Luke stood on his stoop shivering from both the chilling brisk air and the fear that coursed through every fiber of his body. A crumpled up piece of paper is clenched between his hands, he couldn't leave the note. Luke re-wrote this note over and over again but couldn't seem to produce the correct words to express his true feelings. In the end, he decided it would be best to leave nothing at all rather than leave something sub par.

Luke went to take a step and felt a pit in his stomach.

What am I doing? this is pointless...

The eighteen year old thought to himself, thinking of heading back inside.

No..I-I have to do this

Luke started to jog before he changed his mind. The blood rushed to his head. A sense of euphoric freedom filled his soul but it didn't quite mask the doubt he had bottling up inside.

Finally he made it to the Park. Out of breath and panting he squinted through his glasses and could make out three figures in from of him. All of their faces were familiar, especially Talon's. Luke was both surprised and not shocked at Taon's arrival. Luke knew him to be someone who would take off but as far as Luke knew he always had it pretty good, was relatively popular (as far as he could tell). Caspian was definitely a familiar face. Luke knew him as kind of a loner but something has always interested Luke about Caspian. Luke was shocked to see him there. He was also pretty sure he had seen the girl here and there. He couldn't recall her name but it's possible they shared a class at one point or another?

Still slightly out of breath Luke gives everyone a small wave and looks back at his feet. Suddenly he hears a noise, a rustling from a bush, most likely a small woodland animal but who knows in the dark?

Luke jumped startled by the noise falling back.

His face turned tomato red with embarrassment as he got up and waited for the rest of the bunch.

As hard as Hayden tried she still couldn't keep her family out of her mind. Even with the music singing melodies into her ears, supposed to be distracting her, she couldn't keep thier saddened faces from creeping into her mind. Hayden's mind flickered to the note she had left sitting on the kitchen counter, right by the coffee machine. Her father might miss it, but her mother would see it right away as if she had been looking for it. She would see Hayden's, usually neat and rounded, messy writing on a small white piece of paper. When Hayden has wrote the note her hand had been shaking madly, she had left the house before a tear dropped onto the note.

Now she sat, phone in hand, clutching it as if it was her life and if she let go she would be letting go of her life. Hayden almost jumped when a shape stepped in front of her and sat down beside her on the old, wooden bench. She looked over from the corner of her eye and spotted Talon. Hayden felt a rush of relief, even though she dreaded leaving her family she just couldn't stay here any longer. And now, with the person who would be bringing the camper, sitting beside her it felt suddenly real... And the crazy thing was that she wasn't afraid. Hayden instinctively reached up and pulled her earbuds our slowly, just in time to hear Talon offer her a quick greeting before he began to eat a fry. She quickly turned off the music and laid her phone, with the earbuds wrapped around the center, down on her lap. Hayden swallowed the lump in her throat and, once more, pushed her family to the back of her mind, "Yeah," she said, pressing her mouth into a straight line as her voice came out weak and strained. Hayden quickly cleared her throat and shifted slightly, "Um, and you're Talon, right?" she asked, suddenly uncertain.

Hayden watched Talon as she waited for his answer. While she did, the dark-haired girl spotted a shape appear from the shadows and she instantly recognized him as Caspian. A quiet one, he was. Hayden was always mildly curious about him, but she never talked to him before. She watched him now as he came up, his face flushed, she blantantly wondered if he had been running. From what? Or who? she thought as he offered the two sitting on the bench a quiet greeting before sitting down on the ground a few feet away. She looked away then, back to Talon. She was slightly aware of someone else showing up, but they didn't say anything, so she didn't pay any attention to them.

he watched as she pulled her earbuds out in order to hear him, during that time talon was eating the fries out of the bag without a care in the word. when she spoke, he nodded his head at first. "yeah. it's talon." he said in response. she seemed uncertain and he couldn't blame her, after all they didn't really know each other, almost complete strangers. he stopped eating when he spotted someone else approaching, seemed to be the guy called caspian. he gave the other teenager a slight lift of his chin in greeting before something else drew his attention. it seemed to be luke, someone he knew quite well. talon's stood up and stretched his arms before he headed towards the boy.

