BEFORE YOU CAN FLY
⋯⋯⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯

the secretive deputy paraCassie started by shoving her back repeatedly though the Russian did not move, only taking effortless shoved steps backward. Both of them were hurting. Tears were starting to sting at her dark eyes along with Cassie's. But at the time, they wouldn't let them slip. Something caught her attention from the corner of her eye. A totem lay in the window seal. A black umbrella. She swallowed hard and faced her friend.

paragraphJessi suddenly shot out her fist, pitching it to the bottom of Cassie's nose. Her comrade cried out, blood spewing from her newly made wound. She'd live. Cassie was so busy with the minor pain that Jessi made her move. She bent and rammed straight into head friend, threw her over her shoulder and marched down the hall. She stomped out of the house and to the back porch. There she flung her friend to the ground in the back yard. Jessi released a huff, watching as her friend sprawled on the ground like a dying animal. She slid off her leather jacket, unclipped her holsters along with the guns from her pants and handed it all to Adam. There was a flash of a grin to him before she turned and walked to where Cassie heaved in breaths to her burning lungs. "Now, Cassie," She said, popping her knuckles and looking down to the flaxen haired girl. She didn't want to hurt her but this would be the only way of getting to a point of friendship again like they always did. "You wanna finish this?"

paragraphBlood gushed from her face; it throbbed. Oh, gosh! It throbbed! "You hit me!" She exclaimed, grabbing her face. "Oh my gosh! My brains are leaking out of my nostrils! Toto! The asprin!" She made an, "oof!" sound as Jessi hurtled her way at Cassie and scooped her up. Well. That was just down right humiliating: this military tough chick could pick up a piece of video-game flab like her and haul her around like she weighed no more than a puppy. "You're insulting me!" She wailed. "This whole scenario!" She sighed, fixated on her bloody nose as Jessi carried her out in the yard. She was thrown to the ground and sputtered, shock dawning on her. "I'm going to murder you!" She choked. And then fumbled around in the grass for Kotka's water tin pale. "I'm gonna shove this up your--"

paragraphJessi hurtled herself at Cassie, dog-piling her in the ground. The scratched, punched, slapped, and tore at each other to no end. Again the rolled and rolled and rolled over in the wet ground with mud now thoroughly covering their clothes and bodies. Every time Jessi struck Cassie across the face, another small wound would open but soon heal by her touch. However when Cassie tore at Jessi, her body healed much slower. After a few lengthy moments of a dog fight; Jessi the Rottweiler and Cassie the Chiwawa; the lay sprawled on their backs in the swampy yard beside each other. The heaved for breaths in pants, still slugging each other with no real intent on hurting each other any further.

And then the pathetic giggling started from their sore guts. Jessi rolled on her hurt side to look over at Cassie who lay giggling like a mad woman after being beaten to death. "Now, what do you say?" She asked, wincing through her words. She had a split lip and many other bleeding spots on her body. Cassie seemed to be darn right perfect. She dug out some new packaged gum from her pocket and slapped it in Cassie's hand. "Peace-treaty?"

Cassie had already whirled on me as I sat in the chair by the window, twirling the knife absently between my fingers. The flimsy blade bending under the slight pressure I placed on it. Then she was threatening me, well not exactly threatening, rather trying to sound intimidating and demanding the knife from me. I shifted my gaze from the view outside the window to her, locking her cerulean orbs in a murderous glare. She quickly shoved her hands into her pockets and shifted her attention back to Jessi. My own gaze shifted back to the window. I didn’t care what they were talking about it. It was their issue to be resolved between them and I was only here to make sure the crazy German kid didn’t murder Jessi.

My attention had been so far gone I hadn’t noticed anybody approaching until the knife began the slide out of my hands. My grip on it tightened and I nearly growled, stifling it at the last second as I realized who it was. Relenting I released the knife, letting it slip out of my hands and into Jessi’s, not even looking at her as she took the weapon. For a fleeting moment I could imagine her spinning around and sinking the knife into Cassie’s throat, killing the poor girl. But I didn’t think even Jessi could do something like that. Maybe I would though. I didn’t know anymore.

