Gatekeeper
He tilted his head as he headed towards the car in front of her, opening the passenger side door for her. He held his hand out for her, keeping the door open for Terran. Somehow, the sword did nothing to set him ill at ease, and so he would be as much of a gentleman as he possibly could at this point. Besides, it wasn't often he got the chance to talk to anyone, let alone be a host of any sort. He would have a lot of fun with this.

"There are two other girls, one is a student of yours and the other I believe will be a pain in my neck. There will also be two boys, one, again, part of your class and the other is a party-goer. Every one of them has had the same dream as you, but there isn't much time so I'll explain more on the way."

He hated being so abrupt, but he didn't have the people skills or the energy to explain this same thing to every single one of them. It was better to let them get a rough run-down, then explain it all at once when they got to their destination. He really did hope they would be okay with their living conditions. He did make an effort to put their personality into their rooms.

Terran||Female||27||Tagged: Gatekeeper
"Students of mine?" Terran repeated. Odd that, out of the other seven billion people in the world that could have this ability, two of them would be in one of her classes. As she climbed in the passenger's side, not bothering to strap herself in, Terran fell silent, setting to work thinking about who exactly in her class could be suffering from the same condition. She of course immediately jumped to the more troubled students, the Pastors girl, for one, but of course, that was just speculation. Teenagers were far more susceptible to emotional influence than her, it was only natural to assume that the nightmares would adversely affect their personalities, but then again, maybe they just liked causing trouble. Really, the only way to know for sure was to ask. "So then," she said finally, "Who are we getting next? Are they one of mine, or one of the other two?"

Gatekeeper
Gatekeeper stopped at another place without answering her. He wasn't ignoring her, but the simple fact was that he hadn't heard her. His mind had chosen to block out the woman and focus on the next he was to retrieve. This one was going to be the hardest to retrieve, but luckily he had the sense to get Terran first. She would be able to calm this one better than Gatekeeper himself could. The Latino had one of those faces that could aid in doing that. Gatekeeper had a mask and extremely thick black material standard of a creep that this next target was used to no doubt.

He slipped open the door quietly, turning to look at Terran after stepping to the ground. He regarded her for a moment, running through the algorithms and outcomes in his mind before shaking his head.

"In the glove box you will find some gloves. Pull them on, leave your weapon here, and help me. This next woman is not one of yours, but is a lethal addition and there will definitely be brute force. Stay outside until I summon you, alright? I don't want you dead but I might need you to calm her."

    She trusted him, right?
Terran asked herself that over and over as she watched Gatekeeper step out of the car, turning to look at the glove box. Every time she answered herself, it was always a tentative "maybe". On the one hand, he knew her name, where she lived, and he appeared to know something about her dreams, but on the other, he dressed like a serial killer, and drove an appropriate vehicle. She sort of trusted him, so why did she feel like she was an accomplice? After a few moments of deep introspection, the Latina teacher pulled open the glove box, pulled on the gloves inside (which somehow fit her, more questions she probably wouldn't get answered), and stepped out of the van as well, leaving her Khopesh on the seat. She couldn't help but feel strangely dirty about the whole thing, but at the same time, there was a strange thrill to the whole affair. She felt like a secret agent, sneaking into enemy headquarters. If only she'd brought her headphones, she could put on some Mission Impossible music and really get into the mood.

Gatekeeper
Gatekeeper did not close the door of the car before stealing across the ground for fear of alerting the woman within these walls. She was, after all, a mercenary by trade, and surprise would be his greatest asset at this point. It was, however, a good thing Terran was there to center his resolve. He couldn't afford to lose her so he quite simply would not lose her.

He went to the nearest wall, signaling for Terran to stay before he looked closely for an alarm on the window. After a moment of concentration, the window was unlocked and all safety measures taken to not alert her. He slid open the window just as quietly as Terran's before slipping inside. He left the window open this time so he could summon the Latino woman to his side in the case that he couldn't subdue Duraal on his own.

He listened intently for any signs of movement as he once more motioned for Terran to stay where she was. Wherever this woman was, he needed to know quickly. There was no room for error at this point, and he feared she already knew he was there.