"dude chill. don't tell me I'm going to have to hold your hand in the dark luke." he said as he clasped the boy's shoulder with his hand, in a way trying to get him to relax. "I don't want to see worry lines etched in that pretty little face of your's." he added with a smile as he motioned towards the bench where Hayden was sitting along with caspian not far off. "you eat before you left?" he questioned him as he removed his hand and then began to walk back towards the bench, hands in his pockets. not many people knew the relationship between himself and luke, most ended up surprised that they were pretty much best friends. it wasn't that they were trying to hide it, most of the time school kept them apart. outside of school was a different story. he liked spending time with him and most importantly he knew he could trust luke, having know him for quite some time seeing as their parents worked together.

Caspian returned Luke's gesture, lifting his hand and giving him a brief wave before lowering it once more. He had seen Luke before and had always found him to be quite friendly, however, they were not close. In fact, they had barely ever even spoken to each other as far as Caspian could recall. Perhaps it would be better that way anyway; Caspian would hate to find even one of the people with the nicest reputations would turn him away. Not that Caspian had ever tried that hard to make friends before of course, but it would still hurt a bit. Better to not try at all.

Caspian's gaze had wandered away from the group of arriving people, instead focussing out into the deep dark forest that surrounded the park. Small noises could be heard echoing from within, probably cause by a squirrel or some other small animal. Suddenly a movement caught the corner of Caspian's eye, causing his head to snap back towards the other three teens. He only saw the last half of Luke's descent to the ground, but he understood well enough what had happened after Talon swooped in and tried to get Luke to relax.

Caspian accepted Luke reaction, though he was a bit surprised the man was that jumpy. It was only a small animal out there, it wasn't a threat or anything. Caspian shrugged it off though, by far the more interesting thing was the exchange between Luke and Talon. He never would has suspected that the two were so close. They didn't seem like they would be the type to form such a strong bond between each other. However, it wasn't really Caspian's place to question what friendships other people had made. That was their business. As long as they stayed out of is way and just started to get the move on out of this town, he didn't care what the others were doing.

Luke couldn't help but grin as he saw Talon walking over to help him up. Talon helped center Luke out in times where he has extreme anxiety such as today. As a matter of fact, if Luke didn't see Talon there he might have turned back and forgotten everything. At least Luke knew there was someone he could count on.

"Oh shush" Luke replied to Talon's remark about the dark. He rolled his eyes still fighting the temporary grin on his face. Luke's already embarrassed face turns even a darker shade of red when Talon pats him and talks about his face.

Luke looked over to see Caspian looking at him and realized that people were probably shocked to see the two together. After all, they are a very unlikely team.

"Um not really, I've been so worried, I don't have much of an appetite." Luke admits walking over to the bench along side his friend. Luke sighed slowly remembering how nervous he was to be standing in that Park. What was he thinking? His mom could have already noticed he fled and called the police. Luke started getting in his head again. His temporary smile slowly faded as he became lost in his thoughts.

Hayden watched as Talon jumped up and walked over to Luke. Her eyes narrowed in confusion as they shared a laugh. She didn't know they were friends, it seemed very unlikely as well, they seemed to be such opposites. Hayden watched Talon gesture towards the bench and she looked away when they began walking over. Then she stood up abruptly and tucked her phone away into her back pocket, she didn't want to be the third wheel with Luke and Talon. So, she took a breath in and looked around to see if anyone new would show up soon, she was itching to leave. It seemed quite odd to Hayden that at one point she had been terrified to go and now all she wanted to do was leave this place behind. But even as she thought of leaving a stab of pain pierced her heart. Not knowing exactly what to do or where to go, she took a few hesitant steps towards the only other person at the park so far... Caspian.

Hayden continued with her her small step until she was a few feet away from the quiet boy who was sitting down on the curb. She shifted her feet slightly as she offered him a quick greeting, "Hey, your name is Caspian, right?" she asked, even though she was already aware of his name. To be honest Hayden didn't expect an answer and in fact she'd be quite surprised if he even managed a small nod or wave in her direction. From what she knew Caspian was quiet, she wasn't actually sure if she had even heard his voice besides from when he had showed up. Hayden stayed standing, not wanting to get in his personal space by sitting down beside him. She knew that she didn't like it when someone got all up in her personal space.

Caspian looked up, surprised to find that someone had approached him. It was...Hayden? He was pretty sure that was her name. He looked her over quickly, appreciative of the fact that she didn't just invade his personal space. He hated when people did that, not that it happened often.