Their conversation fell on deaf ears, muffled and muted as even my vision spaced far away and my senses drifted away from me. God I was tired, so tired. When had I last slept? Three, four days ago? I couldn’t even remember anymore. Wasn’t there a myth that if you didn’t sleep for a certain amount of time your body would eventually shut down and force you to sleep? Was that what was happening? No, it couldn’t be. I was still aware of things moving around me, I just couldn’t hear or see them. And then their presence was gone from the room and I had to pull myself back to the surface, out of my reverie. The pair had left the room, going outside probably. I guessed that they needed to settle their differences that old fashioned way.

I brought myself to my feet, swaying unsteadily with my vision flickering for a moment before I followed after them. I found them outside alright, gearing up for a fight. As soon as I walked through the door Jessi was shoving her things into my arms and then the two were going at it. Fists flying, blood spattering everywhere, freshly open wounds closing again under Jessi’s fists. Then, as soon as it had begun it was over and the girls were lying in the mud, panting and then laughter rolling from them. “Now that you’ve got that sorted out,” I grumbled quietly, thrusting Jessi’s things back into her arms. “I’m-” I broke off. What was I doing again, what was I planning? I couldn’t remember. Oh, that was right! I planned on sleeping. Nightmares or not I was at the point where I couldn’t even function anymore. Without finishing explaining I made my way back to the Trans AM, crawling into the backseat, landing clumsily on my face and staying like that, right arm and leg on the floor, belly first on the uncomfortable seats. But I was out like a light bulb.

he corners of her lips twiched in a smirk. Marjorie turned to see the tall, dark boy standing directly behind her. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and rest her cheek against his chest. She could feel him breathing, feel his heart beating under her skin. She had missed those sounds. Had missed his voice, that quiet and smooth sound that came from those perfect lips. Marjorie could feel it under her fignertips that this wasn't Drew Henderson. No, those boys could never be confused. This was Andy, her Andy.

creedwashereThe pale blonde pulled back from him for a second and smiled, gazing up into his warm eyes. Her skin began to tingle. In those eyes it was nearly impossible to see the shadow forming beneath the surface. It was a slick sphere of darkness growing larger by the day. No matter how hard she had tried, she could never get a grip on that sphere, she couldn't pull it out. Her eyes met his, and for her sake they tried so desperately to hide the truth from her.

creedwashereAnd then she saw it. A flash. Images and sounds ran through her mind. And then she was there. Standing just in front of that Amanda girl. Holding her. Kissing her. She was Drew. Marjorie's entire body tensed as she was snapped back into her own body. She blinked a couple times, shook her head a little. A pained smile passed her lips as she broke their eye contact.

creedwashereOne step back, two, until she was against the counter behind her. She sniffed, daring the coming tears to escape her eyes. "So," she said, looking down at her feet. "Should I assume you've been up to no good?"

THE BROKEN HEARTS

the power-hungry leader parathe embrace was something new he had not encountered for a very long time. her feel. her touch. the way she felt in his arms. it was something new but old at the same time. in that moment he realized how much he had desired for her to be in his arms once again. in that moment, he realized he would never want to let go. and in that moment, he realized how much he had lost without her. and how much more he would lose if he let her go again.
parashe was the one who pulled back though. not him. it was always him but never her. the look on her face aggrieved Drew in a small way deep within. her beautiful face did not show with beams of joy. now it was weakness and swirls of pained emotions. something deep inside her was wrong. a diverse glow shined from her body. it wasn’t the same marjorie moreau he knew from rockland maine. she wasn’t the same bad-girl that got them into trouble. something had changed. something big.
parahe watched as she took delicate steps back against the counter, her expressions more pale and eyes gloomy. what had she seen that threw her off so far? Drew almost didn’t hear her question. His brain seemed to fall over her words, missing the meanings. He blinked, distracted with concern for her. Drew stared vacantly at her. He should of asked what was wrong. Different. He shifted his weight, turning around and splayed his hands flat on the counter. something strong was stirring inside him, thriving. if he wasn’t careful he could have blown the whole counter through the window. he removed them and swiped them on his pants. “That depends on matter of perspective I suppose.” He made out in an utterance with a faint smirk on his face. he looked up abruptly to her across from him. “What’s wrong? I can tell you aren’t yourself. Did something happen when I was away?” Drew demanded in a harsher tone though tried to calm himself. His eyes darkened held half skepticism and concern for her.

