Drew slowly sat up, wiping the sleep from her hazel oculars. She felt the placement beneath her and felt the prickling of straw under her palms. She looked around and noticed that she was in a stall on a straw bed. It was an empty sall for which she was slightly thankful for, but she didn't quite remember how she had fallen asleep there. Drew slowly got to her feet and brush the straw from her pants and shirt, occasionally pulling piece from her long strands of hazelnut hair. She walked over to the stall door, which was open, and peeked her head outside to see if anyone was around. Slowly, she sneaked out and closed the door behind her before she sped down the isle, hoping nobody would notice the girl with dirty clothes and straw still hanging in her hair, stepping out from a stall early in the morning.

After a quick change and recap of the night before, Drew concluded that she wasn't having one of her good days the day before and ended up crashing in the barn in the empty stall beside her horse. She walked back down the isle of the barn, and with a bit of searching, she found the tack room. It didn't take long for her to spot her black and brown leather saddle that once belonged to her grandfather. She couldn't help but feel a slight curl in the corners of her mouth as she imagined the antique being used on such a horse as her own wild filly. She ran her palms over it, just to feel it after not having touched it for so many years. Drew picked it up after the long moment and brought it over to her horse where she had been waiting after Drew got her from the fields.

sadie; seventeen; owns gunner, rojo [soon to be killed off], and an unborn foal, red; no crush; reining

sadie, hearing a voice, looked up. it was the new stablehand. she gave a soft smile, turning to look at him. "hi, yoska, is it? i think i`m good hear. she shouldn`t have any complications, so i believe i`m good. thank you though." she murmured, glancing between the hand, and the mare. rojo`s ears pinned as she backed up, dropping to her front knees and falling on her side. this was going to be a quick birth, only a few hours. by morning light, sadie would have a foal to take care of.

the girl got on her knees, leaning her back against the stall wall and pulling rojo`s head onto sadie`s lap. "if you could though, grab a rag and wet it. rojo is warming up." she kindly asked, stroking the cremello`s neck. she gave a whicker, and soon whinnied, feeling a kick. it was all sadie could do not to cry, seeing the mare in pain. she sighed, needing to check where the foal was at. moving rojo`s head off her lap, gently laying it on the shavings, she got up. walking to the storage room, she grabbed a big pair of preg-checker gloves, that`s what sadie called them.

entering the stall again, she moved to the rump of the mare. quickly checking the position of the foal, sadie got even more worried. "actually, get a wet rap, and start rubbing her down. the foal is upside down." she said, rushing out to the wall phone. quickly dialing dr. cardinal`s number, she waited until he picked up. "the foal is upside down.... C-section?!... alright... leave her there? go ahead and give her pain meds? ok, see you in five." hanging up, she quickly grabbed a syringe, filling it with a small dose of pain meds. she then ran back to rojo`s stall, getting down by her neck, and inserting the needle, pushing it down, then taking out the needle.

rojo seemed to calm down a whole lot more, so sadie worked on getting her up. she stroked her muzzle, kissing the soft velvet and holding her muzzle while the mare calmed down. "thanks by the way, you`re helping a whole lot." she murmured to the hand, briefly glancing at yoska before running her hands through rojo`s forelock.

heath; twenty-four; teaches show jumping; owns odd man out; no crush

"can do!" he said, tying manny up and going to adjust the jumps. he set the two far jumps to four feet, and the other to five." he laughed as he saw her face flush, and heard her words. "it`s not to much at all! anything to help a fellow instructor!" he assured her, setting them all to the right place. he then backed away, running back towards manny to untie him. he glanced back to daciana, hearing her words. "alright, sounds good. i`m going to go untack manny and put him in a two horse paddock, if you just want to put raven in there afterwards, that`ll be fine." he said, mounting up again as he noticed the two-year-younger girl moving to warm up.

hearing another female voice, he glanced towards dana. "if you are 16 and below, you`re are show jumping this morning. 17 up, you are jumping in an hour and a half." he said, keeping manny together as he looked down at the girl. "i`m heath, the 17 and up trainer. you must be, dana?" he asked, patting manny and dismounting again. "i hope you know what you`re getting into this year young lady. i`m most likely one of the hardest trainers here. i`ll break you and then mold you as the jumper i want you to be." he said, his voice stern. "and i hope, you`re horse is prepared as well." he added. and with that, he lead manny out and towards the barn.