"Not a Warning, Not a Question, a Bullet"

~Duraal~
A faint sigh escaped my lips as my silver eyes stares up to the crisp night sky. The fresh and unmistakable sent of blood lingered in the air. Toes curled around the cold grass as my eyes shifted from the sky and to the scene before me. There laid a number of bodies, all motionless. None of the nicely dressed men moved. Why, well simply they could not longer. Their bodies no longer sent singles from the brain to the rest limbs or anything for the matter of fact. These men laid dead on the cold grassy ground. "Shadow you coming or not?" a voice broke the silence that had fallen over the place. I turned, my eyes scanning the open field that the small little fight had taken place. Finally they came to a rest upon three different men who still breathed.

My hand whipped in the air, blood being forced off of the blades of my daggers from the movement. "Yes." The word was simple and toneless as I moved over to the small group. I walked with a silent step, my feet had no shoes on which made me ever more quieter. It was almost like I slithered through the darkness of the night and to the car that was sitting on the dirt road. I crawled into the back seat before closing the door. The other men soon following my lead. "Where d..." "Normal Place." I cut the one who was driving off as he was about to ask where I wanted to be dropped off. He said not another word as the car was turned on.

It as a silent ride back to where I lived. The ride was actually pretty long too. Most of the ride I spent cleaning the blood from my tools and from myself. It was early morning by the time we had rolled to the road I lived on, well at least for now. The man stopped the car and with out a word for me I climbed out. "The Money will be delivered latter. Boss will also contact you too." The words followed right before I closed the door. Once the man had fallen silent the door was slammed shut and I headed off down the lone empty street.

I had been dropped off a few miles from my house. I never liked the fact of them going to it and this made it so they did not know exactly where I lived. The walk was almost an hour before I finally turned the corner into my long driveway. My house set back into a small little forest, hidden from the road. As I neared my place of residence I knew right off something was not right. I seemed to morph into the shadows as my steps became light and quicker. It did not take long for my to notice the lone unwelcome van that sat with in my driveway. The drive side door was still wide open, rather smart move if they knew who they where dealing with, but did they?

It was like I glided over the lawn, looking for who ever had decided it would be a good idea to come to my home. That was when I notice them. I watched as one, a rather suspicious looking male entered through the window. I had no alarm systems set up, never needed them. Nor was the window even locked, but by how he moved I figured he knew what he was doing and who he was messing with. The second person was a female, a women. As I looked at her I notice something rather odd.

It was almost like out of no where did I appeared behind the women, my words had a kinder tone to them. One this women knew well. "Mrs. Ortega what are you doing in front of my house?" I asked the history teacher. For the past month I had been in her class as a student by the name of Aerona. I was on a mission for some supper rich person to protect their child at the school. They had placed me in all the same classes and well it has been going on for a month.

To the poor women it was almost like I had appeared out of no where behind her, and well I almost did. To her, all she could really she was her student. All my weapons where hidden from sight, after all walking around with them was never a good idea.

Terran let out a yelp of surprise, whirling on the spot and jumping back at the sound of another voice behind her. A girl? This must be one of her students then. What was she doing outside her house in the middle of the night? And what right did she have to be asking that, seeing as she was also outside her house in the middle of the night? It was a little hard to see in the darkness, but it almost looked like...
"Aerona?" She asked, bending forward to get a better look. Sure enough, it was the newest addition to her class. She'd always had a strange feeling about her to begin with, after all she'd shown up halfway through the semester, and she did occasionally come to class with odd injuries, but she'd never questioned it. Until now, that is. "What are you doing out here so late, shouldn't you be asleep?"

I stood there looking to the history teacher as she seemed to recognize me. I looked at her for a moment before smiling. In class I was a nice and good girl. Hard working and very independent. "I just could not fall asleep. I am worried about a math test tomorrow morning." I said to her as I looked back over to where I had come from. "There is a hammock over there. When I get nervous or I can't sleep at night I send to come out here and sleep there. I find it relaxing." If you looked really closely, you could see the hammock over there. The weather was not that cold so it was not that uncommon for someone to sleep outside. But there was after all a blanket and pillow in the hammock. I had used it earlier today to sleep in actually.

