- James still had that fluttering feeling in his stomach even a while after the two of them had locked lips. It was a new feeling to him, even though it hadn't been his first kiss. That was stolen by a girl in the eighth grade -before he had become a werewolf of course- as well as once or twice with other girls, but he had never had this lighter than air feeling. That had to mean something didn't it? That maybe what he regarded as nothing more than a simple crush was more than what it appeared to be, especially since Vee shared the same feelings?
However he didn't dwell on this for long, because he was pulled from his thoughts by the sound of Vee's voice. Looking over at the two meats, he quickly decided "
The rest of the shopping trip had remained for the most part uneventful. No they didn't kiss again because every aisle they went down had people in it that would no doubt stare at them- again. However James only let go of Vee's hand when he had to reach for something off of the top shelf -because he was somewhat taller than Vee and could easily reach up there- and when they were checking out the food that the pack needed. (Of course James paid for it, which he didn't really mind. He had a sort of emergency fund tucked away in his room for moments like this.) Oddly enough the two of them didn't see Judd yet, so they sort of hurried to get back to the jeep thinking that they were late. Luckily though it appeared that they were early and would have a few minutes before Judd showed up with the keys to get in. It was already dark out so the two of them moved to under the street lights as the winter cold began to set in.
Figuring since he could see little clouds around his face every time he exhaled he knew that Genevieve had to be cold standing there in nothing more than a dress, so James being the lovesick puppy he was, pulled his hoodie off and gave it to her to keep warm while the pair waited for the Beta to appear with the other half of the pack's supplies. He wrapped a now goose bump riddled arm around her waist, although the little bumps were not from the cold. It was what was on his mind. Figuring while the two of them were alone, and that burst of courage was still running through his veins he asked her "I know the meat aisle and a grocery store parking lot aren't exactly the most romantic places, and I promise I will make up for them. But since we both know how we obviously feel for each other, I was wondering if...we could...you know, make it official." He only paused to find the right words he wanted to use because human terms and lycan terms weren't exactly the same, although they meant the same thing. He just didn't want any humans that might have heard them by some slim chance to get suspicious. Although James was sure he knew what Vee's response was going to be, he just wanted to make sure. He didn't want to screw this up. He would never forgive himself if that happened.
Strangely he was tempted to kiss her again underneath that street light while the stars and white snow would have been their only witnesses, but he wanted -no, needed- to hear Vee's answer first.
