After the castle staff, the duke himself bowed before the prince. He gave a soft smile and bowed back, not one to be rude. As he stood up straight, he unconsciously smoothed out a sleeve as he spoke in an apologetic tone, "I apologize deeply if my family or I am causing you any trouble Duke of Bymere, and am also am very grateful that you have accepted me into your country." He paused for a moment and smiled, "Yours is truly a beautiful place." Everything Haylin would say was the honest truth, he could never bring himself to lie to anyone let alone a duke and if he did, it was often, very obvious. The young prince had already taken a liking to this place so he hoped that he might be visiting more often. It was nice and calming, unlike his country where there was always something happening. It was noisy and incredibly agitating, especially when his mother and father wanted him to study and be "the best you can be," without any distractions.

Maria was unfazed, used to the things people said about her background and herself. In fact, being called a, "glorified stablegirl," was probably one of the nicer things she had been called. She bowed before the prince and only stood up straight again when he had stridden off. "I mean no disrespect, Prince Merek but Sir Lionel Rames is the knight in charge of your well-being, I am but a squire, an assistant if you may to Sir Lionel." She was not exactly sure of the situation herself but sounding sure would definitely help. She noticed the nervous servant next to the prince and was about to smile until he had so very subtly narrowed his eyes at her. So instead she offered him a puzzled look, slightly confused as to why he would do such a thing. They were kind of in the same position were they not?

"Look, the honest truth is that you're incompetent. The fact you can perform light spells or whatever just means you have magic in your blood, but without training you're about as much use as a seamstress with no threads. That doesn't mean you're bad at it, it just means you've got no idea how to do it because nobody's taught you." How had she ended up in this situation? This was why she stayed at home. At home there were no men who harassed you and then got upset when you told them to leave you alone. "I'm not that person. I just want to buy some tomes."

Julias said nothing as Vincent rematerialized at his side (honestly the servant was practically his shadow at this point) and simply continued walking. He was somewhat mollified by her explanation, since Lionel was a pretty decent choice of guard, and breathed in a little heavily to steady himself. Today was not proving to be a good day. His pride wouldn't allow him to apologise for his sharp words, but that didn't mean he couldn't try and fix this before it got any worse. "I'm afraid I didn't catch your name, squire?"

Maria breathed a quiet sigh of relief as she heard the tone of his voice soften. 'Thank Naga he's not upset with Lionel being his guard,' The girl thought, a small smile appearing on her face. She almost lost herself in a daydream until she realized that she had not even introduced herself before the prince she would be assisting and maybe guarding? Well she was certainly going to help somehow. "Ah! I apologize Prince Merek," She spoke quickly and bowed again, "My name is Maria Alexis, I am the squire who will accompany you and Prince Seo alongside Knight Lionel." Her words came tumbling out of her mouth, she could not believe that she had not introduced herself the moment the prince stepped out of his room.

Ceciel let out a soft sigh as he thought over all of the others words. After the minute that seemed to go on he nodded. "Very well.. Sorry to have wasted your time so rudely.." he mumbled before he began to walk away from the cart. He'd just end up heading home, just sit in his chair and try to work on his abilities though he'd never get anywhere. For some reason he could feel angry tears stinging at the backs of his eyes. He wasn't angry at Arren of course but himself. His parents. His brother. All he wanted to do was to show them he was capable of something but every time he took a step towards his goal he merely fell on his face and was pushed back farther than he'd ever wanted to get. He pushed open the door to his house and shut it up behind him, locking it before he leaned against it, putting his hands up to his face a moment. He pressed hard at his eyes, willing himself to stop being so stupid and incompetent the word rang back at him like backlash and he could feel the sudden pang in his chest. He cursed softly to himself and rose to his feet. He'd been practicing with the light's though he'd started to notice he was beginning to levitate things though any time he concentrated on it, it would merely crash to the floor in a big clang.

Vincent Cartwright
♥ 20 ♥ Servant to Julias ♥ Feeling worried ♥ Tagged: Nobody ♥ Location: Following the Prince ♥

Vincent let his eyes flicker back to the squire, who he learned was Maria. He rolled the name around in his mind a bit. He didn't quite like the sound of it. Of course, this wasn't the fault of the squire but instead the Prince's fault and even Vincent's. He let himself keep just a few steps behind the prince, giving him enough room to prevent himself from crashing should the prince decide he wanted to stop suddenly. He let his eyes find the floor near the Prince's feet, finding this the best place to let his mind wander, that way he could still follow him and still prevent himself from running into the other boy.