I stood there looking to her, waiting for her to ask about my father and where he was. The cover story that I was using at the school was that my mother was dead, she passed away a year ago. My father is a supper busy man who is often away for his work. We moved to this town to get me a fresh start because of my mothers death. "You driving up in this van woke me up. I watched to see who it was and when I notice it was you I figured it would be safe to come over and ask." I said to her. There was a small shake to my voice almost like I was a little scared. "So Mrs. Ortega what are you and that person who just entered my house doing here?" I asked again, portending to me a little scared and nervous about the entire thing.

"Oh," Terran said, looking back at the open window that Gatekeeper had just slipped into. Gods above, she hoped the school board never found out about this. Hopefully Aerona's parents were heavy sleepers. Come to think of it, she hadn't ever seen the girl's family, any of it. She'd heard from one of the other teachers that her mother had passed, but what of her father? Where was he? "Well, y'see..." the teacher fumbled for a moment as she tried to find a way to explain their situation to her student. What exactly was the protocol here, anyway? She'd hoped that Gatekeeper would do all the explaining, but it was clear she wasn't getting any help from that corner yet. "It's a little... complicated. Tell me, Aerona," she said, still working out how exactly to word her question, "Have you been experiencing anything... strange... in the past few months? Any strange visions you couldn't account for, or any strange dreams, perhaps?" How she wished Gatekeeper would come back outside. She could lecture about the cultures of ancient Central America until she was blue in the face, explaining supernatural death-dreams was orders of magnitude outside her scope of knowledge.

Gatekeeper
Yet Gatekeeper wasn't in the position to come outside, or even know that Duraal was outside. He was slowly making his way through the house, shoes left where he had entered, and socks muffling his every step. He was careful not to make any noise as he slid towards where he knew the assassin girl's room was, checking every doorway along the way in case she had heard the van drive up and planned a sneak attack. It filled him with a sense of nostalgia that made adrenaline sluggishly crawl through his veins. He vainly wetted his lips, eyes somehow seeing through the darkness despite the mask's limitations. He was right where he belonged, and the surety of his steps mirrored that.

When he entered her room, the instant sight of her empty bed sent thrills of realization through his body. He stiffened, turning quickly to either side of him. No one breathed. No one moved. He was alone. He blinked in the darkness, tilting his head in curiosity as he turned around. No one moved behind him either. The absence was numbing, dizzying. The air around him seemed to be too stagnant to have had any living being in it recently, the energy in the air no more useful than lazy static. She wasn't here.

He relaxed a little and frowned. What time was she supposed to be home again? He went to the room's window and looked out at the moon. Themed for this night, it was a cut of a crescent moon, stark white against a velvet black void. From its height, he inferred a general time for the current season, but he could never be exact with that method. It wasn't like he had been above ground for a long time, after all. If he had made any mistake, he wouldn't know until it was too late, so why wasn't anyone showing up with a knife to his neck already? It didn't make sense.

As he paced the room, he calculated his timing and her usual patterns. Someone had contacted her when? Had she not done the job yet, or was tonight that night? He should have been more thorough. If it was tonight, then would he have to leave and come back closer to dawn before she awoke? That would be embarrassing for him to admit to Terran. After all, he was a-

He paused, his mind going back to Terran. He had left her outside, alone, with a missing mercenary. Instantly his mind recoiled, chasing away all outlying thoughts as he focused on the new development. Was Terran in danger, or was the trained killer still playing her part? What should he do?

He left rather quickly, but slow enough to keep his stealth in check. The window was ahead before he knew it, and he had not checked the rooms before coming this far. He didn't have time to regret that decision, but before he could conclude that it was a failure of his skill he heard voices from outside.

Quietly, without moving within eyesight of the window, he stole across the floor. He straightened beside the window, listening to the ongoing conversation in hopes that nothing went from bad to worse. His shoes were within reaching distance, but any move to retrieve them would give him away. He would have to deal with not having a weapon in hand for now.
