the year is 2270.

things are better on earth. the air is clean, the cities industrialized, and the people who call the blue planet generally live much happier lives than their ancestors over two hundred years ago. the biggest industry is no longer the oil industry. it's space travel. you see, after sending the uss enterprise off onto its five year voyage, people began to figure out that there is so much more out there than klingon space, or the blackhole where vulcan used to be. there were bigger and better things out there, and there were means to finally access those things.

the young people of earth are easily influenced this day and age, and after career day, it was easy to say that starfleet was the way to go. there was so many possibilities within starfleet. everyone was finally seeing all these open doors, and the answer 'I'm going to join starfleet when I graduate' became so much more acceptable in households.

people wanted to get into starfleet, and because of that, the competition has never been so fierce. although starfleet has always been an organization open to anyone willing to study (and put their minds into it), the best of the best are only let in due to its sudden popularity. and with the next five year mission on board the endeavor just a year away, people are willing to do anything to get on that ship.

the starfleet earth campus is located across the golden gate bridge in san francisco, california. most of the personnel training is done on this campus. the campus specializes in medicine, communications, engineering, tactics, navigation, counselling, and directives. the school was once the school of notable alumni such as james t. kirk, and nyota uhura. because of their very popular alumni, it's obvious that this school is no joke. they take their courses very seriously, and are not afraid to boot anyone who is not willing to go the extra mile.

meet evie mcdavis, the baby of the mcdavis twins. she's been following her brother's footsteps since they were children and has always been highly dependent on his comfort. she's fascinated by everything, but what led her to pursue medicine was the fact that she was horrible at everything else. she's no leader, and her sense of direction is laughable. she considered counseling because of her considerate nature, until she realized she wasn't much of a listener, either. despite her capricious demeanor, evie takes her studies seriously.

elias mcdavis is the twin everyone's heard about. not necessarily for the greatest things, either. he think in terms of what's best for himself, sometimes forgetting how caring his sister is towards him. deep down, however, he'd do anything for evie. even if it is pulling a few strings to get her enrolled in the medicine department. he's a very influential young man, but this can easily be overlooked when it comes to how rowdy and perverted he acts. most of it's just a ruse to hid the fact that he's actually horribly insecure about relationships.
