1000 years ago, the world as we knew it came to an end. A heavy fog covered the earth, and millions of people died. However, it wasn't the fog that killed people, but the monsters trapped within it. They were vicious and vile beasts made purely of darkness and evil. Anybody touched by the fog was dragged into it and murdered, maybe even devoured, instantaneously. The Fog only fully covered the world for a few hours before it congregated, covering the half of the world that included what was once known as Asia, Australia, and part of Antarctica. Of course, all of that now is a dead zone. Though really, the whole planet is a dead zone because the fog and the monsters have knocked the entire magnetic field off kilter. There is no such thing as electricity anymore. The people now know it as the Dark Lands. This is the way the world has been for the past 1000 years.
After the Fog took over the planet before cutting it in half, those who were left went kind of insane. People were robbing each other, beating each other, and raping each other left and right. There were murders and disease breakouts left and right. This went on for about 5 years before people finally settled down a little. Towns were built with barricades surrounding them. Large walls to keep those living there safe. Unfortunately, a common place occurrence was that many of the monsters would break free from the fog. The people became fierce warriors who learned how to defend themselves. People were separated into ranks such as warriors and councilors.
Nobody knows how, maybe it has something to do with the Fog, but the most strange event of them all finished its final stage of evolution roughly 750 years into the Fogs dominion. Predators such as Tigers, Bears, Lions, Hawks, Cats, and hundreds more predator species began to develop bonds with humans. The bond is formed from birth. The animals life length is the same as the human it is connected to, they also grow at the same rate (the rate of the human and life span of the human). They are born at the exact same time and are drawn to each other across the distance until they find one another. The bond between them is so strong that if the human dies, than the animal dies almost instantly. If the animal dies then the person will slowly begin to lose the will to live until they too die. Though technically the human could actually live on. The animals are there to protect their humans. They feel each others emotions and can communicate with each other through their minds.
People are separated into their assigned ranks based on the animal they are bonded with. A person bonded to a tiger is more likely to be a warrior than someone bonded with a hawk or a cat. Everyone is the same gender as their bonded animal. The connection is so strong that you can't be with someone unless the animal accepts them, or at the very least, tolerates them.

☩ Lastly, this is a Semi-Literate RP. That means I want 5 or more well written sentences per post. You don't need to write a giant paragraph but if you want to feel free. I understand writers block or even when you're trying to reply to someone who has writers block so you have little to say. I also am sympathetic to grammatical confusion because I'm not the best at it either. But I want you to make an attempt to use correct grammar.
