ℒ Lucille ll Female ll Author ll Entering and curious ll Tagged;; Group? ℒ

Lucille shifted as she sat there, alone for a bit. Her eyes simply studied the house as she waited, taking in the intricate details of the design. Her head turned quickly hearing the spitting of gravel and vehicles, people were finally arriving. She watched them, nodding. As time went on, the group grew a little bit. She smiled to those who spoke before introducing herself.
"Lucille Gray, a pleasure.."
The small female jumped as the door suddenly opened, taking a small yet noticeable step back. Her cheeks flushed red as she smiled wide to the owner, Mr. Lycus.
"Ahh hello! Heh, its quite a pleasure. Your house is rather..Beautiful." Lucille studied him for moment, her eyes lingering to his face before she moved past him, letting herself take in the rest of the house. She moved into the parlor for a moment, catching a quick, but obvious glimpse of the odd Lion head. It was beautiful in a very haunting way, another good detail to note for later she thought to herself, nodding.
It was literally a scene out of a movie, everything seemed absolutely perfect. A bright smile crossed her lips, her pale gaze remaining on the decor of the house before she glanced over her shoulder to the owner again.

"Hm..." Lucille moved towards one of the staircases, her heels clicking as she walked, adjusting her skirt a bit. She moved down a nicely lit hall, a little farther down from the others who were already choosing. Slowly, but surely, she creaked the door open, flipping on the light.
She definitely didn't regret her room choice, because it was flawless. A queen-sized been draped with a crimson canopy, with a large golden comforter with red and gold pillows to match. There was a side table, small closet, vanity dresser a few paintings. Lucille moved to the dresser, setting her bag on it before beginning to unpack her stuff.
Once done, she moved to the bed with her laptop, plopping down onto the awfully comfortable bed. She giggled to herself as she booted up the laptop, deciding it would be a good idea to begin writing down details of the manor and settings. Her mind began to wonder about the others, curious as to who they were...Maybe she would find out later, who knows.
Finally the machine had turned on and she went to a simple document with her story ideas, starting a whole new page.
A large house...3 stories, elegant, well-kept. Lion head over fire in Parlor...Odd sensation that seems to linger...
Biting her lip a little, Lucille looked around the room, sitting up and relaxing a bit more.

"This will be fun...Hopefully.." She muttered halfheartedly, unable to shake a weird sensation off her shoulders.

Cosette Hugo, 20, Female (Demigirl), Psych Student Extraordinaire

Cosette entered, mentally noting the warning as part of the frightening ambiance she was expecting. She assuaged her fears by convincing herself that the warning was solely because the house was old, and without lights, they might trip.
"Thank you, Monsieur Lycus," she said, giving Xander a polite smile. "You have a lovely home." She made sure to keep her manners from becoming a discussion by promptly rushing in the direction of the rooms.
Eventually, she landed her sights on a small bedroom. It seemed a little more utilitarian than the rest she had observed, with a simple creme wallpaper and delicate (but tasteful) decor. She set down everything she had brought, save her small recorder, on the bed to stake her claim. Her fingers slid over the "on" button in a fluid motion as she lifted the device to her face.
"Note one," she began. "We were told to turn on the lights, implying that the dark is to be considered unsafe. Possibly a simple safety measure; we'll see if it affects the group's perception of the manor." Cosette moved towards the light switch and hesitated. A quick experiment could hardly hurt and logic told her that there was nothing to fear, but she still felt dread deep in the pit of her stomach as her finger hovered over the switch. She gulped and quickly flipped the lights off.
The room quickly plunged into darkness. At first, it seemed like any other dark room, and Cosette relaxed slightly.
"No obvious change in safety has been brought on by testing the lights," she recorded. "I suspect it was only said to add to the mood."
A shadow in the corner moved and Cosette fell silent. She stared at the corner intently, her finger millimeters away from the switch, when she felt something brush her leg. She looked down to see nothing and, upon looking up, saw the shadow was a little closer than it had been before. She turned the lights back on and let out a soft sigh of relief.
"It was probably nothing, but either way, leave the lights on," she whispered, clicking the recorder off. It still felt like there was something watching, so she slipped it back into her pocket and left the room to rejoin whoever remained in the general vicinity of the door to make small talk.

