This Times New Roman is going to fly from my fingertips like a plague of moths. The hollow black letter shells crunched into the ground like the skin of a cicada. This is all that's left, and you can do whatever you want with it. Keep it to yourself or let it serve as a warning.
This city is disgusting; a corpse of what it used to be. The people are filthy, gluttonous- ruled by the power exchange of pleasure from the hands of the proletariat to the bourgeoisie. The tops of the skylines buzz with the lacklustre enthusiasm. The ground level is caked in dirt and rust and grime, And the people that dwell there wake and rub the filmy layer off their lukewarm eyes.
There are some here I love. Some who fear me. And some who wish I was dead.
I didn't ask for this. No one asks for this. You're born into it. You grow up oblivious and sheltered.
And one day the evil realities of this place hit you square between the eyes like a perfectly aimed bullet.
If this were a movie, I would ride off in some blood red sunset down a stretch of desert road into the wasteland that keeps us captive here. But this isn't a movie.

These are the Badlands.

Stories. For as long as I can remember, that's all we ever really had in the Badlands. Stories of our past, where we came from, and stories about where we would go. I don't know who started it all, but I would have liked to plant a bullet in their skull. Call it revenge for the noose of naivete they allowed to be slipped around a child's neck- for allowing us to believe there was ever any real hope.

The Badlands is a wasteland conglomerate of a city. A reeking cesspool of sin and starvation, pleasure and pain, that houses the remaining outliers of the human race after most of them were wiped out- by war, sickness, or pollution. Located in the middle of a sprawling desert, it's overrun by drug lords and thieves, clambering their way to a better life, trying desperately to save themselves- just like everyone else. But do not let the appearance of anarchy fool you. There are great power holders, the ones that hide away in the tops of their buildings, safe from the desert air and hellish existence of the ground, enforcing the rules to govern the civilians like some distant, cruel god. Everyone does what they can to make it by. Some are just luckier than others.
This rp follows six young delinquents. Imprisoned for various serious crimes against the system, they are outcasts and rejects among their own twisted people. One day, a bomb goes off outside of the prison, destroying their holding cells and freeing them into the Badlands they called home. Wanted by the law enforcement, hated by their fellow citizens, and fearing for their lives, the six of them head for the desert wasteland that encircles the city. They band together, hoping by some miracle that they'll survive out there. They all know the story. The rumors of a lush, beautiful forest beyond the sand where more survivors are thriving and hope for the human race isn't just a wishful thought. They have no proof it's out there, but it's their only chance to make it out alive. They survive the desert, and the stories of The Wild were true- it exists, and people are surviving there. But it's not the paradise anyone believed it to be. The six have to trust one another, stick together, and try to navigate this new land filled with new hope, new threats, and new challenges they could have never imagined.