THE YOUTUBER

CASSIE PRESTON

⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯

    name: cassidy "cassie" preston.
    age: 16 years old.
    feeling: tired and upset.
    tagged: karsten, jessi and adam.
    location: her house, bedroom.
    occupation: youtuber.
    power: none.
    ooc: xxx.

▬▬ CAN'T BE WHAT YOU
WANT ME TO BE ▬▬▬▬▬

Cassie heaved in and out, long and deep breaths of oxygen beginning to clear the colored fuzzy spots in her head. It looked like confetti. But why the heck would there be confetti in her head? She hadn’t won any great victory. Looking dimly over at the gum, she snatched it, not replying, but ripping open the silvery wrapping and tossing it to the side. She smacked on the gum for a long while, panting in between chews. Finally, the blonde propped herself up on an elbow and glared at Jessi. “This gum is a treaty, but I have no idea what you meant by the ‘peace’ business.” Cassie sat up, examining the grass stains on her jeans and arms. Dang. Jessi had done some damage. And, just like that, the fight was over. That was what true sisterhood was like: grappling, laughing about it while undergoing pain, and simply forgetting it.
Unless, of course, it was like that one time when Jessi and Cassie had first met. They had grown to an evil distaste for one another’s company and, both being YouTubers, believed the other was trying to steal their identity. Well. That was what it was like for Cassie. The fight had lasted only two minutes and thirty one seconds, but it had been brutal: Cassie’s nails ripped out, Jessi with a bruised eye; cuts and scratches and even a bite mark on Cassie’s ankle; a small fraction in Cassie’s elbow and Jessi ended up with bruised kidneys, chipped front teeth and three broken toes. But Jessi had done damage equally: Cassie with a bruised thigh, a kink in her neck and her shoulder out of place.
But that was when they were eleven. Now sixteen, and having the fourth fight in their lives, Cassie sat there, staring blankly at Kotka with a split lip, a cut at her temple and – now standing – a small limp. Smiling sarcastically, she reached out a hand for Jessi but as the other girl tried to take it, she brought her hand back and let Jessi fall. “Certainly not.” She declared. Then, limping to the door, she called back over her shoulder, “Get off my property, you bum! I don’t give to the lame who try to murder me.”

arjorie huffed a sigh and shrugged one shoulder, crossing her arms. She stole a glance at drew and then one at the blonde haired boy sitting on the floor in the corner. She paused for a moment before she spoke. "That could depend on your perspective as well. Your little captive over there touched me. Ever since this things have been weird with me."

creedwashereShe had known about these strange abilities since she was twelve. She had accepted that Drew was different and that she was normal --- at least on the matter of powers. She had never expected to develop one. Had never expected to be given one. That was probably what scared her most: this boy’s power. He had to have the most Marjorie has ever known, enough to give her an ability. Scarier than that was the thought of what Drew might do with the child.

creedwashereMarjorie shrugged again, not exactly knowing how to phrase it. She stole a glance at Drew. “I can see things now,” she said quietly. “When ever I look into someone’s eyes, I see something wrong that they’ve done in the past. I had thought it was just with me, the kid’s way of punishing me for being the prison keeper. But then I saw it in your eyes.” She shook her head dismissively. “It’s nothing major. Just a minor inconvenience. I’ll get by.” She smirked down at her feet though she felt no humor. “I always do.”

