Another girl emerged from the bushes. She introduced herself as Alexia in a fairly friendly manner. That was a pretty name. Alexia asked if we knew how we got here. Perfect! Another kid who's woken up lost in a forest. Alyx responded to her question, but had gone sheet white and stuttered his words. Poor guy. He must be really shy. I tried to move the attention off him by interjecting. "I'm Sam, and I have a question for you, actually. What do you think you're doing, jumping us in the middle of the woods? And how did you get that bird to do what you say? I'm not pleased at having my face almost torn off, but that is pretty cool…" I was getting off topic. What I really needed to know was where we were, how we got here, and what Alexia's violent, strangely dressed friend's problem was. "In addition, why are you dressed like a Viking?" I directed this question at the girl who was glaring unrelentingly at us. "Are you one of those people that recreates historical stuff?" I asked. That would explain the outfit, and maybe her willingness to attack us. Maybe we'd been kidnapped and forced to participate in a battle between the Vikings and… teenagers from the US, apparently? While I was waiting for an answer I looked sideways at Alyx. You okay? I mouthed.

At the sound of the man's bellowing voice she slowly stepped out from behind the tree that was previously concealing her. Her hands were raised to show that she had no weapons and she meant no harm. She was still shivering and she fought hard to keep her teeth from chattering as she spoke, "I d-don't have any weapons. I'm just a b-bit lost." Her breath came out in white steam and her voice was soft, yet loud enough to be heard easily. He had been hunting deer, that much was obvious. Was she in a hunting area? If so she was extremely grateful she hadn't been shot on accident. That might also explain the way he was dressed, but his voice was very strange. A bit gruff and using an older pattern of speech. Once he seemed to relax a tiny bit she asked, "Can you tell me where I am? And perhaps where I can rest for a bit? It's awfully cold and I would rather not get caught in the storm." She looked up at the darkening sky once more and brushed some of her hair away from her face as the wind played with it. She would probably braid it later. She looked back at the stranger and his horse. The horse seemed less hostile around once she showed herself. Animals were usually comforted by her quiet and gentle presence.

Piercing blue eyes followed the figure as they emerged, his grip on his bow tightened as he took aim. It was a woman, strange clothing covered her. It was brightly coloured and not made of pelts or fur, the fabric seemed thin and unsuitable for this time of year. It was clear to Halvar that she was not one of his kind, unarmed, unprepared and lost. It was almost amusing.
Tentatively he lowered his bow and placed the arrow back in its quiver in one swift motion, he reattached the bow to the clasp on the saddle and held his hand over his axe, tied on his belt, as a precaution. She spoke, he understood her but her voice also confused him greatly, her tone was light and it did not originate from these lands. Was this an invasion? His brows knitted together as he looked her up and down, maybe she was from the far east, they hadnt raided those lands for a few springs now and some things could've changed. This new woman worried him.
"You are in the lands of Jarl Gongus" he answered stiffly, raising a brow when she mentioned the storm. He looked up, hands resting on his belt, it was getting darker and the sea was beginning to boil, Thor was about to strike his hammer.
"The town of Skalavik is that way, but you are strange and I do not know whether to take you as a prisoner or not" he proclaimed, his mind told him to tie her to Ymir and see what the Seer would say about her and then maybe the Jarl and the people. On the other hand he also wanted to help her, she seemed younger than him but he did not feel like he could trust her. Maybe she was a witch. He tensed and turned to his saddle, reaching into one of the bags and producing some rope "The seer will ask the gods for your fate" he exclaimed, taking a few steps towards her, still nervous but still determined "Hold out your hands" she couldnt fight back, she was unarmed and if she ran he'd look for her body in the morning, to him she clearly had no idea how to survive out here.