"Yeah, I'm Caspian," He said, a bit uncertain at first just because he was not expecting to be approached by the girl. He regained his composure quickly though. "You're Hayden, right?" He wasn't just going to completely shut her off. He wasn't like that. He just wasn't keen on starting and/or having the conversation. Still, if someone came up to him like Hayden did her wasn't just going to block them out. h=He didn't really know how to further the conversation from this point (nor did he really want to), so he decided to just let Hayden say whatever she was going to.

Caspian looked up at her, giving her his attention. After all, he didn't want to make enemies before the trip had even started, right? He could at least afford to give her the nicety of looking at her during this forced conversation.

it seemed that luke was starting to calm down though talon didn't know for sure if his words had worked their magic. usually when they did it wouldn't last long. picking up the bag of food he had, he pulled out a chicken sandwich and placed it in his hands. "direct your thoughts on eating, not worrying." he said as he began to see luke's smile fade. talon was not going to have his friend worried most of the trip if he could help it. he motioned for him to sit down as hayden left the bench to go speak with caspian. where in the world was everyone, were they that caught up with stuff they couldn't get here? or did they chicken out. shaking his head at his thoughts, talon offered luke a small smile before he himself sat down.

he took out his phone and went through the apps, looking for a decent game to play to pass the time. he had another sandwich in the bag but at the moment he wasn't that hungry anymore. deciding to go with piano tiles, he opened the app and began to play, muting his phone as he didn't have any earbuds with him. he didn't need the music anyway. every now and then he would glance to see if luke had taken his advice and focused on eating rather than worrying over the what ifs and if this was a good idea.

Luke nodded taking the sandwich and slowly nibbling at it. The boy took a seat on the bench where talon motioned. It was only then when he realized ho hungry he actually was. He started taking bigger bites until the entire thing was gone.

"Oh sorry" Luke said feeling bad he ate the entire thing. I didn't realize how hungry I was. Luke started to feel his anxiety fade once again. It was just like a normal day, sitting next to talon. Luke leaned over to watch what talon was playing.


Luke sees those familiar black and white tiles moving across the screen and grin, remembering he was the one who recommend you download them game."Oh piano tiles, what's your new high score?" Luke asks pulling out his phone to check his. He noticed the time and it was already an hour since he has arrived.

Luke glances over at hayden and caspian realizing only four of them had actually shown up to the park.

He stood up looking down the path to see if anyone else was arriving.

"Where is everyone else?" Luke asks to talon but loud enough so that the other three all could hear and answer.

Alex hit the breaks rapidly fast, her head bumped again the seat and bounced back. Taylor Swift was jamming in the background, but her ears felt a vibration. She was just testing out the new car her dad bought her, painted a nice bronze. Anybody could tell that it was old, but very valuable and expensive and her dad buying it was as simple as a breeze. She placed her two hands on the steering wheel hesitantly, she pushed the breaks a little too late than expected. Alex knew she was late for this friend hang out, most of the people there hung out with her before but some she just knew but never got to talk to them. Alex's eyes turned to her purse, some lip gloss wouldn't hurt before the light turns green. She zips open her leopard print purse, fidgeting things with her hands until she finds this transparent lip gloss, perfect to add a little shine to her lips. She pushed her hair behind her ear and tilted the car mirror so it faces her, applying the lip gloss smoothly. Then behind her she heard several beeps, looking behind then front she gasped quietly, "great! The green light comes now. Fine, alright". Alex begins to move her car again as she makes a left turn, hitting a dusty curb which is the entrance to the park.

Alex made her way to the parking lot, driving slowly now as she squinted her eyes to find a good spot. This park wasn't that popular nor abandoned as a grave, so she understood why it would be a good meet and greet spot. But she knew that it wasn't all about chatting and then leaving in an hour or so, she knew that they were going somewhere. Nobody knew where, but that's what made it extra exciting. She finally parked her car, she gets out and closes the door as she clicks a button to lock the car. Then walks towards the place in the park where everyone was supposed to meet. Finally, she saw a group of people just chilling on a bench and some eating. Alex also saw some of them on their phones, so she decided it was time to introduce herself. "Sorry I was late! Traffic and stuff," she smiled awkwardly.