Ryan :: 16 :: horse- Harmma Aave (aka- Grey Ghost) :: crush- open

Ryan slowed Aave down to a walk, the trees casting slight shadows from the morning sun. "Well, we aughtt'a go back now." Ryan whispered. She patted Aave's strong neck and turned her around. There was a slight breeze, just enough to ruffle Aave's mane and Ryan's brown locks of hair. She could tell the time from the hight of the sun. "Lets hurry we don't want to miss any lessons." she murmured. Urging Aave into a trot they disappeared down the trail.

Eventually they made it back to the stables. Ryan was just in time to see the girl, Sadie, drag what looked like a pregnant mare into a stall. Her green eyes clouded with confusion as she walked around the barn a few times as a cool off. Aave pranced most of the lap, still ready to get her energy out. Ryan dismounted Aave and threw her rains over her head, leading Aave to where she had tacked her up. She threw the reins over the fence for a moment.

After haltering Aave and putting her bridle on a fence post she walked to the barn. Sadie and another guy where peering into a large stall. Ryan lingered around the barn entrance before taking a step inside. "Is everything alright?" she called into the barn. Not loud enough to scare any horses though. Ryan took another step inside.

- final post for tonight-

sadie; seventeen; owns gunner, rojo [soon to be killed off], and an unborn foal, red; no crush; reining

sadie glanced to ryan, giving a assuring nod. "yes ma`am. just gotta get this little lady here a C-section and then separate the mare and foal for a little bit. nothin' major." she murmured, letting rojo turn her head to glance at ryan. she then dropped her head again, pressing her forehead into sadie`s chest. the girl stroked her cheek, sighing softly. dr. cardinal came quickly, moving everyone a side to load the mare into the trailer, but not without sedating her first. "i`ll give you a call in a bit, i`ll take her to the stalls, get her settled, take her to surgery, and she should be fine." he murmured. sadie sighed sadly, but nodded. "alright. thank you."

Fifteen minutes of trot work on both reins was more than enough for Thomas after finally getting Zus to come back into walk and be able to lead him from the arena. For his age Zus did not tend to act like it and often became very stubborn, especially when on the lunge or long reining and it often took some force to stop him, but Thomas got him back easily enough, leading hi back up the track towards the barn. The stallion plodded by idly, head low as he chomped on the bit in his mouth, a simple hanging cheek snaffle but he never really needed anything stronger unless been lead out to the field or out on stud duties, then a chifney was used.

As the pair came back to the main court yard Thomas noticed a small crowd gathering around the vets trailer. He kept his distance with Zus "Okay guys!" he called sharply, accent piercing the air as usual "Back up, out of the way, if its a medical emergency you leave it to the professionals, you dont stand gawking when a person has a heart attack!" he added sternly "Now i see shavings in the aisle and if you are in the under sixteens jumping lesson i suggest you hurry up, your lesson is now! If not i want to see these horses cared for and groomed and I want this place spick and span before lunch" his eyes narrowed as he folded his arms waiting for the reaction, of course he had no idea what was going on but an audience was not needed "And remember, the lunch time and tea time feeds need making up, i dont want horses missing feeding time because of some little drama on the first day" he huffed "Well come on!" he added motioning with his arms towards the barn to get the students moving before leading Zus through the double doors and down to his stable, tying the stallion on a tie ring inside , removing the lunging gear, and began grooming, using a damp cloth to rid the horse of sweat marks on its face and belly.