Kay stumbled out of the forest and onto the beach, breathing heavily, resting her hands on her knees. She hadn't walked that much since Philmont, and it definitely showed. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd felt this out of breath. Which was quickly going to become a problem if what the lady was saying was true, because there weren't going to be any cars. Kay still didn't see how it was possible that she was not only transported several thousand miles away, to what she assumed was one of those norther European countries she was always getting mixed up, but almost two thousand years back in time as well. It completely defied the laws of temporal physics as mankind currently understood it. She'd need to find a way to secure some writing utensils, make a journal, maybe leave it somewhere for someone to find. Keeping it with her would just be silly, there was no way she could see of getting back to her time, and besides, she obviously didn't have it with her when she died, or it would've been found when this place was made an archaeological site. If it was made an archaeological site. "Well, in that case," Kay said, her mind working to find a way to explain where she came from in a way that would make sense to people who still thought that paper was a pretty rad idea, "I guess I can try to tell you where I came from. It'll sound a little weird, though, so just bear with me for a bit." She would have to leave out the time travel entirely, going into things like general relativity with what she assumed was a viking warrior was just asking for trouble. She felt like God trying to explain the creation of the world to whatever poor sap wrote the book of Genesis. Pressing her hands together and popping her wrists, Kay took a deep breath and began her story. " I come from a land far across the sea, one that cannot be reached by any ship. It is a land covered in sand, where the sun shines hot enough to cook meat on the ground. My people are a race of powerful..."She paused a moment, searching for a first-century way to describe the people of the information age, "Wizards, I guess, I forget if you guys have those in your culture, and we've bent the land beneath our feet to our will. We ride horses of steel, driven by lightning, and fly all around the world in gigantic metal birds. We can turn night into day at a whim, and our cities shine so brightly they blot out the very stars themselves." A bit flowery, but it should provide a reasonable picture of what 2016 looked like. At least, as reasonable as it possibly could be, what with the massive disconnect in technologies between them. Heck, maybe the scary viking lady would be impressed.

Ragna turned and looked at Kay, unable to keep the slight smile from appearing on her face. She was obviously out of breath, and probably far from used to walking that far. Ragna hadn't even realized it was that far away...of course she walked much farther than that most every day. When Kay caught her breath and started to explain, Ragna's frown grew more and more. What she was saying made absolutely no sense, unless she was some sort of God...which seemed highly unlikely. And what did she mean by wizards?? Was she a witch? Perhaps she was lying, or maybe she was just plain mad. "You speak of things that cannot be outside of the power of the gods..." Ragna thought of accusing her of blasphemy, but simply waved her hand and squeezed the bridge of her nose. Perhaps madness was the cause, either way Ragna still needed to take her somewhere that could hold her for now. "You're mad..." Ragna mumbled under her breath with a shake of her head. "Come, we are nearly there." She said as she gestured for Kay to follow. they were already coming apon her house, it wasn't far to the center of town. She actually hadn't thought of what she was going to do when she got here...it was probably be best if she kept Kay's presence a relative secret. She wondered if her uncle would know what to do, though he was far away and they weren't very close on a relationship level. The Jarl in Skalavik would want and need to know of her presence, but perhaps she needed to be kept hidden in Ragna's small stable. It would have been far easier to kill her, but she needed to know more about this girl. Especially if she or the people she spoke of were potential invaders. Maybe that is why she made them seem so impossible.

Well, she hadn't believed her, but on the whole Kay's story had gone over better than she expected. She wasn't about to get burned at the stake, anyway. If she'd known more about Norse history, Kay might've tried to prove her statement by saying things no outsider could possibly know, but she didn't. Her focus was always more on the countries on the other side of the world. Still, there was one way to prove to the viking that her story was true. Well, not true, per se, but at least that she wasn't crazy. "I guess it's only fair you wouldn't believe me," she said, digging her phone out of her pocket again, "I probably wouldn't believe me either, if I were you. I do have proof, though, if you're into that sort of thing." Pressing her thumb to the screen to unlock the phone, Kay turned the bright backlit screen, fortunately still visible in the soft morning sunlight, towards the viking, and said "With this box, I can speak to anyone at any time, no matter how far away they are." Of course, she couldn't now, there wasn't any signal, but she wasn't about to get into how cell phones worked. "I can also access a vast library, full of all the knowledge of my people, your people, and countless others, and I can summon singers and dancers to perform for me, and even create magical paintings that can move and speak just like you and I. Here, I'll show you." In spite of herself, Kay was starting to get excited. Here before her was an opportunity most archaeologists could only dream of; the ability to go back in time, and see how their ancestors really lived. She wasn't worried about changing the future, anything she did would have already been done in her timeline, assuming a linear relationship of time and causality, so she could just go nuts here. Maybe she could even get herself set up as some sort of goddess. Kay, the goddess of magic. It had a nice ring to it. Shame nobody had found out about it yet. Turning the phone back towards herself, Kay quickly accessed her music library, selecting a song at random, and quickly becoming embarrassed as the opening bars of "Caramelldansen" blared through the speakers. She'd put the song on there when she was much younger, and had never bothered to take it off. A choice she was now regretting. The viking lady probably wouldn't judge her for it, she didn't even know what the song was, but still.