everett rohr
male, twenty-six, architect, tagged/---

xxxxxXander had not kept the small group waiting too long. Thankfully, the manor's entrance opened up before Everett had to introduce himself to the crew of complete strangers surrounding him. He knew he would have to get to know them eventually, but right now, plagued with a sense of unfamiliarity looming over him, Everett felt extremely uncomfortable in his own skin and needed a few minutes alone to settle in. A few people moved ahead inside of the manor, and Everett had every intention to follow suit. As much as he wanted to stick around and discuss the interiors of the manor with its owner, he knew that Xander would be deluged with questions and small talk by the other guests. Figuring that he had the rest of the night to talk to Xander and get a more personal feel for the mansion, he simply muttered a 'thanks', his eyes cast to the floor in front of him, as he continued through the entrance and into the parlor.

xxxxxThe inside of the manor was an archaic sort of beautiful, ancient and seemingly lost in time itself. The decor was outdated, but in a way that made the entire mansion feel more like an authentic upscale museum. The perfect setting for the stereotypical horror story. It was no wonder why Xander was so used to the public's interest in his mansion. Although the overall feel wasn't exactly Everett's preference, there was a reason why he was spending the night in the Lycus manor and not his minimalist studio apartment, after all. Itching to get straight to work, Everett began to wander down a hallway he had seen a couple of other guests favor and immediately found himself lost in a maze of rooms and corridors.

xxxxxFrustration mixed with eagerness to begin forced Everett to choose the next random room he came across. Before he crossed the threshold into the bedroom, he remembered Xander's comment about the lights. Being a realist, Everett never believed in the paranormal. Xander seemed too genuine to try and scare off the group with empty threats and unnecessary warnings, so Everett simply chose to assume that the grandiose manor had faulty electrical wiring. Everett wanted to be absolutely sure he picked a room with adequate lighting, so he flicked on the lights and set his bag on a maroon-colored, queen-sized bed. Digging through his backpack, Everett withdrew the pine-scented candle and set it on the wooden nightstand beside the guest bed. (He still wasn't quite sure if he should offer the candle to Xander as a sign of appreciation, nobody else seemed to have brought housewarming gifts from what he saw so far). He would probably just end up leaving it there for Xander to happen across in the future, if he was still unsure by the end of the night. With one dilemma out of the way, the architect pulled a small tape-measure and some scrap paper out of his pack, quickly setting to work measuring the room and scratching numbers across a blank sheet of paper.

Xander's smile widened as the group filed inside and murmured their greetings to him before continuing on to explore a little to find a bedroom. Xander was used to this and let them leave without any further words, as he knew that people were much less uneasy when allowed to familiarize themselves with the surroundings a bit. With a relenting sigh to suppress some of his excitement, he made his way back to the couch in the parlor and sat down again. Everyone seemed to have disappeared into the house, leaving him alone for a moment. He knew they would return shortly, though, if they didn't get lost in the labyrinth of hallways, that is. He hoped that he wouldn't have to go and find the poor people so early in the evening.

The soft fabric of the couch below his palms gave Xander a small amount of tranquility, although his leg was bouncing up and down from the nervous energy within him. Suddenly, he heard a loud laugh and satisfied growl from Penumbra echo in the back of his mind. His eyes narrowed angrily before he realized that it was one of those things that he could only hear in his mind and was undoubtedly the result of his connection with the demon. The guests wouldn't have noticed it at all. These people will keep the lights on if they know what's good for them . . . not that it can really prevent anything. Penumbra can turn off the lights if he wants, he thought with a sigh.

He tried to lean back and relax for a moment when a woman walked into the parlor. Xander's smile returned and was immediately plastered all over his face. He stood up to face her, as he figured that it was the polite thing to do.
"Hello there," he greeted her affably, his pale green eye examining her. He self-consciously tugged at one of his sleeves and raked his dark hair back.

Xander tried to sift through his memories of the letters he had received so that he could place the name with the intent.
"Allow me to formally introduce myself. Xander Lycus, as you assuredly already know. And your name is?" he asked, extending a hand to her with the intent to shake.

Cosette jumped ever so slightly at the sound of Lycus' voice; her nerves were still on edge from what she definitely imagined in her room.

"A pleasure to officially meet you," Cosette chimed, accepting his hand for a firm shake. "My name is Cosette Hugo, yes like Cosette of the classic book, I'm afraid my parents were Lit professors. I'm the psychology student...?" She adjusted her own outfit, mentally noting that she was mirroring Xander's actions and applying five different psych vocab terms to the situation to ease her nerves. Sometimes, her dedication to the study made her feel a little sick.

She focused some of her attention to examining the parlor, keeping a sharp eye out for odd shadows. It was beautiful, though she found herself adding to her internal monologue that beauty was subjective and that made beautiful an incorrect evaluation. Opulent was a little better, but not much. The fire made the shadows flicker a little, but she tried not to obsess over it.