Yoska Petulengro - 20 - Stable hand - with Sadie and Ryan

Yoska did what was asked of him and quickly got a rag and wet it in the sink. He brought it back and began washing the mare down, doing his best to soothe her. She seemed stressed, not that he could blame her. He stood by the mare's flank and rubbed her side as Sadie checked the foal, then furrowed his brow with concern when she ran to the phone. He got enough of the conversation to understand what was happening: the foal wasn't positioned properly. The mare would have to have surgery.

He knelt down next to the horse and rubbed gentle circles into her shoulders. Complications with foal birth weren't too terribly uncommon; hopefully everything would turn out fine. When the girl, Sadie, thanked him for his help, Yoska gave a small smile.
"It's no problem," He said. The young man remained mostly quiet until the vet came to gather the horse. He stood and brushed shavings off of his pants and watched as the trailer drove off.

Yoska stood there until one of the instructors came over and began barking orders. The man silently gathered his wet clothe and hung it up to dry, then headed back to the main barn to help get feed buckets ready.

Dana Henson-Show Jumper- Tag; Daciana. Heath
"Nice to meet you," Dana had a few words she was saying to herself, but instead said out loud with a smile "Well I'm looking forward to seeing what you got planned. As long as you don't hurt my horse, I'm looking forward to the lesson," Direct and to the point was how she approached it all this time. The girl wasn't going to lie and play the 'bow down to your instructor' type but not the 'I'm going to fight every thing you say and hate you forever' type either. But if he harmed her horse, she'd be past angry. And that was how she was: keeping it real. Even though she was the student, she kept her boundaries known to everyone. And on a mental note to herself every time someone said 'I hope you're ready' or 'I hope your horse can handle this' in the ring to her, she kind of just wanted to roll her eyes and ignore them.
She'd had instructors who were harsh. Break you down kinds before. They weren't anything new. She was with one trainer for over a year every week who was eventually fired for making too many students cry or leave the center. But honestly, as weird as it sounded, Dana kind of liked the way they teach. In order to learn, she needed to know upfront what she was doing wrong and how to fix it. She'd been taught hunters, told to completely change her style to accommodate equitation, and then basically those two where obliterated from her brain and show jumping took over. Basically, she was used to being molded into whatever her instructors wanted and with the young mount she had, it was possible for both of them. She knew she was technically younger than Heath's intended students, but she'd be old for her group if she stuck with the other instructor. Dana's brown eyes followed him as he left and then she turned her glance to the girl in the ring. "Sorry to be a bother, but mind if I walk my horse out while you're doing your course or something?" She asked, taking a glance at the girl's horse then the course that was just heightened. She had schooled 3 foot 6 before, but Dana wasn't much of a shower besides back in her equitation days. She was hoping the girl would say yes as she put on a smile.

Drew checked the time on her phone before walking her horse to head out of the barn. She caught sight o a small group gathering before a stall, seeming to gawk at what was there. Out of pure curiosity, Drew placed Fae in her stall before maneuvering her way over to the group, careful to stay on the outside, unnoticed. She couldn't see past the shoulders bustling about and standing on her tip toes did not help the short girl anymore. She finally went off to the side and grabbed ahold of the bars an pulled herself up so her feet were on the bottom rim of the stall's wall and she was able to peer downward and see the commotion inside. Seeing a boy and another girl with a horse whose stomach seemed to be bloated and the mare seemed to be sweating immensely. She figured that the mare was about to give both, but with the worried look on the girl's face, Drew knew it wasn't going to be a normal birth and she also must've been the owner.
Feeling like she had to do something, Drew opened her mouth to speak, but no sound escaped. She knew the boy probably had it taken care of and would most likely have brushed her offer to help, away. She had seen so many births of farm animals from her brother, it seemed so normal to see this mare, and she had a feeling she knew what they were going to do. Instead of speaking up, Drew looked down at her feet and then back at the sight inside the stall. There was no way anyone would let an amateur help and there was no way Drew could speak to anybody. She had seemed to neglect the motions of speech so long ago that she hadn't heard her voice and would most likely not be able to use it at this time. Drew hadn't heard the boy order the other students to go away either. The petite girl stood idly by, feeling useless as she watched the commotion go on inside.