      Lucia Nightingale
The woman listened to his words carefully, still not letting her guard down. Her brows knit together in a puzzled way as she didn't recognize the name of the town, nor the person she guessed owned the property. When he mentioned taking her prisoner her eyes widened in both fear and confusion. Is he crazy? She thought. Another wave of shock hit her as he mentioned a seer and 'the gods'. The only people she had ever known to be polytheists were Hindus, and he certainly didn't look like one. She was sincerely regretting her decision as he pulled some rope out of one of his saddlebags. Time seemed to slow down as her thoughts sped up to a million a minute. Fight or Flight. She couldn't beat him, but if she ran she would be alone in the woods again with a madman on her trails. Deciding with horror that her only option would be a combination of both, she sent up a silent prayer to God before grabbing a tree branch she had left at her foot, swinging it hard at his jaw, and ducking under his arms. She sprinted over to his horse, by now greatly startled, and fumbled around a bit unclasping the bow from the saddle. Grabbing a single arrow, she knocked it in place and drew it back like she was in archery class and stepped a few feet away from him and the animal. It was much harder to pull than her own bow, and she wasn't used to not wearing gloves, but she would grit and bear it for now until she could guarantee her safety. A bit out of breath from the adrenaline and dodging the horse's antics, she pointed the tip of the arrow at the stranger and threatened, "I'm not going anywhere if you're going to tie me up. I've taken archery and I know I can hit my mark, plus, I'm small but I'm fast. So I think I can dodge whatever you try to throw at me." She glanced at the ax he was previously fingering. "Listen, I don't want any trouble, I just want to get out of here and back home as soon as possible. Neither of us have any reason to trust each other, so if you don't like the idea of leading me back cooperatively I can just take this bow and run, or if you try and attack me again I'll send you down into the flames." Of course she wouldn't actually kill him, she could never. But he didn't know that, and if she needed to she would just wound him enough to get away. Her face was firm and set with her eyes glaring straight at his, their colors dancing as the first flash of lightning streaked across the sky. For the first time in her life she actually prayed she would look intimidating, eerie, supernatural; anything that would get this man to cooperate.

Destin Alfsson
Destin had woken up early, as was his ritual, to milk the family cow. After that he started his chores around the house and snuck a bite of cheese for a small snack before breakfast. His family was not very wealthy, nor were they bad off. They had just enough for a modest living with a bit of comfort and that suited him just fine. They owned one cow, a handful of sheep and goats, a horse, three pigs and two dogs. Like many others in his village he also hunted in the woods for deer and other game. For a while now he had been experimenting with the idea of farming rabbits. He was almost finished constructing a hutch for them, now he just needed to catch some without killing them. In the mean time he figured it wouldn't hurt to go out into the woods and find places to set his traps. He retrieved his bow and quiver from inside in case he stumbled apon any game while he was outside (there was no use in wasting an opportunity to bring home fresh meat when he could). Before going out his mother insisted on him eating a small breakfast before he left so he downed a bowl of porridge and took an apple with him. The air was clear and crisp, a good day in his opinion. The smell of pine and dew everpresent with every step into the land of trees. He felt excited about this day, in a way he couldn't really explain. Right now it just felt good to be in nature. Seeing small birds swoop through the branches, and hearing the first few sounds of life echo through the branches, he had to remind himself of his intentions and continued on his way.

Ragna found herself turning around yet again as she spoke of proof, how in the world would she prove such a outrageous idea? Of course she didn't believe her! Why would she? With such prideful discriptions that sounded more fitting of on of the nine realms of the gods! Horses of steel that run on lightning??? "I am starting to yearn for the chances I had to do away with her in the woods..." Ragna's thought was interupted when she saw the strange object yet again, and she quickly reached reached for the knife behind her back. As the strange noise started playing and Ragna let go of the knife. It was music! Unlike any kind she had heard...it was awful. It had to be witchcraft! There was no other explanation in her mind. "How is this possible??" Ragna questioned with a demanding tone, scrunching her nose up at the sound of it. Perhaps she was a servant of the gods, but she was unlike any seer she had ever seen. She didn't look like a witch either, and God was out of the question. If the rest of the people of Skalavik saw this thing or heard the claims she made, they very well kill her. She should probably warn her of this before she "introduced" her to the Jarl.

~Saga ~ Female~ Viking~ Single ~Location: Woods~ Tags: Alexia, Alyx, and Sam~

Saga leaned back against a nearby tree, crossing her legs at the ankles, as she nodded to Alexia and took back her dagger. She threw her mid-length brown hair in front of her shoulder, not wanting it to get caught on the tree. Her eyes continued to survey the trio before her, taking in their weaknesses and strengths. The one by the name of Alyx, which she had tackled, seemed to have a hard time speaking to Alexia. Saga was determined she was not going to get their names mixed up. Alexia was feminine and Alyx was masculine, she could remember that. The boy by the name of Sam was the more talkative one it seemed, who had screamed like a girl when Brandr attacked. Saga scoffed. She had already decided she could trust Alexia. The newcomers, she wasn’t so sure, so she was keeping an eye on them. A bunch of foreign words had already left their mouths, but she wasn’t about to ask them what it meant unless it was absolutely necessary.