Cosette considered asking if he had mice in the manor- it would certainly explain the whatever-it-was that had brushed against her leg- but decided against it. She didn't quite want to say anything that indicated she had directly broken the only real rule that had been set.

Xander's grin extended further, if that was possible. He reciprocated her shake and noticed that she seemed a bit shaken by something, but he didn't say anything. Once he had retracted his hand, he adopted a more casual pose - slightly leaning to the right with one hand in his pocket. "Ah, yes. You're here to evaluate these people once they are subjected to a - uh - stimulating environment," he chuckled.

He watched her as she looked around, taking in the surroundings. His own gaze wandered to the far wall, where the fire cast flickering shadows. He was used to them, but he could see where they would be unnerving to guests. His eye then darted toward the mounted lion head over the mantel and he let out a sound reminiscent of suppressed hysterical laughter. Xander's sudden outburst surprised him and he quickly looked back at Cosette with an apologetic expression.
"Terribly sorry about that, sometimes I just can't contain myself," he murmured, a smile crossing his face once more. "Perhaps you would do well to evaluate me, as well."

After looking around the room and exploring the décor, Newton decided to travel down to the main room for conversations with the others of the manor. He stepped out of the room, looking at the long corridor on either side of him. He came from the left, correct? Correct. The obsessive strolled down the corridor, looking at the walls. Beautiful paintings littered the wall, portraits of humans and of storybook characters. The man stood at the top of the steps, fingers grazing over the railing. He would not touch that railing- he would instead hover his fingers right over it.

Newton glanced down into the room, looking at the owner and one of the volunteers, watching their movements. They were having a normal conversation, analyzing each other, watching their movements. Figuring each other out. He lightly pattered down the stairs, shined dress shoes making no noise on the wooden steps. The shadows danced across the wall, and the lion head seemed to be mocking him. Calmly walking up to the pair, he gave a small smile. "Cosette Hugo, ja?"

Cosette jumped and nearly yelped at the sound of his laughter but quickly turned it into a nervous chuckle. Something about him definitely seemed off, but she couldn't exactly say that to the man's face. It was probably just some sort of preconceived notion affecting her perception of him, she assumed as a way of soothing her mental warning bells.

"It's quite alright," she said, adding a smile for good measure. "I'll evaluate you if you'd like, but from my own narrow experience, we're all at least a little twisted. It's the perfectly sane ones that worry me."

She turned to view the new speaker, another one of the guests. Part of her wished he would leave so she could have a little more time to verbally dissect Xander, but she would have plenty of time for that later, and either way, she still needed to dissect the other guests as well. She plastered on her best therapist-in-training grin.

"Oui," Cosette hummed, intentionally emphasizing her accent a little, mostly for effect. "But you have me at a disadvantage, Monsieur, for you know my name and I don’t know yours.”

Selene was stopped in the a corner of the parlor in the dark. Her eyes glued to the wall and the details to the structure of the walls. She sighed softly as she turned around and saw two guests and Xander. "Hm.. I'm surprised they didn't see me.." she whispered then shrugged. She was on the far end of the parlor and in the dark. She then began to slowly make her way over to them. Her shoes making clacking noises each time she took a step forward. She slowed down a bit, trying to keep the sound of her movement quieter than it was. Her arms were placed neatly in front of her as she neared the group.

As she came up besides Xander she stared at the other two guests, a small smile on her face. Not wanting to interrupt the female, Selene stood silently as she listened the woman speak. After she had finished Selene nodded her head and looked up. [i]"Hi there. I'm Selene Marie, a paranormal investigator and journalist. It's very nice to meet you all."
She said with a large, toothy smile, trying to make the best impression that she could. Her hands were still straight in front of her, locked. She then fell silent as she took a step to the side away from Xander so she could see him better.

French, hm? Newton felt happy at hearing the voice of another European. His arms found their places across his chest and a smirk crossed his features. "Ah, that does seem like a problem-" His sentence stopped in his throat and he heard the clicking of the shoes on the wood floor, loud in the comfortable quiet of the room. One, Two, Three... Two, Two, Three...

He kept the smirk on his face, however, opening himself up to allow the other into the conversation circle. "Please to meet you, Selene.-" He glanced at the quiet journalist, "My name is Newton Rivalle, and unfortunately, I do not have an impressive job description to tag onto my name." He gave a small chuckle. "I'm glad your lines of work meet up well with this overnight stay, however."
