The outside of Norman Mansion was as foreboding as the tales Jayna had been telling him about it.
It had a regal, colonial appearance to it, what with the old white paint having rubbed off and faded to show the ugly, old brown wood beneath it. The entrance was framed with large pillars that weren't too common in the modern day, and the wrap-around porch was broken in places to suggest that anyone that walked on it would end up underneath the building. The pitch black front door was the eeriest part, Milo remarked to himself, as he closed the SUV's passenger door and began unloading some of the tech equipment. They took three cars to every location. Jayna, Jess, Steven and himself all took the large black SUV with the tech equipment in it. Cynthia and Noah always were in charge of the white SUV with the camera stuff. Nick and Kaylin brought the covered truck with all of the tables and chairs in the back. They had considered consolidating to only two cars, but no one particularly enjoyed riding with Nick and Kaylin. The two were okay when on set, but they were a little too affectionate elsewhere.
The others had arrived before them, seeing as Jess had forgotten to grab food for the cat that was currently sleeping on top of the laptop bag in the trunk of the car and they'd had to turn around. Naturally, Milo's feelings for Jess had caused him to order Steven to turn the car around and take them back. He knew the cat could make it through the night, but it was something Jess was genuinely concerned about and Milo hated to see her upset. Although the cat technically belonged to Cynthia, Milo liked to have him along for the ride with the tech and research crew because he was like their little mascot. "Mascat" is what Milo had deemed him.
Milo was pleased to see, as they passed the other cars, that Cynthia had likely gotten Nick under control for once and managed to get him to help unpack and get things inside before dark. The sun was rapidly setting, and they needed to set everything up before the evening was upon them.
There was a lot of excitement in the air. Season 1 had gone so well that the others just knew if they got this beginning episode right... they'd be big. Even as the four friends pushed the front door open and looked inside of the dark, desolate mansion they couldn't help but smile in anticipation. Nick and Kaylin had already set up the large white party tables in the foyer of the mansion. On both sides of the large room were giant, elegant staircases that led up to the second floor of the house. A balcony went between them and an eerie statue of a strange woman stared down at Milo from the center of it. He shivered, entering the house with the others and gently setting down the equipment he had grabbed on the nearest white table. Their first job was to sort everything out, including the computers, the cords, the cameras, the lights, the batteries, the microphones, the bluetooth devices, the EMF readers, the lenses and much more. After everyone got everything sorted, they needed to consult the map and decide on a central location to make up the 'home base' where the tech crew and the researchers would spend most of their time camping and watching for strange activity. The researchers really weren't of much use during filming other than to answer any questions the rest of the crew might have about anomalies. They were a lot of help with reviewing the footage, however, and sometimes caught things Milo and Jess did not.
Milo cast a look over at his partner and sighed. He personally believed that Jess could have been a great host for the show, if that was what she had wanted to do. She was definitely as pretty as Kaylin, if not prettier. At least he thought so. He looked down at the equipment in front of him with a content look on his face and began to get it all set up.

There had been a huge power struggle upon arrival at Norman.
Nick had his usual argument with Cynthia that lasted about ten minutes and ended with him having to go off with his girlfriend and have her talk him down from his irritation. In that time, Cynthia and Noah had unloaded the SUV and the truck, rather unhappily. Nick returned in time to see that there was really nothing to do, which naturally calmed him down even more. He wasn't allowed to touch the equipment--it was something everyone had ruled with him because he had a tendency to screw around with it and break it. He was allowed to set up his own bluetooth device, though. While the others were arriving, he was busy unwinding the devices from their tangled cords and making a mess of the equipment on the table. He cringed inwardly, knowing that Cynthia and Milo would probably pick on him for it. In fact, Jess managed to get mad at him whenever he messed up her organization as well. She herself wasn't fun to deal with, either.
Sliding the liberated earpiece onto his ear, he picked up a mirror on the table and began attempting to hide it with his spiky hair. It was a little distracting when it was in plain view, or so he had heard from the viewers. Plus he didn't like how weird it made him look. "Sebastian Beckett" was not weird. He was a heart throb. He was a sex icon. He had nice hair and a nice body and pretty eyes and he was tall and he was brave. That is the person people wanted to see on camera. What they didn't know was that "Sebastian" was actually just plain old Nick; Nick with the too-pale skin, the too-thin body, the too-clumsy way of fumbling around, the too-irritating personality, and the Nick that was cheating on his girlfriend of over a year with another member of the crew. On camera, he was a role model. Off camera, he was a little bit of a mess. The people that watched the show sometimes heard the way that the rest of the crew spoke with Nick--teasing him and making good comebacks to his insults. They were shown infrequently enough to be playful and funny, but what the viewers didn't see was that Nick was so painfully annoying and overly sarcastic that the only way the rest of the crew could stand him was to tease him. He always put himself on this high throne just because he was the male lead of the show, but the others wished he would just step down and realize he probably does the least work of all of the crew. If their entire show didn't ride on the fact people found him attractive, then they would probably have booted him off ages ago.
Alas, they'd gotten used to having him around and it was expected by everyone to be pestered by Nick. Finally finished with his ear piece, he strolled over to Kaylin and wrapped his arms around her from behind, kissing her cheek gently. His eyes flashed past Jayna without falling on her for fear of the guilt he would feel. He loved Kaylin so much, but he just couldn't figure out his feelings when Jayna came into the picture. "Hey, babe," he muttered under his breath, examining everyone around the room. "Ready to be famous?"