the power-hungry leader paraDrew shot a momentary look behind him to where the boy sat in the corner with the coin. He gazed at him for a few long moments, giving him an excuse to not look her directly in the eye. It was his only weakness. It always had been. And always will be.
paragraphOnce she spoke up again, his cold eyes drifted back to her. He knew what was coming. She knew almost all the bad he had done but since they had parted he had grown worse and even he knew that somewhere deep inside his mind. He was haunted in ways from all the things he had done. Though he wasn't too concerned about them when he was around his crew. Marjorie was a different story. She knew his weaknesses. She knew him. And even if he denied it, it hurt him more than ever for her to see the real him. To see that he hadn't changed. To see that he would never change. "I suppose that is what's with the mirrors, right?" He gestured around the room where all reflective surfaces were covered by curtains and clothing.
paragraphClearing his throat a little too loudly, his darkening eyes met her as he took a step closer. Suddenly he was no longer concerned with her ability of seeing what was inside him. She already knew him to be a monster. What was the point in trying to hide it. A smirk played on his handsome mouth, showing his bitter self that seemed to overtake him at the moment. "Whatever the case ... It might come in handy."

time-skip

paragraphA while later Drew, Marjorie and Marsden stood on top of a bridge that was on the far side of town. This would be the first step to take over the townies like he planned. And it would be the perfect first steps. Palms outward, Drew rose them higher and higher, feeling the resonance of the weight as it took off. The long bridge lifted up in the air; satisfying him enough to let out a laugh of pleasure. Then he dropped his hands to his side and let the bridge collapse in a heap down into the large strip of water below.

BEFORE YOU CAN FLY
⋯⋯⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯ ⋯⋯⋯⋯

the secretive deputy paraJessi stayed in the mud and was actually getting quite comfortable where she lay but the the empact of weight hit her abs -that weren't seeming to be too strong at the moment- which knocked the air out of her. She lifted her head, seeing a small pile of holsters and guns and Adam stomping off in his way when he didn't like something. At times the guy could be a pouting baby but from what she just heard from him she couldn't let herself think of him in that way. The blonde started on talking about the peace-treaty. That was one thing she would never be able to change about her friend. The sarcasm. Every word. Even if she didn't mean to, everything the girl said was not serious and it all seemed to be a joke. Well, at times Jessi was the same way. Missing Cassie's lift, she fell to her one elbow again with a scowl. A moment later when Cassie started rambling and stormed off, she heaved her sore muscly body from the ground though didn't care to clean herself off. They were both soaked all the way through with muddy water and grass stains everywhere. Luckily, Jessi wore a leather jacket and dark pants so there wasn't much of an effect there. Stomping behind in her big weighted boots; she muted Cassie's words to her ears and ambled on.

paragraph They walked through the halls, Cassie in the lead as they walked in the house. "I guess I'll see you later ..." There was more she wanted to add but it seemed like it was good enough that they did fight already. The point of this whole meeting had much more to it than just a big fight, even if the Adam or The Nazi didn't see it. Cassie and Jessi were sisters and each and every year they had a huge, fist throwing, blood-shedding fight when they needed to clear problems. At least the routine still was in the works. She clipped the holsters to her pants and slid her pistols into their fit, not exactly meeting Cassie's eyes as they stood apart. She strapped her other holster at her thigh and looked up, jamming it to fit nicely. Then, without another word, she turned on heel and started outside to the creaky screen door. Stepping onto the porch to see Adam in light slumber, Primrose, the fat goat, crying for food, and the chickens scattering about, she breathed in a lungful of air, feeling much better about all of it. Later she would come back and-- In the distance, something caught her attention. A rise of something big and then it fell. It wasn't too far away ... only at the bridge ...

paraJessi's dark eyes suddenly widened and a curse escaped from between her lips.

Obviously Hannah-Nora had been put out by the fact that I had practically dragged her away from Drew on Adam’s order, or maybe she was upset that Drew truly was stronger than her. Whatever the reason she was stomping along aggressively and kicking kick rocks, her light up shoes making the pavement glow underfoot. I was burning with my own shame, in the fact that I hadn’t moved a muscle to save her but had stood limply and uselessly as Drew waved her about as if she weighed nothing more than a feather. If I had just gotten closer. If I could have touched him, I could’ve sent an electric pulse to stock his heart. But I didn’t. I almost let him kill a little girl, what’s wrong with me? I was too lost in thought to catch what Hannah-Nora was going on about but she stormed past me with her little gun.