After the mare had been taken to the vet and the group of gathering people slowly subsided, Drew waited for another moment or two before the gathering had been completely dispersed. She stood there, alone with straw still stuck in her hazelnut hair, before realizing she still had Fae all saddled up in another stall. She ran over to the mare and pulled her out of the stall, walking her out of the barn before pulling herself into the saddle. That part had always been a bit of a struggle for her since the stirrup of the saddle was so high off the ground for her short body. Luckily her legs were still long, so she was always able to manage climbing into the saddle.
Fae tried to move forward before Drew was ready, but having experienced this so many times, Drew was able to stop her before she moved any father. She realized then that she was in a foreign place to Fae and the mare spooked easily in any place she was not familiar with. It might have been safer to grab a riding buddy, but Drew didn't know anyone or feel comfortable asking a stranger to come with her. She looked down at the mare, unsure of what to do next.

Ryan :: 16 :: Harmma Aave (aka- Grey Ghost) :: crush- open

Ryan nodded "Ok." she replied as the vet came rushing into the barn. Ryan backed up and let the vet through the now crowded stable. She went to turn around but one of the instructors, who seemed quite impatient ordered everyone to work. Ryan walked to the storage room and tabbed a broom and quickly began to sweep the curly tan pieces of shavings. She made her way quickly down the aisle, brushing the shavings into other stalls. Ryan finished in a few minuets, she walked back to the closet and put away the broom.

Ryan jogged back to her dorm where she grabbed her guitar. Since the under 16 jumping lesson was starting Ryan knew she'd have a while to wait. Grabbing an apple before she left, she made her way back to Aave who was half asleep. She smiled and took a bite of the apple. Aave's ears perked when she heard the crunch of the apple skin. She pawed the ground and lowed her head to Ryan who had sat down. "Sure." she chuckled and offered Aave the apple. She ate it in two bites. Wiping her hand clean from slobber she wrapped her long nimble fingers around the neck of her guitar. She strummed a couple cords before starting into a song.

"I know they say, you can't go home again. I just had to come back one last time. Ma'am I know you don't know me from adam." she began to sing. "But these handprints on the front steps are mine. Up those stairs, in that little black bedroom. Is here I did my homework and learned to play guitar. And I bet you didn't know, that under that live oak. My favorite dog is buried in the yard." Ryan continued. It was the first song she had learned to play by herself.

song belongs to Miranda Lambert))

|~|Daciana Andreea Dalca|~|Show Jumping Instructor|~|Female|~|22|~|

"Not at all," Daciana replied to Dana, smiling at the student. Clicking her tongue, she sent NightMare forward, going at a slow cantor around the ring. She sat deep in her saddle, unmoving as they made figure eights around the arena. The steady beat of her mare's hoof beats calmed her, allowing her to feel in sync with the Thoroughbred, as if feeling her own feet hit the sand. Sitting up in the saddle, she urged NightMare into a swifter cantor, lengthening her stride. Heading towards a one foot vertical to warm up. Raven leapt over it without hesitation, but she flicked her ears in agitation, wanting to go faster than allowed. Daciana steered her over the next jump, a two foot oxen. Tossing her head, Raven neighed slightly mid-air, landing gently onto the ground, curving around the edge of the ring. Whispering a soft word of reprimand, Daciana sawed her hands and circled the mare so she could calm down. Then, the girl urged the Thoroughbred onto the four foot triple bars, followed by a five foot hogs back. Raven jumped over the first two with ease, snorting as she landed, but once she leapt over the hogs back, she threw a buck at the crest of the jump. Growling with frustration, Daciana tapped the mare with heels, flaring her nostrils in anger. "Behave," she mumbled under her breath. Sawing her hands one more, Raven settled down and bobbed her head, calming down to a quiet canter. "Good girl," Daciana whispered, slowing her down to a walk.