Suddenly Sam’s words were directed at her, which made Saga deepen her scowl. The questions had very obvious answers, to a Viking at least. These foreigners were starting to come off as not being very bright. Saga met Sam’s gaze as she started to answer his first question. “Why did I attack your friend, you ask? If you had a large area to protect from invaders, then you would be defensive when you saw strangers. I know nothing about you three other that you shouldn’t be here and claim to come from a far off land.” Saga folded her arms across her chest.

Saga continued to glare at Sam when she sent a sharp two note whistle. In response, Brandr glided down from his tree and landed on her shoulder padding. “My name is Saga and you have had the wondrous opportunity to meet Brandr,” Saga motioned to her companion on her shoulder. “I saved his life when he was a chick. In return he has remained loyal to me and follows me wherever I go. I can signal him with words, whistles, and hand motions, all of which I have trained him to respond to since he was young.” Saga gave him a glance that suggested this conversation was closed.

Saga became extremely confused when Sam asked if she dressed up to look like a Viking, as if she did it for sport. Saga scoffed in disbelief. “No, I do not dress like this for fun. I am a half-blooded Viking for gods sake. Do I look like I am pretending? NO!!!” Saga growled, tired on all their questions. She pushed off of the tree to look at Alexia. “If you and your kind want food and shelter then I suggest you stop asking me useless questions and follow me.” With that, Saga swished her deerskin cape around her and started once again, in the direction of home.

"It's like I told you," Kay said, stopping the song and turning her phone off once again, "My people are masters of magic of all kinds." In her head, she ran through a list of all the Norse gods she knew, trying to remember which one was most associated with magic. Several if she remebered correctly, but there was one in particular. Odin has blessed us with many gifts, and this is only a small portion of what I'm capable of, being taken so far from my home has drained my power considerably." Well, if she couldn't be a god, she could at least settle for being the servant of one. Something that didn't end with her head on the end of a stake, anyway. Maybe she could even learn from these people, actual warriors were bound to have better swordfighting experience than a bunch of neckbeards with padded sticks. "So, if you don't have any more questions," Kay said, "would you mind telling me your name? You've held me at arrowpoint and taken me captive, I think you at least owe me that much."

Ragna's eyes narrowed for a few moments, and she calmed her expression once more. "I am called Ragna Thorsen, I am a shield maiden under Jarl Gongus, and I serve the only true gods as you do." Ragna stated as she straightened her posture and raised her head with a hint of pride, not bothering to mention the signifigance of her relationship with Gongus. "So...what is this land of your's called, oh servant of Odin." She felt much better about this girl now that she knew of her "loyalty" to at least the chief God Odin. She still felt wary of her, and her intentions in Skalavik...but she was calmer now. Her curiosity for the land she spoke of grew by the second. If it was truly a place that existed, the could this place be one they could raid or trade with? If they were so truly blessed by the gods then perhaps it would be best not to raid them, they didn't want to risk angering them. And she spoke as though she did not want to be here...like she was taken or somehow lost her way. "You would think someone blessed with such capabilities she would know how to find her way around..." Ragna thought to herself with a very slight smirk. "What is your title in this land you come from? Are you a seer?" Ragna asked with curiosity, assuming that the titles were all the same there. She didn't mention the fact that she didn't look like a warrior, but perhaps it was because her power had been drained. Maybe they were warriors that weild Magic? They sounded not unlike gods if this were the case. Or perhaps they weilded weapons like theirs, but her body was weakened like Ragna's could be? Though, even weakened she liked to think that she would be a formidable adversary still...and it was probably true. She looked young, and had a kind face, those were not traits that an established warrior normally had. But she seemed brave, which was a virtue in the highest order in Ragna's opinion, just under strength and fortitude.

"True god is a bit up for debate where I come from," Kay said, deciding not to get into how she lived in a predominantly christian country (she remembered that the Vikings had a bit of a thing going with them at this time in history), but she had to break it to them that she wasn't really a follower of Odin at some point. After all, there might be more people that got sent back with her, and the last thing she needed was conflicting stories from a bunch of different future people. "The full name of my country is The United States of America, but most people just call it America, or even the USA. And I'm not really a seer, either. We don't have those where I come from, pretty much everyone can use the same magic I can. I'm..." she paused, not really sure how to explain the concept of school to Ragna, then deciding to just screw it and roll with it, "An engineering student. And artist, I guess, on the side. Our warriors don't fight with swords and shields, but there are some of us who like to make them anyways and train ourselves to use them. I'm one of those people. I forged my own swords, and I'm still kind of in the process of learning to use them right, but I'm getting pretty good at it."