I lowered my head, chewing on my lip nervously and then the girl turned on me. It was so unexpected, I had been prepared to deal with a angry silence for the rest of the walk but her she was staring at me, lip trembling and then she was on her knees fat tears rolling down her cheeks and splashing onto the pavement. Wailing helplessly. I bit down on my lip hard, wincing as a coppery taste filled my mouth. Great, more blood. It was as if a floodgate had released inside the girl, water streamed down her face in currents and I wondering distantly just how the human body could produce so much liquid. Wait. What do I do? I’m not good with kids. Especially crying ones. I considered stepping forwards to wrap my ars around the child, that’s what you were supposed to do right? Comfort them? But she was on her feet already, asking for a popsicle and wondering why I was still hanging out with her. Why was I still hanging out with her? Did I want to, or did I just feel like it would be wrong to send a kid off on their own in a world like this? “Well, I gotta terrorize the citizens of Worther beach with somebody, don’t I?” I asked, offering her a large grin.

I strode forward, quite literally sweeping the girl off her feet and into my arms. She was a lot lighter when I was willing to carry her. “C’mon, what do you say we go find some popsicles? A whole box of them to ourselves. I’ll even see if I can get the tv and xbox to work and we’ll watch a dvd. How about that? You can even pick the movie.” I began trudging dutifully in the direction of the house we had been calling ours recently ever since Adam had started having his ‘problem’. For a brief moment it crossed my mind that I hadn’t electrocuted the girl when I had picked her up. Maybe I finally had my power under control. That brought a smirk forwards to pull at the corners of my lips. Yeah, that would be a good way to end this particular day.

IS THAT I AM CORRECT

the intelligent foreseer paraBo and the girl managed to slip away before the town leaders could spot them. They walked in silence, only with the speech of the Autistic girl who randomly mumbled on about something while rubbing her bandaged index finger against her thumb in a repeated motion. She didn't stop when they were to cross a street, she knew there would be nobody to spot them. Unless the girl did something out of the plan, they would wind up smoothly back to the leader of the Coates students.
paragraphShe was not used to this town, nor the community. All others seemed odd around her though she knew the real problem. Only if she were different. Normal. Would her father of loved her better if she were normal? If she thought and acted the same way instead of calculating number problems in order to figure out all the probabilities to come? Maybe. Most likely. Bo blinked away tears that wanted to come as the thoughts washed around her head. They quickly faded as she crossed the street in wide gentle steps with the girl where the building was located. It seemed to be in a blob of sorts. Her mind couldn't wrap around it but the probabilities came to her that she had come to earlier in the day. It had been a seventy seven chance that a townie would use a power to some how cover any important things in town from the Coates leader. Drew would not be happy.
paragraphRolling up her sleeves and wiping her palms on her pants, she turned her entire body around, her head and eyes to the ground, not reaching eye contact. "The Townie leaders will be here very soon." She said calmly, her voice shallow. Her brown eyes still held to the ground with her colored red curls swaying against her face slightly. Since the newest attack Drew had made --even if she wasn't in on the plan, she knew he would make one-- the leaders would be back to organize troops and send them out to prepare and guard things. "We should hurry."

madox jackson is a metal manipulator. he can use this power to
have magnetic flight, force fields and magnetic manipulation of
course. coming off as very cocky and arrogant he can be a huge
pain in the behind. madox is a student but prefers to hang with
the townies because he doesn't like the way drew rules. he can
be nice but that is somewhat rare to see. he is a powerful three
bar, ranking up there with the more powerful powered kids. he
doesn't really have any close friends but, something seems fam-
iliar about drew he just can't pinpoint it just yet. madox is a
mess on the inside but, looks completely calm on the outside.