{{sorry for the shorter reply with Vincent, there's not very much he can do atm and I didn't post Iden's cause she's not really interacting with anyone either.}}

Arren watched him leave, trying to force down the guilt. It was absolutely not her fault that the idiot took 'you're not trained and I can't do anything about it, you should find someone who can' as 'you awful at everything and should just give up.' Shaking her head, she turned back to the stall owner, who had deposited the tomes in front of her. She picked one up and began to leaf through it, noting with a pleased sound that they seemed to be accurate. Thank the Gods. She shuddered to think about what would happen if an amateur attempted to cast one of these spells if it was wrong. "I'll take the first two volumes of the Basics," she told the woman, digging out her money. Undoubtedly these would be expensive, but perhaps the fact that she was fully capable of frying the stall with minimal effort might get her a discount.

Julias's lip twitched slightly at the name 'Merek,' only just managing to stop it developing into a scowl once more. "Maria," he murmured to himself, and then looked over to his servant. "This is Vincent, my personal servant. He shall be accompanying us to Bymere. Do you know when we leave?" And if Lionel was to be escorting them also, where was the knight? He considered, briefly, going to find his father, but decided against it. There would be little point; he'd surely be too busy to cope.

ALEXANDER LOUIS BONFILS
duke of bymere

A small smile twisted upon his face as the Prince bowed back and spoke some words in an apologetic tone. His face momentarily flashed at the word "family" as he remembered his wife, with her soft white-gold hair and her clear blue eyes, and their children, their daughter with her copper locks, and their son with his lick of dark downy hair....there had also been a stillborn. His wife had gone into labor far too early, and they had not even known the baby's gender. Alexander could remember seeing his daughter and his son for the first time, but neither newborn had blossomed: at the birth of their son his wife had died. He had lost them all and he longed for them to be back, for his children to grow and his wife to be besides him.

Swallowing, the Duke shook his head. "There is no inconvenience, Sire," he responded, and his sorrow-filled heart filled briefly at the comment on his home, "I like to keep it in the way my late wife would have wanted." He hadn't moved on, had he? Not really. It had been years now, and he couldn't move on, he couldn't find a new wife and he couldn't settle down. Beckoning the foreign prince closer, he saw fit to introduce himself properly. "Please, do not just call me Duke. My name is Alexander Louis Bonfils."

(If you are curious, his wife looks like Rebecca Ferguson ^.^)

Haylin saw the brief change in expression noted in his thoughts that whatever he had just said he probably should not mention again. “Ah! I-I’m so sorry about your wife,” He spoke a little quieter than before, “I did not mean to bring back anything you might not want to remember.” In all honesty the prince knew about the duke’s wife. Of course he would not mention that he knew beforehand, but almost everyone who knew about Bymere also knew that the duke had not married anyone since his wife passed away. And they also knew that aside from the atmosphere changing, the palace itself did not change much. Haylin would have guessed as much, to him it did not feel like it was missing something but to everyone else it probably felt a little emptier. “Again, thank you so much for allowing me into your home,” He spoke again, trying to change the subject and hesitating on whether to call him by his name or not to mention it at all, “Might you know when Prince Merek is arriving?”

"Um..Well...yes..I believe we will be leaving as soon as you are ready and that Sir Lionel will be joining us at the gates," And as Maria spoke, the sureness in her voice started to fade little by little. She had absolutely almost no clue what was going to happen and had prayed to the gods that perhaps the knight would quickly accompany them as soon as he could. Her eyes wandered over to Vincent and tried to offer a soft smile in the hopes that they could maybe become friends. He was probably the only person here who she could make friends with as she was more of a manservant than a friend to Lionel and the prince, well, he did not seem interested, at all. The foreign prince also had no servants actually accompanying him to his trip, none that she knew of anyway.

