Quasar blinked up at the sky as the last two dragon-rider pairs descended, flicking his arrow-tipped tail. He narrowed his eyes only very slightly at Alexei's insolent roar; the Red had tried to undermine him since day one. Apparently Quasar's lack of "royal blood" made him unsuited to his role, or something. However, one of Alexei's frequent complaints was that Quasar wasn't serious enough about the whole thing, which, Quasar had to admit, was probably true; Hunter certainly said so all the time. Usually, Quasar was oblivious enough to ignore Alexei's lack of respect towards him, but it was pretty difficult to ignore the loud sound of his bellowing roar and all of the implications it carried with it.
Quasar smiled at Nova, however, as she landed; he tended not to take as much notice of the little Oiseau, but he found her pleasant enough, if a little shy. Quasar, being slightly socially inept, didn't notice the way she quailed next to Katido, and wouldn't have thought much of it if he had. He flapped his wings a bit to lift himself on top of the shed, his gaze sweeping the group of dragons that he'd spent his life with, his eyes glittering like light blue sapphires. He glanced at his rider. They're all here, he thought-spoke to her. You should tell the humans what's going on; I'll tell the dragons.
He puffed out a bit of smoke, then spoke to the dragons: "We're leaving. Finally. We're leaving on the quest." Excitement tingled through him, even though he wasn't sure which way they would be going, or what they would encounter along the way. He assumed that a good place to start was to locate Markus's army, find out where they were camped, find out where Markus was, then hatch a plan - all without getting caught.

Alex hung by Katido; a rustle of air caught her attention briefly, then she looked back at Hunter and Quasar when she noticed that it was just Nova and Esperanza landing, but not before greeting them cheerfully. "Hi guys!" She leaned against Katido's shoulder and waited for Hunter to elaborate what was going on. Quasar already seemed to be explaining things to the dragons, but the two species wouldn't be able to understand each other's speech without the thought-speak bonds to span the gap. Therefore, Alex and the other humans would have to wait for an explanation from Hunter as to what was going on, though Alex was almost positive now that she knew exactly what it was. And Alex was usually very right about the things she was sure about.
Alex looked across at the group, ranged out before them; there were Idrina and Oswald, the quiet strategist of the group. Oswald was an interesting character, in her opinion; he was smart, she knew, but in a different way than she was. He was more tactical, more of the planning type than the sciencey, pure intellect sort of smarts. His dragon, Idrina, always seemed to have a look in her eye, and Alex knew from Katido that some of the other dragons didn't trust her, though Katido himself had no problem with Idrina. Then there was Vanessa and Alexei, the Red; Vanessa was amusing, but Alex personally found Katido far funnier than she, only because his jokes were always harmless fun, high comedy instead of low, usually involving a bit of wit rather than a practical joke as were Vanessa's forte. Alex knew that Katido wasn't fond of the Red and his adherence to strict codes. Esperanza, of course, and his sweet little dragon, were both charming as could be; then there was Jackie Axis and Binesi. She knew that Katido had no quarrel with the dragon, but for some reason - a reason which Alex found fairly obvious - Jackie bothered her a bit.
