of her favorite things to do was to slip off her sandals and just let the sun-warmed ocean wash over her bare feet as her toes sunk into the sand. And today, she planned to do just that. She started walking along the shore, occasionally avoiding families of children when need be,, and was perfectly content in her own company for a rare moment. Just when she was starting to feel a little lonely, she pulled out her phone to text someone, when none other than her best friend, Alex, appeared walking out of one of the various changing areas.
"Hey Alex!" She called out to him, smiling wide and waving. Right now, the two were the best of friends, but mostly because they enjoyed teasing each other so much. She may have had started a little crush on him, but she would never admit that to anyone.

summer huffed, feeling kind of exhausted from her fit of rage. she rolled her eyes, feeling aggravated at just the thought of him. "seriously, who does he think he is?" the girl mumbled, rolling her eyes for what felt like the twentieth time today. she sighed, stopping and leaning against a wall on the side of her house. she wanted to go inside, she really did, but she knew she probably wouldn't come out. the only thought on her mind besides the arrogant hot head of a boy was the fact that he watched her do those things. and he did them too! but, with heat? she was puzzled, frustrated, and hungry. but when was she not hungry? she sighed, giving in and walking up the steps to her house.
"hey sweetie!" summer's mom greeted from the kitchen, the smell of deli sandwiches and coffee filling the air. "we're having a meeting tonight for all of the people with powers." her voice was quiet, not wanting her brother to hear. "i'm gonna need you to get your brother occupied with something while all of us meet here. do you think you can do that?"
summer thought for a moment, and nodded before speaking. "only if you give me a sandwich." a sly and fake smile was plastered on her face as her mom gave in.

"if you were to write a story with me in the lead role,
it would certainly be... a tragedy."
The male stopped upon hearing his name. He looked around for a moment, olive green eyes shifting and scanning over the area. He spotted his best friend running towards him. He gave a rather evil smirk and took off in the other direction. See, Alex had a natural talent for running on sand without his feet sinking in too bad, so he was able to get some distance before slowing to a pace where she could catch up. He loved these kind of games, mostly because he usually won them.
"Catch me if you can!" The male called, stopping and turning around to taunt to the female. He grinned happily, clapping his hands together. Once she was closer, he ran towards the water. The shirtless male could swim since he had his board shorts, she, however, only seemed to have regular clothes.

summer walked down the sidewalk, thinking about things while finishing her sandwich. the first thing on her mind was, of course, the boy from the coffee shop. as much of an arrogant person he was, the guy was quite intriguing. she wondered if she would see him tonight, and if she did, what would she say? the other thing she was thinking about was school coming up in a week. she was nervous. summer wasn't one with many close friends, seeing as she never let anyone get close enough to her. she brushed her thoughts away, pushing some of her platinum locks out of her face and squinting as the sun shined in her eyes.

ambrose walked down the sidewalk towards the ice cream parlor. he knew it was the last week of summer and wanted to spend it doing the same things he did the first week that they got out for break. first stop would be to get french fries and ice cream, something he used to always do with his mom before summer came around.
don't get ambrose wrong, he loved her and they were best friends, but ever since then his mom hadn't been as close to him. it was like they were hiding something. but, like ambrose, he didn't really think much of it. he just brushed it off and walked into the ice cream shop, ready to get his usual double scoop of mint chocolate chip deliciousness.

Tristan was nearing the grocery store when some thing hit him in the back. He made a small grunting noise, as the bump did catch him off guard, but it wasn't a really hard hit. The tall brunet turned around to see a dark haired girl, who was apologizing. Tristan just waved his hand, "No need to apologize, it happens." He said with a small smile. He had thought about making it seem like he was hurt, but he really just didn't feel like it right now. On another not, the girl did seem a little familiar to him. "I seem to be bumping into a lot of people today," this he said quietly, and more so to himself than to the girl. She seemed nice though.

Tabitha was a little baffled. Chase seemed like such an interesting person, but her personality seemed to shift quickly. She felt a little belittled by the way Chase had said congrats on her Chem exam grade. However, she tried not to let it bother her. One thing about Tabitha, was that she was insecure about nearly everything she did. However, when Chase said her goodbye, Tabitha couldn't help but give a small smile and added, "Yeah, see ya." Even if Chase was a little hard to figure out, Tabitha wasn't going to let that get in the way. After all, they'd only just really, sort of, met. There could be a lot more to Chase, so she decided to not try to make an assumptions or opinions about her just yet. With that, Tabitha went on her way as well. She didn't really feel like getting coffee any more, so instead she just decided to go for a walk. She didn't have to work today, so she didn't have to worry about being any where, until later.
((nahh, you're good @new york city ;; I had super awful writer's block in my last post for Tabby))

He smirked, standing in the water that was now up to his knees. "Hmm... donut..." He mumbled with a grin, then shaking his head and looking to her with a shrug. "Maybe because when it is school, I'm at home sleeping!" He laughed, rubbing the back of his head and messing up his hair slightly with a coy grin. He pondered for a moment, if he could ruin her day but dumping her in the ocean. As he thought, a grin grew on his face and he started towards her.
"Since I haven't seen you in ages, how about a hug? Since I ran and all before we could greet each other." Alex gave her an innocent grin, flashing his signature smile as he came to the sand, standing in front of the female after running a hand through his hair.

ambrose softly smiled, waving and heading over to sit with adrian. "is this seat taken?" he questioned, motioning to the open chair.
him and adrian weren't very close, but in the last year they had a couple of classes and worked on some group projects together. he thought she was very beautiful, but he wasn't looking for a serious relationship at the moment. he just wanted something fun, considering summer was almost over.
sorry it's short i didn't know what to put ;-;