Nᴀᴍᴇ| Shayaan, son of Nastar the son of Asma, of Solis.
Nɪᴄᴋɴᴀᴍᴇ| Shay, but this is only for those he trusts
Aɢᴇ| Around 154
Gᴇɴᴅᴇʀ| Male
Oʀɪᴇɴᴛᴀᴛɪᴏɴ| pansexual
ʀᴏʟᴇ| Shayaan is a magician- more specifically a Djinn subset known as a Marid.
Pʟᴀᴄᴇ ᴏғ ᴏʀɪɢɪɴ| Shayaan is from the Solis clan, who live across the mountains in a vast desert. Their city is hidden within a pebble by strong magic wielded by his grandmother- a djinn queen known as Asma.
Aᴘᴘᴇᴀʀᴀɴᴄᴇ| As a Djinn, Shayaan often can shift his form. His true form- the or he most prefers to use- is much like the pictured, with slightly darker skin. He is muscular, though his form is often not seen due to the off-white thawb he usually wears. Most of the time he wears a kuffiyeh, reddish or gold in color, on his head. His hair is black in color, and he keeps his facial hair trimmed. His hair is somewhat long and slightly curly. Now that he is in northern climes, he may start wearing more regional clothing to deal with the colder temperatures.
As a marid djinn, his djinn form is enormous- at least nine feet tall and his skin a brilliant green color due to his youth. Most often like this he will be invisible to most people unless they concentrate on his magical energy. As a human, Shayaan is around six foot five, easily towering over many people. He has no weapons on him, since his magic usually suffices.
Pᴇʀsᴏɴᴀʟɪᴛʏ| Shayaan is a mischievous, young Djinn. He often meddles with mortals, only because he's rather interested in people. Most of the time he does get angry with them and decides to curse them out of pure spite. Like all djinn, Shayaan is easily offended, so small curses are usually placed upon people as a result. If the offense to him is too great, he is even apt to kill the other. Though he does keep in mind to not use his magic much. Knowing there is a djinn about is a threat to his safety, and Shayaan would rather not be trapped within a lamp or vase
Yet, Shayaan is easily flattered to do work. He is a proud djinn, so saying he is not good at something in a subtle way would incite him to do a job. Otherwise, djinn like him hate being ordered around. The only person djinn served was King Solomon, long ago, with a diamond ring. The artifact now deemed as lost, which means Shayaan has little fear over being forced to do something.
If Shayaan becomes indebted to someone, he will fefinetly give them his service in return. He can grant wishes, though not very grand ones due to the fact he is still learning and not very powerful. If he dislikes a person, he may offer a wish that backfires in a subtle way, since djinn are subtle when they can.
Bɪᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜʏ| Shayaan was born to Nastar- the son of the Djinn queen Asma. He grew up in the djinn city of Unar. From a young age, his father and grandmother were large influences in his life. His father and mother were both Djinn who hated humans- red DInni. His grandmother tried her best to make sure Shayaan got as much of an influence from his parents as well as from her and her other son- Ansar, a blue djinn. Shayaan respects Asma and his parents very much- though Asma is the reason why he isn't already a red djinn.
Shayaan, after much pleading, managed to get permission to go northwest to the larger human cities. He set out about 5 years ago, with the blessing of his parents and grandmother. He did become sidetracked, though, and only reached the first human settlements in the rps setting around 3 days ago.
ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ| Just to make him in-character, if your character has a NPC you want to play, it would be likely that Shayaan could kill them and assume their form after a slight against him. Much easier to put him in that way.

Jacquelyn Avant
22/aѕѕaѕѕιn/locaтιon: town

Jacquelyn's face twisted into a cynical smile, all traces of sentimentality gone. "Come on Law, do you think I really care?" she said with a hint of exasperation. She flipped over and propped herself onto her elbows while staring him down with lethal eyes. Law was one to stare right back instead of immediately submitting. That made him one of Jacquelyn's biggest annoyances as she had to tread lightly to maintain the fragile ties between them.=. But, in many ways, he was her greatest ally due to the vast reaches of his business. And he obviously had a knife.
Making a faint growl in the back of the throat, she pushed herself off the table in a sarcastic manner and reached down to scoop up some dirt from the tightly packed ground. When she had enough of the dry, dusty matter, Jacquelyn spit in it to make it moldable and rubbed it into the small hole, smoothing the top so the surface was even again. "Is that good?" she sneered, flicking the excess dirt from her hand. Normally, she would go to a more... compliant vender but right now, she needed the best of quality. "I know you have a knife, Law." she sighed. Suddenly, all of the events of the day came rushing back and the fatigue from her sleepless nights suddenly caught up to her. It hit her like a wave as all of the spark and energy left her body. She hated this feeling; it made her feel helpless, but the obviously sleep deprived state of her body didn't allow her to do much else. Her shining blue eyes dulled and filled with her usual hollow, gaunt look and a deep sigh escaped her frame as she sank back onto her elbows.

Law's eyes narrowed slightly, gritting his teeth. He should probably not do things he knew wound her up, but he wasn't a coward, and to be honest, he didn't really care what she thought. She wasn't going to kill him. There was no danger of that in the slightest. She needed him too much. Things like high quality knives and other weapons she acquired from him, but he also provided, on occasion, poisons or possible clients. He cared little for her line of work, but they had such a strong mutual dislike he had long since established remaining useful to her was the best alternative. He rather enjoyed not being dead.

"It would have been better if you just hadn't stabbed it," he complained grouchily, but he crouched down and began to rustle through his merchandise. He had a blade in here somewhere, a nice one, not his most expensive (those too good to waste on her) but not exactly cheap either. "There. This belonged to a wandering mercenary, so I assume it's going to be suited to your purposes. Small enough to conceal but sharp." It was a nice knife actually. Someone had painstakingly carved a dragon onto the hilt, scales and everything. Hm. "Six silvers and its yours. On the condition you don't attempt to destroy any more of my property."

Julias gave a long-suffering sigh. Why was nothing ever easy? He closed his eyes for a beat, then began to make his way to the gates. "Then let us go. We shall be late." As he approached the gates, he caught sight of the broad figure of Lionel and breathed a silent sigh of relief. Maybe all was not lost just yet. The Knight turned to face them, bowing slightly at him, which he approved of.
"M'lord. Your horse is ready." The prince nodded once, and then promptly stopped paying attention to anything else the knight would say to either him or Maria.
